Chinn (Chinn-Hart) is a Lexington, Kentucky-based visual artist, designer, educator, and entrepreneur whose interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, ceramics, fiber, painting, jewelry, and found-object assemblage. She earned her MFA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1998 and her BFA from the University of Kentucky in 1994. Working fluidly across media, Chinn creates psychologically and materially layered works that explore identity, memory, labor, vulnerability, contradiction, and transformation through the use of porcelain, fiber, reclaimed materials, and found objects. Her work has been exhibited locally, regionally, and nationally and featured in exhibition catalogs and publications, including Sculpture and FiberArts magazines. In addition to her studio practice, she has served as a curator, gallery director, juror, panelist, public speaker, mentor, and educator. She has held adjunct faculty appointments at the University of Kentucky, Georgetown College, Eastern Kentucky University, and Bluegrass Community & Technical College, and has taught at the Bluegrass Arts Center, The Living Arts & Science Center, and Redwood Cooperative School. Previously, Chinn owned MADEky, a working studio and retail gallery in Lexington's Historic Distillery District. Alongside her fine art practice, she has worked professionally as a graphic designer for the last decade. Kenny O'Mary is the Assistant AD – Director of Sports Performance at Sacramento State. Prior to relocating to the west coast, O'Mary served in a similar role as the associate athletics director/director of student athlete high performance at William & Mary since 2021. Before joining the Tribe, he was the director of strength & conditioning at Howard University for three and a half years. O'Mary primarily worked with the football, volleyball, track & field, and women's soccer programs in addition to overseeing the 19 Bison varsity programs. O'Mary began his career at his alma mater, Eastern Kentucky University, as an intern coach from 2009-2010 before being promoted to graduate assistant, from 2010-2012 and eventually full-time assistant from 2012-2013. Additionally, O'Mary garnished experience as an intern coach at Louisville in 2011 between his roles at EKU and later joined the staff at the United States Military Academy at West Point where he worked from 2013-2017. O'Mary is active himself in the weight room and continues trains while balancing the rigors of the collegiate coaching schedule. Grades - Day says it's much easier to cross a kid's name off the recruiting list if they don't respond to coaches or have bad grades. Forward Radio's proud community partner, the Greater Louisville Sierra Club (https://sierraclub.org/kentucky)organized this February program, focused on Central Appalachia as a central site of mass incarceration. Called "Cages in the Coalfields: Development, Criminalization, and Incarceration in Central Appalachia," it was held Feb 17, 2026 at 7:00pm at Crescent Hill Community Ministries (150 State St.) Central Appalachia is home to 16 prisons; there are 8 prisons alone in Eastern Kentucky, where full and overcrowded jails extend the expansive carceral geography to the local level. While these institutions reflect our national and state investment in criminalization and punitive sentencing policies, they also serve as rural development projects bound in various ways to the decline of coal. From calls for rural jobs in corrections to prisons built on mountaintop removal sites to jails as revenue strategies, the carceral expansion in the region must be understood as a response to multiple crises. This talk, by justice studies scholar and Sierra Club Executive Committee member Judah Schept, examines both the crises and the ways that prisons and jails have responded, as well as the work of the "Building Community Not Prisons" coalition to stop the construction of FCI Letcher (Federal Correctional Institution), the newest prison planned for the region. Judah Schept is a Professor in the School of Justice Studies at Eastern Kentucky University. He is the author of Coal, Cages, Crisis: The Rise of the Prison Economy in Central Appalachia (New York University Press, 2022) and Progressive Punishment: Job Loss, Jail Growth, and the Neoliberal Logic of Carceral Expansion (New York University Press, 2015). He is co-editor of The Jail is Everywhere: Fighting the New Geography of Mass Incarceration (Verso Books, 2024). Who knew that learning how to buddy tape fingers would lead to a decades long career in Athletic Training? That is exactly where Jeff Carrico started in grade school thanks to his coach Pat Lewis. Jeff started to find his athletic training groove at LaSalle HS, (Cincinnati, OH) as their student athletic trainer and then on to Eastern Kentucky University to learn from NATA HOF athletic trainer, Dr. Bobby Barton. Work ethic and previous AT experience allow for Jeff to right to work at EKU. Working various sports but spending most of his time with Dr. Barton and Football. After getting his undergraduate degree he landed a GA position at Northern Illinois University in 1994. Carrico ended up getting hired as an assistant athletic trainer at NIU and staying until 1997. Jeff then headed to Huntington, WV to become the assistant athletic trainer at Marshall University and in 1999 he became the Head Athletic Trainer. 2007 Jeff had the opportunity to come home and become the assistant athletic director for sports medicine at the University of Cincinnati working with men's and women's basketball. Carrico then moved on to DePaul University in 2012 working with men's basketball. A 2 year stint at Central Michigan University as an associate athletic trainer with men's basketball and then finally back to EKU as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine until 2023.Currently Jeff is an outreach athletic trainer with UK Health Care in Lexington, KY. He recently received the Award of Merit from the Kentucky Athletic Trainers' Society and was inducted into the Marshall University Sports Medicine Hall of Fame in 2010.He resides in Richmond, KY.

Polly Helm was born and raised in Kentucky. She has a BA from Eastern Kentucky University and a Masters in Organizational Communications from Miami of Ohio. In 1994 she left corporate sales and moved from KY to Wisconsin to start two small businesses with her husband—a retail store and a construction company. They did both for about 10 years and then decided to join efforts and focus on the retail store.They have expanded 3 times and today have a 5000 square foot store in a refurbished barn (parts are new) and a 3000 sq. foot design center next door in an old granary building. Located in a tourist area, their business is very seasonal, so they've faced the challenge of making it a year-round success. Currently, they employ 14 people—5 full time. Polly and her husband have survived the challenges of 2008, the pandemic, and even a six-month highway closure.They also raised their two daughters in the business. In 2017, their oldest daughter Ellie was tragically killed in an ATV accident. Since then, they have started a foundation in her name and dedicated a section of their store where 100% of the profits go to supporting mental health programs in their community. This is the story of interwar preparation–not that the United States realized it was preparing for World War II, new technologies, innovation, and a constant pushing of the limits in the 1930s did indeed help Uncle Sam prepare for the fight to come. To get us into an interwar mindset of praying for peace while preparing for war, Professor Jackson tells us the tale of the B-17 bomber and is then joined by GEN James E. Rainey, Commanding General, U.S. Army Futures Command, to discuss how the current day Army thinks about history to prepare for the future. In this informative conversation, GEN Rainey talks about the lessons, leaders, and innovations from the Army's 250 years of service to the nation that can inform and inspire officers, soldiers, and leaders of all vocations to meet the missions of tomorrow. General James E. Rainey is the Commanding General Commander, Army Futures Command (AFC). Headquartered in Austin, Texas, AFC is the Army's newest major command, responsible for transforming the Army to ensure war-winning future readiness, employing 30,000 Soldiers and Civilians at 128 locations worldwide. In his previous position, General Rainey served at the Pentagon, where he oversaw the Army's operations and plans. General Rainey commissioned as an infantry lieutenant upon graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 1987. He has commanded at every level from platoon to division and has served in numerous combat deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned a master's degree in advanced military arts and science from the School of Advanced Military Studies and another in Public Administration from Troy University. Coretta Brown will be entering her fifth season as a Women's Basketball Assistant Coach at Eastern Kentucky University. She previously served two season as an assistant at Georgia Southern University. Before her time at Georgia Southern Brown was an assistant at the University of West Alabama from 2017 to 2019.Brown launched a new program when she became the first head coach at Thomas University from 2012 to 2017. At Thomas, Brown coached four all-conference players, one freshman of the year, one academic all-conference, two Daktronic-NAIA Scholar Athletes and one honorable mention All-American.She has also had stops at Tennessee Tech (2009-12), Georgia High School Athletics Association (2008-09), Georgia Tech (2006-08) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (2005-06).Brown graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2003 where she received a bachelor of arts degree in African American Studies with a minor in English. She holds the UNC record in three-point shots made (251), which ranks third in ACC history.Brown was drafted 11th overall by the San Antonio Silver Stars in the 2003 WNBA Draft before getting traded to the Indiana Fever where she played for three seasons. She played her final two years with the Chicago Sky in their inaugural season. Young, beautiful, and smart, she was a 23-year-old college student and scholarship runner at Eastern Kentucky University. She was about to start her fifth and final year and was very close to graduating. She was spending the summer living with her older brother Nick in Indianapolis, Indiana, taking some summer classes at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) when she went missing on July 6, 2004. She seemingly vanished without a trace after attending a party at her Westlake apartment complex and leaving with a man named John E. Shelton. More than twenty years later, neither she nor her remains have ever been found. No suspects have ever been officially charged with her disappearance. Ron was also a featured vocalist on NBC's hit television series, “The Sing-Off” (Season 4) with the University of Kentucky “acoUstiKats.”​Vanessa Becker Weig is Co-Founder and Executive Artistic Director of Voices Amplified (formerly known as The Girl Project) and is on the Part-Time Music and Theatre Faculty at Eastern Kentucky University. She trained at the professional actor B.F.A. training program at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and most recently trained with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company at their summer institute through Skidmore College.  She has over 100 directing, choreography, and performance credits. Since moving to Lexington 15 years ago, she has directed or choreographed numerous productions for Voices Amplified, Woodford Theatre,  Leeds Center for the Arts. the School for the Creative and Performing Arts,, and many more including several award-winning productions for the Itheatrics Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta. She was the Education Director for Woodford Theatre from 2015-2019 founding the Woodofrd Theatre Young Artist Program, and served as Artistic Director for the theatre in 2019 and 2020. Prior to moving to Lexington, Vanessa served for ten years as the Education Director and Resident Director/Actor for the Phoenix Theatre (now CATCO). At the Phoenix, she directed, choreographed, and appeared in more than fifty productions and designed and implemented classes, camps, workshops, and in-school residencies. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with High Distinction, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration. Bosse served as Georgetown Police chief for 10 years. Prior to this appointment, he spent 30 years with the Lexington Division of Police, where he retired at the rank of assistant chief of police. In addition to undercover and supervisory experience in narcotics investigations, he spent 20 years working with Kentucky's drug courts, five years working a drug detection K-9, five years as a board member of the Fayette County ASAP Board, three years as chairman of the Mayor's Alliance on Substance Abuse. He has served as a member of Scott County Against Drugs board, has been a member of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals Law Enforcement Committee and was appointed to the NADCP Board of Directors, which conducts research and provides training to our nation's drug courts. Bosse is a certified instructor for the Department of Criminal Justice Training and is recognized by both Federal and State courts as an expert in police administration, including the use of force by police. Bosse has reviewed thousands of uses of force by police and has prepared reports in state and federal courts on over 50 occasions.
