They will also discuss how the burden of ancestral trauma is passed down through many generations and isn't created by one of us alone. Exploring the role each of us has in building awareness of the patterns, and actively working to reroute our thoughts and behaviors to break harmful family cycles. Episode Details: [3:22] Abuela Madrigal. Introduction of the family matriarch and her role in perpetuating the family's ancestral wounds. [11:47] Mirabel. Our main character and unintentional cycle-breaker. [18:22] Luisa. Arguably the most relatable character to many; she is the strong, independent, overachieving woman who holds so much on her back.     In today's show Lydia + Sarah discuss love and belonging and boundaries and how those fit into being in relationship with others. They share real life examples and offer some great tools towards the end of the show to help you assess where you are in the relationships in your life. Episode Tool: Grab a sheet of paper and turn it landscape. Create 5 columns with a header for each column: Column 1: True believers: these people make up your fan club and celebrate your successes with you. Column 2: Confidants: these people are your sounding board. you can talk intimately with them about your life and your path. Column 3: Way showers: these people are your role models, people you know or admire from afar. Column 4: Messengers: these people deliver valuable information to help provide you with forward momentum. Column 5: Naysayers: these people are often negative, critical or unsupportive about your life and choices. Think about all the people in your life and write which column would they fit into. Then, spend some time reflecting on this. Is there someone who is close to you that is really a negative force in your life that causes you to question yourself? Do you have more true believers who have your back than you realized? Get curious!     In today's show Lydia + Sarah share the story of how this podcast came to be, discuss the COVID19 pandemic and its impact on us, and share thoughts and ideas about how to be in relationship with yourself. Here are some of the tools and journal prompt we discuss in the show: Journal/Reflection Questions: How am I talking to myself? How do I show myself love? How do I prioritize my needs? Where do I need boundaries in my life + relationships? Tools: If your self-talk is negative, stop yourself and act as if you are talking to a friend instead. What would you say to your friend if they were going through this same thing? Shame voice versus guiding voice. Ask yourself which you are using. First step after you listen to this podcast is to be aware of how you are speaking to yourself. Give your shame voice and guiding voice a name. If you don't want the shame voice to run the show today close your eyes and visualize yourself putting that voice (person) in the closet and actively choosing not to listen to it today.
