In this transformative conversation with Holly Copeland the concept of 'rewilding' oneself. Holly shares her journey from being an ecologist to exploring alternative healing methods after experiencing health challenges. The discussion delves into the four core principles of inner rewilding: awakening, attuning, allowing, and aligning with one's wild heart. The episode emphasizes the importance of connecting with nature, surrendering to the flow of life, and recognizing the universe's guidance in our personal journeys. In this conversation, Holly and I explore the importance of self-connection, meditation, and various healing practices. We discuss how meditation can help calm the mind and enhance self-awareness, emphasizing the significance of coherence and resonance in achieving mental clarity. The conversation also touches on alternative healing modalities, the power of breathwork, and the necessity of self-compassion in navigating life's challenges. Ultimately, we highlight the interconnectedness of all beings and the importance of nurturing one's own heart and spirit. Let's break it down… Key Points: Rewilding is about connecting with one's inner self and nature. Holly Copeland's journey illustrates the power of alternative healing. Awakening involves recognizing our essential beingness beyond the localized self. Attuning to the universe requires listening and being present. Surrendering to what is can lead to enlightenment and peace. The universe mirrors our path and guides us through resonance. Every day is a ceremony; morning practices set the tone for the day. Trusting the process can lead to unexpected miracles. Connection with nature is essential for healing and self-discovery. Spend a few minutes each day to list your tasks. Meditation can lead to profound insights and calmness. Having a meditation teacher can enhance your practice. Coherence between brainwaves and breath is essential for meditation. Breathwork is a powerful tool for regulating the nervous system. Self-compassion is crucial for personal growth. We often forget to give ourselves the kindness we offer others. The universe reflects our inner state of being. Alternative healing practices can support overall wellness. Gratitude and connection to the Earth are vital for happiness. Letting Go of Thinking: Why Your Best Ideas Happen in the Shower

Creative Caffeine

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 25, 2025 2:06

There's a subtle lesson as to why our best thinking arrives in the shower. It's a multiple of effects all happening at once. The first is that you're not intending to think about anything in particular. This “release” from our problem-solving mind seems to allow to actually… solve problems for you. But done in a holistic manner that skips the direct logic of pouring energy through the known problem space. The second is the heat. You're relaxed. You're no longer in the rush or the stress of the day and that gives your system a chance to calm down. Strangely, the calm also works well for solving big problems in simple, effective ways. Stress as a stimulus may give your work more distance, but perhaps not more depth.Third, is the sound. There's a white-noise effect, a hum of the water pressure and splash of the droplets. Attuning to this sound, you center yourself unconsciously into a type of meditative state. This meditative state anchors to sound, the consistency of it allows you to drop into a more open state giving you some separation from your thoughts. You can take a few lessons from this confluence of factors – that you have a system of senses that are all intelligent. That your mind-based logic is only one system and is a blunt tool. That your environment matters for your consciousness and your experience of being. And – that turning away from something is also a useful method for working through something.

"Every small shift you make has a ripple effect on your child's well-being."Pam King's Key TakeawaysWe're inherently wired for connection, and our brains store all of our relational history.Rupture is inevitable, but our capacity for repair can strengthen our bonds with each other when we make the effort to reconnect.Thriving involves and integrates all our most intense emotions. We get closer to thriving when we can learn to regulate and integrate our inner emotional experience.Attuning and paying attention to our nervous system is a core emotional and relational skill—and goes a long way in healthy, intimate relationships. We were all children once. We were all parented, for better or for worse. Send us a textGreat criminal defense is like delivering clients excellent results while balanced on a pinnacle thousands of feet above the ground below. For that reason, Fairfax criminal / Virginia DUI attorney Jon Katz has invited Zen priest and former New York City emergency room physician Wendy Lau, M.D., who went from computer technology to medical school, and, after burnout, to the Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe. Effective criminal defense lawyers in so many ways are like emergency room physicians, single-mindedly reaching out to their patients as verbal bows and arrows can be flying -- or seem to be flying -- from all directions. Wendy has experienced having one patient die, only to still have a roster of other patients to help in the very next moment. She repeatedly takes on the treacherous journey to provide highly needed free healthcare to people in remote areas of Nepal. A recent documentary on that Nomads Clinic work -- Into the Heart of the Mountain -- is available here. Wendy teaches the practice of G.R.A.C.E.- Gathering attention, Recalling intention, Attuning to self and others, Considering what will serve, Engaging and ending.  Physicians and everyone else will benefit from Wendy's Inner Practice of Medicine book. Wendy welcomes donations to the Upaya Zen scholarship fund bearing her name. This podcast with Fairfax, Virginia criminal / DUI lawyer Jon Katz is playable on all devices at podcast.BeatTheProsecution.com. Through that journey he let go of my painful past, dropped labels that didn't serve, and become FREE of much of the autopilot beliefs he was operating from. From that point on, he has felt it's his mission to empower other people to know that they are high vibrational beings that can become FREE of the past pain and past negative experiences. She will address how she uses movement practices, including yoga (hatha, vinyasa, restorative) and qigong, which she offers to a wide range of age groups, including elders, adults, and teens, through community-based programs. Chia-Ti will share her personal journey of resilience - — from factors of developmental safety to learning how to move from anxious attachment to secure attachment in relationships as an adult. In her teaching, Chia-Ti emphasizes that presence, groundedness, and play are just as essential, if not more so, than the content itself, as they help create a transformative experience for her students. Chia-Ti's wisdom about the body will be expanded in her interview with Resiliency Within. Chia-TI states, “When we have experienced trauma or chronic stress, our bodies may learn the habit of constantly bracing, constricting, and tensing. Bracing is a natural protection against threats. For example, we may get startled by a loud noise, and the body may respond by tensing up. But when there isn't a threat, can we develop a sense of softening and letting go? In other words, can we learn how to attune to safety within ourselves and our environment?” She will help us understand the connections between mind and body and how to understand our nervous systems. Chia-Ti believes that when we can attune to and access safety and connection, we can begin to support ourselves and others. We can increase our embodiment of resilience. We can trust, hope, and feel — these beautiful markers of being human.

Hail Hekate Triformis, The Triple Goddess. The Unifying The Three Selves Meditation is a foundational practice for connecting with Hekate while aligning our personal energy field consisting of The Three Selves. These three selves represent the lower self (root), the middle self (heart), and the higher self (crown). The meditation process involves connecting with one's breath, relaxing the body, and focusing on the root, heart, and crown selves. By contemplating Hekate Triformis, we perceive our own tri-fold nature mirrored in her three forms. The soft, wise, grounded Kirsten CoBabe is on the pod today to support and teach us how to attune to our teens (and ourselves!) as we navigate this dicey and impactful chapter in our parenting journey. This podcast got very big, deep and philosophical, but I think that's what we must do when parenting teens? Oh the bigness required! What I especially love about the teen years (and Kirsten and I want everyone to know this!) is that the brain undergoes significant growth and development, including a pruning process that removes unused connections and strengthens others. So if we were struggling in their toddler years, if we didn't have the knowledge or the healthy nervous system to support them, we get a second chance to deeply positively impact them in the teen years. YESWe discuss the developmental growth happening in the teenage body and brain that is widely misunderstood by the culture-- which includes the heightened necessity of our own attunement and resonance, how to empower them to express their needs, how to lean into the self-involvement that is a developmentally necessity, how to connect with them, and how to support ourselves in this entire process (always!). This is one of my favorite conversations, Kirsten is a wise delight and you will be soothed and inspired whether you're IN the teen zone or it's comin' for you. Kirsten lives in Hawaii where she has her Teen and Parent Whispering Practice, and supports families all over the globe. Her Instagram is @kirstencobabe where you can find her gentle wisdom for parents in this pivotal chapter.
