This powerful continuation moves from awareness to transformation—showing how lasting leadership growth begins within.Coach Winn unpacks how mindfulness helps leaders recognize excuses before they become entrenched beliefs, and why self-judgment only slows progress. She reframes accountability as a deep act of care—not control—and explains how great leaders hold others responsible because they believe in their potential. Send a textIn Part One of this conversation, Chris Comeaux is joined by leadership coach, former Olympic athlete, and longtime collegiate coach Sherry Winn for a deeply personal and practical exploration of leadership that begins from the inside out. Sherry challenges traditional, performance-driven leadership models by naming self-awareness as a true leadership superpower, sharing how it transformed her own life—from depression and despair to purpose, clarity, and impact.Drawing from her Olympic experience and decades of coaching leaders in sports, healthcare, and corporate environments, Sherry explains why leaders cannot give what they do not have. She emphasizes that personal growth, emotional awareness, and intentional self-reflection are foundational to effective leadership—not optional extras. Through vivid stories and real-world examples, she illustrates how unexamined habits, emotional addictions, and limiting beliefs quietly shape how leaders show up, often keeping them stuck in stress, frustration, and overwhelm.A central theme of Part One is Sherry's reframing of fear as the absence of love. Rather than dismissing fear, she invites leaders—especially those in high-stakes fields like healthcare and caregiving—to examine what they are feeding their minds, how they relate to pressure, and whether they are leading from compassion, empathy, and responsibility instead of blame or control. The conversation also explores accountability as a source of power, not punishment, and highlights the long-term, often invisible victories of leadership that show up years later in the lives of others.Part One sets the foundation for a two-part conversation by establishing a core truth: leadership transformation doesn't start with changing circumstances—it starts with changing how leaders see themselves.Guest: Sherry Winn, CEO of The Winning Leadership CompanyHost: Chris Comeaux, President / CEO of TELEIOSThe Anatomy of Leadership podcast explores the art and science of leadership through candid, insightful conversations with thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers from a variety of industries. Ever feel like your team has more to give—and you can't quite unlock it? We dig into the uncomfortable truth that many leaders become bottlenecks without meaning to, then map a path to becoming a catalyst who unlocks energy, ownership, and momentum. With award-winning leadership and high performance coach Tracy Clark, we examine why strategy and skills (the “trunk”) only go so far, and how deeper work in mindset, self-awareness, and identity (the “roots”) drives real, sustained results.Tracy shows how to close the gap between intention and impact by starting in the mirror. We get tactical about identity—moving from “think differently” to “be differently”—through immersive play, a one-line identity anchor like “I am a determined catalyst,” and a simple pre-meeting reset that shifts your state on demand. We also unpack her three-part definition of play as intense curiosity, radical open-mindedness, and proactive experimentation. Expect practical moves: rule-flipping core assumptions, designing low-risk tests, and letting silence do the work so your team steps up.The conversation goes beyond personal change to collective momentum. We explore how to create a “team of catalysts” with shared behaviors that make independent thinking normal: surfacing tensions early, challenging assumptions weekly, shipping small experiments fast, and measuring learning alongside results. Along the way we connect empathy and deep listening to performance, drawing on ideas popularized by Chris Voss and the enduring truth that people remember how you make them feel.If you're ready to trade control for trust, certainty for curiosity, and busyness for leverage, this one's for you. Listen, choose your one-word identity for the week, and try the catalyst experiment in your next meeting. If it sparks an insight, share the episode with a leader who needs it, subscribe on your favorite podcast app or YouTube, and leave a review to help others find the show.

This week, I welcome Shanna Hocking to the podcast to talk about her new research in higher education and what's holding women back in university advancement. You might be surprised that the answer is disturbingly simple. Here are my favorite takeaways: The Crisis in Higher Education Leadership: A shift is needed from a scarcity mindset focused only on fundraising to a focus on leadership and culture as the key to success. The profession is at a crossroads, needing to re-evaluate what has historically worked versus what is needed for the future, especially post-pandemic. Structural Barriers for Women Leaders: Despite being the majority of the advancement profession, women hold fewer than 35% of Chief Advancement Executive roles at top universities. The biggest barrier to success for women in these roles isn't personal inadequacy but organizational structures and systems that weren't built for their success. The Critical Gap in Onboarding and Inclusion: Over 70% of women Chief Advancement Executives report no formal onboarding support (coaching, training, professional development). This lack of intentionality contributes to lasting stress and negatively affects their view of the organization. Furthermore, unconscious biases manifest in subtle ways, such as being excluded from informal, powerful "in-group" conversations. The solution isn't to "blow up" the system but to focus on small, intentional, and consistent acts of inclusion and systems change. Connect with Shanna at hockingleadership.com.

In this episode of Paradigm Shifting Books, hosts Stephen and Britain Covey are joined by leadership expert Liz Wiseman, author of ‘Multipliers'. SEASON 11 The High Performing Leader Daily Leadership Lessons and Tips
In this eye-opening episode of Helping Organisations Thrive, we talk with Angela Cox, founder of Paseda 360 coach training academy, multi-award winning executive coach, therapist, and two-time bestselling author. Angela shares her powerful journey from corporate exhaustion to authentic leadership, revealing how she transformed her life after walking away from a lucrative consulting role when the weight of "pretending" became unbearable. Her story of losing eight stones while searching for fulfillment, only to realise that external changes couldn't fix internal disconnection, sets the stage for a profound exploration of workplace authenticity. Angela unveils her groundbreaking research showing that 97% of leaders wear masks at work, identifying four primary personas: the Perfectionist (driven by fear of mistakes), the People Pleaser (seeking approval at all costs), the Persecutor of Self (engaging in constant self-blame), and the Persecutor of Others (deflecting blame when things go wrong). She explains how these protective mechanisms, born from our fundamental need to belong and avoid rejection, create an exhausting cycle that hampers both individual resilience and organisational effectiveness. The conversation provides practical tools for breaking free from these patterns, including exercises to build self-value and self-trust, while acknowledging the challenging but ultimately rewarding journey of removing the masks we've worn for decades to reveal our authentic leadership potential. In this episode, we tackle a critical leadership gap — the missing interpersonal skills no one teaches but everyone needs. We explore why great leadership isn't reserved for titles or positions — it's something every person deserves at home, work, and in the community. Our conversation dives into Richard Reid's book, Charisma Unlocked, which breaks the myth that charisma is something you're born with. Instead, charisma is a learnable skill built on four key pillars: Presence — the ability to be fully engaged in the moment Power — projecting confidence without dominance Warmth — connecting with genuine care Competence — earning trust through your skills We unpack how these pillars amplify your impact in leadership, business, negotiations, and personal relationships. As Reid shares, charisma isn't just an advantage — it's a leadership “force multiplier” that helps you connect, influence, and inspire authentically. You'll hear practical steps on mastering first impressions, nonverbal communication, and building emotional connections that people won't forget — echoing Maya Angelou's wisdom that people remember how you made them feel. Whether you're leading a team, making your next pitch, or stepping into a tough conversation, this episode gives you actionable insights from Charisma Unlocked to help you unlock your influence and grow your authentic leadership style. In this episode, we're discussing... Coaching, whether for individuals or teams, offers significant benefits for personal and professional growth. Understanding your strengths (and weaknesses) is crucial for effective leadership and building well-rounded teams. Tools like the CliftonStrengths assessment and the Six Types of Working Genius can aid in this process. Entrepreneurs often struggle with the mindset of doing everything themselves, but recognizing and delegating tasks based on strengths leads to greater efficiency and passion. Burnout can stem from various factors, including company culture. Prioritizing well-being, engaging strengths at work, and maintaining healthy relationships are essential. Sometimes, a change in environment might be necessary. Team workshops, when intentionally designed to build a common language around strengths and foster interaction, can be powerful tools for team cohesion and understanding individual contributions. Investing in coaching is not an expense but an investment in oneself and the growth of a business or career.
