The scary part is as many as 9 in 10 adults with chronic kidney disease don't know they have it. And about 1 in 3 adults with severe chronic kidney disease aren't aware of their condition. The bigger problem is those with kidney disease usually don't experience symptoms until the very late stages. When their kidneys are failing or when there are large amounts of protein in their urine. And when people develop chronic kidney disease (CKD), their kidneys become damaged and over time may not clean the blood as well as healthy kidneys. If your kidneys don't work well, toxic waste and extra fluid accumulate in the body and may lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, and early death.
