Since SACM's establishment in the 1960's, it has expanded into an umbrella mission allowing it to meet the broader needs of the community. SACM works alongside many other ministries, but specifically collaborates extensively with Gospel 101, Hearts of Hope Christian Ministries and Teach Love Care Network. The leaders of these organizations have all been called to serve the Lord in different aspects of ministry work, but they all share that same underlying mission that Christ himself had: to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10).

He was born into a broken mess of a culture, God's people had wandered far from their faith. On a routine trip to the temple, Josiah's secretary Shannan is presented with a lost book of God's Law. When confronted with its contents, Josiah recognizes the significance of the people's sin and his own choices. He considers how far the people have drifted from their calling as a light to the world. He chooses to humble himself before God and create reminders which redirect the people's hearts to the One True King. Visible reminders can protect us from drifting. What reminders do you need to create in order to redirect your heart and eyes to Jesus? What would it take for you to change in order to have legacy like Josiah's? What would it look like for you to put your name in this commendation? 2 Kings 23:25 “Neither before nor after ________________ was there a Christian like them who turned to the Lord as they did-with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength.”

Failure doesn't need to be a hitching post to tie us to the past. Failure can be a guidepost to lead us into the future. The Bible has never told us to dedicate self. We are to deny self. A. Peter's strongest point – Courage B. Abraham's strongest point – Faith C. Moses' strongest point – Meekness D. David's strongest point – Integrity 1. In times of failure, we need to see the Sovereignty of Jesus. “Faith is believing God in spite of appearances, and obeying God in spite of consequences.” 2. In times of failure, we need to see the Sympathy of Jesus. Jesus does not change you so He can love you. He loves you so He can change you. 3. The Morning Worship Service at Plainfield Christian Church in Comstock Park, MI Preacher: Bruce Wilson Youth Minister: Josh Antonopulos Children's Minister: Wade Harrier Worship Leader: Katie Winstanley Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” - (Matthew 26:38) I wish you could have met me when I was a teenager, because I knew everything then. I would have had an answer for any question you may have asked. But now that a few years have passed, I don't know as much as I once did. The fact is that I didn't know as much as I thought I knew back then. And after more than forty-nine years of ministry, I have found that one of the best things you can do for a hurting person is to just be there. Sometimes when we don't know what to say, we simply don't show up. That is wrong. Just being there means a lot to someone who is suffering. When the time of Jesus' crucifixion drew near, He went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He knew exactly what was waiting for Him. He knew they would crucify Him. Worst of all, being God, He knew He would have to bear all the sins of the world. So Jesus went to Gethsemane and took Peter, James, and John along. Then He told them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me” (Matthew 26:38). Yes, Jesus is God. But He actually asked for His three friends to stay with Him and watch with Him during this time. If you're speaking to a grieving person, it's often good to simply say something like “I love you” or “I am here” or “I am praying for you.” If they don't want to talk, don't talk. Don't try to explain things, because explanations never heal a broken heart. Just sit there with them. We have to avoid the easy answers and clichés when we're trying to comfort the suffering, because if we aren't careful, we may add to their pain. Fleshly that regards others as a threat. B. Spiritual attitude that believes I should be a servant to others. 1. The old nature knows no law. 2. The new nature needs no law Legalism, License or Love A. Legalism means you live under the Law - the Law is your master. B. License is throwing off all restraint. 1. Freedom turned upward means God is glorified. 2. Freedom turned outward means I can serve you. 3. Freedom turned inward, becomes license. The Law of Love Unless there is love, there will not be true service. We are to serve in love because we delight in doing it, not because we have to do it. Do you just want a religion that is surface only? Or do you want a relationship to the living Lord that is deep and abiding?

In Hebrews 11, his accomplishments are showcased and his motivation for doing so was by faith. The history surrounding his birth in Exodus 1-2 shows a violent and hostile Pharaoh attempting to defeat and oppress the Hebrew people. Fortunately for Moses, the King of Egypt's attempts to thwart God's plan failed. What worked against Pharaoh were compassionate and courageous women living by faith. Men and women, mothers and fathers are called to live by faith, just as they did! BY FAITH: Protect your child's heart from evil. Is it a popular game that's filled with vile content? Is it music that doesn't align with your values? Is it a friendship that needs boundaries? BY FAITH: Spend time with the next generation. There are young adults you can guide and encourage. There are students of all ages who would benefit from your experiences. There are young couples who need prayers and support.

I have never met anyone who tithed who did not say at some time it has been extremely difficult… Generous people seem to be the happy ones. Miserly people seem to be the unhappy ones. The critical spirit is with those who are not giving people. Just look around you and you can tell. --Ben Haden S T B E N E F I T S W B A L A N C E R D R E S P O N S I B I L I T Y H I P A R T N E R S Stewardship The Missing Piece to Successful Living 1. Our unwillingness to tithe certainly is a contradiction to this truth. The Lord spoke through Moses and said, “The tithe…is the Lord's!” (Leviticus 27:30) Exclamation point – not a question mark. That statement means that 10% of our income should be given each week, or each month, to the work of the Lord through His church. The other 90% should also be managed wisely. Five Biblical Reasons Every Christian Should Be a Tither OBEDIENCE Genesis 14:20 tells us that Abraham tithed before the Law was given by Moses at Sinai. Malachi 3:10 summarizes what the Law required. Everyone was required to tithe everything they had. Matthew 23:23 shows us that our Lord Jesus recommended everyone to tithe. I Corinthians 16:2 indicates that tithing is still a part of God's expectations from his children. HONESTY In Malachi 3:8-10 the Bible teaches that if we do not tithe, we are robbing God! Isn't it unthinkable that a Christian would steal from anyone – much less, his God? We must continually remind ourselves that we do not give the tithe – we simply return it! It already belongs to God. LOVE In John 14:15 Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Nothing will loosen the purse strings like good, old fashioned Christian love! We give the best gifts to those we love! GRATITUDE In Psalm 116:12-14 the Lord reminds us that since we have received so much, we should respond by giving much! We have received God's Son, His salvation, His presence, His blessings, and we will receive His Heaven…How can we think of giving Him less than a tithe? FAITH God has promised a blessing to those who are faithful in the Stewardship of Giving! See Malachi 3:10-11; Proverbs 3:9-10; Matthew 6:33; Luke 6:38. Faith in God's promises is reflected by obedience to His Word! REQUIREMENT “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…” RESPONSE “…and test me now in this…” REWARD “…open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” (Malachi 3:10) My Response – My commitment to tithe is based upon the following truths: God owns everything (my tithe is returned, not given). God expects me to tithe (Malachi 3:10). God promises to meet the needs of a faithful steward (tithing is an issue of trust). Therefore, I commit the first 10% of my income to the Lord through Plainfield Christian Church. ( ) I will begin tithing ( ) I already tithe ( ) I would like to set up a Breeze account to give online. Learn more at https://www.pccmi.org/ Songs: CCLI #2228009 That's the title of an old song whose lyrics go like this: “I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful shore, Very deeply stained within, Sinking to rise no more, But the master of the sea, Heard my despairing cry, From the waters lifted me, Now safe am I” I was reminded of that song as I was reading from the Book of Job – chapters 23-24. Take the time to read through these two chapters—they're magnificent! Job's first theme seems to be, "I am unable to locate the presence of God, but I trust You, Lord." I find that coming through loud and clear in the first twelve verses of chapter 23. It seems that Job has a courtroom in mind. "I wish I knew the bench on which Almighty God sits. I wish I knew where I could locate Him. Some place—anyplace—on this earth that I could get to Him." There is a wonderful truth in these words, that reveal a truly remarkable thing about our God. When we stop running and rebelling. When we finally surrender our will to His. When we turn around and come to Him just as we are, we never hear Him shout, "Shame on you!" God hears our pleading, our feelings of need, and He is quick to respond, "I forgive you. I love you. I understand you. I'm here; I commend you for facing the truth." Notice how Job refers to the Lord's response: “Would He contend with me by the greatness of His power? No, surely He would pay attention to me. There the upright would reason with Him; And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.” (Job 23:6–7) All of God's people need to learn this valuable truth from our God. When people come, open and vulnerable with their confession, there is one appropriate three-word response: “I forgive you.” They don't need to be put on the spot or shamed because they failed. They need the assurance of forgiveness. Job asks, "Would He contend with me?" Then he answers himself, "He would not contend with me, even though He's much more powerful. He would pay attention to me. I could reason with Him, and I would be delivered forever from my Judge." How wonderful is that? If someone confesses wrong, there's one appropriate response: I forgive you
