This morning Pastor Ryan continues our Stewardship Series on Miracle Offering Sunday with his sermon, "What Do You Sacrifice for the Lord?"
Today we begin a three-week series called Money Talks and Lot is our focus. Lot, Abraham's nephew. Lot, whose wife famously became a pillar of salt. Lot, whose life shows us money's dark side. There is much to learn!
Fr. Andrew invites us to consider our response to 1 Chronicles 29 in the conclusion of our stewardship series.
In this special episode for World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, we welcome Dr. Grace Barnes, a specialty registrar in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, for an insightful discussion about her journey in medicine and her work in microbiology. In this World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week episode, we meet Bee Yean Ng, the lead antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. Starting her journey in Malaysia and completing her pharmacy degree through a partnership with the University of Strathclyde, Bee shares her transition from community pharmacy training to hospital practice. Despite initial challenges in making this sector switch, her positive mindset and flexibility to relocate helped her seize new opportunities. During her foundational years at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Bee worked under the mentorship of Claire Brandish and Kate Russell-Hobbs, who helped shape her clinical development. Bee's career took an international turn when she became involved with the Commonwealth Partnership for Antimicrobial Stewardship grant, working between the UK and Uganda. This experience, combined with the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Global Health Fellowship, sparked her passion for global health and led to her first publication. Now at Oxford, she leads a partnership with Kilifi County Referral Hospital in Kenya, demonstrating her growth from team member to project leader. In this World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week episode, Neha Voralia shares her journey from community pharmacy to becoming an advanced anti-infectives pharmacist. Starting at Northampton General Hospital, she discovered her passion for antimicrobial stewardship through working with complex diabetic foot infections and surgical patients. Neha discusses her transition to paediatric antimicrobial stewardship at Great Ormond Street Hospital, highlighting the unique challenges of managing resistant infections in children, from dosing complexities to medication adherence. Now working at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, she reflects on the evolving nature of antimicrobial pharmacy and her aspirations in infectious diseases. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Antimicrobial stewardship requires extensive knowledge of bacteria, resistance patterns, and complex patient factors. Paediatric antimicrobial management presents unique challenges, from dose calculations to medication adherence strategies. The role extends beyond clinical work to include guideline development, infection prevention, and regional collaboration. Tertiary centers manage particularly complex cases where standard guidelines may not apply. Professional development opportunities in antimicrobial stewardship include research, conference presentations, and global health initiatives. In this special episode of Pharmacist Diaries, recorded live during World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, I welcome back Claire Brandish, a distinguished leader in antimicrobial stewardship and global health. Claire Brandish currently works as the Lead Anti-Infectives pharmacist at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and Senior Antimicrobial Resistance Technical Advisor for the Commonwealth Pharmacist Association. In her role, she supports the Fleming funded Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship Scheme (CwPAMS). As a Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Global Health Fellow, Claire has successfully delivered three CwPAMS projects between the NHS and health-partners in the UK and Uganda. Named a "Woman to Watch" in 2021 by the Pharmaceutical Journal, Claire works as an independent prescriber and actively participates in regular antimicrobial stewardship ward rounds as part of the multidisciplinary team. Key Takeaways - Global health partnerships offer valuable opportunities for professional growth and knowledge exchange - Success in healthcare leadership requires continuous learning, mentorship, and willingness to step outside comfort zones - Effective antimicrobial stewardship requires collaboration across multiple healthcare sectors and disciplines - Personal development and career progression often involve overcoming challenges and maintaining resilience HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT LIFE OUTSIDE THE TRADITIONAL 9-5? In this World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) episode, Rachel Berry shares her journey from hospital pharmacist to antimicrobial stewardship specialist. Her passion deepened when her young son was diagnosed with leukemia, highlighting the critical importance of effective antibiotics in modern medicine. Now working at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) as a Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Fellow, Rachel combines her clinical expertise with national policy work. The conversation covers the evolution of pharmacy practice, the value of independent prescribing qualifications, and the urgent need to preserve antimicrobial effectiveness for future generations. 5 key takeaway messages: Antimicrobial resistance is an immediate threat affecting patient outcomes today, not a future concern. Pharmacy careers can evolve from ward-based roles to national policy influence through continuous development. Working with chronic conditions provides invaluable experience in managing complex infections and building patient relationships. National leadership programs like the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer's Fellowship enable pharmacists to shape healthcare policy. Career advancement can be strategically timed with different life stages without compromising family commitments. HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT LIFE OUTSIDE THE TRADITIONAL 9-5? I've never met anybody who tithed very long, who gave it up. I have never met anyone who tithed who did not say at some time it has been extremely difficult… Generous people seem to be the happy ones. Miserly people seem to be the unhappy ones. Our unwillingness to tithe certainly is a contradiction to this truth. The Lord spoke through Moses and said, “The tithe…is the Lord's!” (Leviticus 27:30) Exclamation point – not a question mark. That statement means that 10% of our income should be given each week, or each month, to the work of the Lord through His church. The other 90% should also be managed wisely. Five Biblical Reasons Every Christian Should Be a Tither OBEDIENCE Genesis 14:20 tells us that Abraham tithed before the Law was given by Moses at Sinai. Malachi 3:10 summarizes what the Law required. Everyone was required to tithe everything they had. Matthew 23:23 shows us that our Lord Jesus recommended everyone to tithe. I Corinthians 16:2 indicates that tithing is still a part of God's expectations from his children. HONESTY In Malachi 3:8-10 the Bible teaches that if we do not tithe, we are robbing God! Isn't it unthinkable that a Christian would steal from anyone – much less, his God? We must continually remind ourselves that we do not give the tithe – we simply return it! It already belongs to God. LOVE In John 14:15 Jesus said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Nothing will loosen the purse strings like good, old fashioned Christian love! We give the best gifts to those we love! GRATITUDE In Psalm 116:12-14 the Lord reminds us that since we have received so much, we should respond by giving much! We have received God's Son, His salvation, His presence, His blessings, and we will receive His Heaven…How can we think of giving Him less than a tithe? FAITH God has promised a blessing to those who are faithful in the Stewardship of Giving! See Malachi 3:10-11; Proverbs 3:9-10; Matthew 6:33; Luke 6:38. Faith in God's promises is reflected by obedience to His Word! REQUIREMENT “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…” RESPONSE “…and test me now in this…” REWARD “…open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” (Malachi 3:10) My Response – My commitment to tithe is based upon the following truths: God owns everything (my tithe is returned, not given). God expects me to tithe (Malachi 3:10). God promises to meet the needs of a faithful steward (tithing is an issue of trust). Therefore, I commit the first 10% of my income to the Lord through Plainfield Christian Church. ( ) I will begin tithing ( ) I already tithe ( ) I would like to set up a Breeze account to give online. Series: Above & BeyondPart 3: Serving: Staying in CirculationSermon by: Bro. Chris CarterScripture: 1 Peter 4:10-11In this installment of the Stewardship Series, Above and Beyond, Bro. Chris Carter focuses on 1 Peter 4:10-11. The sermon begins with a thought-provoking comparison between Christianity and a bowl of lima beans, emphasizing the need for the Church to demonstrate God's love and power to the world.Bro. Chris emphasizes that Christians are saved to serve, challenging the idea that many are more concerned with where they'll sit in church than where they'll serve. The core message centers on the concept of spiritual gifts and their purpose in serving others. Each believer receives spiritual gifts, which are not for individual glory but for the common good and to build up the body of Christ.Through poignant illustrations and biblical references, the sermon underscores the importance of actively giving and serving within the church community. It highlights that our gifts, whether natural or spiritual, are meant to be used to benefit others and bring glory to God. The ultimate goal is to live, speak, serve, and love in a way that God receives all the credit.

Series: Above & BeyondPart 2: Giving First Fruits to GodSermon by: Bro. Chris CarterIn this sermon, which is part of a Stewardship Series, Bro. Chris Carter discusses the importance of giving first fruits to God. He emphasizes that handling money is a test from God and reflects our priorities, loyalties, and affections. The sermon identifies three patterns of life-giving firsts:1. The Pattern of the Firstborn: According to Exodus 13:2, the firstborn belongs to God and must be consecrated or redeemed. This principle extends to giving God the first of one's time, as well.2. The Pattern of First Fruits: Exodus 23:19a and Proverbs 3:9-10 emphasize bringing the best of the first fruits of one's crops to the house of the Lord. This act of honoring God with one's wealth leads to blessings.3. The Pattern of the Tithe: The word "tithe" means a tenth, and it refers to giving the first 10% of one's income. Tithing demonstrates faith in God to provide and acknowledges Him as first in one's life. The sermon underscores that what is given to God is not lost but redeemed, while what is withheld from God leads to loss. It emphasizes the importance of giving to God before knowing if there will be enough, trusting Him to take care of all aspects of life. Tithing is seen as a primary way to acknowledge God as first. The sermon concludes by emphasizing the blessings experienced by tithers and the hope for a day when all church members tithe, eliminating the need for special offerings or fundraising activities.
Series: Above & BeyondPart 2: Giving First Fruits to GodSermon by: Rev. Paul LawlerIn this sermon, which is part of a Stewardship Series, Pastor Paul Lawler discusses the importance of giving first fruits to God. He emphasizes that handling money is a test from God and reflects our priorities, loyalties, and affections. The sermon identifies three patterns of life-giving firsts:1. The sermon draws parallels to the story of the fall of Jericho, where all the spoils were consecrated to the Lord because it was the first city conquered in the Promised Land. Disobedience in taking what was consecrated led to a curse.Pastor Paul quotes Malachi 3:8-9, highlighting the consequences of robbing God by not tithing. They argue that this principle remains relevant, as Jesus also endorsed tithing in Luke 11:42.The sermon concludes by emphasizing the blessings experienced by tithers and the hope for a day when all church members tithe, eliminating the need for special offerings or fundraising activities.
