THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRITContact with death, or even going into a tent where a dead body was, made the Israelite unclean under the Law. The remedy was for water of separation made from the ashes of a red heifer that was offered as a sin offering (Numbers 19)The red heifer was led “forth without the camp”. This pointed forward to Christ (Heb 13:12) who also suffered without the camp and so in Hebrews we are exhorted to go therefore unto him without the camp bearing his reproach. Just as the ashes of the heifer were for the purification of both Jew and gentile – stranger (v10) – the blood of Christ can cover the sins of any. There was no intrinsic virtue in the ashes. It required faith to believe in their efficacy – just like the blood of Jesus.Romans 6:23 states•The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God s eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This was because the Lord Jesus had the opposite effect to the Law. He touched dead bodies and they came alive and was thus far superior to the water of separation (purification) made from the ashes of the Red Heifer•Heb 9:12-14 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?Rather than offering sacrifices, the Lord Jesus taught that the Law was fulfilled in love for others. Love God was the first Great Commandment and•Matt 22:38-40 the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. The Law of Moses was basically honouring God and loving your neighbour and it had been superseded by the Law of Christ.•Those who are led by Spirit are not under the Law( Galatians 5:18)Being led by the Spirit, means believing and practising the commandments of the Lord Jesus, and producing the fruit of the spirit, which is love, joy , peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control and Paul states these are far better than the law. Our Love needs to be like God's perfect love, an unselfish (agape) love.. Agape love is where you are prepared to unselfishly be like the Lord Jesus and give up all for the God you love and His servants, just as God gave His Son for us.1 Corinthians 13:4-8 states that someone showing this kind of love is long suffering, kind, doesn't envy, doesn't brag, or behave badly. They aren't partial nor easily annoyed. With no evil thoughts and hating sin, they are truthful, patient, hopeful and good under pressure. And we can aim to be that kind of person, if we develop the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, striving to have the type of love which God has for us and which we see in His daily care for us and by His gift of His only Son.Paul says•Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:16 .

We believe God loves us and, therefore, we can love. Jesus came to reveal the Father and give us access to Him (John 14:6-7), shaping our understanding of God, people, and the world. ❤️ Our Relationship with God We don't see God as angry or distant but as a loving Father who created us to love us. Even in our rebellion, He pursued us and sent Jesus so we could be restored (John 3:16). We serve Him out of love, walking in grace, not fear.

A full four hours of the main man Caribou, recorded live at The Cause last summer. What more could you want to chase the blues away? Dan Snaith is one of the most enduring figures in 21st century electronic music. From early records as Manitoba, to 2010's Swim (which RA called Album of the Year in a runaway vote), to Grammy-winning 2014 hit album Our Love, as well as ongoing collaborations with Four Tet and dance floor excursions under his Daphni alias, the Canadian DJ-producer is a fixture for a reason. Ahead of a Caribou (Full Band) tour across the UK and Europe starting in February, we can now let loose the full four hour recording of his RA Live from 2024. In it, Snaith goes in hard, rolling out bassy, wobbly and fidgety heaters, running through everything from speed garage and UK funky to Afro house and anthemic deep house. It's what he truly does best: bangers on bangers (and more bangers). Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM38RA6dkMs @caribouband

This Is Not Happening - An Album Of The Month Podcast

Another month, another pod. A very warm and most welcome to Episode 51 of This is Not Happening (TINH), an Album of the Month (AOTM) Podcast. In Part 1 we deep dive into an Album that one of us has chosen and in Part 2 we play 'Spin it or Bin it'.  This is where we pick a theme and each select a song that represents that theme. We judge each others selections by asking the question 'Spin It or Bin It'?This month, in Part 1, Joey sits in the middle of a 'divisive discussion'  focused on Caribou's new album Honey. One of us think it's some of the best of Caribou's work, one of us thinks it's much less than that.In Part 2, Spin It or Bin It, our theme this month is 'Basslines', for once we stipulated no other rules.Part 1 | Caribou | 'Honey'We all love Caribou. There are few artists that sit in the centre of the TINH venn diagram, but Caribou is one of them.  However, we all have different favourite Caribou albums and therefore have different expectations and hopes when it comes to a new Caribou album. The debate is fierce. We cover many topics including how to be fair when an artist produces something we weren't expecting, can you remove the bias of your disappointment and critique the album without bias? Unfortunately, we also end up talking about AI and music too.Listen to the album ... HEREWatch some of the videos for the tracks discussed ...  HEREWatch this short of it going off when Dan drops Honey in a DJ set ... HEREWatch this short of Dan talking about 'Volume' ... HEREBBC Sounds interview with Dan Snaith from this month ... HEREPart 2 | Spin It or Bin It | 'Basslines'The best Spin It or Bin It's are often the simplest. This month, the theme is one word and no extra rules or exclusions, 'Basslines'. However you want to interpret it, it's cool.NJoey chose 'Walk on the Wildside' by Lou ReedNolan chose 'Transitions'   by Dennis FerrerGuy chose '...(nothing but) Flowers' by Talking HeadsDavid chose 'Taxman' by the BeatleHere is a 16 track playlist where we all contribute 4 'basslines' themed tracks to an extended playlist.See you on Episode 52 ...We've been writing the blog for years come and have a look - https://thisisnothappening.net/

LESSON 302Where Darkness Was I Look Upon The Light.Father, our eyes are opening at last. Your holy world awaits us, as our sight is finally restored and we can see. We thought we suffered. But we had forgot the Son whom You created. Now we see that darkness is our own imagining, and light is there for us to look upon. Christ's vision changes darkness into light, for fear must disappear when love has come. Let me forgive Your holy world today, that I may look upon its holiness and understand it but reflects my own.Our Love awaits us as we go to Him, and walks beside us showing us the way. He fails in nothing. He the end we seek, and He the means by which we go to Him.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

The Poco a Poco Podcast with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal

We have to understand that we are going through different journeys. God is doing something completely different in each of our lives and we have to be attentive to that. Let us not be so quick to judge—everything is not as simple as it may seem.  As we continue our journeys through life, we will constantly encounter our own and other people's struggles, flaws, weaknesses, and even sins.  In our Catholic life, there will be a lot of questions that will come our way and in this episode, we'll try to answer a few of them. Here is another one of our Hot Takes episodes that talks about some essential topics that most of us can relate to. In this episode we'll be going through the following topics:  1️⃣ The Experience of Saul: Aging and Transition 2️⃣ Our Love for Home Through the Quirky and the Positive and How It Relates to God 3️⃣ The Confusion About What Is Sin or Not The Poco a Poco podcast happens because of many generous donors, including recurring monthly donations of any amount. Donna Summer – "Bad Girls"

Where darkness was I look upon the Light. Father, our eyes are opening at last. Your holy world awaits us, as our sight is finally restored and we can see. We thought we suffered. But we had forgot the Son whom You created. Now we see that darkness is our own imagining, and light is there for us to look upon. Christ's vision changes darkness into light, for fear must disappear when love has come. Let me forgive Your holy world today, that I may look upon its holiness and understand it but reflects my own. Our Love awaits us as we go to Him, and walks beside us showing us the way. He fails in nothing. He the end we seek, and He the means by which we go to Him. - Jesus Christ in A Course in MIracles, Lesson 302

The Meaning of "love" in Hebrew (Shema 03)

This is our third week studying the powerful Old Testament prayer called “The Shema.” It's a prayer faithfully recited by Jewish believers every morning and evening for centuries. It's a prayer that declares one's devotion to God, and at the same time demonstrates the character of God and shows us how to respond to him. So each week we're highlighting a specific word in the prayer. Today, that word is “love” (“ahava”). Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. When we typically think of the word “love”, the first thing that comes to mind might be an affection or feeling. In our culture, love is an emotion that gets turned on and off. It can be manipulated by people or circumstances. But the word “love” in Hebrew is different. The word is “ahava”. It's not just a feeling or emotion. It's also deeply connected with action. The root of the word in Hebrew is “to give”, literally to give oneself. So this kind of love is not just something that you feel, it is something that you give or you do.God Loved Us and Created Us in His Image So That We Can Love.Last week, we saw that the Lord our God is the one true God. When we look deeply at his nature and attributes, not only is he eternal and supreme:1 John 4:8 ...God is love.Throughout the Bible, God shows us what genuine love is like. This is not just how his love is explained, but we also see God's love on display, seen in: his covenant relationship with his people, his constant protection and guidance for them, his heart of forgiveness. God didn't love the Israelites because they earned it. His love and affection for them is genuine, but it originates from who he is, not who they are. It's who God has always been, which means his love never changes. Jeremiah 31:3 Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.Considering that the word “ahava” means “to give”, God eternally gives of himself to others. His love is not just a sentiment but is central to his activity.Deuteronomy 4:37 Because he loved your ancestors, he chose to bless their descendants, and he personally brought you out of Egypt with a great display of power.God says, “Here's why I rescued your ancestors from slavery. Because I loved them. Here's why I have blessed you. Because I love you.”Back to what we read in the Shema: because God loves us, we can love as well. Genesis 1:27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.Because you and I are created in God's image, we're like him. If God is love, then we can love in a way that reflects God's love. It won't be perfect, but it will reflect God. So let me put it like this: we are CALLED to love God because he is the one true God. We are ABLE to love God - and others - because God made us to reflect him.Remember, this isn't just about the emotional side of knowing God. It's not just what you feel from being in relationship with him…More Than a Feeling, Our Love for God Is Demonstrated in ActionRemember the saying: actions speak louder than words? That applies to our definition of love. Telling someone you love them is sweet, but it means nothing if its just words. Whether or not you actually love that person is proved by your behavior toward them. The same thing applies to our love for God. We can love with affection, with passion, with warm feelings toward him. Worship helps cultivate and express that. But if we love God like it says in the Shema, we put our love for God into...
