Welcome to Class 3 of the "Foundations of Theology" I.Q. Church series taught by Luke and Jake! We're taking a break from our normally scheduled podcast series to bring you this teaching. In this session, we dive deep into two essential aspects of the Christian faith: Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the gift of salvation He brings. We explore how Jesus, being both fully God and fully human, is central to understanding the gospel and our relationship with God. Additionally, we unpack the multi-faceted nature of salvation and its transformative power in the believer's life. Key topics covered in this video: The Incarnation: Jesus as fully divine and fully human, and why that matters for salvation. An exploration of Christological heresies like Docetism, Apollinarianism, Nestorianism, and Monophysitism, contrasted with the orthodox understanding of Christ. Salvation as God's gift: understanding atonement, faith, justification, adoption, and sanctification. The Gift of Salvation: Substitution and Sacrifice: Christ died in our place. Christus Victor: Christ is victorious over sin, death, and evil. Reunion and Recapitulation: Christ reunites us with God and restarts the creation project. Demonstration and Devotion: Christ shows us how to live and influences us toward devotion. We also explore key aspects of salvation: Faith: Belief and allegiance to Christ. Justification: Receiving the gift of grace by faith (Ephesians 2:8-10). Adoption: Being brought into God's family and confirmed as His children (Romans 8:22-25). Sanctification: Growing in holiness and being set apart for God's Kingdom (Hebrews 10:14). Movie Clips for Illustration: We use several movie clips to illustrate the Christological heresies and provide a visual understanding of key concepts before focusing on the correct biblical view of Jesus as one person with two natures.
And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. (Hebrews 11:9 NLT) Among the endless parade of articles you can find online are variations of the “fish out of water” theme: “20 Ways to Spot an American in a Foreign Country”; “10 Eye-Opening Things I Learned When I Moved to Portugal”; “5 Surprising Differences Between Living in New Zealand and Living in Australia”; and so on. The idea behind them is that our citizenship marks us in certain ways, that citizens from a country have certain similarities. In Philippians 3:20, Paul says Christians “are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives” (NLT). In Hebrews 11:9–10, the author says that, as citizens of Heaven, one of the things we have in common is a foreigner status in this world. God calls His people to walk a thin line. We're to influence the world without being influenced by it. To care about the things happening around us without being consumed by them. To make a home here without getting too comfortable in it or too possessive about it. To take care of our daily responsibilities while keeping our focus on things above. To be salt and light in this world without getting caught up in power plays, territorial spats, and political machinations. To care enough about the people in this life to make sure that they join us in the next. Don't think for a second that Christians have no place here. Or that our contributions as foreigners are minimal at best. Imagine how our world would be if there were no believers standing up for what's right or speaking out against what's wrong. God's people are the restraining force. Once we're removed, once the church is taken out of the equation, caught up to meet the Lord in the air at the Rapture, all hell will literally break loose. Until that time, however, we will make our presence felt. And we will remember that our citizenship is in Heaven—and that what awaits us there is beyond compare. Paul wrote, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT). As you get older, the promise of eternal life becomes more and more appealing. When I first became a Christian, what interested me as a seventeen-year-old kid was that I could fill a hole in my heart, that I could find meaning and purpose in my life. But now, as a seventy-two-year-old kid, I rejoice in the fact that when I leave this world, I'll enter God's kingdom. I'll go to Heaven, where my citizenship is. — Listen to the Greg Laurie Podcast Become a Harvest PartnerSupport the show: https://harvest.org/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What do we value—our stocks? Our houses? Our phones? Hebrews warns us that, as He once shook the earth at Mount Sinai, God's going to shake the earth again so that everything that can be shaken will be obliterated. What will remain? Love, salvation, eternal rewards, Jesus, heaven. Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful. What we have, nobody can take away.

“A Greater Kingdom (Hebrews 12:18 - 13:6)" | 12/10/23 by WestHillsChurch
You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai. For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking. They staggered back under God's command: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” Moses himself was so frightened at the sight that he said, “I am terrified and trembling.” No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel. (Hebrews 12:18-24, NLT)

OUR UNSHAKABLE KINGDOM (Hebrews 12:25-29) Central Idea: The unshakable kingdom is founded on the grace of Christ. Purpose: To encourage believers to serve in gratitude for grace. TURNING FROM CHRIST MEANS NO ESCAPE FROM JUDGMENT (12:25-27). GRIPPING GRACE PRODUCES ACCEPTABLE SERVICE (12:28-29). The post Our Unshakable Kingdom Hebrews 12:25-29 appeared first on The Rephidim Project.
Endure by Staying Mindful of the Coming Kingdom . . . I. It gives us a Warning about Rejecting God and His Word! (25-26) II. It reminds us of Our Future Consolation and the World's Future Condemnation! (27) III. It challenges us to a Present Life of Gratitude and Worship! (28-29) Practical Implications o How have you responded to being confronted in past? How can honor God w/ response the next time? o How have you responded to God/His word lately? o What replaces a lifestyle of gratitude and worship for you?

Kingdom (Hebrews 11:13-14; Revelation 21:1-5) by Christ Church Bellingham
In an often challenging world, God encourages us with the truth that this world is not our home. We are living for a better kingdom! in this sermon we will talk about that kingdom and what it looks like to live for it from Hebrews 12:18-29. As you prepare for the message, please read the passage and ask yourself, “What kingdom am I living for? Does my life reflect that kingdom?”
Scripture says that when God spoke on Mt. Sinai, "His voice shook the earth". No wonder why in 1971 Carole King sang, "Earth Move Under My Feet". With over 20,000 earthquakes per year to prove it, this earth has been moving under everyone's feet ever since Moses went up the mountain. Join us this Sunday for our sermon, "Unshakable Kingdom" from Hebrews 12:18-29, where we'll heed the exhortation to warn the world about the second coming of Jesus.

How do you maintain your God-ordained mission in a world that opposes god's ways? You keep running. That's the message that the unknown author of the letter to Hebrews tells his audience in this sermon-like epistle. Originally written to Jewish Christian who were tempted to abandon their Christian faith for the more familiar and safe Jewish faith of their forefathers, the author exhorts his hearers to look to Jesus as he is greater that any prophet, angel, priest, and even the old covenant way of approaching God. so, what does that mean for you and your kingdom mission on the earth? Listen in as Felix chimera Nyika, PhD unravels the message of Hebrews for our times, and this sermon is called The King and the Kingdom, Hebrews 13:1-25.
Expository sermons on the book of Hebrews.
Do you want peace in trials, joy in pain, hope that will follow through on its promises? The author of Hebrews, in 12.27-29, draws insight from the book of Haggai to encourage his people to take hope. Like the Israelites to whom Haggai prophesied, and the early Christians addressed in the book of Hebrews, we need hope for the future when things out of our control threaten to shake our world. As Christians, we are given citizenship in a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Take heart in the truth that those in Christ await a future glory that cannot be taken from us and that we remain unshaken because we have put our trust not in this world--which is passing away--but in Jesus Christ.

Through Jesus we have received both the greater blessing and the greater accountability of the new covenant. In todays passage the writer of Hebrews compares the blessings we receive in Jesus.

December 1 2020 Tuesday All Those Things Will Be Given / Share This Podcast On Your Social Media Ephesians 1:15-23 NLT 'Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God's people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.' Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT 'When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Sunday, 1 December 2019 | Hebrews 10:19-25 // Dave Fellingham | Worship Ushers in the Kingdom // Hebrews was written primarily to the Jews, who were rooted in the Old Testament. The theme of worship predominates Hebrews, as it does the entire bible, Genesis to Revelation. We must worship God holistically, body, soul and spirit. // // Every time revival has come, worship has been an integral component. We see worship in its prophetic context: ushering in the Kingdom of God. The book of Hebrews demonstrates that Old Testament worship is a prototype of what was and is to come.
The writer of Hebrews brings attention to the reality we live in, that is we live in the kingdom of God. In such light we are told to live lovingly towards our fellow brothers and sisters, towards strangers and towards the oppressed and afflicted. Finally we are told to honor marriage and be free from the love of money.
In the third installment of the Heaven on Earth series, Pastor Ken shared how God's place for His people demonstrates the purposes of His kingdom. God's place for His people conditions their purposes, consummates His promises, and culminates in permanency.

Hebrews 10:19-39Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the fresh and living way that he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess, for the one who made the promise is trustworthy. And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works, not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near. For if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins is left for us, but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume God’s enemies. Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace? For we know the one who said, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.” It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.But remember the former days when you endured a harsh conflict of suffering after you were enlightened. At times you were publicly exposed to abuse and afflictions, and at other times you came to share with others who were treated in that way. For in fact you shared the sufferings of those in prison, and you accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy, because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession. So do not throw away your confidence, because it has great reward. For you need endurance in order to do God’s will and so receive what is promised. For just a little longer and he who is coming will arrive and not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I take no pleasure in him. But we are not among those who shrink back and thus perish, but are among those who have faith and preserve their souls.

[03/28]A Wondrous King and Kingdom (Hebrews 12:18~29)
Message from Andrew Baxter on October 14, 2018
Selected Quotes: “We are not in this by ourselves. We have come to be a part of a new community.” “When the temptations of this world come knocking at my door, I remember that Jesus has promised me something better than those things.” “He cannot be shaken. Therefore, we cannot be shaken."
Week 17
Sermon by Kevin Meyer (Series: A Better Life)
Christians are to pursue peace and holiness, and to avoid roots of bitterness. We have come to Zion, not Sinai; we must listen to God and be thankful for receiving an unshakable Kingdom! Let Us Receive the Kingdom | Hebrews 12:15-29 | Encouragement in Hebrews | Sermon Outline Looking carefully lest there be any man that falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled; lest there be any fornication, or profane person, as Esau, who for one mess of meat sold his own birthright. For ye know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected; for he found no place for a change of mind in his father, though he sought it diligently with tears. For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard entreated that no word more should be spoken unto them; for they could not endure that which was enjoined, If even a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned; and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, "I exceedingly fear and quake:" But ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape who turn away from him that warneth from heaven: whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, "Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven." And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain. Wherefore, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we may offer service well-pleasing to God with reverence and awe: for our God is a consuming fire.
