My friend Ace Parlier came on to talk about his latest sci-fi adventure, Voided. It's a fast paced space venture that is sure to be one of your newest favorites. And if you tune in, you may get some hints of what the sequel will be like....

It's tough not to let your mind wander and wonder about who certain people are, why they act the way that they do, what made certain people certain ways. Jim Carrey was an absolute marvel of a comedian, comic and physical actor, and an overall nice guy in the industry. But over the past few years? It's been hard to ignore the drastic changes to the man, his myth, and his whittled down legend. Was he....replaced? I think.....

My pal, author of the Dissonance hexalogy, Aaron Ryan returns to the show after over a year to talk about what it takes to be a creative author in todays writing climate. With the constant development of artificial intelligence and the quagmire that new authors have to navigate in order to be successful, Aaron has a few guiding light insights to offer that are as salient as anyone could want.

Tony Bible is the author of The Photo Jumper, Remember Me, and 100 Micro Fictions with Macro Meaning. He has a detail oriented writing style that meticulously pulls at your heartstrings while making you think, unchaining the impossible to imagine what could be in lieu of what is, was, and will be. The Photo Jumper is most definitely a masterclass in how to write a page turner.

I know what you're thinking......a wild haired History Channel fella hitting that classic meme pose, saying "aliens", right? But rather than ancient aliens or alien conspiracy stories, the dystopia tales where aliens are involved always happen AFTER the aliens have come down, won, and are ruling over us lowly humans in some form or fashion. Need some suggestions on where to start? Dive on in!

I got to sit down with speaker, newspaper columnist, and well renowned author, Barry Maher, to discuss his critically acclaimed horror, The Great Dick and the Dysfunctional Demon. This book is a suspenseful ride, littered with tension and enticing world building the likes of which you might expect to find in The X-Files. Head to Amazon and grab you a copy of this book, because it is easily one of the best reads I have had the pleasure of reading so far this year and I am positive it will be one of your favorites as well!

Whether it be a virus, zombies, or fungus, we are saturated with plague ridden dystopias that are always tons of fun. Its honestly one sub-genre that never seems to feel repetitive.

Probably the most plausible of the choices we have for our dystopian future, our creations are incredibly likely to turn on us! BUT! Will it be due to our own hubris? Will our creations embody all the worst of humanity?

Science fiction is full of sub and branch genres and dystopia fictions are always a lot of fun to dive into and play around with. Fallout in particular!

Making strides in the evolution of modern myth and legend, the Bigfoot has been one of the earliest and most culturally reliable bits of folklore that has embedded itself in humanity worldwide.

I got the chance to talk to author of the Orion's Spur series, Alan Hansen about the first book in his series, Demeter and I had a lot of fun! I could talk to this guy for hours, but I think he has something really enjoyable and important going on with this series. Like we discussed, its important to read for a good laugh and a smile, but if we can shine a little light on something as detrimental as bullying? All the better!

Halloween is one of everyones favorite time of the year! We have tons of classic horror films, radio dramas, short stories, costume parties to get through, all in just a good couple of days! We have a lot of contributing origins to what we have now as the hallowed holiday. And I think my favorite is the idea that we all come together collectively to have a good laugh at what terrifies us, taking away its power over us, all over a few dollar store candy bags. Happy Halloween everyone!

I think these guys are who we think of the most when we think iconic sci-fi heroes. Who can really top Neo or Luke Skywalker? But what sets them apart from me and you, the everyman?

Politics is a fantastic writing tool to use to make a story BIG, because it helps scale whatever is happening in the background of a story. Watch something like The Expanse or Star Trek and you'll see that its something that those shows would not be as great without because politics makes things more relatable, more intriguing, and all the more real.

There is not a single thing that this show does correctly. Coming from the same studio that brought us Fallout, The Boys, Invincible, and a few other great shows? I am beyond disappointed. I'm LIVID! Here's my rant about it.

Whether we dedicate time to creating great tomes of literary works, private journals, academic essays and treatises, we all face the same manner of inhibitions: writers block, envy, self doubt, giving ourselves excuses and ways out of doing what we need to do to succeed. We can overcome these roadblocks, I promise you!

If I cast a spell with a wand and all my problems are solved......did I learn or gain anything? I didnt go on any kind of journey or fact finding mission, I just solved my problems. Is that a build up of hubris? And does it make for lazy story creations?

I've never seen a Disney failure so bad that they PULL MERCH! It certainly does NOT bode well for Disney Lucasfilm whatsoever.

Wouldn't it be great to be able to prove or disprove any and all extraterrestrial conspiracy theories? Just to KNOW for certain whats real and what isn't?

We have had a lot of major disappointments lately. But we dont have to let them color the taste of what we all collectively enjoy as a fanbase!

Breaking news everyone! Reading.....is HARD sometimes! Even for a voracious reader like myself, reading can seem like a chore some days. But why is this? If I'm reading a genre that I love so much, how can that be?

Deadpool x Wolverine is EASILY one of my favorite marvel movies of all time! if not one of my favorite movies in general. We have seen a pretty big dip in the attention people are giving to the MCU, but THIS movie is guaranteed to swing it back. So what made the studio make such a dramatically different kind of movie that was ten time raunchier, more gory, more nostalgia filled than the previous Deadpool movies? Well......

Following Dune Part 1, this movie gave us a ton of payoff from the buildup that we got several years ago and it did NOT disappoint! As a matter of fact, I think its pretty underrated. I do not see many people talking about it very much. But I will!

I think everyone is getting real tired of studios doing whatever they want with their properties because they KNOW that no matter how bad something bombs, they can keep on truckin....

Did Obi-Wan Kenobi commit heinous crimes by removing the autonomy of the Stormtroopers with his famous "these arent the droids you're looking for" line? Does this open the Jedi order to a whole slew of class action lawsuits?

I am a HUGE X-Men comics fan, especially the later graphic novel adaptations and illustrated compendiums. So I was a little apprehensive whenever Disney Plus announced its continuation of the beloved X-Men cartoon we got in the 90s.......I was not ready for them to screw up my childhood even more. BUT THEY DIDNT!!!!

I got the chance to hang out with Nathan Helm, author of the first in what will be an epic fantasy SAGA sure to sweep the bookshelves! This book was packed full of fun and its definitely reflected by the cool dude that is its author.

Its no secret that Star Wars is a massive franchise that is near and dear to not only me but to tens of thousands, including my pal Matt Charles! Today he is advocating the position that the prequel trilogy is superior to the original trilogy......and I'm here to put a stop to that.

With all the really cool technologies and advancements of differing flavors that we get in various scifi franchises, do we really need big chonk muscles and kickass karate skills?

There is massive speculation that the Emperor of Mankind will be, if not already is, the next chaos god. Though it may be more apt to call him a god of order rather than chaos.

I had the opportunity to have a good long talk the author of Becoming Glitch, and it was nothing but fun. Heres waiting for the sequel to a book everyone should be reading! I know Daniel and I will be chatting it up whenever it comes out.

Ever make a decision and then rethink that decision? And then rethink that rethink? AND THEN throw the whole idea away and juggle chainsaws? Well, thats the Chaos God of Change for you. The focus on magics and sorcery is pretty fun though!

Ever thought about having that extra slice of cake? Spending all your paycheck on nothing but art decor and photography software? How about popping just one more xanax? Well great job! You have just invited the Prince of Pleasure to make her way over to tempt you into selling your soul for the BEST and most gratifying experiences you could ever want!

Ever hock a loogie that was super big and chunky and looked like if it was any bigger it would be walkin and talkin and ordering room service? WELL! Thats good ole Papa Nurgle if he wasnt a behemoth of a monstrous god of disease and rot.

Blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne of Khorne! WH40K has tons of dark gods littering its cosmic landscape and my favorite is easily the lord of rage and battle, Khorne!

I talk about zombies a lot but one of the classic era of movie monsters that I think gets over looked all the time are mummies! But whats the difference?

Today I'm joined by the author of To the Brink, Matt Charles to discuss his writing style, his book, and a bit of shared nerd perspectives!

We've had the Bad Batch series finale, the Tales of the Empire anthology episodes, trailers for the Acolyte and an interesting May the 4th promo video drop. IS it all still a dumpster fire?.......yeah

I'm seriously wanting to write this love story now.....

A friend of mine, Paul Avery Tindol, came out with a great scifi thriller! Hunting Snipe: and Other Notes on the East Texas Cattle Mutilations. I had the great pleasure of reading it before our chat and MAN I cannot recommend it enough! Paul and I actually studied theatre together at SFA, so its REALLY cool for me to see a colleague of mine create something as enthralling as this book!

There were a ton of interesting things going on that I wanted to talk about, so I summed them all up and did one episode instead of a bunch of smaller ones!

The latest hit show courtesy of Amazon Prime is out and wild: Fallout! If you havent carved out a few hours to burn through it like the radiation that permeates the wastelands of post apocalyptic America in the series, you definitely need to do so! Though I think the success of the show could potentially lead to something else......

I got to sit down and talk to a great friend of the show, author and voice over artist, Aaron Ryan, about his new book Dissonance Volume II: The Reckoning! Head on over to Amazon and pick it up, it is an absolute GREAT read!

We all have some natural fear of the dark. But why? Why are embodiments of fear and darkness so compelling as characters in our stories? Can we overcome them? How?

There have been all manner of creatures in science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, anime, graphic novels, and cereal box one offs, but I cannot find ANY examples of a being that is completely made out of sound waves.

ONE! SINGULAR SENSATION!!!..........Skipping down our evolutionary timeline, we can imagine pretty easily that the next drastic environmental change will be that our planet will have to contend with is: nuclear fallout. But how will human beings adapt?

Dealing with another foundational cornerstone in the bedrock of science fiction and its tropes, religion plays a HUGE part in whatever story it appears.

Okay so this show NEEDS TO BE a success or the franchise will be demolished, the fans will be lost, no one will care about Mando season 4 or the movie, people are already turned off about the Rey movie, everything is going to be absolutely WRECKED........so lets talk about it.

I really want this story/movie/show to happen. But I would also be SCARRED of it happening because I would not want it being screwed up to an utter oblivion like how so many beloved franchises and projects have been massacred recently.

Its easy to relate to a stories main characters, side characters, even the villains. But what about what we CANT relate to? Where are all the stories about the eldritch and mysterious? Lets have more of THAT!

We need to explore it, point blank period. We know frighteningly little about the ocean floor, the creatures that are able to live down there, the dinosaurs that survived the meteors and following ice ages wiping out their land based counter parts. And I REALLY want us discovering all the sunken cities and ships that are down there!
