Nick Fusaro (b. 1989) is based in Brooklyn, NY. He received his MFA in Sculpture from Hunter College in 2022 and his BFA in Sculpture from Pratt Institute in 2012. His sculptural practice combines humble materials, collections, and iteration to emphasize the effects of memory on lived experience. Fusaro also studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2011 and is the founder of Three Four Three Four, an artist-run gallery in New York. He has shown at Gordon Robichaux (Manhattan, NY ), Parent Company Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), Marwan (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Jupiter Woods (London, UK), Fisher Parrish (Brooklyn, NY), Strobe Gallery (New York, NY) and Long Story Short (New York, NY). Fusaro has made a habit of drafting new artworks behind a character or archetype when ideating. In this instance, as the exhibition’s title suggests, he has poised himself as The Foreman. The Foreman is an overseer. He doesn’t design or create plans, he simply executes them. He is the figure at the helm of process, navigating projects from renderings to realities. Imagined in the shape of a clown, the character of The Foreman is featured prominently in a panel at the gallery’s back wall, overseeing the exhibition like a construction site. His authority is subtly undercut by his choice of dress, and the delicate safety pin that holds him to the wooden panel. His intention, ability, and capacity are in question, but nevertheless, for better or for worse, it’s The Foreman who is in charge. Firm parenting isn't the same as 'mean' parenting. And your child isn't “pushing your buttons” because they're broken. Sometimes the real problem is that we've never been taught a clear, repeatable way to stay calm, set firm boundaries, and teach kids how to regulate themselves. Parenting behaviorist and family advocate Nicholeen Peck joins Dr. Amy and Sandy to redefine strict parenting as self-government: living by principles, staying emotionally steady, and using skills that make conflict predictable instead of explosive. On this episode of The Brainy Moms Podcast. we dig into how Nicholeen's years of working with traumatized and neurodiverse teens shaped a home culture that felt safe enough for even the most reactive kids to calm down. She explains why firmness does not require meanness, how scripts reduce power struggles, and what it looks like to teach children to follow instructions or disagree appropriately without manipulation. We also talk about brain-based parenting, getting everyone back to the “front brain” before solving problems, and why this approach is not about stuffing emotions but about timing and clarity. Then we move into the practical foundations: building a family vision, defining family roles, and rebuilding belonging and bonding when outside influences pull kids away from home. If you're homeschooling, parenting a strong-willed child, or navigating teen resistance, you'll hear concrete ways to shift your mindset, hold boundaries with love, and invite responsibility without constant lectures.Subscribe for more smart, compassionate parenting conversations, share this with a friend who needs calmer days, and leave a review so more families can find us. Mother's Day can bring up a lot. Grief. Longing. Love. Resentment. Regret. Sadness for what was… and sadness for what never was. In this episode of Cacao Conversations, we use Mother's Day as the doorway into a much deeper conversation: What happens when life doesn't look the way you imagined? Maybe you lost your mother. Maybe you lost a child. Maybe becoming a mother never happened the way you hoped. Maybe your relationship with your mother is complicated. Maybe the life you thought you'd have by now looks completely different. And underneath all of it is something many people quietly carry: The grief of unmet expectations. The grief of identities, timelines, dreams, and futures we built ourselves around. This conversation is about more than motherhood. It's about learning how to stop defining yourself by the life that didn't happen… and reconnecting with the life that's asking to be lived now. We also explore: • the deeper meaning of the sacred feminine • creation beyond motherhood • identity, purpose, and reinvention • the loneliness so many people feel around unmet expectations • why community and honest conversations matter more than ever You are not alone in this. And maybe the next version of your life begins the moment you stop worshipping the one you thought you were supposed to have. If this conversation resonates, this is the kind of work we explore inside: Reclaim Your Power — The Remembering: A 6-Week Journey Back to Your True Self A space where you are seen, supported, challenged, and reminded who you truly are. This week, we revisit a standout episode from the Wine Behind the Scenes Archives, one that invites you to break away from routine. Nothing could be more monotonous than sticking to the same flavours and combinations, meal after meal. Keeping your palate interested and excited through varying wine and food pairings can lead to a much more enjoyable experience. That's where experimentation and personal preferences play a significant role. Exploring new territory and challenging the palate can lead to beautiful discoveries you wouldn't have stumbled upon otherwise. My guest, Allison Pearce, a trailblazer in wine and food pairing, strongly advocates for this notion of experimentation. In this episode, you will be able to: Discover unconventional pairing wine and food strategies to elevate your next dinner party. Challenge traditional pairing norms and unlock new culinary experiences. Learn how to pair wines successfully with tricky ingredients like garlic or tomatoes. Find out how to cleverly use wines to complement missing flavours in your dishes. Understand how personal taste shapes your enjoyment of wine and why it should be embraced. With a career beginning at Canada's grand La Coast Hotel in the late 90s, Allison quickly learned the art, being trained by a sommelier. She not only embraced the discipline but revolutionized it with her unique approach. Over time, her understanding of wine pairing has evolved, breaking traditional rules and norms. Armed with her knowledge, she started experimenting with unorthodox pairings that caught people's interest. A firm believer in flipping traditional pairings on their heads, she confidently pairs whites with red meats and vice versa. Her daring approach extends to matching wines to complement or contrast the food's flavour, challenging common misconceptions. She emphasizes that enjoying wine and food isn't confined to the classic pairings we're used to. Her innovative ideas extend to pairing wines with side dishes instead of the main course, a move unheard of in conventional circles. This avant-garde approach has become Allison's signature style, making her a food and wine pairing pioneer. Contact Allison: https://www.instagram.com/allifpearce/ https://twitter.com/allisonfpearce
In episode 370 of the Grad School Femtoring Podcast, I talk about what it means to experience grief, guilt, and shame in grad school, especially when your journey does not match what you originally imagined. This episode is for graduate students who feel disconnected from their expectations, are navigating unexpected challenges, or are carrying emotional weight tied to their academic experience. I draw from patterns I consistently see in my coaching work to name and validate these experiences. I walk through how grief, guilt, and shame show up in graduate school, particularly for first-generation, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and chronically ill students navigating the hidden curriculum and systemic barriers. I introduce practical ways to process these emotions while still staying connected to your goals, including redefining progress, separating capacity from identity, and building supportive systems. In this episode, you will learn: How to identify and name grief tied to unmet expectations in grad school The difference between guilt and shame and how each impacts your decision-making How systemic factors and the hidden curriculum shape your academic experience Ways to separate your capacity from your sense of identity and self-worth How to redefine progress using a process-oriented and sustainable framework Why community and support systems are essential when navigating emotional challenges Work with me If you are navigating a difficult season in grad school or a major transition and want structured and compassionate support, I offer one-on-one coaching designed to help you build sustainable systems and make tangible progress on your goals. Week 3 of our series Same Power takes us into one of the most powerful transformation stories in Scripture—the encounter of Saul with Jesus on the road to Damascus. In Acts 9, we meet a man driven by anger, control, and opposition to the very movement God was building. Yet in a moment, everything changes. This message reminds us that no matter where you are, what you've done, or how far you feel from God, He is not distant—He is pursuing. Pastor Dustin walks through three powerful truths about what God can do with a life: God can meet you where you are. Even when you're not searching for Him, He knows how to find you. There is no place too far, no moment too dark, where His presence cannot reach. God can change you more than you think. Where others see brokenness or failure, God sees potential and purpose. No one is beyond the transforming power of Jesus. God can use you in ways you never imagined. Your story doesn't end where it started. God calls, equips, and sends ordinary people into extraordinary purpose through His grace. This message is a reminder that the same power that stopped Saul in his tracks is still at work today—meeting people, transforming hearts, and calling lives into purpose. Ephesians 3:20 declares that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to His power at work within us. That power is not distant—it is active, personal, and available. If you've ever felt too far gone, too broken, or unsure of your purpose, this message is for you.

In this episode of the Language on the Move Podcast, Emily Pacheco speaks with PhD candidate Brynn Quick (Macquarie University, Australia) about her 2025 paper, The (un)imagined work of determining patients' English language proficiency. The conversation focuses on language policies in healthcare, the monolingual logic, and language access. Quick, B., Piller, I., & Lising, L. (2025). The (un)imagined work of determining patients' English language proficiency. Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, 1-18. https://doi.org/10.1080/01434632.2025.2594462 Abstract. This study investigates how Australian healthcare policies imagine communication between limited English proficiency (LEP) patients and healthcare providers to occur. This is done through a work as imagined (WAI) vs. work as done (WAD) analysis of 13 Australian medical policies from four levels of governance. Findings reveal that policies mostly conceptualise the work of determining if a patient needs a professional interpreter as an act of self-assessment that patients will do themselves. When policies direct healthcare staff to assess patients' English language proficiency, they often instruct staff to ‘determine if the patient can understand English', usually without clear instruction on how to do this. Finally, while communication is the goal that drives many of these policies, ‘successful' communication is conceptualised as language-neutral, implicitly privileging English and erasing LEP patients' language needs. These findings reflect a novel way of framing policies' monolingual logic of WAI within the multilingual reality of WAD and mark an innovative contribution to the study of language access rights. ‘Theatre is an experience. A performance is never just an image.' Łukasz Twarkowski is one of the most compelling theatre makers today, always trying to push the boundaries of the art form. In conversation with Łukasz Twarkowski. At the latest Holland Festival, Łukasz Twarkowski made a strong impression with his overwhelming multidisciplinary production Rohtko, exploring the concept of originality and forgery in the art world, inspired by a fake Mark Rothko sales scandal. In an earlier edition of the festival in 2023, Twarkowski organised with Respublika a six-hour utopian rave Het Parool called ‘an experience like no other'. Twarkowski's work can rightfully be called groundbreaking. The originally Polish theatre maker creates interdisciplinary performances at the intersection of theatre, video art, and performance art. His work explores major philosophical questions of our time, including human consciousness, the rise of AI, and the place of the human being in the late capitalist world. With his work, Twarkowski tries to find new ways of storytelling that do justice to how the contemporary individual thinks and experiences the world. Because in a world flooded with images, traditional theatre is no longer up to that task, according to Twarkowski. This event is the first episode in a new series at De Balie, featuring conversations with leading European theatre makers about their work and vision. At the heart of the series lies theatre as a democratic space: a place where audiences are invited to reflect on what remains unspoken in society, and where art confronts the most urgent questions of our time.Łukasz Twarkowski is a creator of multimedia performances combining theatre and visual arts. He places his projects in the context of extending reality through multimedia. A crucial element of Twarkowski's creative work is investigating the ability and limitations of theatre as a medium and tool of communication. By permanent deconstruction of narratives, questioning the fixed habits of the audience and by meaningful usage of new media, Twarkowski creates a new, original language of stage performance based on multimedia and, more widely, digital technologies. In using these, Twarkowski analyses and observes increasingly complex relations between the Real, the Symbolic and the Imagined.Programme editor: Ianthe MosselmanSupported by: VfondsZie het privacybeleid op https://art19.com/privacy en de privacyverklaring van Californië op https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What if the biggest risk to patient safety in your organization is a broken communication loop? When one of the nation's largest health systems conducted its first National Action Plan assessment, leaders expected to find gaps in the process. What they didn't expect was to find gaps in communication and assumptions held at the top that didn't match the reality on the ground. Join Gaius and Jackson as we set the premise, vibe, and emotional throughline of the survival horror thriller, Send Help, and explain why Sam Raimi's signature style plus Damian Shannon and Mark Swift's writing could create a tense, high-stakes world for Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien to inhabit. We dive into Sam Raimi's directing DNA—practical effects, inventive camera work, rapid-fire pacing, and dark humor—and discuss how these tools would reshape suspense, action sequences, and scares in a modern survival setup. We also break down how the writer-team's strengths—tight plotting, character-driven stakes, and twisty reversals—could fuel a lean, relentless thriller. Expect conversations about pacing, tension management, and crafting memorable twists that land with impact. We also shine a light on the pairing of Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien in lead roles: what emotional range they bring to their roles, how their chemistry drives survivor dynamics, and what kind of character arcs maximize suspense and empathy for their characters. This is one episode you want to get stranded with!

In this episode, Pastor Nate teaches the final message of The Church Imagined series. He explores Paul's picture of the church in 1 Corinthians 3 as God's field. Speaking to a divided and spiritually immature church, Paul reminds believers that real growth doesn't come from elevating leaders or choosing sides, but from learning to live in Christlike love. We also see that spiritual maturity is not measured by knowledge alone, but by how deeply we love one another.Using the image of a field, the sermon highlights that the church is God's primary place for spiritual growth. Just as crops thrive in good soil, believers grow best in committed community. Every member has a role: planting seeds by sharing God's Word, watering through encouragement and practicing the “one another” commands, and trusting God for the miracle of growth. We are coworkers in God's work, but only He gives life. We are reminded that we don't own the field, and we don't produce the harvest, only God does. Our responsibility is to serve diligently, refuse division, and give Him all the glory as He grows His people.
Dennis is joined via Zoom by playwright Justin Tanner whose one-person show, "My Son, the Playwright," is currently running at the Rogue Machine Theatre in Hollywood. Justin talks about his motivation for writing the play, in which he plays a version of his father in Act 1 and a version of himself in 2004 in Act 2. He also talks about how he memorized the 14,000 word script by using a the robotic voice feature in Final Draft as well as an Allison Janney-inspired method involving the first letter of each word. Dennis and Justin also discuss the challenges and opportunities of writing plays compared to other formats, with Justin sharing insights about his early theater career and the impact of sobriety on his work. Other topics include: the theater scene in Los Angeles, how caring for his sick cat changed Justin's perception of himself, whether burnt bridges can ever be rebuilt, the glory days of LA queer gathering places like Cuffs and Basic Plumbing, the connection or lack thereof between the LA theater scene and success in Hollywood and what he thinks his late father would think of My Son the Playwright. https://www.roguemachinetheatre.org/
In this episode of The Child Psych Podcast, we're joined by Devon Kuntzman, parenting educator, early childhood specialist, and advocate for developmentally informed, connection-based discipline.Devon is best known for helping parents reframe toddler behavior—not as defiance or misbehavior, but as communication rooted in brain development, emotional growth, and a deep need for connection. With years of experience supporting families through the most intense and misunderstood years of early childhood, Devon brings clarity and compassion to moments that often leave parents feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or unsure.Together, we explore how our cultural definition of discipline often sets parents and toddlers up for struggle—and why traditional approaches like punishment, threats, or time-outs frequently backfire during the toddler years. Devon explains what's actually happening in a toddler's developing brain during meltdowns, refusal, and power struggles, and why expecting impulse control or emotional regulation from young children is both unrealistic and unfair.Drawing from her book Transforming Toddlerhood , Devon helps parents understand why toddler behavior isn't personal—and how shifting from control to connection can completely change the parenting experience. We talk about the critical difference between discipline and punishment, what toddlers truly learn when fear or control is used, and how parents can respond in ways that build emotional regulation, resilience, and long-term mental health.Known for her relatable, shame-free approach, Devon empowers parents to trust themselves, regulate their own nervous systems, and move through toddlerhood with confidence rather than constant correction. This conversation is especially supportive for caregivers who want to raise emotionally healthy children without losing themselves in the process. If you've ever wondered:* Why doesn't traditional discipline work with toddlers?* What is my child actually trying to tell me through their behavior?* How can I set limits without damaging our relationship? This episode offers reassurance, insight, and a powerful reframe that many parents have been waiting for.Devon's Book "Transforming Toddlerhood: How to Handle Tantrums, End Power Struggles, and Raise Resilient Kids---Without Losing Your Mind" --> https://a.co/9AGhuXkDevon is a featured speaker at our 2026 Children's Mental Health and Parenting Summit. Revisiting this episode because sometimes you have to repeat yourself for it to stick... Truth comes in many forms. What has been draining your spirit? 5 types of people to avoid to navigate the next chapter in life in peace and freedom, and not chaos. If someone's constant complaining suffocates the joy, God is trying to nourish in you, then you must protect your inner sanctuary. The second type is the manipulator. This is the most subtle and often the most painful. Manipulation does not come with shouting. It comes wrapped in words that sound like care, like duty, like obligation. Manipulators use guilt to control. They speak of love but demand submission. God NEVER weaponizes guilt. Therefore, every person who steals your freedom is damaging the gift God placed in you. 3rd type They remind you of old mistakes, not to heal you, but to diminish you. They keep you fixed in an outdated portrait of who you once were, refusing to see the grace God has formed in you. Your past is not a weapon for others to wield. 4th Darkness Bearers one who carries darkness. Not always in obvious ways, not always with dramatic sins, but with a presence that pulls the soul away from the light. These are the people who normalize what leads you away from God, who diminish the seriousness of sin, who feed resentment, who speak lightly of what wounds the conscience, who invite you into anger, division, or habits that cloud the clarity of prayer. A neighbor arrives not with warmth but with gossip that stains the mind. A relative comes not with compassion but with burdensome anger that pulls the spirit into old conflicts. 5th Silent but just as deadly This cold silence is not the silence of contemplation. It is the silence of indifference. It is the silence that neither builds nor comforts. A relative who shows no interest in your well-being. A friend who never asks how your heart is. A companion who takes but never gives. Your soul is too close to eternity to be entangled in the shadows of others. Rise above the storms of others. You will live the later years as God intended, not in confusion, but in clarity, not in exhaustion, but in grace. Pope Leo is still kicking the knowledge. Navigate to Pope Leo Speaks on 5 Types of People to Avoid that are Peace Wreckers to view the video in its entirety. No, I am not Catholic. But, this Pope Leo XIV is literally a "cousin". And has emphatically stated he is not MAGA. As the first American-born pope, has said that his nationality means that people cannot say he "doesn't understand the United States," as they did with Pope Francis. This statement indicates that he feels his perspective is uniquely informed and that he will be more effective in his engagement with the US government. He has expressed support for US bishops who took a stance against the Trump administration's deportation policies. By doing so, he is indirectly criticizing the administration while also encouraging other bishops to follow suit. While Pope Leo XIV has stated that he wants to avoid "partisan politics," he has also said that he is not afraid to "raise issues" that are related to the Gospel. This creates a fine line that he seems willing to cross, and his comments on human dignity, immigration, and wealth inequality can be interpreted as a moral and religious critique of the administration's policies. Try this. Imagine a perfect world. Whatever that means to you, imagine it. Does that mean peace? Then envision absolute...
New Year's Resolutions or Intentions for the New Year...Peace will rule, get into it! End of year roundup, reflecting on next chapter of my life, I am hopeful that my ordered steps will help someone else. Truth comes in many forms. What has been draining your spirit? 5 types of people to avoid to navigate the next chapter in life in peace and freedom, and not chaos. An elderly woman once told a sister, "I love her, but I cannot breathe when she leaves. It is as though she blows out the candles in my house." The sister answered her with gentle truth, "Love her from a distance, for God did not ask you to sacrifice your peace to satisfy another's unrest." If someone's constant complaining suffocates the joy, God is trying to nourish in you, then you must protect your inner sanctuary. The second type, the manipulator. Your brain on revenge looks like your brain on drugs. Here, Dr. James Kimmel, Jr. explores the neuroscience of vengeance and the power of forgiveness.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1226What We Discuss with James Kimmel, Jr.:Revenge activates the same brain circuitry as drug addiction. When we experience grievances, our brain's pain centers light up, triggering cravings for revenge that activate the nucleus accumbens and dorsal striatum — the same pleasure and addiction pathways used by cocaine, gambling, and alcohol. This explains why revenge feels temporarily euphoric but leaves us wanting more. Most violence stems from perceived victimization, not inherent evil. Nearly all forms of human violence — from playground bullying to terrorism and genocide — originate from revenge-seeking behavior. The perpetrator almost always views themselves as a victim first, making revenge the root cause of mass shootings, intimate partner violence, gang conflicts, and even war.Imagined grievances trigger real revenge desires with real-world consequences. It doesn't matter whether victimization is real or manufactured — if it feels real in your head, it produces genuine revenge cravings. This explains how leaders like Hitler used the "stab in the back" myth to mobilize a nation, and why mass shooters nurse perceived slights that no one else remembers.Revenge addiction destroys relationships and keeps you trapped in the past. Unlike self-defense (which protects your future), revenge always looks backward, creating a preoccupation with past wrongs. It damages every relationship, increases anger and anxiety, and paradoxically makes you feel worse after the initial dopamine hit fades — all while fearing retaliation.Forgiveness is the neurological cure — and you can learn it. Science now shows we're hardwired for forgiveness as much as revenge. Forgiveness actually stops pain rather than just covering it up, shuts down revenge cravings, and reactivates your prefrontal cortex. Dr. Kimmel's "Nonjustice System" — a role-play trial method tested at Yale — gives you a practical way to be heard, hold someone accountable in your mind, and ultimately release yourself from past wounds.
