James series message 14Text: James 4:1-12James warns against quarrels and worldliness, as conflict comes from selfish desires. We are called to submit to the Lord and draw near to Him, resisting our adversary. James urges repentance and humility, God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble (and grace is what we need!). 5 17 26 Humble Hearts, Heavenly Grace Colin Seager

James series message 13Text: James 3:13-18 We continue our consideration of heavenly versus earthly wisdom, a divide that runs all through Scripture. We see God's wisdom displayed in redemption, but what does it look like for us to grow in wisdom and walk it? We will make application to Mother's Day as we unpack the meekness of godly wisdom in believers. 5 10 26 Wisdom From Above pt. 2 Colin Seager

James series message 12Text: James 3:13-18Our passage contrasts worldly wisdom with godly wisdom, showing the fruit of those who pursue righteousness and who are peacemakers.

James series message 11Text: James 3:5-6We've just examined James' treatment on the tongue, the vast potential for harm and also for good. Sometimes people's words pervade our thinking even to the point of governing our subconscious thoughts. How do we prevent harmful words from living ‘rent free' in our minds? In this message, we will let God's Word speak to this important matter.

James series message 10Text: James 3:1-12James continues his treatment of practical issues - the tongue is certainly high on the list! Taming the tongue is a mark of Christian maturity. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The goal is to move from our words being a mixed bag, to consistently blessing the Lord and building others up with the words we speak.

Text: Ephesians 1:15-23We continue our theme from Easter Sunday and drill a little deeper on persuasion and passion regarding the resurrection of Jesus. I pray it is an encouragement and comfort for each of us as we ponder the great love the Lord has for us.

Text: Acts 20:24Once a hater, Paul is now the spokesperson for the gospel as it spreads throughout the Gentile world. How he engages people is moving - with passion and persuasion. This is seen clearly in his interaction with the Ephesian elders. The well-attested historical fact of the resurrection of Jesus Christ drives us to be focused and passionate as we make disciples.

James series message 9Text: James 2:18-26We continue our consideration of James' treatment of faith and works. He again uses strong language to assert that faith without works is dead.

Text: Hebrews 4:16We are told to boldly approach God's throne of grace, so we can find help in our time of need!

James series message 8Text: James 2:14-17Our faith is not merely a matter of intellect. It powerfully works itself out in our daily life. James gives examples of how our faith governs our actions.

James series message 7Text: 1 Samuel 7:1-14In 1 Samuel 7, we find the people of God in a state of disobedience, followed by repentance. In a difficult situation, and after Samuel's intercession, God intervenes once again in the history of Israel, delivering them from their enemies and making the intercessor declare that “Till now the Lord has helped us.” What are the stages of God's intervention which are applicable to our Christian life today? What happens when the Lord intervenes… then and now?

James series message 6Text: James 2:8-13We fulfill the royal law by loving our neighbor as ourselves; showing favoritism is sin and, when we break part of God's law, we are accountable for all of it. We should speak and act as those who will be judged under the law of liberty; mercy triumphs over judgment.

James series message 5Text: James 2:1-7As those who have been adopted into God's family, we have no room to show partiality to some and undermine the unity of God's church.

James series message 4Text: James 1:19-27Being a doer of the Word, and not just a hearer, produces the wonderful fruit of holiness that also expresses itself in love for others.

James series message 3Text: James 1:12-18James gives a good word regarding steadfastness in trials and understanding the anatomy of temptation.

James series message 2Text: James 1: 5-11God is good, and loves to impart wisdom; we should not be double-minded when receiving it. And, whether rich or poor, we should remember the fleeting nature of life and order our life priorities accordingly.

James series message 1Text: James 1:1-4In this message, we begin a new sermon series in James; a treatise, by a very important person, on practical Christian living. We'll introduce the overall themes in James' epistle, and focus on how to engage trials and testing in our lives.

Text: Ephesians 3:10What is the church? It is the focal point of God's redemptive work on earth. Win this message, we lay out God's teaching on the significance and beauty of God's church at the beginning of this new year.

Text: Matthew 18:15-35Forgiveness can be very difficult and something we may not want to do, yet Scripture presents it as a central mark of life in Christ. In this Sunday's sermon passage, we will consider Jesus' parable of the unforgiving servant and examine how withholding forgiveness places us in a prison of our own making, while releasing others entrusts justice to God. Nestled within this warning is a gracious invitation: those who have been forgiven much are called to walk in the freedom Christ has secured for them.

Advent 2025 message 4Text: Acts 17:22-34Paul connects the resurrection with another important gospel concept, judgment. Judgement is associated with Jesus' second coming and He will judge in righteousness.

Advent 2025 Message 3Text: Romans 1:1-7Unlike the Inn, there's room in the tomb because Jesus quickly vacated! Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and He did so by shedding His precious blood. The church has a living Head, not a dead Savior. On Sunday we will celebrate our resurrected and ascended Lord, as we marvel at the baby in the manger.

Advent 2025 Message 2Text: Matthew 1:18-25As we ponder the meaning and significance of Christmas, it is a sobering thought that Jesus came for one reason: to save sinners. Laying down His life was hard-baked into His mission.

Advent 2025 Message 1In this message we'll cover familiar ground regarding the birth of Jesus. We will highlight the unique and compelling command given the angels when He came into our world, this helps us understand the wonderful Person and Work of Jesus Christ. His advent brings such comfort and joy!

2 Peter series message 13Text: II Peter 3:14-18Peter concludes his second letter with personal exhortations to be sober minded and live godly lives. With great anticipation for Christ's return, we should grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

2 Peter series message 12Text: II Peter 3:8-13Peter reminds us that though the scoffers scoff, Christ will indeed return and with that, God's judgement will be unleashed in the most catastrophic manner. In conjunction with this, our long awaited redemption will be realized as we will enjoy the new heavens and new earth. Peter is a faithful elder, shepherding believers in these compelling realities.

2 Peter series message 11Text: II Peter 3:1-7Peter reinforces our need to be sober minded. Scoffers will come, mocking the notion of Jesus' coming. In doing so, they deliberately overlook the fact that God has already judged the world in the great flood, and will do it again with fire.

2 Peter series message 10Text: II Peter 2:17-22Peter continues his description of false teachers as they lead many astray from the truth. Their chaotic inner turmoil is exposed, as well as their pending judgement.

2 Peter series message 9Text: II Peter 2:10b-16In the previous message, we saw that false prophets and teachers will be judged. Now Peter goes into detail about how these false teachers operate - while acting like a brother or sister in Christ within the local church. We have to be aware that there are wolves in sheep's clothing. Perhaps the greater danger is wandering from the truth of God's word and slowly becoming desensitized to the lies and even embracing them over time.

2 Peter series message 8Text: II Peter 2:4-10aDo we think God's judgement on false teachers is idle or asleep? Is the Day of Judgement a man made myth? Consider the fallen angels, Noah's contemporaries, and Sodom and Gomorrah. Peter's treatment of false teachers and judgement is both jarring and extensive. Nestled in this passage is a precious promise for saints: the Lord knows how to save the righteous.

2 Peter series message 7Text: II Peter 2:1-3Having affirmed the truth and the straightedge of truth, Peter now moves to his primary theme: false teachers. We must know the truth from error and how to arrive on the side of the truth. The concept of absolute truth is a hard one for this generation, and therefore crucial to address.

2 Peter series message 6Text: II Peter 1:16-21Peter informs our understanding of the inspiration and authority of God's Word, in a detailed yet concise way. It is a powerful apologetic pairs well with the statement in Hebrews, the Word of God is living and active.

2 Peter series message 5Text: II Peter 1:12-15Peter employed strong language when describing gospel application in daily life. Before moving on, in our sermon passage he reiterates the centrality of the gospel and preeminence of Christ in the context of his pending impending martyrdom.

2 Peter series message 4Text: II Peter 1:9-11Peter exhorts us to intentionally develop seven qualities, he now addresses the one who lacks these qualities. We are exhorted to confirm our calling and election with the end goal of a rich entrance into Christ's eternal kingdom. The choice before us: a rich entrance as the Lord intends or a Chrisitan walk that could be characterized as poor or weak.

2 Peter series message 3Text: II Peter 1:5-8Inspired by our sermon passage, my abiding prayer for our six kids is that they would know Christ and not be ineffective or unfruitful in their relationship with Him. Against the backdrop of eternity, Peter reveals the path to Christian maturity and confident Christian living.

Text: I Samuel The life and ministry of the Old Testament prophet, Samuel, holds many lessons for us as we serve the Lord. He was required to do difficult things but always knew the Lord was with Him every step of the way. So it is with us: the reward before us far outweighs today's hardships.

1 Peter series message 27Text: I PeterPeter gives solid wisdom for Christians undergoing various kinds of suffering. Like everyone else, our sojourn in our fallen world sometimes includes suffering not tied to our Christian witness. We'll apply Peter's wisdom and also weave in stories of those from our midst who have demonstrated their trust in the Lord during difficult times.

1 Peter series message 27Text: I PeterPeter gifts us with a highly developed theology of suffering, from various trials to fiery persecution. We'll take two weeks to highlight how real people have experienced suffering and entrusted themselves completely to God. This Sunday we'll examine the life and ministry of a key figure in church history, one of my heros of the Faith.

1 Peter series message 26Text: I Peter 1:3-5Many Christians have an underdeveloped view of what eternity looks like for us. "Inheritance" is an intriguing and powerful element of our eternal reward. As Peter makes mention of it, I want to develop it in more depth to increase both our understanding and appreciation of it.

1 Peter series message 25Text: I Peter 5:6This month we'll squeeze 1 Peter dry and develop some key concepts by cross referencing them throughout Scripture. Peter offers one of the few NT references to the "Hand of God" (also, the "Hand of the Lord"), a designation employed extensively throughout the Old Testament in a redemption context. It yields rich assurance and confidence in God's work in and through His people.

1 Peter series message 24Text: 1 PeterAs we wrap up and recap our consideration of Peter's first letter, there are ten key words that form the foundation of his message. Highlighting these, and seeing how they interface with each other, is helpful in grasping the depth of Peter's teaching. Exile, resurrection, trial, love, shepherd, glory, holy, grace, joy and Word of God.

1 Peter series message 23Text: I Peter 5:10-13It is fitting that Peter closes on the note of grace: the true grace of God and the God of all grace! In this message we will focus on the outworking of this grace in our lives - comfort and perspective for every believer!

Text: Ephesians 1:11 & Isaiah 46:9-10The world needs to hear about Jesus! It may look different for each believer, but every Christian is called to share the good news about Jesus with the world.

1 Peter series message 22Text: I Peter 5:6-9Today's passage is a wonderfully pastoral piece of advice. Stay humble under God's mighty hand, stay vigilant, and stand firm!

1 Peter series message 21Text: 1 Peter 5:1-5This week, Peter addresses elders and gives profound wisdom for everyone in the church. This message will be helpful for those wanting to learn more about the biblical teaching for the role and qualifications for elders in the local church.

1 Peter series message 20Text: I Peter 4:17-19As Peter exhorts the church to not be surprised when they face trials and suffer because of their faith, he points them to the bigger picture. God is doing a work in His people through these trials, as painful as they may be. It is a message of hope for those in Christ, but it is a warning of judgement for those who are not.

1 Peter series message 19Text: 1 Peter 4:12-16When suffering because you are a Christian, realize it is normal, rejoice in the promise of future glory, know there is present spiritual blessing, trust yourself to God, and continue doing good!

1 Peter series message 18Text: 1 Peter 4:7-11In light of the end coming, we are to love people fiercely and serve one another faithfully. This all flows from the mindset Peter taught us in our previous passage. In this way, God is glorified in all things!

1 Peter series message 17Text: I Peter 4:1-6Peter focuses on the Christian mindset. We must have the mindset of not only ceasing our previous way of living in accordance with the flesh, but determining to follow our Lord in the path of suffering if He so wills. We can expect nonbelievers to ridicule our choices. A sobering truth to that end is that God is ready to judge the living and the dead!
