Ray said it seemed like the players were in favor of this move when it happened, but it doesn't completely take Matt Canada out of the doghouse. Ray thinks Pickett has the right makeup to be a starting QB in this league as he gets set to face a gauntlet in the next four weeks. Poni asked Ray about the receivers and how they contributed to the turnovers on Sunday. Ray said Mitch Trubisky should be the backup QB on Sunday and to keep Mason Rudolph inactive.

Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the Post-Gazette joined the show. Ray gave the Steelers offense a C or D+ grade through the first three games of the season and said it has not been good enough to keep the job done. Ray referenced change at QB eventually and does not expect a change coming at offensive coordinator in the middle of the season. Ray also gave Mitch Trubisky a C grade and thinks the Steelers were just hoping for that before TJ Watt got injured, which has drastically changed the production of the defense. Ray talked about all of the changes going on with the whole roster and why Trubisky and Matt Canada are not the whole problem right now. The offensive line has been OK, according to Ray – he doesn't want to fully praise them, but agreed they have been better than expected. He said the run game still isn't there over the course of a game and the pass game has been Trubisky letting the ball go quickly. The coaching staff also got graded a C to this point in the season.

Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the Post-Gazette joined the show. Ray said the Steelers offense is a problem in a bad sense heading into week three. He doesn't expect a coaching change because it's not the Steelers style. Ray doesn't think Mitch Trubisky is as big of a reason for the failures as Matt Canada, but there's a reason why the team drafted Kenny Pickett. Ray talked about the long streak of games the Steelers have gone through since scoring a first drive touchdown. Ray got into the difficulties of winning without TJ Watt and competent play on offense. Ray doesn't think one game will throw Mike Tomlin off his game plan following the loss to New England. Ray said the players are calling for more up-tempo stuff because that's what helps the offense get going, but he said it's not a good look for the offensive coordinator. Ray isn't sold that a QB change will happen following this game, but he said if there's ever a time to do it, it would be then.

The Bills look unreal and the atmosphere in Buffalo looked incredible last night. Dan Orlovsky also hated hard on blue cheese.  Vegas oddsmakers have made moves – Mitch Trubisky is no longer available to bet on as the first QB benched this season. The guys agreed that another ugly game paired with a loss will result in Kenny Pickett making his debut at home against the Jets. The guys think it's clear Trubisky was coached up on what to say in today's meeting with the media. What will it take for Mike Tomlin to make the switch? Trubisky appears to be more comfortable when the team goes tempo/hurry up on offense – so why not let him do it a little bit more? The guys want to see the offense open up a little bit more because we'll be able to tell if Trubisky can truly lead this offense or he can't. The Browns' pass rush looks to be beat up going into Thursday night and the Steelers have to take advantage of that.  Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the Post-Gazette joined the show. Ray said the offensive line knows how badly it performed as a whole Saturday night. Ray said there is a chance the team could make a move for a veteran OL before the season. Poni labeled Kendrick Green as “unplayable.” Ray said in pass protection, Kevin Dotson is clearly the better guy at left guard. The guys asked Ray of his thoughts on Mark Robinson and if he already makes a better case to start than Devin Bush at this point, but the gap would have to be enormous for a late-round rookie like Robinson to crack the starting lineup anytime soon. Ray thinks you saw a small improvement from Bush in the second preseason game. Ray said the preseason finale will likely be viewed as the dress rehearsal game.

The Steelers are coming off another preseason win, 16-15 over Jacksonville Saturday night. Kenny Pickett shined yet again. Are we overreacting? Pickett saw more “varsity” action in the win, but it only took 8 snaps to impress Mike Tomlin. Is it a sign that Tomlin is closer to pulling the trigger for Pickett as QB1? Mitch Trubisky didn't play poorly, but Pickett looked ready to go.  Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo from the Post-Gazette joined the show. Ray said Kenny Pickett gets an A for his performance in the first two preseason games. He said in his opportunities he's been great. The guys asked Ray what he thinks will end up of Mason Rudolph, who currently sits at third string. He thought Mitch Trubisky played OK against Jacksonville, saying he hasn't done a lot either way to lose his starting job.
