Tyler Kennedy thinks the NHL is "watering the product down' with the schedule by going to 84 games. He thinks teams will rest players and more injuries will occur. TK thinks there will be "load management" in the NHL now with 84 games.
The Brewers made a trade today, acquiring Lance McCullers from the Astros. McCullers hasn't done much of anything in 5 years, but we're sure he will become a great pitcher again because that's how things work in Milwaukee. Poni had 3 names at the ready for the Pirates to target, all left-handed pitchers, heading into the trade deadline. The most attractive name was Robbie Ray, which could cost a pair of prospects, neither of which being in the MLB's Top 100. Is it worth looking into Kyle Freeland, who has been horrible for the Rockies? When was the last time the Pirates didn't have a player play in the All Star Game? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. It took Anthony Mantha 2 weeks to sign with someone and that team was the New Jersey Devils. It was for less term and money than we expected, maybe due to his disappearing act in the playoffs. What is the Penguins' free agent strategy and how they are playing things with their young players? Is Jason Robertson still a possibility? TK had a cup of coffee with the Devils, so they wanted his scouting report on how Mantha may enjoy it (or not). The guys joked about the Alex Ovechkin diet. Does that make you appreciate his greatness more? Could we get any good Sidney Crosby drinking stories out of TK?
Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Jason Robertson reportedly wants to play with his brother, who the Penguins traded for and signed last week. But just because the Penguins have Nicholas Robertson that doesn't guarantee them to get Jason. At this stage, it will require a trade and the Stars could be looking for a massive haul. If the move requires Ben Kindel going back, should that be a hold up? The Pens have been linked to Elias Pettersson, who has a few 30-goal seasons under his belt. Is Pittsburgh still an attractive place to play thanks to Sidney Crosby?
A historic night at PNC Park and for Ryan O'Hearn as the Bucco joined the rare 10 RBI Club in the 12-4 win over the Braves. O'Hearn started his night with a Grand Slam followed by a pair of 3-run home runs. It is, at worst, on the medal stand of single-game performances in Pirates history. Where does it rank? We heard from Ryan O'Hearn after last night's game that is among the greatest single-game performances in team history. He said his helmet will be going to Cooperstown. Is the ‘Green Weenie' going to make a comeback? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK thinks it's good for the NHL. Many players are leaving Canada to play in warmer weather and also no state tax. Josh Yohe reported that Kyle Dubas is "big game hunting." Will the Penguins make a big move?

Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Should the Penguins look into the Dylan Larkin availability? TK thinks it's odd that so many players that won gold with Team USA want out of their current situation. Tyler doesn't think it takes much convincing for guys to want to play with Sidney Crosby because at this point, most of the league has watched Sid their entire lives. The guys laughed about Joe Thornton walking around downtown Pittsburgh back when the Penguins and Sharks were facing off in the Stanley Cup Final. TK talked about Jordan Staal having a monster series as the Hurricanes try to win their first cup in 20 years.
Poni doesn't think Don Kelly showed enough fire last night after the Pirates were blown out at PNC Park, which included a disastrous 7th inning. The Dodgers scored TEN times to blow the game wide open and would win it, 12-3. For 6 innings, it was competitive, in front of a big Tuesday crowd in Pittsburgh. Is Kelly just another version of Derek Shelton or is there something hidden in there? Marcell Ozuna failed another challenge last night and he was thrown out on a play that nearly every other player in baseball history would have run out for a base hit. Does he know what a strike is anymore? And can he actually out-run the entire Fan staff? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Should the Penguins look into the Dylan Larkin availability? TK will give Austin a signed Sidney Crosby jersey if he grows out his mustache until Christmas. Who will play the longest and who retires first: Crosby, Malkin, Letang, or Alexander Ovechkin?

A hockey fan in Nova Scotia gave Tyler Kennedy all of his hockey cards. TK once traded hockey sticks with Malkin!
A big win for the Buccos last night, beating the Cubs 12-1 at PNC Park. Another sharp start for Braxton Ashcraft, but is there about to be a problem? Is it a good problem to have? The Pirates have Jared Jones coming back to the rotation, but they have a slew of young arms that are on innings limits. 2 Pirates-Fan contributors have suggested Ashcraft being the man to the bullpen upon Jones' return. That seems like it would be a big much, considering Ashcraft has been the best starter on the team – even better than Paul Skenes. Marcell Ozuna continues to struggle, but the Pirates offense overall has been great. Imagine if this guy begins carrying his weight. Calls on the Pirates pitching predicament. HOCKEY TALK! We haven't heard from usual guest Tyler Kennedy in a few weeks, which has sparked concern about our show. It seems like a few team reporters were swerved by the Evgeni Malkin re-signing. Did ownership push Kyle Dubas to bring Geno back?

Tyler Kennedy thinks it would take years to come back from a full rebuild. The Penguins don't have their next face of the franchise after Sidney Crosby and is concerning. Another gem from Paul Skenes as the Pirates beat the Rockies, 3-1 at PNC Park. Skenes tossed 8 scoreless innings for the second consecutive start and carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning. A footnote from the game is the lack of people in the crowd. There were only around 13k tickets sold and fewer than that in the building. It spurred comments about Pittsburgh being a ‘mediocre' baseball town from a retired Pittsburgh sports writer. Is he right? Is it a blackeye on the fans to not have a bigger number at the ballpark? The guys defended Pittsburghers on this one. The Pirates drew 31,000+ fans per game in 2015. Is Pittsburgh a good or lousy baseball town? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK is a member at a local golf course that was rumored to be visited by Aaron Rodgers this weekend, but he didn't have confirmation on that. Will Evgeni Malkin be back? Does Kyle Dubas have something up his sleeve once we hit free agency? With how much power Sidney Crosby has over the organization, how does that factor into the offseason plans? The Penguins dug themselves too big of a gap going down 3-0. TK thought it was a tale of two teams when the Penguins changed their line combinations. He doesn't think Game 6 was the final game for the Big 3. TK's theory on where Evgeni Malkin could go if he's not back.
Hour 1 with Bob Pompeani and Joe Starkey: The Penguins season is over after a 1-0 overtime loss to Philadelphia. Joe thinks the better team lost Game 6, but it took the Penguins too long to get into the series and they had no margin for error. TK doesn't think Game 6 was the final game for the Big 3. Tyler shares his theory on where Evgeni Malkin could go if he's not back with the Penguins next season.
Game 6 tonight in Philly after the Penguins have won back-to-back games to stretch the series to 6. Does it all end tonight? Donny called ‘Pens in 7' before Game 5. Poni got on board after that game. Tyler is happy to hear the Penguins were ‘all business' in their morning skate. He said if the Penguins win the game tonight, the series is over, and they will win it in 7. TK thought it was dumb to play the stars in Washington. TK would replace Sam Girard with Jack St. Ivany.
The Rangers topped the Pirates last night, but the biggest story didn't come from the game. Instead, it was from the comments made by Andrew McCutchen following it. Cutch is still clearly salty following his Pirates departure. Would the Pirates be better off with him instead of Marcell Ozuna or Billy Cook? 2/3 of the show thinks Cutch needs to stop crying and be happy he got his 3-year reunion in Pittsburgh. Of course, a year when the Pirates look like a good team, the rest of the NL Central is great. How do fans feel about the Andrew McCutchen comments? Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. Does Tyler like what Dan Muse is doing right now? TK said the Penguins need to adapt and match the style Philly is throwing at them. What is going on with Kris Letang right now? It looks like Justin Brazeau is back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch in the first 2 games. Tyler believes in the Russian connection between Evgeni Malkin and Egor Chinakhov, so he was speechless to find out they aren't on the same line tonight. Tyler thinks the Penguins bounce back tonight and Sidney Crosby will have a big game to shut up the building in Philadelphia.
