Penalties were not the Steelers' friend at all. Unnecessary penalties occurred frequently last night. How did the offensive line perform as a whole? Donny says you cannot be disappointed with the defense's performance. The Steelers only allowed three field goals, including against the Packers' true starting quarterback. Most importantly for the Steelers running back room: Where is Kaleb Johnson? The Steelers' former third round pick is MIA and was not seen much last night.

Steelers fans chime in on what they saw in the Pre-season opener. Emmanuel in Carnegie agrees that the games do not matter at the end of the day. However, he says he is not going to diminish the work the players put in and it is important to see development in players, especially the young quarterbacks.

Ray Fittipaldo joins the show! Ray says you have to be encouraged by the quarterbacks' play in the first game. While preseason games do not matter in the grand scheme of things, you have to look at the positives at what players can offer. Ray says that Allar looks confident which is different from what you could say about him at Rookie Mini-Camp. Ray says that we will see Aaron Rodgers at some point against the starters this preseason. We would have seen Rodgers play if Michael Pittman Jr. had not been injured Saturday, but that opened the door for Jermie Bernard to get some reps and he stood out. Ray says he is a little worried about Fautanu at this point in the preseason. Fautanu is the key to the offensive line's success this season and if his transition does not work, it could be a long season.

The Pirates won a game yesterday! Braxton Ashcraft had the best starting pitching performance this season. He had a nine inning complete game, the first one in a very long time. The bottom of the Pirates lineup last night was the key to the Pirates offensive outburst. Could this be the start of a run or is this too little, too late?

The Donny Football Debrief: Mark Kaboly is in his second hotel during training camp. Dogs barked in the first hotel. The second hotel has had a few domestic arguments. People are mistaking Mark for Mike McCarthy.

Jason Mackey joins the show! Jason doesn't think this stretch will sink their season. Cruz is starting his rehab assignment tonight and Jason thinks he will back the later part of next week. Jason is more confident in the offense getting back on track at this point in time rather than the starting pitching. If the offense and starting pitching can be better than bottom five in the league, they should still be in the race.
