Is Coach Shephard to BLAME for BAD Alabama WR Behavior? VIRAL RANT Explained! Alabama wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard did not hold back, delivering a fiery message to his players: “I'm tired of sugarcoating s— for people in this room anymore.” His passionate rant went viral, calling out his unit for their lack of accountability while praising Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard for taking notes and putting in the work. But where does the blame truly lie? Is Shephard responsible for his group's lack of production? Should the Alabama wide receivers be more self-motivated? And what does this say about the culture of Alabama football under Kalen DeBoer? In this episode, Daniel Pettey, former Alabama linebacker Marvin Constant, and former defensive back Gerald "Smoke" Dixon break it all down with unfiltered, no-holds-barred analysis. They discuss Shephard's comments, the wide receiver struggles, and whether this fire will light up Alabama's offense in 2025. Is Alabama's WR room in trouble? Whiskers & Whiskeys Present: Tales of the Trophies

Welcome back to Whiskers & Whiskeys, Sports Talk Radio. The actions of Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard, practicing their jumpers during a play, really highlights the lack of maturity and leadership in that Crimson Tide locker room. Do you think Saban would've stood for that? I didn't think so. How about Julio Jones? DeVonta Smith? Couple of guys that know a thing or two about catching passes, also know a thing about blocking. How about Jalen Hurts, you think he'd let Williams and Bernard act like this? How about Tua Tagovailoa? AJ McCarron? Mark Ingram? You think any of those guys would've let this go on in their locker room? How bout Courtney Upshaw? Minkah Fitzpatrick? Quinnen Williams? Daron Payne? Dont'a Hightower? CJ Mosley, you think CJ Mosley was watching the game Saturday and said “Hey those guys are working hard and giving it their all?” I don't think he did! Rolando McClain? Shaun Alexander? Jay Barker? You think these guys would've let it stand? I know for a FACT they wouldn't have. Wayne Wheeler? Buddy Brown? Major Ogilvie? They'd have took care of it in house, settled it like gentlemen, by bullying Williams and Bernard relentlessly. How about Fred Pickhard? Wu Winslett? Red Brown? Go back to 1926, you think ANYBODY on that 1926 team would've let that sh- Alright, this is EJ taking over. Today's pod is about the Jefferson Eppes Trophy. No, not the New York financier. Cheers.

Join Jared Palmgren and his guest Chris Kay (@Realestchriskay) in Episode 161 of CFF Analysis as they dive into the early average draft position (ADP) analysis for CFF 2024. They discuss ADP trends developed from CFF mock drafts and best balls during the first two months of the off-season, highlighting players they believe are either undervalued or overvalued in drafts.[0:07:22] - The two discuss overall trends noticed in drafts, including the gap between the elite QB options and navigating heavy RB and WR starts.[0:17:51] - Cameron Ward, transfer quarterback to Miami, FL, is discussed as going too high. They debate whether the Hurricanes provide the necessary circumstances for Ward to continue his CFF relevance and earn back his QB18 ADP. [0:24:30] - They think Noah Fifita, quarterback out of Arizona, is going too high due to his lack of rushing production and current top 10 QB status in ADP. [0:29:02] - Donovan Edwards, current ADP RB14, is discussed regarding his ability to fill the void left behind by Blake Corum. [0:34:29] - Peny Boone, RB transfer to Louisville, is analyzed with concerns raised about his performance translating to Power 4 competition and competition at the position in-school. [0:39:40] - Emeka Egbuka at Ohio State, current WR4, is debated in terms of Ryan Day's tendency to sit stars if not fully healthy and Egbuka's comparison to other receivers in drafts. [0:46:38] - Evan Stewart's first round ADP is discussed as too risky for a transfer player, despite his talent and Oregon's recent WR success. [0:54:33] - Kyron Drones, QB at Virginia Tech with a QB26 ADP, is highlighted for his returning cast and offensive coordinator's utilization of Drones' legs, though Jared argues his value in drafts is appropriate. [1:01:48] - Miller Moss, QB at USC, is discussed for his potential under Lincoln Riley's coaching and the value of getting a Lincoln Riley QB in the 10th round. [1:08:06] - Braylon McReynolds, RB at South Alabama with an ADP of RB99, is seen as a better value than Kentrel Bullock, while Jared is skeptical of his potential role. [1:13:55] - Kaden Feagin, RB at Illinois, is highlighted for his potential to become a workhorse back in one of the best rushing offenses in the country. [1:19:09] - Germie Bernard, transfer WR to Alabama who followed Kalen Deboer from Washington, is discussed in light of Deboer's ability to build offenses and his history of producing CFF WRs. [1:23:46] - Kyren Lacy, WR at LSU, is highlighted as a favorite value at WR over CJ Daniels, with Jared emphasizing Lacy's experience over Daniels. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - had plenty to say after Washington's 42-33 win over Stanford Saturday afternoon at Stanford Stadium. And the first thing they talked about was the atmosphere at the stadium - or lack of atmosphere. The announced attendance was around a little over 24,000 fans, but it felt like closer to half that number. And maybe half of THAT number were wearing Purple and Gold. The Huskies not only had to bring their own energy to the mix - which was difficult to do as many on the team were suffering from cold/flu symptoms, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr. - but they also had to do it down a number of key players. They did get Germie Bernard back, but Jalen McMillan once again wasn't able to get fully back in the mix. Julius Buelow did make his return, and the right guard started the game, which meant Parker Brailsford started at center. On defense, the injuries were even more prominent. Tuli Letuligasenoa was at the game and suited but did not play. And the Huskies were down three safeties - Asa Turner, Kamren Fabiculanan, and Vincent Nunley - so Makell Esteen made his first career start. Despite never trailing in the game, it always felt like the Cardinal were breathing down Washington's neck. Up 21-7 with 5 minutes left before halftime, Stanford was able to hit two field goals to bring the margin down to a single score. UW's offense rarely saw the field the first half, as Stanford had the ball for over 21 minutes. The guys talked about the Cardinal targeting the defensive backs, specifically Esteen and cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, questionable pass interference calls on both sides, and the glaring lack of holding calls made (again). After a quick break the guys turned to the other side of the ball, where the Huskies found a little more of the ball and also some timely plays - including a 92-yard pass from Penix to Ja'Lynn Polk for six. But two red zone turnovers in the fourth quarter made the game a lot closer than UW fans would have wanted, and the guys talked about the hit-and-miss nature of how the offense was as a whole, especially the receivers. And then there was even more talk about penalties, as both teams were hit with costly personal foul calls at various points that stalled drives. Before they close things out, Kim, Chris, and Scott give their final thoughts as the Huskies now get set to take another road trip - this time to USC - and the first College Football Playoff rankings come out on Halloween. How much credit will the Huskies get for being one of five Power-5 teams to stay unbeaten so far? The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - got up bright and early Saturday morning to offer up their thoughts on Washington's opponent today, the Stanford Cardinal, as well as put to bed any lingering questions surrounding the Huskies' 15-7 win over Arizona State last weekend. They start the conversation out with those lingering questions, as well as talk of sign stealing. It's become the hot topic in college football with what's going on right now at Michigan. Did it happen last weekend at Husky Stadium? And would UW moving from the north sideline to the south sideline help alleviate any possible sign stealing issues during games? The guys also recapped what they heard from the Washington players and coaches this week about the Arizona State game, what they learned from that game, and the motivation - especially on offense - to set things right today on the Farm. There is certainly a lot to watch out for with the Huskies on that side of the ball. After a quick break the guys turn their attention to today's game, starting with any injury updates. Jalen McMillan, Germie Bernard, Julius Buelow, Tuli Letuligasenoa, Asa Turner, and Kamren Fabiculanan are all players Kim will be looking for on the sidelines pregame, as well as safety Vincent Nunley. It's unclear what issue Nunley is dealing with at this time. Then talk turns to the job new Stanford Head Coach Troy Taylor has in front of him revamping the roster and culture on the Farm after the departure of long-time head coach David Shaw. Scott offers up a quick recruiting update, including thoughts on the two verbal commitments Washington received at the beginning of the week - and then Kim and Chris talk Husky Hoops for a minute. The men's team starts their 2023-24 season off with their exhibition game versus St. Martin's tomorrow night at Bank of America Arena. To wrap up the pregame show, the guys give their final thoughts on the game and what they expect to see this afternoon. The Washington Huskies may have been wearing 'Husky Royalty' jerseys for the first time Saturday night, but their performance against the Arizona State Sun Devils was nothing more than a royal pain in the butt for the home team. The Sun Devils were 27.5-point underdogs, yet held Washington to no offensive touchdowns and 13 yards rushing as the visitors. On top of that, the Washington Huskies shot themselves in the foot with four turnovers before the defense was able to find a massive takeaway of their own that turned out to be the difference in their 15-7 win over ASU Saturday night at Husky Stadium. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - went through it...the not so good, bad, and downright ugliness of it all, but at the end of the day they could only come up with one incontrovertible fact: the Huskies still figured out a way to win the game. Don't know how and don't know why - but the guys tried to break down the key points in the game to help offer some context to explain the unexplainable. Like how did ASU turn Washington's offense so completely pedestrian? And how did ASU's M.A.S.H. unit of an offensive line hold up against Washington's front seven? And why hadn't other teams tried what ASU found to be so successful? There were a few guys out for the Huskies as well in receivers Jalen McMillan, Germie Bernard, and DL Tuli Letuligasenoa. During the game RG Geirean Hatchett left the action and later on safety Kamren Fabiculanan got banged up with a leg injury and he was unable to return. The guys then talked about the team coming back out after halftime and promptly turning the ball over again, once more putting their defense on the spot. But Washington's defense came up with the goods time and time again, culminating in Mishael Powell's 89-yard pick-six to give Washington their first lead of the game with just over 8 minutes to play. Kim, Chris, and Scott also talked about how clutch placekicker Grady Gross was, as well as some of the interesting decisions by ASU Head Coach Kenny Dillingham that saw the Sun Devils go for it on fourth down six times (they only converted twice), and how eventually the defense was able to put the final nails in the coffin and secure their seventh win of the 2023 season and 14th in a row overall. Locked On Huskies - Daily Podcast on Washington Huskies Football & Basketball

The Washington Huskies have the best receiving corps in the country. However, after injuries to Jalen McMillan and Germie Bernard, the depth of that group could be tested in Washington's next matchup against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Led by Rome Odunze and Michael Penix Jr., the Husky offense is still arguably one of the best in the country, but might have to prove how deep they are. Join Locked On Huskies hosts Roman Tomashoff and Lars Hanson as they discuss Washington's receivers, give updates on some 2024 and 2025 recruits, and go in-depth on the defense and what they need to do to win the Pac-12. Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds caught up this week with a very busy Stephen Brooks from SpartanTailgate, covering the Michigan State Spartans for the 247Sports Network. In this UW opponent preview podcast, they talk about the bombshell story about Michigan State Head Coach Mel Tucker that came out Sunday, the installation of top MSU assistant Harlon Barnett and former head coach Mark Dantonio to take over the coaching vacuum left by the Tucker's suspension, and who will really be running the show heading into the Washington game - Barnett or Dantonio? The guys then talk about the expected atmosphere Saturday at Spartan Stadium. Brooks thinks it could be an 'all timer', and as much for the fact that they're going to be selling beer in the stadium for the first time ever as anything else going on. Then they get down to the Michigan State team the Huskies will face this weekend. How are they different than the team that came to Seattle last year? How are they similar? How much of an impact will the coaching changes make on what we see on the field from the Spartans? After a quick break the guys then delve into specific situations, starting with the quarterback. Gone is Payton Thorne to Auburn, in is Noah Kim. What do the fans think of Kim? What kind of QB will Washington face; a drop-back pocket passer or a dual-threat talent? Does Michigan State have an offense that can hold on to the ball, keep drives alive and score touchdowns? Brooks offers some insight into what kind of offense Washington fans will see from Michigan State on Saturday and what their game plan should be to keep Washington's offense off the field. And flipping over to the defensive side, do the Spartans have the ability to get to the quarterback and make things tough for Michael Penix Jr? Do they have a secondary that can disguise things and confuse Penix and UW's cadre of receivers? Kim asks Stephen about Germie Bernard and what kind of reception he should expect from the MSU faithful on Saturday. To finish things out, who is going to be the Michigan State head coach a year from now? Stephen only knows one thing right now; it's not going to be Mel Tucker. Outside of that, it's anybody's guess. And ultimately what are the keys for UW fans heading to East Lansing? Any tips for those traveling from Seattle? Stephen gives his thoughts on what the visiting fans should do to maximize their Michigan State game experience. The Dawgman interns - Jack McCauley and Intern Emeritus Luke Mounger - are back with their own spin on how the Washington Huskies will do in 2023, and they are going to break down a number of the position groups. Today they break down the receivers room, arguably the most talented single room in the entire Pac-12. But before they talk about the players in the room, they offer their postscript to those who have left; Lonyatta Alexander, Jabez Tinae, and Taj Davis. But with Denzel Boston and Germie Bernard on the 'come up' (as the kids would say), the losses should be mitigated as addition through subtraction. Then Jack and Luke break down the three freshmen that are currently going through fall camp - Keith Reynolds, Taeshaun Lyons, and Rashid Williams - and give their thoughts on whether they'll redshirt or not, and if there is one player that won't be redshirting, who would it be? And before they take a quick commercial break, Jack and Luke then go back to the two main takers in the room - Rome Odunze and Jalen McMillan. After the break, Luke gives credit to Washington's Recivers Coach JaMarcus Shephard when it comes to managing the personalities in the room, as well as the high level of expectations and accountability. Going back to the players in the room, Jack and Luke talk about Giles Jackson and Ja'Lynn Polk and how they can add their individual talents to the benefit of the whole. The guys' final thoughts include their expectations for the room in terms of production for the 2023 season with a revamped roster and the improvement from year one to year two in Shephard's room and Ryan Grubb's offense. DawgmanRadio: Who Won Day Five of Fall Camp?

Dawgman Radio

Opinions varied on whether it was the offense or the defense that got the upper hand Tuesday during Day Five of Washington's fall camp, held at Husky Stadium. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Scott Eklund, and Chris Fetters - all came with different takes, but also with the understanding that both sides of the ball did some very good things while Michael Penix Jr sat out his second-straight day. Head Coach Kalen DeBoer told the media after that nothing is wrong with Penix, it was just another day for him to help him with his load management on his arm. It gave even more reps to Dylan Morris and Austin Mack to share, and Eklund thought Morris may have had his best day of practice in the Purple and Gold that he's seen. He started out with a deep throw to Will Nixon early in practice and seemed to generally be in command of the offense. The true freshman Mack had his ups and downs as you would expect for a 17-year-old, but it's clear the stage is not too big for him. The guys also talked about the running backs and the receivers, who have stood out and who took advantage of their turns on Tuesday. Probably the biggest name that stood out was sophomore Germie Bernard. With Denzel Boston a little nicked up and not practicing at 100 percent, Bernard took charge and had a couple of very nice connections down the field with Mack, the last one going for 65 yards and a score. It was coincidentally the last play of the practice. After a quick break to pay some bills, the guys come back and talk about the other side of the ball. The Huskies came up with three interceptions on 'Takeaway Tuesday', one from Davon Banks, another from Elijah Jackson, and the final one came when Carson Bruener jumped a route and picked Morris off on a play that looked like it would have been destined for pay dirt. The guys talked about the other defensive standouts, including Alphonzo Tuputala - who is finally getting a chance to play in something other than a yellow jersey. The guys give their final thoughts on the day, and Kim also gave a reminder to anyone that wants to sign up for Run To Win's Legends Football Luncheon. Kim is MC'ing the event, one that will include Greg Lewis, Justin Glenn, JaMarcus Shephard, and more! The luncheon is in Club Husky and starts at Noon, but if you register you can come early to see the end of practice. Click HERE to register for the luncheon. The Washington Huskies took the field for their first day of fall camp under sunny skies and 70 degree temps. The guys from Dawgman.com were there and following the two-hour practice, they sat down to put a bow on what they saw. They discussed how efficient the offense looked and how Michael Penix Jr. looked like he was in mid-season form. Following that, they took a look at the tailbacks and discussed the battle between Cameron Davis, Dillon Johnson, Will Nixon, Sam Adams, Daniyel Ngata and Tybo Rogers and who looks like the most-ready to take over for Wayne Taulapapa. Johnson was getting his first significant reps since arriving in the spring. He definitely looks the part, but two of the guys felt that Davis had set himself apart from the rest and is the clear favorite to start at the tailback position. They then turned their attention to the wide receiver group and discussed how players like Germie Bernard and Denzel Boston would likely be starting at several programs in the country, but both are likely to see limited targets this fall with Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan and Ja'Lynn Polk demanding a lot of attention. Throw in three talented freshmen and the Huskies are in great shape for the forseeable future in the receiver corps. Moving over to the defensive side of the ball, the guys talked about the move of Voi Tunuufi to EDGE and how he looked along with the rest of the room, including Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui, Lance Holtzclaw and Milton Hopkins Jr. They also looked at the depth along the defensive line and linebacker and gave an early look at the secondary where Elijah Jackson and Jabbar Muhammad look to be the leading candidates to man the corner spots once the season gets underway in September. Well, the start to the week for MSU football was quite something. After a weekend of two decommits to the 2023 class, former 4-star receiver Germie Bernard enters the transfer portal after one year in East Lansing. Oh, and the entire coaching staff is still intact after a 5-7 season. And is having just 10 commits for the 2023 class before early signing day a problem? We look at both sides of that issue too. As we are one-ish month in the MSU basketball season, we talk about the biggest overreactions we have with friend of the program Sam Martin. Is Malik Hall the leading contender for team MVP? What's the most important stat so far? And what on earth can we make of the center position for MSU? It's been a heckuva week on Montlake, and we didn't even get a chance to sneak in some volleyball or soccer news. That's the kind of week it's been for Washington Athletics, and the guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - go over all the major talking points. To start, they go over the most recent coaching hires, as well as the hire of Courtney Morgan to be Washington's new Director of Player Personnel. And who is going to become Washington's Defensive Coordinator? The Huskies have already made one defensive coach hire in cornerbacks coach Julius Brown. And is there a chance DeBoer keeps more of the current staff on? Junior Adams will stay as his receivers coach; could Scott Huff and Ikaika Malloe also stick around? Next, they delve into the transfer portal, the recent departure of Cooper McDonald, and the Jake Haener saga that saw the former UW quarterback enter the portal then back out of it once Jeff Tedford was hired as Kalen DeBoer's replacement at Fresno State. After a quick break to pay some bills, the three get into a recruiting discussion that hits on a few of the key thoughts as Washington heads into the start of the mid-year signing period starting Wednesday. Who are the prospects taking official visits this weekend? We know current UW commit Germie Bernard is one. And who has DeBoer and his staff targeted? There's no question the new staff has some very different recruiting ideas in mind compared to the previous UW staff. The Dawgman guys also talk about the recent UW de-commitments (Jackson Stratton and Chance Bogan), and talk about other available players, depending on if they sign somewhere else starting Wednesday. The recruitniks need to keep watch of the signing lists on Wednesday to see who didn't sign. Could UW target some of them? The next topic is the Oregon coaching search and how it might affect Washington, as well as the rest of the Pac-12. Could the Ducks hire a coach that would make as big a splash as Lincoln Riley did at USC? Or will they struggle to find a replacement for Mario Cristobal? The men's basketball team, in a little over a week, has had a game rescheduled, has had to forfeit a game, and had to cancel their game at Gonzaga this Sunday due to 'COVID-related protocols'. This has not been a great time for Mike Hopkins and the team. They haven't been able to practice. How do they regroup and get back on track before conference play starts back up in late December?
