Hello and welcome to episode 111 of the Still Spinning Podcast. We are so excited to be back for the live recording!  Nicole had a HUGE laundry mishap the day we recorded this - she washed a fish oil supplement that was left inside a pocket and most of her clothes reeked of fish. Listen to the tale and try to guess if she is able to get the smell out. This also sparked a discussion around who is responsible for checking the pockets of the laundry.  Dan was traveling the past few weeks and finally made it to the Canadian Starbucks, the reason he got a passport! He tells us all about his trip, his dog's feelings about vacations and the Starbucks adventure he had across the border. Bonus discussion about a Canadian burger AND cows in Canada in general. Snooping versus sleuthing - what is the difference and have you (or would you? Or should you?) do either? Divorce lawyers and psychologists weigh in on this and Nicole shares a personal story about Googling her now-husband when they first met. And if you are dating in 2025 and not doing some research, I am worried for you. And finally, if you have a loved one with a tattoo and they DIE, are you cutting off that piece of skin and saving it? If you said yes, you are not alone! We discuss the story of a woman who did just that and Dan learns about one of Nicole's tattoos' live on the air! Thanks so much for joining us! You can watch the live taping most Mondays at 7 PM on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram OR wait until the official podcast release on Wednesday morning. If setting boundaries with your teen feels like trying to nail Jell-O to a wall—you're not alone. In this episode of Parenting Teens with Dr. Cam, I sit down with Matilda Gosling, social scientist and author of Teenagers: The Evidence Base, to break down the science behind boundary-setting that actually works. No more power struggles. No more guessing games. Just real, research-backed strategies to help you protect your teen and prepare them for the real world. Matilda brings both the data and the empathy, helping parents understand where to draw the line, when to back off, and how to keep the relationship strong while doing it. If you've ever asked yourself, “Am I being too strict? Too lenient?”—this episode is your answer. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE Why boundaries help teens feel safe, not smothered How to focus on the rules that really matter (and ditch the ones that don't) The difference between control and influence—and why one actually works How to set your own boundaries without feeling guilty or selfish 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS FOR PARENTS OF TEENS Prioritize the big stuff: Health, safety, and emotional well-being come first. Let go of the small battles. Your boundaries matter too: You're allowed to have limits—and your teen needs to see them. Respect their privacy: Snooping leads to secrets. Trust builds openness. Explain, don't dictate: When teens understand the why, they're more likely to follow through. Mistakes are part of the process: Boundaries aren't about perfection—they're about growth.

This week, I'm heading back to San Francisco's Chinatown for another delightfully chaotic mystery with our favourite sixty-something sleuth, Vera Wong. In Jesse Sutanto's latest novel, Vera Wong's Guide to Snooping on a Dead Man, the tea shop is still bustling, but what Vera's craving is just a little more excitement in her now much fuller life. When she encounters a young girl outside the police precinct, Vera senses a mystery in need of an answer, and she's back on the case! A locked briefcase, a viral social media moment, and a trail of secrets are far too much for the calming effects of a cup of her chrysanthemum tea.In this episode, I share my spoiler-free thoughts on this cosy, yet surprisingly dark sequel. I talk about why Vera continues to be such a compelling character and how this book explores found family and identity in the digital age.Whether you loved the first Vera Wong book or you're just dipping your toes into the world of cosy crime and cosy mysteries, this one has humour, heart, high-stakes sleuthing, and a grandmother who's got more guts than your average gumshoe. So, pop the kettle on, settle in, and let's chat all things books. Featured Links Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers Cosy Mysteries Playlist And don't forget, I'm back on Livestream for the Cure this year, on the 17th May. Tune in, take part, and please donate to this incredibly important cause. It's all in the name of Cancer Research.

Sarah's choices are evenly split between debut authors, new to her authors, and repeat authors. Food novels, rom-coms, thrillers (two with a mistaken identity element), and lighter reading are the picks for spring! Sarah has already read one of her picks — and one of Catherine's! And, Catherine has already started reading one of hers. Plus, their #1 picks for the spring.
