If setting boundaries with your teen feels like trying to nail Jell-O to a wall—you're not alone. In this episode of Parenting Teens with Dr. Cam, I sit down with Matilda Gosling, social scientist and author of Teenagers: The Evidence Base, to break down the science behind boundary-setting that actually works. No more power struggles. No more guessing games. Just real, research-backed strategies to help you protect your teen and prepare them for the real world. Matilda brings both the data and the empathy, helping parents understand where to draw the line, when to back off, and how to keep the relationship strong while doing it. If you've ever asked yourself, “Am I being too strict? Too lenient?”—this episode is your answer. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE Why boundaries help teens feel safe, not smothered How to focus on the rules that really matter (and ditch the ones that don't) The difference between control and influence—and why one actually works How to set your own boundaries without feeling guilty or selfish 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS FOR PARENTS OF TEENS Prioritize the big stuff: Health, safety, and emotional well-being come first. Let go of the small battles. Your boundaries matter too: You're allowed to have limits—and your teen needs to see them. Respect their privacy: Snooping leads to secrets. Trust builds openness. Explain, don't dictate: When teens understand the why, they're more likely to follow through. Mistakes are part of the process: Boundaries aren't about perfection—they're about growth.

This week, I'm heading back to San Francisco's Chinatown for another delightfully chaotic mystery with our favourite sixty-something sleuth, Vera Wong. In Jesse Sutanto's latest novel, Vera Wong's Guide to Snooping on a Dead Man, the tea shop is still bustling, but what Vera's craving is just a little more excitement in her now much fuller life. When she encounters a young girl outside the police precinct, Vera senses a mystery in need of an answer, and she's back on the case! A locked briefcase, a viral social media moment, and a trail of secrets are far too much for the calming effects of a cup of her chrysanthemum tea.In this episode, I share my spoiler-free thoughts on this cosy, yet surprisingly dark sequel. I talk about why Vera continues to be such a compelling character and how this book explores found family and identity in the digital age.Whether you loved the first Vera Wong book or you're just dipping your toes into the world of cosy crime and cosy mysteries, this one has humour, heart, high-stakes sleuthing, and a grandmother who's got more guts than your average gumshoe. So, pop the kettle on, settle in, and let's chat all things books. Featured Links Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers Cosy Mysteries Playlist And don't forget, I'm back on Livestream for the Cure this year, on the 17th May. What will it take? - There were concerns that hockey wouldn't stick, but even with missing the playoffs, attendance is solid and it seems to be working. What does that say about this fanbase? Now or Never

Unleash your inner snoop, with stories of people trying to get to the bottom of a mystery that's been hanging over them for years. When Darren Bernhardt and his sister Sandy started to clear out their childhood home after their dad passed away, at first it felt like they were snooping. Their dad was private, tight-lipped, and kind of a grump. But then they started finding things he'd tucked away in sock drawers and cupboards, that made them see their dad in a whole new light.Solving genealogy mysteries has become a bit of an obsession for Lauren Robilliard, who's helped hundreds of people track down biological family members. For this self-taught "super sleuth," it all started when she was a young girl who knew she was adopted, and wanting to find answers about who she is. When Now or Never producer James Chaarani bought a remote cabin in the woods with his partner, they got more than they were bargaining for — they inherited most of the belongings of the previous owner who lived (and tragically died) there. Since then, they've been trying to figure out who he was, and how to peacefully co-exist with the ghost of a dead man.Growing up near Larder Lake in northern Ontario, Jason Ploeger had always heard local rumours about a taxi cab that mysteriously ended up at the bottom of the lake. He takes us on an adventure of murky dives and unopened whiskey bottles, and tells us the surprising truth behind the legend.
