NHL reporter Sean Gentille from The Athletic joined the show. The Penguins have picks 11 and 12 in the opening round of the NHL Draft tonight and Sean isn't sure if it's in their best interest to move up. Sean said being in the first 9 picks would be ideal. He mentioned that it could turn into a crapshoot like it normally does. Sean noted that the Islanders are a team to watch tonight. Sean looked at what Kyle Dubas has on his plate heading into the weekend and what type of players the Pens could be looking for. With free agency looming, Dubas has plenty in front of him. Chris said the idea of ‘keeping up with the Joneses' doesn't apply to the Cleveland Browns. It would be different if Watt helped win a lot of big games, but he has zero playoff wins in his career and he's done very little individually in those games. We got into the debates that have happened between Steelers & Browns fans over their top defensive players. Chris noted he thinks the deal the Browns gave Garrett was a mistake too, but that organization is used to that. We can acknowledge that Watt has been the better player than Garrett, but it doesn't mean you should pay for his future. We dove a little bit more into the TJ Watt contract standoff. NHL reporter Sean Gentille from The Athletic joined the show. The Penguins have picks 11 and 12 in the opening round of the NHL Draft tonight and Sean isn't sure if it's in their best interest to move up. Sean said being in the first 9 picks would be ideal. He mentioned that it could turn into a crapshoot like it normally does. Sean noted that the Islanders are a team to watch tonight. Sean looked at what Kyle Dubas has on his plate heading into the weekend and what type of players the Pens could be looking for. With free agency looming, Dubas has plenty in front of him. Tyler said the Pens have a lot of gaps in the bottom six that need to be filled. TK thinks Mike Sullivan evaluated his situation and that other teams would want him, so he went to Kyle Dubas and wants big acquisitions. Tyler thinks things went sideways on the future of the deal and personnel. He thinks Dubas has input on who plays on the power play and other coaching decisions. Former Penguin Tyler Kennedy joined the show. TK thinks Kyle Dubas said and did the right thing today, parting ways with Mike Sullivan. He also thinks Dubas handled things correctly with Sidney Crosby and made mention that it would be a longer conversation if Crosby had an issue with it. Tyler said even Sid can't pull off being a star player along with holding down GM duties like some stars tend to do. He suggested that Sid is aware a change needs to be made. TK said this is a better fit job for a younger coach looking to prove himself and not a veteran coach ready to win. Tyler thinks Sid had a great relationship with Sullivan, but he was able to acknowledge it was time for a change.

For the first time since 2019, a Pittsburgh team has fired its head coach, as the Penguins parted ways with Mike Sullivan earlier today. Poni was surprised by the amount of people that were thanking Sullivan on his way out. He also noted that Mike Tomlin, once his time finally comes, won't be getting that same praise out the door. Tomlin has more good seasons than Sullivan, but has he overstayed his welcome longer? The guys wondered if it would be a day of celebration when Tomlin is done. Dubas said he hasn't had any post-season meetings with Mike Sullivan and will meet with him Tuesday to sort through everything. There are rumors Sullivan could coach the New York Rangers. Dubas said Sullivan has been vocal this is where he wants to be. Dubas said he had conversations with Tristan Jarry and Ned and is speaking as if both will be back next season.
