You are the most important factor in your success! So when you indulge in actions, behavior or have thought patterns that hold you back - you are practicing self -sabotage. Self-sabotage is defined as a phenomenon whereby you knowingly or unknowingly throw hurdles and obstacles in your own path. When you deviate from a path that you know will give you success. When you undermine your goals and your value. I believe we all do this from time to time however, self sabotage can become a vicious cycle that will lead to failure and a destruction of self confidence. The signs of Self-sabotage are often subtle but because it is often caused by fear of failure and low self esteem, the resultant failure from self-sabotage reinforces the fear of failure and lowers the person's self esteem leading to more self-sabotage hence the viscous cycle. Thankfully breaking the cycle of self-sabotage is quite easy and you can easily do it and become your own ally and best cheerleader. This episode highlights how this can be achieved.
Setting boundaries with family members can be sooo difficult yet often necessary to have a healthy and strong relationships. Most of us would rather avoid the conversation choosing rather to hide the hurt and anger we feel when our boundaries are violated, this overtime in some cases leads to resentment and bitterness. When we're young, most of us don't think about how to set boundaries with our family. Our families, especially our parents, have a say in nearly every aspect of our lives, and we usually accept that — until we're older and they continue trying to play this role. For some, it's the in-laws who make our lives a misery, not necessarily because they are wicked or out to get us, but more often because we put up a smile face and they assume we are fine with their actions when we are not. The fact that boundaries are important in relationships underscores the importance of setting and respecting boundaries. It's important to understand and respect each other's boundaries in a family, just as it's important to respect the boundaries of people whom one does not know very well. One good way to avoid having your boundaries crossed is to have a honest conversation about boundaries with people you love and value- family. This episode shares with you the 6 factors that can help and guide you in having a fruitful conversation with family.
“Your personal boundaries protect the inner core of your identity and your right to choices.” – Gerard Manley Hopkins Personal boundaries are the limits we set for ourselves as individuals in relationships. Setting and enforcing boundaries is a skill that many of us don't have. Having boundaries means honoring ourselves as a separate individual with needs and wants that often differ from others. Without healthy boundaries, we end up allowing others to override our own feelings and desires. While setting boundaries are can be tough, they are really important for maintaining healthy relationships. Boundaries are essential in all relationships – with our spouse, parents, children, friends, boss, and so on. Without boundaries, we may feel suffocated, unable to express our true feelings and needs. Boundaries protect us from being mistreated or taken advantage of because they communicate our needs and expectations. Boundaries are good for everyone. Sometimes, boundaries are met with anger or resistance (hence our reluctance to set them). But it's not wrong or mean to set boundaries. Boundaries aren't meant to punish or control other people. We set boundaries for our own wellbeing, but they aren't just good for us – they're good for everyone involved as boundaries actually make relationships easier. This episode delves into the why and how to set healthy boundaries with the people in our lives where necessary.
Procrastination is a subtle vision killer. It is also a thief of time. We all procrastinate but procrastination can easily become a habit and consistent procrastination will result in failure. As a matter of fact, chronic procrastination will blur your vision and future. Success requires consistent action, the momentum of which fuels motivation while procrastination kills motivation. Some people say they are waiting for the right time to face their task, take a decision of go for their goals. There isn't a right time. The right time is whenever you start. This episode explores the reasons we procrastinate and shares actionable and practicable ways to overcoming procrastination.
You Have Enough Time! You have a enough for the life you want. The most common reason people give for not achieving their goals is a lack of time. However, we all get given 24hours a day. There's a big difference between being interested in achieving a goal and being committed to that goal Interest is being curious. It is trying, doing what we can to achieve our goals Commitment is dedication to, or even obsession with, our goals. Commitment requires being all in. If you are committed to your goal, you make it the priority and allocate time for action on that goal. Commitment requires you to do whatever it takes where as “interest” means you'll do just enough but not more. Complete commitment to a goal means that you're not going to let anything stand in your way. This episode explores what it means to be committed and the steps you need to take to be committed to your goals. Your goals will remain wishes or just dreams until you commit to achieving them, it's time to stop being someone who tells stories of why you aren't achieving your goals to someone who is a great achiever.
