Feeling stuck in survival mode—skipping workouts, stress-snacking, sleeping less, and calling it "good enough"? In this fireside chat, we unpack how that bar quietly drops and what to do when "good enough" stops being enough. You'll learn how to spot the red flags, reframe your mindset, and raise your floor with small shifts that actually stick during busy seasons and the holidays. We riff on five everyday arenas where standards slip—and how to course-correct without perfectionism: Food noise vs food joy: enjoy treats on purpose, not by accident The good-enough workout: protect the appointment, adjust the dose Morning light vs winter blues: use light as a free energy reset Stress vs rest at family gatherings: step-out rituals that save your tone Gratitude as a reset: one specific thank-you that changes your day Plus, we show you how to use habit anchors to make consistency automatic and craft a one-line floor statement you can run for the next 7 days. Why do we sabotage the things we say we want? Why do we shrink ourselves, hesitate, or pull back right when progress is within reach? In this episode of The Collective, Chance and Shaun sit down with Alana Stott — author, advocate, and speaker — to unpack the mechanics of self-sabotage: where it comes from, why it continues, and how we break the cycle.Together we explore:• Childhood patterns and internalized stories that shape adult behavior• The fear of success — and why it's more common than fear of failure• Why we mistrust good things when we've learned to expect the opposite• How self-sabotage hides inside “being realistic,” “staying humble,” or “not wanting to be a burden”• The disconnect between what we want and what we believe we deserve• What accountability actually looks like — and why awareness alone isn't enough• How to stop shrinking yourself to make others comfortableThis conversation is raw, honest, and deeply human. If you've ever felt stuck, hesitant, or trapped by your own patterns, this episode will help you see the loop clearly — and step out of it.New episodes of The Collective every week.Join us as we learn, build, and grow — together.#TheCollective #SelfSabotage #AlanaStott #Mindset #Growth #TraumaPatterns #PersonalDevelopment #FearOfSuccess

In this episode, Cindy Esliger discusses the pattern of catastrophizing that keeps us stuck in inaction and blocks career opportunities before we even give ourselves a chance to succeed. Catastrophizing - the anxious thought patterns that only allow us to imagine the worst-case outcome of any situation - is an exhausting form of self-sabotage that is keeping us stuck in place. But it can be disrupted, and Cindy breaks down how to identify when we're engaging in catastrophizing, and how we can learn to challenge those thoughts before they drag us down. What does catastrophizing look like? Cindy identifies the five most common cognitive distortions that feed our spiraling: 1. Catastrophizing, 2. Magnification, 3. All or nothing thinking, 4. Overgeneralization, and 5. Blaming. These distortions keep us locked in a loop of stress and stalled momentum. How do we know if we're falling into these patterns? Cindy offers five red flags to watch for: 1. Avoiding new opportunities, 2. Overpreparing or aiming for perfection, 3. Reacting emotionally to changes, 4. Looping negative thoughts, and 5. Discounting our wins. Catastrophizing is anticipating the worst that could happen without ever considering a neutral or even positive outcome. We need to learn to break the cycle. Cindy suggests practical strategies like a thought audit, reframing the situation, experimenting with action, and tracking our growth. Negative thought patterns don't make us weak; they make us human. But they are survival strategies that have overstayed their welcome. We may not consciously choose to spiral, but we can consciously choose to overcome catastrophizing with Cindy's guidance.Resources discussed in this episode:Guide to Dismantling the Disaster MindsetAstronomic AudioConfidence Collective—Contact Cindy Esliger Career Confidence Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | linkedin | email Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. 7 Shadow Clues That Reveal Your True Calling - Carl Jung (Jungian Philosophy). Carl Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist who believed that the human mind has two layers - the conscious, which is everything we're aware of, and the unconscious, which holds the thoughts, emotions, and memories we've pushed out of awareness. And deep within that unconscious lies what Jung called the shadow - the hidden side of ourselves. We suppress these parts because, at some point, we learned they weren't acceptable. Maybe we were told to stay quiet, to be “good,” or to hide our emotions - so we buried whatever didn't seem to fit. But Jung believed that if we truly want to understand who we are, we have to stop running from those hidden parts and start listening to them. Because here's the thing - your shadow isn't just the darkness you try to hide. It also carries your unlived potential: your creativity, your voice, your courage, your power - and often, the clues to your real calling. Jung's philosophy is often referred to as “Jungian Philosophy”. He has also published multiple books like The Psychology of the Unconscious, Man and His Symbols, The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious, Modern Man In Search of a Soul, The Psychology of the Transference, Memories, Dreams, and Thoughts, and The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious. In this podcast, we're going to explore 7 shadow clues that reveal your true calling. So here are 7 shadow clues that reveal your true calling from the philosophy of Carl Jung - 01. Feeling Stuck, Numb, or Disconnected 02. Strong Reaction to Someone Else's Behaviour 03. Repeating Patterns or Failures 04. Messages from the Dreams 05. Stories, Movies, or Characters You're Drawn To 06. When Life Mirrors Your Inner World 07. Self-Sabotage and Avoidance I hope you enjoyed listening to these 7 shadow clues that reveal your true calling from the philosophy of Carl Jung. Carl Jung, together with Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler, is one of the 3 founders of psychoanalysis which is a set of psychological theories and methods aiming to release repressed emotions and experiences - in other words, to make the unconscious conscious. Jung was born in Switzerland in 1875 and died in 1961, leaving behind great works in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology and religious studies. Jung had Freud as a mentor for a good part of his career but later he departed from him. This division was painful for Jung and it led him to found his own school of psychology, called analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis. If classical psychoanalysis focuses on the patient's past, as early experiences are very important in personality development, analytical psychology primarily focuses on the present, on mythology, folklore, and cultural experiences, to try to understand human consciousness. One of the most important ideas of analytical psychology which Jung founded is the process of individuation, which is the process of finding the self - something Jung considered an important task in human development. While he did not formulate a systematic philosophy, he is nonetheless considered a sophisticated philosopher - his school of thought dubbed “Jungian philosophy”. Its concepts can apply to many topics covered in the humanities and the social sciences. A good part of his work was published after his death and indeed there are still some articles written by him that to this day have yet to be published. Some of his most important books are: “Psychology of the Unconscious”, “Man and His Symbols”, “The Archetypes and The Collective Unconscious”, “Modern Man In Search of a Soul”, “The Psychology of the Transference”, “Memories, Dreams, Thoughts”, and “The Relations Between the Ego and the Unconscious”. Besides being a great writer and a researcher, he was also an artist, a craftsman and even a builder. His contribution is enormous and there is a great deal we can learn from his works.

The GAP is the critical 5-second window between a trigger and your automatic reaction. Most people live with a narrow gap, operating on reactive autopilot. To design the life you desire, you must learn to widen The GAP, move from reactive to responsive, and consciously choose your actions based on the universal law of cause and effect. This episode sets the stage for a powerful new series that will introduce tools like the BS Buster (Beliefs and Stories) and the P.A.C.E. Protocol to help you master this critical space. Mentioned in this episode: Personal development trap, self-sabotage, The GAP, Gap Thinking Framework, reactive vs. responsive mindset, law of cause and effect, decision-making, triggers, thinking patterns. Key Takeaways: You can consume all the personal development content in the world and still be stuck if you don't learn how to think. The key to change is not intelligence or discipline; it's controlling a critical 5-second window Randy calls "The GAP." The GAP is the space between a trigger (stimulus) and your reaction. Most people live with a narrow, reactive gap. To design your life, you must learn to widen The GAP and move from being reactive to being responsive. Your results are governed by the law of cause and effect. By consciously choosing your response in The GAP, you become the cause of your new reality. The greatest gift you have is your ability to choose. Being indecisive is still a choice. This episode introduces the upcoming Gap Thinking Framework, which includes tools like the BS Buster and the PACE Protocol. Questions Answered in This Episode: Why am I still struggling despite reading all the personal development books? What is "The GAP" and why is it the key to changing my life? What is the difference between reacting and responding to a trigger? How can I stop self-sabotaging my own success? What is the law of cause and effect and how does it apply to my thoughts? How do I start to become aware of my own thinking patterns? What is the Gap Thinking Framework and what will it cover? Key People, Concepts, & Terms: People: Randy Wilson, Jim Rohn, Earl Nightingale, Tony Robbins, David Neagle. Concepts: The GAP, Gap Thinking Framework, Reactive vs. Responsive, Law of Cause and Effect, Self-Sabotage, Triggers, Patterns, BS Buster (Beliefs & Stories), PACE Protocol, Rich Mind Assessment. Books/Programs Mentioned: Think Big (co-authored by Randy Wilson)
Why Being Hard on Yourself is Killing Your Success(Inspired by Ed Mylett & Neuroscience)1. Your Worst Enemy is You The Mistake: Negative self-talk like "I'm not good enough" or "I always mess up." The Science: Self-criticism spikes cortisol (stress hormone), shutting down creativity and problem-solving . Fix It: Talk to yourself like you would to a best friend. Example: "I messed up that presentation." → "I'll improve next time. What's one thing I did well?"2. Confidence is a Skill (Not Luck) The Lie: "Confidence comes from never failing." The Truth: Confidence comes from preparation. Golden Rule: For 1 minute on stage, train for 1,000 minutes (Ed's 10,000-hour principle) . Action: Master one small skill this week (e.g., eye contact, storytelling).3. Name Your "Demons" to Tame Them Your mind has "voices": The Perfectionist, The Complainer, The Fearful Child. Strategy: Notice negative thoughts ("Ugh, I'm so stupid"). Label them: "Ah, there's The Hyper-Critic again." Thank them: "Thanks for sharing, but I've got this." Why It Works: Naming emotions reduces their power by 50% (UCLA study) .4. Forgive Faster Than Anyone Else Stock Traders' Secret: The best forgive mistakes instantly—no dwelling. Try This: Drop a glass? "I forgive myself." Bomb a meeting? "What's the lesson? Onward." Ed's Hack: "Speed of forgiveness = Speed of success."5. Gratitude Overrides Negativity 1,000 Thank-Yous a Day: Floods your brain with serotonin (joy chemical). Example: "Thank you for this coffee." "Thank you for the traffic—extra podcast time!" Result: No mental space for self-hate.30-Second Action Plan Pause: Next time you screw up, say: "I'm human. What's the lesson?" Label: Identify one negative thought today (e.g., "The Imposter Syndrome"). Gratitude Bomb: Text someone "Thank you for ______." Right now.Key Quote"Self-love isn't earned—it's the baseline. You wouldn't starve a plant for growing crooked. Don't starve your soul for being human."Your Turn: Which "demon" (Perfectionist, Critic, etc.) will you disarm today? Why This Works: Brain Rewiring: Self-compassion activates the prefrontal cortex (problem-solving) . Success Proof: Top performers like Joel Bauer and traders use these exact tools.Bonus: Try *"The 5-Second Rule"* (Mel Robbins): When negativity hits, interrupt it by counting *"5-4-3-2-1—STOP."* Then replace it with gratitude.

It is that time of year here in the U.S. where many will reflect on what they are thankful for. In this current age where bad news and reasons to despair abound, it is even ore important to fight for and seek out the good and positive in our lives. But even for those of us who see value in this tradition of listing what we have to give thanks for, it often remains only a once per year thing. On today's Shift Break we will be chatting about what truly being thankful should lead to in the way we live and act toward the people we have in our lives and businesses and even to ourselves when the opportunities and challenges that make up daily work life arrive. When we really believe and know that we are thankful, and we allow ourselves to be impacted by it, great things are more likely to happen and to be recognized when they do. If you've ever felt like you were doing great with your diet or training, only to fall off track the moment people start noticing your results, this episode will hit home. When Rest Feels Wrong: Why You Can't Relax & How to Feel Safe RestingDo you ever sit down to rest… and immediately feel tense, guilty, or like you “should” be doing something? In this episode of The Restored Minds Show, licensed therapist Matt Codde, LCSW explores why rest can actually feel unsafe for people living in chronic anxiety, stress, or high-performance mode. Matt explains how busyness becomes a persona, how overworking turns into emotional avoidance, and why your nervous system doesn't trust stillness — even when your life looks “successful” on the outside. If you feel restless when you slow down, or you only allow yourself to rest when you've “earned it,” this episode will help you understand what's really going on underneath and how to start re-teaching your body that it's safe to stop.
Ever wonder if you’re being too hard on yourself… or not hard enough? Welcome to the club. In this episode Harps and I throw ourselves into the old messy middle where self-improvement meets self-compassion. We call out the way we talk to ourselves and question when does the “you’ve got this” turn into delusion, and when 'being honest' becomes you verbally drop-kicking your own soul. Send us a textIn this episode, I'm calling myself and every other dreamer out. For years, I carried the same vision in my head, replayed the same fantasy, and convinced myself that “dreamer magic” would somehow bring it to life. I could imagine every detail with perfect clarity, but I wasn't taking the consistent action necessary to turn that vision into reality. I talk openly about how dreamers get stuck in the cycle of dreaming without doing—circling the same Pinterest boards, waiting for signs, relying on manifestation, or hoping something external will shift on our behalf. This episode breaks down the difference between imagination and discipline, and why potential feels so intoxicating while execution feels uncomfortable.I also explore the emotional addiction behind dreaming: the dopamine hit, the sense of possibility, and the escapism that makes fantasy feel safer than action. To make this relatable, I draw parallels to how we romanticize people and relationships based on potential while ignoring reality, and how that same behavior shows up in our creative and professional lives. Through my own birthday reflection, I share how leaning too heavily on dreamer magic delayed my growth and kept me detached from the work required to build what I envision. If you've ever felt like your dreams never seem to materialize, or if you catch yourself waiting for the “perfect moment,” the “right sign,” or the “right energy” to start, this episode will challenge that mindset. I emphasize that dreams are previews, not finished films, and they do not transform into reality without intentional, uncomfortable steps. This episode is a direct activation: stop circling the airport and start taking the small, grounded actions that bring your dream out of your head and into your life. If you're ready to trade fantasy for forward motion, this is your starting point.
We were all taught how to eat and move and exist in our bodies. The “shoulds” that you learn from your parents, diet/wellness/fitness culture, magazines, media, movies, family and friends can keep your nervous system stuck in a sympathetic response. When you live in chronic stress or survival states, your system prioritizes safety over sensation. That means you may default to habits that feel familiar and not ones that feel nourishing. You may be engaging in “healthy” acts and feel absolutely horrible because they are not what your body may resonate with or need.Yet, let's normalize that following rigid food or exercise rules can feel stabilizing. This is because they reduce uncertainty. Safety can then get connected to the felt sense of rigidity, where all other feedback from your body about what it needs for flow, play, and long term safety gets drowned out.Exploring what would feel best to you and your present day body can be a journey into self leadership. JOIN THE 7 DAY RESET - ▶️ www.therebuiltman.com/7dayreset In this Q&A edition of The Rebuilt Man Podcast, Coach Frank and Head Coach Arnold answer two deeply personal questions from men inside the Brotherhood, and the conversation sheds light on two obstacles that silently destroy momentum in a man's life: fear-driven self-sabotage and isolation from other men. Questions answered in this episode 1️⃣ "Why do I get sick right before big moments like dates or important events — even though I'm living a healthy lifestyle?" 2️⃣ "How do I build accountability with other men when I've been hiding this part of my life for years?" Key Topics Covered The subconscious identity patterns that create physical symptoms Self-sabotage and the "upper limit problem" Fear vs. courage — why fear never disappears and why that's not the real problem How the brain looks for what you expect — good or bad Why adding more habits doesn't always solve anxiety The truth about accountability — and why most men get it completely wrong Vulnerability as strength — not weakness Isolation vs. connection — and why freedom requires brotherhood Radical honesty as the beginning of transformation Big Lessons You don't need to eliminate fear — you need the courage to act despite it. Your body will often create "exit strategies" when your subconscious is afraid of success. Accountability isn't another man policing you — it's having a judgment-free space where you can run toward support instead of away from it. Vulnerability is not weakness — it is masculine power. Addiction thrives in secrecy. Freedom grows in community. Who this episode is for Men who are: Tired of sabotaging progress Stuck in cycles of fear or avoidance Afraid of being seen as "weak" Doing the work alone and burning out Ready for brotherhood, support, and transformation Join the Brotherhood If you're ready to stop fighting alone and step into a container built for growth, support, and freedom: ➡ Join The Rebuilt Man Skool Community — Free 7-Day Trial www.TheRebuiltMan.com/7dayreset Inside you'll gain access to: Daily accountability Weekly coaching The 7-Day Reset The 12-Week "Reboot Your Life" Framework And a brotherhood of men who refuse to quit – Follow Coach Frank: IG - https://www.instagram.com/coachfrankrich YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@CoachFrankRich Website - https://www.rebuiltrecovery.com/homepage

I dive into why you can still be ‘doing everything and stuck in limbo', how my relationship came up in the cards, the horse and chalice analogy that showed me that I'm trying to control everything to try and find safety and why spirituality doesn't have to mean Tulum, cambo for breakfast, or wafting around in white pants - and how I'm being pulled into a version of “spiritual + grounded + science” that actually feels like me.

Leigh Ann and returning guest Carol Look discuss the transformative power of gratitude and EFT tapping, exploring how these practices can enhance emotional well-being. They delve into the skepticism surrounding gratitude, the importance of embodying it rather than merely intellectualizing it, and the dangers of toxic positivity. The conversation highlights the significance of acknowledging pain before embracing gratitude, understanding self-sabotage in happiness, and the dysregulation that can accompany joy. They emphasize the need for daily practices to build resilience and navigate emotional triggers, ultimately advocating for a compassionate approach to personal growth and emotional health.Product Discount Codes + Links2025 Holistic Holiday Gift Guide: HereHerbal Face Food: Website (Discount Code: LAL30)The Fullest: Website (discount code: LEIGH15)Healing Alchemy Membership: Learn MoreEpisode LinksYes, Thank You PortalCarol's New Book: Yes, Thank YouGuest InfoCarol Look - WebsiteCarol Look - InstagramRelated EpisodesPodcast Ep. 178: Sheri Salata - Creating a Life of Joy and AuthenticityPodcast Ep. 168: Jonny Miller - Finding Balance: The Art of Emotional and Nervous System RegulationPodcast Ep. 155: Aline LaPierre - Connecting Mind, Body, and Emotion with NeuroAffective TouchWork w/Leigh AnnLearn: What is EVOX Therapy?Book: Schedule a Session or FREE Discovery CallMembership: What is The Healing Alchemy MembershipConnect w/Me & Learn MoreWebsiteInstagramTiktokYoutube
