TV, It’s all we've got!

This week we celebrated Amazon Prime by choosing The Samaritan and Little Fires Everywhere currently streaming on the platform.   Dad and I didn't realise it at the time, but both of the offers from this week involved fire and lots of questions that needed answers. Movie turned TV series ‘A League of Their Own' is now streaming on Amazon Prime. This series explores some of the same ideas presented in the movie whilst delving deeper into topics that were taboo in the past. ‘Sandman' now streaming on Netflix has gotten its viewers creating memes and spotting famous faces in the cast. This week saw dad and I watch two shows with a strong storyline and a whole lotta action… for different reasons of course! ‘The Lincoln Lawyer' series, currently streaming on Netflix, follows the life of a lawyer who runs his firm from the back seat of his.. you guessed it, Lincoln! ‘The Terminal List', streaming on Amazon Prime is about a Navy Seal who has lost everything but his fight for revenge. This week saw dad and I taking on 2 very serious issues. In Space 22 on ABC iView, we saw how art can make a huge impact to people with mental health issues and on Paramount Plus we found out exactly who is Ghislaine Maxwell. To hear our thoughts hit that play button now!

This weeks episode saw dad and I questioning what makes a hero when we watched The Mandalorian on Disney + and The Boys on Amazon Prime. 

Origin stories take centre stage in this weeks episode of TV, it's all we've got! Dad asked me to watch Disney's latest addition to the Star Wars universe; Obi-Wan Kenobi. I can guarantee that it brought back some memories as I have only ever watched Star Wars with dad. We both watched The Kings Man, as I was visiting dad in Melbourne. It started off slow, so tune in to hear our final thoughts. We also talk about Top Gun: Maverick, apparently dad is a huge Tom Cruise fan! 

Dad and I didn't realise that we gave each other shows with numerals in their titles for this weeks show. ‘Girls 5 Eva' is a show about a girl group who unite to revive their career and ‘Ten Percent' is about a talent agency that is hoping to stay open. So, what else do these shows have in common? Well you'll have to tune it to find out!

This week I gave dad a real tear jerker when I asked him to watch ‘As we see it'; a show on Amazon Prime which shows you the lives of three friends living on the Spectrum. He recommend that I sail the seas with ‘Black Sails', now streaming on Netflix. A tale we all know well- Blackbeard, his treasure and the fight to find it. These shows are proof that Stan Australia knows good TV. With Good Behaviour making you fall for criminals and some hard truths revealed in Billy the Kid  it is safe to say that dad and I had a lot to discuss. Tune in now to hear our thoughts 

Dad and I did our bit for Netflix this week, by giving each other shows both streaming on the service. Dad gave me ‘Anatomy of a Sandal' a limited series about a huge scandal. I gave dad ‘Russian Doll' which encouraged him to think a bit more than he wanted! Is that a good or a bad thing? Tune in now to find out

To say that both shows we watched this week were interesting is a bit of an understatement. Dad asked me to watch game turn TV series ‘Halo' now streaming on Paramount + and I asked him to watch ‘Minx' now streaming on Stan. Two very different shows so did we like them both? After a 2 week break, dad and I are back and we have a lot to talk about! I asked him to watch ‘The Gilded Age' now streaming on Paramount + and he asked me to watch ‘Deep Water' which is streaming on Amazon Prime. The question is this- is ‘Deep Water' worth the watch? Tune in now to find out! 

This week I asked dad to watch a series that has been streaming on Netflix for a little while - ‘The Good Place'. Featuring Ted Danson and Kristen Bell, this series is hard to describe but will definitely make you giggle. As for me, I watched one of dads favourite shows- ‘Blue Bloods',  now streaming on Paramount Plus with re-runs on Foxtel. This is the cop show that dad has watched since it's first episode, and has been a staple in his life ever since. Will it be mine? Tune in now to find out!

Dad went easy on me this week and asked me to watch a show that I have already watched. Admittedly I loved it so much the first time around I watched it again. ‘Bridgerton', is one of Netflix's highest streaming series and season 2 is out soon! I asked dad to watch a documentary about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz now streaming on Amazon Prime called ‘Lucy and Desi'. This documentary was directed by Amy Poelher, so was a must see from me- but did dad feel the same? 

This week dad asked me to watch a show based on one of his favourites ‘Star Trek'- Picard now streaming on Amazon Prime. It was nice to escape reality for a while in this sci fi series. The series I asked him to watch was based on reality, well partially! ‘Inventing Anna', which is now streaming on Netflix has tongues wagging for all the wrong reasons. This weeks episode saw dad and I watch 2 shows with very strong female characters taking the lead. With the hilarious and clever writing in ‘The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel', now streaming on Amazon Prime; and the gore and secret filled ‘Yellowjackets' now streaming on Paramount Plus. It's safe to say we had a great week watching tv! 

This week dad set me a mission to watch ‘Young Wallander' on Netflix; the prologue to ‘Wallander' a show that dad watched some time ago… if you are in to crime solving mysteries then this show is for you! If you are more into rom coms then tune into the show I asked dad to watch this week. ‘Starstruck' now streaming on ABC iview. As always, we talk about what we enjoyed, what we didn't and how Rose Mattafeo and I have a little too much in common 

This weeks episode sees dad and I watching one partly improvised show with Netflix's ‘Murderville' and another fully scripted show also on Netflix called ‘Monogamy'. These shows surprised us for different reasons.. tune in to hear why now 

Just when dad thought he was done with his days watching animated musicals, Disney introduced us to ‘Encanto'. With its catchy tunes ( thank you Lin Manuel Miranda) and beautiful story you only have to listen to the first few seconds of this episode to know dads feeling about my choice for him this week! Apologies in advance for his behaviour.. I can not be held responsible for his actions! This week dad and I took it back to a time where free to air was the main way to watch television, unless you had Foxtel of course! He gave me Dexter, the series about a ‘good' killer now streaming on Paramount Plus with its follow up season, and I gave him UnReal; the series that gives you a behind the scenes look at what happens on shows like ‘The Bachelor'. To say that these shows are addictive is an understatement, but who's was better? Tune in to find out now! 

Dad and I could not have picked two more different shows to watch this week. With him asking me to watch ‘The Witcher' a fantasy series now streaming on Netflix and me asking him to watch documentary, ‘Cheer' about a Cheer team in Texas. With both of these shows creating their own hype with loyal fans and high streaming numbers- how you do you think we'll rate these series? With season 2 dropping recently for both shows, will we tune in? 

I feel like this might be one of dads favourite episodes because the movie I recommended for him, ‘Don't Look Up' now streaming on Netflix and the tv series now streaming on Amazon Prime ‘The Expanse' that he asked me to watch both had a sci-fi feel to them. The all star cast that feature in ‘Don't Look Up' reeled us in, but did we get the message? Tune in now to find out for yourself 

It's the second episode of 2022, and dad and I chose very different shows for each other this week! I think I introduced him to a new fave when I asked him to watch ‘Wheel of Time' now streaming on Amazon Prime. Based on a book series, this is just the beginning! Tune in to hear if we will be keeping an eye out for season 2. Dads pick for me was a Netflix crime solving series, also based on a book, ‘Stay Close' featuring his fave actor James Nesbitt ( yes, he is featuring for the 2nd time on the pod!) It's a new year- which means dad and I have got some exciting shows and movies to catch up on! This week dad asked me to watch Marvel's Hawkeye now streaming on Disney+ and I asked him to watch Hacks on Stan. Two very different shows, but each show the importance of friendship and how it can change your life. Tune in to hear what we had to say and from dad and me- Happy New Year! 

Dad and I were in the Christmas spirit when we chose our movies for each other this week! I gave him the family friendly and funny Noelle- now streaming on Disney+ and he gave me an all time favourite; It's a Wonderful Life! Its dads birthday and this week I told him he could make me watch absolutely anything. Which means that it was sports related! Surprise, surprise.. it was a show called Fever Pitch, a behind the scenes look at the English Premier League and how it started in 1992. Tune in to hear if I made dads wish come true by becoming a fan of football 

When dad asked me to The Protege on Amazon I honestly didn't know what movie I was looking good for or what I was about to  watch. Fortunately for him- he didn't have the same problem when he watched Free Guy now streaming on Disney. With a deep message, strong characters and great graphics Free Guy is a go from us! 

This week I gave dad a tv show ‘Mythic Quest' that I thought incorporated 2 of the things we love- comedy and fantasy. With a behind the scenes look at what it takes to design a game and the dramas that take place in an everyday office this show ( which is currently streaming on Apple TV will have you giggling in no time! If you are a Marvel fan then you may have already seen Shang Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings now streaming on Disney, but this week it was my turn! Tune in to hear our thoughts and dads bell as it goes off ☺️

We've been talking about Red Notice on Netflix for the last 3 weeks and finally I got the chance to watch it, whilst I asked dad to watch Knives Out (also streaming on Netflix) a movie released 2 years with an all star cast that will have you asking ‘whodunnit?' Tune in to hear how we both felt about these movie! 

Fleabag left a lasting impression on dad this week, which led him to ask me some interesting and terrifying questions.. tune in to find out what they were and if the answers were what he was expecting! When I finally found Lucky Man on Stan ( dad told me it was on Netflix) I realised that I can't escape the warning signs my gut gives me when watching crime solving shows like this one! 

‘You' has just been renewed for a fourth season on Netflix- tune in to hear if dad was hooked or horrified after watching this best selling book turned tv series! I was asked to watch ‘Departure' now streaming on SBS on Demand which sees the first series takes us on a behind the scenes look at what happens during the investigation to find a missing plane. Clearly, not a trip I'd like to take- but will I recommend the series? 

It's Lauren's birthday! To celebrate, George watched one of Lauren's favourite shows New Girl, now streaming on Amazon Prime and Netflix whilst his wife recommended The Bite now streaming on Paramount+ for Lauren. Not sure if this is allowed, but birthdays only happen once a year so we'll let this one slide! Tune in to hear what George had to say about New Girl- personally I think he was holding back! With Squid Game being named the most watched show on Netflix, there was no way we could not watch it! Knowing that dad loves some Korean shows I thought this would be a walk in the park. Tune in to hear his thoughts as we talk about another Korean show called Vincenzo. 

Join dad and I this week as we talk about Nine Perfect Strangers now streaming on Binge and Shadow and Bone on Netflix. We discuss whether both shows will have a season 2 and why I'm not a sports person! 

This episode sees dad take on one of my favourite tv series that I knew he would never have seen or even thought of to watch! It encourages us to ‘get real' and honest about our relationship and I really didn't want to cut any of this episode; it might be the longest one we ever do! I watched Goliath, and it does get a mention but we did spend a lot of time talking about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.. hope you enjoy! 

Join dad and I as we discuss 2 shows that caught our attention this week ( for very different reasons) the White Lotus, a satire about a hotel in Hawaii streaming on Binge and The Sinner, a dramatic insight into a Detective that is trying to solve a case streaming on Netflix; Both fascinating shows in their own right! To say these shows could not be further from each other is an understatement, but they do hold a common thread. That love can and will conquer all!
