We return to the galaxy far, far away with The Mandalorian & Grogu hitting theaters… but tonight we're hanging out LIVE for one final spoiler-free discussion before the big day! Tonight on The Sarlacc Digest: ⭐ Final predictions for The Mandalorian & Grogu ⭐ Mandoverse theories and future setup speculation ⭐ Trailer & TV spot breakdown discussion ⭐ What could this movie mean for the future of Star Wars? ⭐ Reviews are in — spoiler-free expectation talk only ⭐ Star Wars rumors, news, and theories from across the galaxy ⭐ LIVE chat discussions and Mandalorian trivia throughout the stream! IMPORTANT:
It's not exactly an Arthouse Tuesday, but it is a Tuesday here at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we've got for you on our latest episode: THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU (NO Spoilers!). We had a lot of fun with this standalone "Mandalorian" movie, a big-screen version of the Disney+ series. (We recapped all three seasons, in case you'd like to revisit the show with us at our Patreon; these videos are also available for individual purchase for our free members, as is the whole collection.) Pedro Pascal returns as the stoic bounty hunter, alongside his gifted, green sidekick, Grogu. They go on adventures across the galaxy. Summer is here! In theaters Friday. OBSESSION. So many of you asked us to review this, so of course we had to do just that, even though Alonso is admittedly a chicken about horror movies. We both dug this one though, from YouTuber-turned-filmmaker Curry Barker. A meek guy (Michael Johnston) is too afraid to tell the girl of his dreams (a tremendous Inde Navarrette) that he's interested in her, so he buys a novelty item and makes a wish for her to fall in love with him instead. Things do not go as planned. In theaters now. Mark your calendars for Noon Pacific on Friday, May 22, when we'll be back with Movie News LIVE! at our YouTube channel. And join us again at Noon Pacific on Tuesday, May 26, when we'll do a LIVE spoiler chat about "The Mandalorian and Grogu." See you then! IN THE GREY, Guy Ritchie's brand-new spy-action movie, just dropped—and Dan and Tom from SpyMovieNavigator are breaking it all down with zero spoilers. A covert team of elite extraction specialists is sent on a high-stakes mission to recover a stolen billion-dollar fortune from a ruthless tyrant. The question the hosts tackle first: is this actually a spy movie? And then they get to: Is it any good? The cast is stacked. Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill headline as operatives Bronco and Sid, joined by Eiza González, Rosamund Pike, Carlos Bardem, Fisher Stevens, and Jason Wong. Ed Wild handled cinematography, reuniting much of the team behind The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Dan and Tom walk through storytelling, pacing, action choreography, casting performances, and set design. They weigh the strengths against the weak spots—and there are a few of both. Ritchie claims the movie is based on a true story, which adds an intriguing layer to the mission's premise. If you love spy cinema—from Bond to Mission: Impossible—this no-spoilers first look gives you everything you need before you hit the theater. FIVE THINGS TO KNOW · Directed by Guy Ritchie — the creative force behind Operation Fortune, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. · Claimed to be based on a true story — Ritchie says the extraction mission depicted in the movie is rooted in real events. · A tight 97-minute runtime — the movie moves fast, using narration and on-screen graphics to pack the story into under two hours. · Carlos Bardem steals scenes as villain Manny Salazar — brother of Javier Bardem (Skyfall's Silva), he delivers a standout performance. · Not connected to The Gray Man series — despite the similar title, IN THE GREY (with an "E") is a completely separate movie and franchise. Tell us what you think: Is IN THE GREY a movie you'll go see? What do you think of our No Spoiler First Look. If you've seen the movie, did we get it right? Let us know your thoughts, ideas for future episodes, and what you think of this episode. Just drop us a note at info@spymovienavigator.com. The more we hear from you, the better the show will surely be! We'll give you a shout-out in a future episode! The author of Theo of Golden sits down with Russell in Andrew Peterson's Chapter House for a conversation on the breakout novel. NO SPOILERS! Watch the video of this episode on YouTube here. Russell is joined by Allen Levi, the author of the breakout novel Theo of Golden, to ask why so many readers are hungry for a story about kindness—and whether such a person could exist outside the pages of fiction. Russell and Allen sit together in Nashville for a conversation based on questions RDM collected from listeners and friends. Without any spoilers, Levi describes Theo of Golden as a book not only about kindness, but about the reason for kindness—an ordinary holiness rooted in the reality of Heaven. Levi's clear-eyed theology of “glory and grime” found in Golden insists that darkness is real, but it doesn't get the last word. To close, Russell offers for Allen to share a rare on-air prayer for listeners who are exhausted by suspicion and artificiality. If you're struggling to see how kindness is worth the cost, or if you're weary from cynicism, this episode is for you. No Spoilers: 0:00-23:45 Spoilers: 23:45-END This week, we're taking a more critical look at Psycho Killer, a thriller that aims to burrow deep into the mind of a murderer but may not dig quite far enough. While the film leans heavily on grim atmosphere and bursts of violence, we debate whether it offers meaningful psychological insight or simply repackages familiar serial-killer tropes. From uneven pacing to performances that strain under a thin script, we unpack where the tension works — and where it feels manufactured. Dark and confrontational by design, Psycho Killer wants to disturb you… the question is whether it earns it. The Pop Mythologist and his guest, author and psychology professor Alex Langley, revisit RoboCop (1987) as a political, mythical, and psychological parable about how capitalism privatizes everything, offers false solutions to the very problems it creates, dehumanizes human beings, and lays the groundwork for fascism. In hour two, recapping our New Year's festivities last night. Stranger Things series finale (NO SPOILERS). Zach Gelb credits Mario Cristobal for bringing back The U.
We've got a little stocking stuffer for you here at Breakfast All Day. Lots of big movies coming out over the next couple of weeks, including "Avatar: Fire and Ash," which we reviewed on Tuesday. As for the weekend's other new releases, here's what we have for you: THE HOUSEMAID. Deliciously twisty trash starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, who definitely knew the assignment. Because this is a Paul Feig movie (based on a best-selling novel), the clothes and interiors are to die for. This is a non-spoiler review, because you deserve to enjoy all the wild surprises in store for you. In theaters. IS THIS THING ON? The third film from director Bradley Cooper is in a lower, more intimate key that we both really enjoyed. Will Arnett stars as a husband and father of two who works through his divorce by turning to stand-up comedy. Inspired by the true story of British comic John Bishop. In theaters. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Our last one of the year, and there was so much to talk about: Rob Reiner, Oscar shortlists, the Academy Awards moving to YouTube in 2029, trailers for "Disclosure Day," "Digger" and the "Melania" documentary, and more. We look forward to resuming these with you in 2026. We'll have one more episode for 2025 on Tuesday, with reviews of "Marty Supreme," "Anaconda" and "No Other Choice." Thanks for being here with us during this busy time of year! Subscribe to Christy's Saturday Matinee newsletter: https://christylemire.beehiiv.com/
