Today, we're joined by 5 x logie winner and one of Australia's most beloved actresses, Asher Keddie. Asher is usually more reserved when it comes to her private life but it was really refreshing to hear her say that she is feeling more and more comfortable actually speaking about herself and what her motivations and ambitions are, rather than just about the characters she plays. Asher has a reputation of playing complex and layered, strong female characters in shows like ‘Offspring’, ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ and she’s now back as Evelyn Jones in Season 2 of ‘Strife’, a series inspired by Mia Freedman's memoir Work, Strife, Balance. The show delves into the life of a modern woman juggling the demands of career, motherhood, and personal identity in the digital age. We’ve had quite a lot of conversations on the podcast about the expectations of us to ‘do it all’ and make it look easy and we wanted to speak with Asher today about motherhood and the complexities of juggling her career alongside family life. We spoke about: The ‘actual’ story of how Asher got into acting (and it’s not the narrative that’s circulated) Why Asher chose to stay acting in Australia rather than going to Hollywood or NY The ‘care less’ factor you gain as you get a bit older and feel more confident What drew Asher to Strife Dealing with rejection Whether the ‘expiration date’ of women is shifting Mum guilt and making work decisions with family in mind The evolution in her relationship in the last 14 years Season two of STRIFE is out now on Binge and it’s brilliant! Katie Robbins and Sarah Sutherland are the showrunners of Hulu's highly anticipated limited series, GOOD AMERICAN FAMILY, starring Ellen Pompeo and Mark Duplass. The series follows a Midwestern couple who adopts what they believe is a little girl with dwarfism as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, falling into a battle fought in the tabloids, the courtroom, and ultimately their marriage. Robbins' previous credits include the AppleTV+ drama series SUNNY, the award-winning Showtime drama series THE AFFAIR, and Amazon's THE LAST TYCOON. Sarah Sutherland was previously a co-executive producer on NINE PERFECT STRANGERS for Hulu and a Supervising Producer on SUNNY for Apple TV+, starring Rashida Jones. You can listen to my previous interview with Katie where we talk about her series SUNNY, right here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep567-katie-robbins-showrunner-the-affair-the-last/id1292130289?i=1000669592206 In this interview, we talk about the creation of the show GOOD AMERICAN FAMILY, including the concept, research, and narrative perspective, the casting process — particularly the casting of the role of Natalia, advice for aspiring writers, and much more. Good American has partnered with an American Legend, Dolly Parton. Get yourself some bedazzled blue jeans approved by Dolly herself. Another iconic American collab is out this week with Crumbl and the Kardashians. Kim, Khloe, Kylie, Kourtney, Kendall and Kylie all have their own dessert at the cookie empire and they all look delicious. The White Lotus wrapped up its 3rd season last night and I have mixed feelings about what happened. It was obviously very good but also why did it have to be that character?? Dua Lipa has extended her tour into Latin America. Jessica Simpson has been drinking some questionable tea for her voice. And Jake Shane has been cast in the newest season of Hacks. Some sad news, the actor Val Kilmer has passed away at the age of 65 due to pneumonia. He's had a history of health issues and has been taking it easy for the last while although he did come back to the Top Gun franchise a couple years ago. Is Bronwyn from RHOSLC a felon? Well I still don't know the answer to this but it looks like it could be a different Bronwyn Newport. Who would have thought? The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) has been very popular and is currently in the process of signing a huge contract to expand the sport. Kesha just announced that she will be going on tour this summer. Miley has given us two new songs and two new music videos that are apart of her upcoming album in May. An elderly man left the sweetest comment on her newest video and I share it in this episode. And lastly, Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 will be out next month with a whole new cast and Nicole Kidman is back to torture more guests. Except this time it is set in the Austrian Alps. Thanks for listening!

Hi everyone, welcome back to TV Reload! I truly appreciate you tuning in for today’s episode, featuring two powerhouse content creators at the top of their game in scripted drama—John Polson and Bruna Papandrea. They join me to discuss their latest project, The Last Anniversary. Bruna Papandrea is an acclaimed Australian film and television producer and the founder of Made Up Stories. Before that, she co-founded Pacific Standard with Reese Witherspoon. Her impressive resume speaks for itself, with hits like Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers etc. The list goes on. Plus the feature film, The Dry, and the sequel to that, Force of Nature. It’s an absolute honour to have her here to discuss this exciting new TV series, now streaming on Binge and Foxtel. Joining her is John Polson, the director of The Last Anniversary. I’ve been a huge fan of his work since the ’90s, ever since I saw him in The Sum of Us alongside Russell Crowe. Over the years, John has made a remarkable transition behind the camera, working out of New York and making a significant impact in film and television. He’s also the creative force behind Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, which has supported countless emerging filmmakers. In this episode: • Bruna shares her favourite Liane Moriarty book and the three key elements she looks for when choosing a story. • John explains how directing a TV series differs from filmmaking and what unique challenges come with signing onto a project like this. • We uncover some fascinating behind-the-scenes details—Did Liane Moriarty want a role in the series? Has Bruna ever considered acting herself? • Plus, we’ll discuss the stellar cast, including Miranda Richardson, why this series has a broader appeal than some of Bruna’s past projects, and an update on Big Little Lies Season 3 (which Liane just finished writing this week!). There’s so much to dive into, with plenty of exclusive insights. So sit back, relax, and enjoy as we explore the incredible world of The Last Anniversary, streaming weekly on Binge and Foxtel!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Tiffany Boone's breakout role was Jerrika Little on the series “The Chi.” “Little Fires Everywhere,” “The Midnight Sky,” “Nine Perfect Strangers” and “Hunters” followed. Now she voices Sarabi in Disney's “Mufasa: The Lion King.” She explains how getting back to her childlike imagination was a must for that role. She tells the story of trying to break up with acting but acting wouldn't break up with her. She talks about the importance of knowing the character better than anyone else, how focusing on connecting with people through her art allowed her to “let go of the desperation,” and much more. Author of Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers and Apples Never Fall is back with her latest novel, Here One Moment.
The Australian author Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Nine Perfect Strangers) is known for writing bestselling novels that tackle big questions. Her new book, “Here One Moment,” looks at fate and whether it's something we can change or even avoid. Liane talks to Tom about the cancer scare that shaped her own thoughts on fate, how her dad gave her $1.00 to write her first novel, and how she blocks out the pressure that comes with success.
What would you do if you knew the day, hour, minute and method of your death? How would it change the way you spent today? Tomorrow? Because that time, that moment - exists for all of us. Today Osher speaks with Lianne Moriarty, one of the most successful authors in the world, certainly most successful to ever come out of Australia. She wrote Big Little Lies, Truly Madly Guilty, Nine Perfect Strangers and many, many more. Her latest book “Here One Moment” dives into what the knowledge of your own death would do for your life, and even how you approach free will. Subscribe to Mamamia Asher Keddie has been one of Australia's most acclaimed and beloved actors for decades. From Love My Way to Offspring, Paper Giants, Nine Perfect Strangers, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, she has won awards and hearts in equal measure. She is now starring in the dramedy Strife, about an imperfect woman who leaves a high profile job as a glossy magazine editor to start a women's website and try to grow a media company. So what happened when Mia finally lured Asher into the No Filter studio after seven years of asking? A very, very candid conversation about friendship, fame and how Asher Keddie feels so different in her 40s than she has at any other time in her life.
