Head coach of the Windsor Spitfires from 2015-17 and 2017 Memorial Cup Champion, Rocky Thompson, joins Drake on the phone (05:15) from San Jose as Rocky is now assistant coach of the Sharks with Bob Boughner. The pair talk pretty extensively about Rocky's coaching career in the WHL, OHL, AHL, and NHL. Rocky reveals his past as a wrestler and boxer, and mainly talks about his passion for the game that lead him to where he is today, and keeps him going.
Straight out of Essex is Ed Philion, now defensive coordinator for the Concordia University Stingers. Ed joins Drake on the phone (05:09) to chat about growing up in Windsor-Essex and is football career as a player and coach. Once a Essex 73's player, Ed turned to football in high school. Playing a year with the Fratmen after high school lead him to Ferris State where he was very successful with the team. From there it was off to the NFL with the Buffalo Bills, before settling in the CFL and winning a Grey Cup as both player and coach.
