We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, FIFA Club World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup, Canadian Premier League, and Canadian Championship chat and interviews. It was a tough Friday night under the lights for the Whitecaps, falling 3-0 to MLS basement team LA Galaxy. What went wrong and is there genuine cause for concern or is this just down to the weakened squad from international duty and injuries? We delve into all of that and chat with the returning winger Jayden Nelson about his Gold Cup experiences with Canada, forward Nelson Pierre about signing his first team deal, and young Canadian Antoine Coupland about his MLS minutes, his first MLS goal, and his hopes for the future. Toronto FC fans were given a Canada Day gift by MLSE when they announced the release of Italian Designated Players Lorzeno Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi. We chat about how much of a bust they were in the grand scheme of things and talk Whitecaps DPs. Who have been the best and the worst DPs to pull on a blue and white jersey in Vancouver? Plus there's still time to talk about the Gold Cup final, the FIFA Club World Cup, Vancouver FC's loss to Forge in CPL action, and hear from Valour FC head coach Philip Dos Santos about his side's big quarter-final second leg coming up against the Whitecaps. All of this, and music-wise, Frank Black continues his residency as our Album of the Month, we've Britpop songs from Supergrass and Cast, and we pay tribute to Diogo Jota in Wavelength. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode: 01.26: Intro 04.20: Whitecaps feel far, far away in Galaxy loss 49.05: Toronto FC and a tale of DP disasters 60.35: Whitecaps best and worst DP signings 93.10: Jayden Nelson reflects on Canada's Gold Cup 99.17: Nelson Pierre interview 106.34: Antoine Couple interview 118.10: Jesper Sorensen talks Couple and Pierre 128.25: RIP Diogo Jota 131.55: Whitecaps miss out on Gold Cup glory with US 136.43: FIFA Club World Cup chat 150.40: Canadian Premier League chat 157.25: Phil Dos Santos looks ahead to Whitecaps vs Valour 172.37: Wavelength - Jamie Webster - The Diogo Jota song

Vodafone Ireland, the leading communications partner to Irish consumers and businesses, has once again been recognised as the nation's leading mobile network, securing the prestigious "Best in Test" accolade from independent benchmarking organisation umlaut, for the tenth year in a row. This milestone achievement comes as Vodafone Ireland continues to roll out its €500 million five-year investment programme to enhance network performance across the country. The investment is delivering improved call and text reliability, superfast 4G and 5G services, and expanded high-definition voice coverage for customers and businesses nationwide. In addition to being named "Best in Test" for the tenth consecutive year, the company was also recognised as the most reliable mobile network for Voice, Data and consistent user experience - reinforcing its commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality connectivity across the country. Vodafone Ireland which has over 2.3 million customers and growing, employs over 2,000 people in Ireland across its Dublin HQ and 80 retail units across the country. In this year's benchmark, Vodafone achieved a record-breaking score of 927 out of 1000 - the highest ever awarded for mobile performance in Ireland. Vodafone also ranked number one nationwide and received top honours in the "Best in Reliability" category for both voice and data. Recently appointed CEO of Vodafone Ireland, Sabrina Casalta said that this accolade is recognition of the outstanding service and care that our valued Irish customers receive. "Connectivity is at the heart of what we do. We deliver a reliable network that connects people and businesses every day, facilitating business, work and e-commerce. We are always on and our focus remains on continuing to deliver the best network, connections, and exceptional, industry-leading care to our customers. "We're proud to provide a reliable network that helps people stay connected and supports businesses in their day-to-day operations. And we're committed to continuing our investment in Ireland's digital future." In 2024, Vodafone Ireland completed the nationwide switch-off of its 3G network, a strategic move that has enabled the reallocation of spectrum and resources to strengthen its 4G and 5G services. This transition has allowed Vodafone to accelerate investment in next-generation infrastructure, resulting in faster speeds, improved reliability, and broader high-definition voice coverage for customers across the country. As a trusted business provider, Vodafone Ireland supports six in 10 Irish businesses - delivering secure, scalable business solutions that power connectivity and resilience. Our enterprise customers include some of Ireland's most recognised names such as Sherry Fitzgerald, Fexco and Cpl who rely on Vodafone for resilient business infrastructure and services. Brian Dooley, Chief Information Officer at Sherry FitzGerald - a Vodafone Ireland business customer and the country's largest property and financial services advisory firm - said: "Congratulations to Vodafone Ireland on being crowned Best Network by umlaut for an incredible 10th year in a row! "At Sherry FitzGerald, we rely on Vodafone's exceptional network coverage, unrivalled reliability, and the outstanding support of their account management team - to keep our business connected and running smoothly every day. Their high-performing service helps us deliver the same level of excellence to our own clients, right across the country. "This remarkable milestone reflects Vodafone's unwavering commitment to excellence, and we're proud to have them as a trusted partner on our journey. "Here's to a decade of excellence - and to the next chapter of innovation and success!" See more stories here.
We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, FIFA Club World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup, and Canadian national team chat and interviews, in what has very much been a week of highs and lows. It was an eventful week in Whitecapsland, both on and off the pitch. A defeat to a highly clinical San Diego side saw them lose first place in the MLS Western Conference, but they bounced back in style with an important win at their old nemesis LAFC. We delve into the main talking points coming out of both matches, look at what caught our eye with the latest salary releases, and talk about the 'Caps' All-Star selections. Our feature interview this episode is with the man that's guided the Whitecaps to their best ever start to a season, Danish head coach Jesper Sorensen. It's been a great start to the Sorensen era here in Vancouver, with a win percentage of almost 50%, battling for first place in MLS, and reaching the club's first continental cup final. We chat about all of that and settling into life in Vancouver in our extensive and exclusive interview. We also delve into Canada's shock defeat to Guatemala at the Gold Cup and what lessons need to be learned from it. Plus there's chat about the costs of Vancouver hosting next year's World Cup, the action at this year's FIFA Club World Cup, and the action packed BC derby in the CPL. Music-wise, a solo Pete Shelley wraps up his residency as our Album of the Month, while Frank Black begins his, we've a Britpop song from Dubstar, and we go back to 1975 in Wavelength. Doug Bahrns knew he wanted to be a U.S. Marine Corps officer when he finished high school a couple of years before 9/11. He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute and was commissioned as a Marine Corps officer. After going to officer's training at Quantico, Bahrns was assigned command of 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines in 2003. By 2004 they were in Iraq, and a few months later they would be involved in some of the fiercest fighting of the war - the Second Battle of Fallujah. In this edition of Veterans Chronicles, Bahrns discusses the ramping up to the battle, how he got orders to get his men ready for the fight in the middle of the night, and what he went over in his mind just before the battle began.Bahrns describes the successful push to the mayor's complex, the vicious fighting to move out from there, and the brutal house-to-house fighting that followed. He explains the very effective method of clearing houses, how those gains stayed secured, and how his Marines escaped from a very precarious situation at a place they called "The Alamo."Finally, Bahrns details the devastating loss of Cpl. Bradley Faircloth in late November 2004 and how Faircloth's death still weighs on him today.

We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, Canadian Premier League, Northern Super League, and national team chat and interviews. What a week it's been in Whitecapsland. Eventful doesn't even do it justice, as the team returned from a heavy cup final loss only to be hit by gastrointestinal illness that left Sunday's derby game with Seattle Sounders in doubt. In the end it was played and despite everything the 'Caps came away with a stunning 3-0 win over their Cascadian rivals. We look back at the match, the build up, and the fallout. Turning our attention to the national teams, we look back at Canada's win over Ukraine in the Canadian Shield as they prepare for the Gold Cup, the Canadian women's U20s qualifying for the World Cup, and our feature interview is with the Vancouverite and Vancouver Rise player who scored her first goal for the senior team this week, Holly Ward. This document is a motion to suppress evidence filed by Bryan Kohberger's defense team regarding a search warrant executed on his AT&T mobile account. The defense argues that the warrant, obtained by law enforcement in December 2023, was unconstitutional and overbroad, violating Kohberger's rights under both the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article I, Section 17 of the Idaho Constitution. The warrant authorized law enforcement to obtain extensive data from Kohberger's AT&T account, including subscriber information, call and text records, cell site location data, GPS estimates, cloud storage content, and other highly invasive digital records — far beyond what was stated in the attached exhibit, which only referenced “historical” and “prospective” phone records for a two-day window. The defense claims the supporting affidavit submitted by Cpl. Brett Payne either recklessly or intentionally omitted material facts, failed to establish probable cause, and lacked proper particularization, which made the warrant facially deficient. They further argue that all information used to justify the warrant was derived from the allegedly unconstitutional use of Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG), contaminating the warrant and rendering all derived data inadmissible under the "fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine. Because of these issues, the motion asks the court to suppress all evidence obtained through this AT&T warrant, asserting that the warrant process failed both in legal standard and in execution, compromising Kohberger's constitutional protections.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:111424-Motion-Supress-Memorandum-Support-ATT-First-Warrant.pdfBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Major League Soccer, Canadian Premier League, and national team chat and interviews. Vancouver Whitecaps' trip to Mexico City was not a happy one. A heavy 5-0 loss to Cruz Azul in the Champions Cup final saw the 'Caps outclassed and look a shadow of the team that got them to that point. A tough one to take, but it shouldn't fully be allowed to cloud what was a fantastic and galvanising cup run and the season so far. The worry is that there could be some lasting psychological damage in the coming weeks and we hear from head coach Jesper Sorensen about lifting the team up after this and getting back to winning ways. We also look at Michael's experience in CDMX both at the match and in the city, plus the breaking news that the 'Caps didn't come home with a trophy, but they did come home with gastrointestinal illness. We look at what went down, what it means for the game against Seattle at the weekend, and hear from Whitecaps CEO Axel Schuster. We've also got four interviews to bring you this episode as we turn our attention to the international game. With Canada preparing for the Gold Cup later this month, we chat with the man who is, for us, the current number one goalkeeper for the national team, Minnesota United's Dayne St Clair and talk with head coach Jesse Marsch about the development pathway in Canada and the role of League1. Nine Whitecaps are off to represent their country this international window. We talk with one of them, Giuseppe Bovalina, who is off to play for Australia's U23 side, about his move to Vancouver, life in MLS, what he misses about back home, and playing with the Olyroos. Plus we chat with another antipodean, former Whitecap Michael Boxall, about New Zealand's qualification for the World Cup and his international career. All of this plus music-wise, a solo Pete Shelley begins his residency as our Album of the Month, we've a Britpop song from The Bluetones, and Armchair Loyal are back in Wavelength. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode: 01.36: Intro - a cursed episode, the end of the lucky hat, and Club World Cup ticket prices slashed 09.28: VFC derby chaos as CPL refs take centre stage again 25.12: Heartbreak and humiliation for Whitecaps in Champions Cup final loss to Cruz Azul 59.25: Michael's trip to Mexico City - the highlights and lowlights 87.25: Will heavy final defeat affect Whitecaps' psyche? 96.33: Whitecaps hit by gastrointestinal illness following return from Mexico 121.40: Dayne St Clair interview 139.27: Michael Boxall interview 153.30: Giuseppe Bovalina interview 164.30: Jesse Marsch talks Canada's development pathway and the role of League1 172.20: Wavelength - Armchair Loyal - Chairman of the Bored

Join Dan and Tom as they decode the 1943 movie, FIVE GRAVES TO CAIRO. Is this World War II movie a spy movie? Listen as Dan tries to convince Tom it is, despite Tom's uncertainty. The story with this menacing title follows the exploits of Cpl. John Bramble in June 1942 after he fell out of his tank in the North African desert. Later on, he ends up meeting Rommel, The Desert Fox, himself. Most of the movie takes place inside the hotel “Empress of Britain”. It is a great setting. Also, something is interesting there underneath the first floor. The people behind this movie are top-notch. Billy Wilder directed and co-wrote it with Charles Brackett, adopting Lajos Biró's play “Hotel Imperial”. It garnered three Academy Award nominations and has an excellent cast. Specifically, Anne Baxter, Franchot Tone, Akim Tamiroff, and Erich von Stroheim play the leads. This is a movie where you don't want to be scanning your phone at the same time as you watch it. You need to pay close attention. However, by listening to this episode, you will enhance your viewing experience. We give you some things to look out for. What we will decode in this episode While we don't give away the key answers for this movie, these are the things we decode in our look at FIVE GRAVES TO CAIRO: · Details on this great cast. · How it had a real-world impact on the war. · The humor in this serious movie. For example, we include a clip from the movie about bedbugs. · Without a doubt, there is a tie-in to Boris Karloff. What is it? · The production, cinematography, costuming, and the score. · What Tom thought Bramble needed to have with him on the tank. · The use of the German language. Authentic? · Opera in a World War II movie? · The dialogue - good, or bad? · Certainly, Rommel would not have said what he said at that lunch. Would he? · Answering Tom's question of if this is a spy movie · And more! What we don't answer is what the “five graves to Cairo” are. You need to watch the movie for that. Where to download the movie As of the time of the release of this episode (June 2025), you can stream this movie for free at: https://archive.org/details/five-graves-to-cairo-1943-billy-wilder. We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, Canadian Championship, Canadian Premier League, and general football chat. We delve into the main talking points coming away from a match that was an off day for many and unfortunately all in the same game. That schedule continues apace as the 'Caps kick off their quest for a Canadian Championship fourpeat in Winnipeg. We preview the Valour game and hear from their head coach Phillip Dos Santos. Plus we sit down for a chat with the man whose penalty in last year's Voyageurs Cup final clinched the vital victory that set up this year's historic Champions Cup run, Bjorn Inge Utvik. We chat with Bjorn about that spot kick, the tournament, the cup run, having a fellow Scandinavian as head coach, and life in Vancouver. Plus we round up all the week's action in MLS and the CPL, look at the FIFA Congress coming to Vancouver next year, and music-wise Scottish band Baby Chaos continue their residency as our Album of the Month, we've a Britpop classic from Pulp, and we celebrate Crystal Palace's historic and joy-inducing FA Cup win in Wavelength. We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, CONCACAF Champions Cup, and Canadian Premier League chat and interviews. The Whitecaps keep on rolling on two fronts in what is already proving to be a season of amazing highs and it's not even the end of April yet. First the 'Caps dominantly dispatched Lionel Messi and his star-studded Miami side on Thursday in their Champions Cup semi-final first leg and then they followed that up by heavily rotating their starting line-up and going and getting a result in their top of the table clash in Minnesota on Sunday. We look back at two huge victories, the unsavoury incident at the end of the Minnesota match with Emmanuel Sabbi, and look ahead to Wednesday's second leg of the semi in Florida. We've three interviews for you in this episode. First up is one of the men of the hour, the man who's now scored in back-to-back matches, Whitecaps midfielder Sebastian Berhalter. We chat with Seba about his goal and his experience in that Miami match, and the performances of the team so far this season. We also chat with 'Caps midfielder Ralph Priso about the Miami game, the team, and his move to Vancouver. We also have a great chat with MLS Apple TV host, and former Whitecaps and Canadian women's national team player, Kaylyn Kyle about the Whitecaps great start to the season, the win over Miami and what to expect in the second leg, her love for the club, and her excitement at the launch of the Northern Super League. Plus we round up all the weekend's action in the CPL, talk football superstitions, find out if Ralph Priso fancies a chocolate digestive, and music-wise Camille Schmidt rounds off her residency as our Album (and Artist) of the Month, we've two Britpop songs, and a fun Wavelength. We're back with another AFTN Soccer Show packed full of Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer, CONCACAF Champions Cup, Canadian Premier League, and Northern Super League chat. Another veritable footballing feast. Vancouver Whitecaps' huge month continues apace, but is it starting to catch up with them? We chat about Saturday's somewhat flat goalless draw in St Louis and look ahead to this week's Champions Cup semi-final with Inter Miami and the Messi circus it will bring with it. Plus we chat with Whitecaps midfielder J.C. Ngando about his and the team's excellent start to the year and defender Sam Adekugbe talks to us about his ownership stake in NSL side Calgary Wild and the importance of that league and the CPL to the continued growth of the game here in Canada. Zach regales us with tales of his trip to Calgary to see Vancouver FC take on Cavalry in CPL action, plus we look at another tumultuous week behind the scenes at VFC that saw four key staff members unceremoniously fired. We also chat about the inaugural match in the NSL that saw Vancouver Rise come away with their first ever win, we hear some postgame thoughts from Anja Heiner-Moller and Quinn, and we chat with NSL President Christina Litz about the relationship between the NSL and the CPL and how she'd like that to look moving forward. We also round up all the weekend's action in the MLS and CPL, and music-wise Camille Schmidt continues her residency as our Album (and Artist) of the Month, Oasis feature in our Britpop segment, and Cousin Feo is back in Wavelength. Because of these issues, the motion asks the court to suppress all evidence obtained through this AT&T warrant, asserting that the warrant process failed both in legal standard and in execution, compromising Kohberger's constitutional protections.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:111424-Motion-Supress-Memorandum-Support-ATT-First-Warrant.pdf
