Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 174, Season 3 of Red Wings Rant: Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home. Today we preview the Detroit Red Wings 2021-22 home opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Saturday matchup with the Vancouver Canucks. The Detroit Red Wings have also solidified their forward lines, defensive pairs, and power plays and we'll take a quick look to see where Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, and the rest of the Red Wings Roster will be lining up. The Tampa Bay Lightning will be making their way to Detroit and Little Caesars Arena for their second game of the season. They are currently 0-1-0 after losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-2. With the Penguins currently playing with stars Sydney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the final score was especially surprising, for the back-to-back defending Stanley Cup Champions, Lightning. The Lightning may be looking to redeem themselves after being embarrassed at home during their banner raising, but we'll also ask the question if the Lightning could be running out of gas. The Red Wings' second game of the season, against the Vancouver Canucks, will feature Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Thatcher Demko. The Canucks struggled last season, finishing 7th place in the North with a .446 points percentage (for comparison sake, the Red Wings had .429 points percentage). The Canucks will be playing their second game in two nights and their 3rd in 4 nights. With Pettersson and Hughes having only played 2 preseason games, will the loaded front of the schedule affect their play, and can the Wings take advantage? Episode sponsored by Draft Kings. Locked On Lightning - Daily Podcast On The Tampa Bay Lightning

It was a night of celebration....and then the game started. The two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions did not get off to the way they would have liked after raising a championship banner for the second straight year. The Pittsburgh Penguins came in undermanned and the underdogs. The Lighting would drop Opening Night 6-2, but have a chance to redeem themselves Thursday night in Detroit. Host Adam Denker is back to discuss the loss and takes a long hard look at the box score. Remember it's a marathon, not a sprint! He's just one of the billionaires in ProPublica's investigation on how teams are handled, when it comes to owners' tax liability. Investigative reporter Robert Faturechi of ProPublica walks us through the tax code as it relates to franchise executives, and how they may wind up paying lower taxes by percentage than not only the players for whom they write their checks, but the workers at their arenas as well. Then Greg Wyshynski tells us how back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions the Tampa Bay Lightning are celebrating fresh off the ice, literally, with a limited-edition beer.
