By Dan Preston - The 70 weeks prophecy is sometimes misunderstood because it is thought to have been and consequently goes unstudied. What is this particular prophecy actually about, and does it still matter today?

In this episode of Prove All Things, Jeff Reed and Mike James walk through Daniel's 70 Weeks Prophecy and why many see it as one of the strongest evidences for fulfilled biblical prophecy. They explain why the “weeks” are understood as weeks of years and how the timeline begins with the decree to restore Jerusalem under Artaxerxes. Following the 490-year framework, they connect key milestones to the Messiah's appearing and the “cutting off” of the Anointed One. Along the way, they emphasize humility in prophecy, the reliability of God's promises, and the hope of Christ's future return.
Many prophecies throughout history have lacked a certain specificity. They are vague enough that any number of circumstances might appear to fulfill their predictions. But in Daniel 9, the angel Gabriel offers a prophecy regarding the exact year the Messiah would die - nearly five centuries before the crucifixion! In today's message, pastor Dan examines Daniel's vision of the "70 weeks" and why it offers some of the strongest evidence that Jesus truly is the Christ. -- GIVE: Visit www.connectcalgary.ca/give to help share #LifeOverflowing across Canada.
Daniel 9 presents Daniel's prayer of confession for Israel's sins and his plea for restoration. In response, Gabriel reveals the prophecy of the “seventy weeks,” outlining God's timetable for Israel's future: the coming of the Messiah, the rebuilding of Jerusalem, the Messiah being “cut off,” the destruction of the city, and events leading to the final culmination of God's plan.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/lets-talk-scripture/donations
The prophet Daniel, living in exile under Persian rule, studied Jeremiah's prophecy about Israel's 70-year captivity and was moved to pray for his people's restoration. His powerful prayer wasn't based on his own righteousness but on God's mercy, as he confessed the collective sins that led to exile: neglecting God's commands, treating people brutally, and worshipping false gods. God responded through the angel Gabriel with the Seventy Weeks prophecy, promising to finish transgression, end sin, atone for iniquity, bring everlasting righteousness, seal vision and prophet, and anoint a most holy place. These promises point directly to Christ's redemptive work. For us today, this teaches that we need hope and redemption rather than just pain relief, that true confession brings healing, and that God's perfect character gives us confidence in His timing.https://www.ankenyfree.church
Apocalyptic literature like Daniel and Revelation uses symbolic language, visions, and numbers to communicate God's sovereignty over history. Rather than getting lost in identifying every symbol, we should focus on the main message: God is in control, Jesus is returning, and believers are called to faithful perseverance. Christians hold different views about end times events, but the essentials remain the same - Christ's bodily return and our need to live faithfully while we wait. The 70 weeks prophecy in Daniel demonstrates remarkable prophetic precision while maintaining interpretive complexity that keeps us dependent on God rather than our own understanding.https://www.ankenyfree.church

Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 54 Gary continues going through Daniel 9 and the 70 weeks prophecy. He connects the events of Daniel 9:24-27 to the rest of the Bible and proves that a gap is not necessary, but a reassessment of the timing of certain events might be. Assuming these events are still in our future has created all sorts of strange interpretations in history.
Bible Prophecy Under the Microscope-Episode 53 So much of modern eschatology, especially Dispensationalism, rely on four verses (24–27) in Daniel 9 to make their system hold together. This is suspect enough, but then to make it work chronologically, they need to insert huge gaps of years. Daniel's timebound prophecy that uses "weeks of years" to indicate when the time would be near is made useless by adding a gap of thousands of years.

In this sermon, Pastor Chris Romig addresses the urgency of our times by exploring biblical prophecy, focusing on Daniel chapter 9. He traces how Daniel's “seventy sevens” prophecy was accurately fulfilled up to the coming of Jesus, but emphasizes that the final seven years remain as a future event, commonly identified as the Great Tribulation. Pastor Chris highlights that while some believe this prophecy was fulfilled in ancient times, both the biblical timeline and Jesus' teaching suggest otherwise—a future period involving Israel, a rebuilt temple, and a deceptive world leader is still to come. He connects these ancient prophecies to current events in the Middle East, reassuring listeners that God is in control. The message ends with an invitation to faith, reminding believers that those who trust in Christ can rest in God's promises and need not fear the future, because they are secure in the hands of a loving Father.
In Daniel nine we read of the 70 weeks of Daniel. Each week is a seven- year period, and 69 have already happened. That leaves one seven-year period remaining. And today pastor James Kaddis examines it carefully. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1459/29
