Ani Sanyal is known for being a serial entrepreneur but at his core he is the definition of a serial entrepreneur. After being born to Indian immigrant parents who were struggling at the time, he was determined to change his family's fortune and start the process of creating generational wealth. He created his own independent record label as a teenager in high school, toured the world with his artists, he also provided Wiz Khalifa with his first opportunity to perform in NYC. With so much success at the age of 24, Ani was at the top of the world. Things shifted when he was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure. In episode 301, we sat with Ani to discuss how he pivoted from music to marketing when he created Green Room Creative, which is a Digital Marketing Agency, what entrepreneurs should be doing to grow their brands organically, how he built one of the hottest tea shop/eateries in New York City, and more. "How should artists be thinking of funding when starting out?" "What can artists do to build and engage their community?" "Should artists have a full understanding of the music business?" --- Ani Sanyal, aka Ani Hustles, was our guest on the unsigned podcast this week and man, what an inspiring story! I'll save the stories for the episode but he's a brief bio: first-generation American, a former rapper who toured with Wiz Khalifa and went toe to toe with G-Eazy in a Kanye/50 Cent style album release, turned creative entrepreneur/manager, and now investor into cafes and real estate. Safe to say, Ani FUCKING hustles! Can't thank him enough for his time and for sharing his take on all the above questions. Hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did! Hey Guys, I had entrepreneur and real estate investor Ani Sanyal on the show to talk about his father giving him a kidney, starting a independent label at 16, building a 7 figure marketing agency and real estate investment portfolio, opening a restaurant, and more. I am beyond inspired by his story. Enjoy! Follow me on Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/traythegreat_/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/IAMTRAYTHEGREAT
COVID 19 has hit us like a ton of bricks, but I’m grateful we have men and women on the front lines as nurses, doctors, grocery store clerks, and essential workers to save lives and keep us fed. So big shout out to those men and women. I wanted to bring someone on to speak directly to our entrepreneurs and creatives, so I tapped my guy Ani Sanyal. Ani runs multiple businesses as you will hear in the audio, but the one most impacted is the closest to his heart, his restaurant Kolkota Chai co. We talk about how he was able to quickly pivot during this pandemic, and the lessons he’s learned because of that. Here’s a snapshot: Chaos is a ladder - Instead of doing business as normal, the pandemic forced him to make moves that weren’t planned to launch for months, or even at all. The moment became a catalyst for new services and products that wouldn’t have come otherwise. Premortems are key - Don’t dwell on bad times, but we should be better prepared for them. Create a plan for when things won’t go well, because in 2020 the likelihood of that happening is high. Adapt the new normal - Things will never be the same again. So, it goes without saying but don’t abandon the lessons you learn at this moment. It’s ok to not be productive - Breathe. Chill. Watch Netflix. But don’t stay down too long. We also discussed how to make money while keeping yourself culturally authentic in the process. We dropped a few gems on the power of starting small. We also stress the importance of running marathons and not sprints. If you loved what you heard be sure to hit Ani up on the gram and show some love (@anihustles). Peace & stay safe!
Ani Sanyal is known for being a marketing genius but at his core he is the definition of a serial entrepreneur. After watching his Indian immigrant parents struggle as workers, he was determined to be on the other side of the table to provide financial freedom for himself and his family. He founded his own independent record label in high school and toured the world, he also provided Wiz Khalifa with his first opportunity to perform in NYC. In his mid-twenties, he pivoted from music to marketing when he created Green Room Creative (GRC), which is a Digital Marketing Agency that helps brands build stories online. His company has worked with HBO, Juice Press, The Daily Beast, Patch and Hilary Clinton. In addition to being a superstar in the marketing world, Ani is also the founder of Kolkata Chai Co. which is one of the hottest tea shop/eateries in New York City. It’s named after the city his family grew up in in India. Ani is also a real estate investor with developments in New Jersey and Philadelphia. He focuses on acquiring distressed, underperforming and non-performing residential and mixed-used assets. In episode 69, we covered all of the above for one of our most broad ranging conversations to date. We discussed the new age of marketing and what entrepreneurs should be doing to grow their brands organically. We also discussed India’s massive economy, hip-hops reach and effect there and where outside investors can find opportunities to profit on the subcontinent which is home to 1.3 billion people. #Realestate #investing Guest IG: @anihustles EYL Website: https://www.earnyourleisure.com/ Brand Resumes: https://brandresumes.com/eyl/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app · Trainual: Trainual is a software that helps you document what you do, so you can easily delegate and train others. https://trainual.com/freemonth/ Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/earnyourleisure/support

On today’s show, we sit down with Ani Sanyal, a mission-driven entrepreneur, real estate investor, and marketing specialist based in New York City. I first discovered Ani’s story after hearing about Kolkata Chai Company, a cafe that he opened with his brother Ayan just a few months ago. Already attracting attention from the likes of Questlove, Hassan Minhaj, Mindy Kaling, Alexis Ohanian (Reddit CEO), and plenty of others, KCC’s masala chai has become a platform for the Sanyal brothers to share their South Asian culture with the world. Ani also manages an extremely talented hip-hop artist named Anik Khan - who has been making waves in the hip hop community for his ability to sonically fuse his Bengali roots with his Queens upbringing. As you’ll notice throughout the interview, Ani embraces the hustle that many immigrant and first-generation kids endure while working to provide for those came before for them. I hope you enjoy this episode of Culture Study.
