Because He Lives by Word Mission Church International
This sermon explores the concept of spiritual warfare through the lens of worship. Pastor Jason discusses how worship is actually a form of warfare against Satan. Using biblical passages from Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14, he explains that Satan was originally a worship leader in heaven who fell due to pride and his desire to be worshipped rather than to worship God. The sermon emphasizes that there is an ongoing war for our worship, with Satan trying to redirect our allegiance away from God toward idols and worldly things. Pastor Jason illustrates this through the story of Job and Gloria Gaither's experience writing ‘Because He Lives' during a time of cultural upheaval and personal fear. The central message is that worship is not just singing songs, but declaring our allegiance to God and pushing back against spiritual darkness.
Through God's Word written down in the Bible, through God's Word combined with water in baptism, through God's Word combined with bread & wine in Communion… God's Holy Spirit changes our spiritual vision and helps us to see things that we couldn't see before. This Easter sermon explores Jesus' declaration "I am the resurrection and the life" through the account of Lazarus's death and resurrection in John 11. The message emphasizes that Jesus is not merely one who provides resurrection as a future event—He Himself is the resurrection, the source and substance of eternal life. The sermon addresses how Jesus meets us in our sorrow and grief, demonstrating that He is bigger and better than we often think. Through the lens of Lazarus's story, we see that Jesus delayed His arrival intentionally so that God's glory would be fully revealed and people would believe in His deity. The message concludes with the truth that resurrection power is available now through union with Christ, transforming our lives today while securing our hope for bodily resurrection in the future. Christians have hope not just for resurrected bodies, but for a resurrected world—a new heavens and new earth cleansed from all evil and suffering. Main Points: - Jesus meets us in the sorrow of sin and death - He is not distant but draws near to comfort us in our grief and suffering. - Jesus is the resurrection and the life - Eternal life is not just an event or a place; it's found in the person of Jesus Christ. - Jesus is our hope for eternal life - Christians have hope for both a bodily resurrection and a transformed world, and this new life begins today. Scripture Referenced: John 11:1-44 (main passage); Romans 5:12; Romans 6:23; 1 Corinthians 15:54-58; 2 Corinthians 4:16-17; 2 Corinthians 5:1-4; Galatians 2:20; John 17:3; John 10:10; John 3:1-8; Revelation 3:20 Community Group Guide: Begin with Prayer Begin by thanking God for bringing your group together and asking the Holy Spirit to guide your discussion and reveal how He wants to work through each person present. Discussion Questions 1) Read John 11:1-44 together. What stands out to you from this passage? 2) Martha confronted Jesus saying, 'if you had been here, my brother would not have died.' When have you questioned God's timing or presence during a difficult season, and how did that wrestling shape your faith? 3) Jesus wept at Lazarus's tomb even though He knew He was about to raise him from the dead. What does this reveal about how God relates to our suffering, and how should this impact the way we comfort others? 4) The sermon emphasizes that Jesus doesn't just give eternal life as a gift separate from Himself, but that He IS eternal life. How does this change your understanding of what it means to have a relationship with Christ? 5) The sermon ends with the question 'Do you believe this?' about Jesus being the resurrection and the life. What would it look like for you to move from intellectual acknowledgment to truly banking your entire life on the truth of the resurrection? Personal Reflection and Practical Application Choose one or more of the following to put into practice: 1) Bring Your Grief to Jesus: If you're experiencing loss, pain, or disappointment, spend time honestly bringing your questions and emotions to God in prayer. He can handle your wrestling. 2) Expand Your View of Jesus: Identify one area where you've been thinking too small about Jesus. Write down specific attributes of Christ that counter your limited view and meditate on them daily. 3) Live in Resurrection Power: Identify one destructive pattern, addiction, or "dead" area in your life. Confess it to a trusted believer and ask them to pray with you for Christ's resurrection power to bring new life. 4) Share Your Story: Like Jorge shared in both services, share with someone this week how Jesus has brought you from death to life—whether that's your salvation story or a specific area where He's brought transformation. 5) Examine Your Belief: Honestly evaluate whether you're truly trusting Jesus with your life or just giving intellectual acknowledgment. What would it look like to fully surrender one specific area to Him this week? Worship Setlist: Who Else; That's My King; Behold the Lamb; What A Beautiful Name; You've Already Won; Because He Lives

Because He Lives: An Easter Message on Romans 6:1-11 The post Morning Worship 4-5-26 – Because He Lives appeared first on Tunnel Hill Baptist Church.
In this Easter Sunday message from our Because He Lives series, Because He Lives We Can Have New Life, we celebrated the resurrection not just as something that happened, but as an invitation extended to each of us. Because Jesus rose from the dead, forgiveness is real, hope is alive, and new life is availablenot someday, but right now. This sermon brought us to a clear and personal moment: the life Jesus offers is not automatic, but it is freely given to those who receive Him. Because He lives, your past does not define you, your sin does not hold you, and your future is not closed. New life is possibleand it begins with saying yes to Him.
This Sunday's Inspirational Message is: Because He Lives: Hope for Today and Tomorrow! Today we are focusing on the greatest event in human history—the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And we are going to reflect on that truth through a beloved hymn, Because He Lives. Many of you know the words: "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone." But here's the thing—those words are not just sentimental. They are deeply biblical. They are rooted in the historical, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Let me say that clearly: Jesus really rose. This is not symbolic. This is not poetic. This is not wishful thinking. This is the foundation of our faith. And because He lives, everything changes. It changes how we face fear. It changes how we endure suffering. It changes how we approach uncertainty. And it changes how we face death. In today's message, we're going to explore what it really means to live in light of the resurrection. Not just to celebrate it—but to live in it. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! In this message from our Because He Lives series, Because He Lives We Are Made New, we explored what it means to be a new creation in Christ. Because of Jesus death and resurrection, our identity is no longer defined by our past, our failures, or the labels weve carriedwe are made new. This isnt just a future promise, but a present reality that reshapes how we see ourselves and how we live. This sermon invited us to recognize the ways we can drift back into old identitiesthrough familiarity, shame, lingering voices, or simply not knowing how to live differentlyand to anchor ourselves again in what is true. Because He lives, we dont have to return to who we were. We can walk forward in the new life He has already given.
In this message from our Because He Lives series, Draw Near, we were invited to rethink what it means to come close to God. Because of Jesusour great High Priestthe distance has been removed. We dont approach God based on our performance or how put together our lives feel, but through what Christ has already done for us. This sermon reminded us that we are not waiting for an invitationweve already been given one. Because He lives, we can come near with confidence, honesty, and trust, knowing we will be met with grace, mercy, and the presence of God Himself.
In this message from our Because He Lives series, Love Moved First, we looked at what the cross reveals about who God is. Before we reached for Him, before we cleaned ourselves up or got it right, God moved toward us in love. The cross is not a response to our effortit is the starting point of our relationship with Him. This sermon invited us to lay down the idea that we have to earn Gods love and instead receive what has already been given. Because Jesus lived, died, and rose again, we dont live trying to be acceptedwe live from the place of already being loved.
On this Freedom Friday, we wrapped up our weekly theme, “What is God’s Will for My Life?” with a discussion about turning from the world and choosing to serve and fear the Lord. We turned to Joshua 24:15, where we see Joshua tell the Israelites that they must choose whom they will serve: the world or the Lord. Joshua made it very clear who he serves as he said, “But as for me and my household, we serve the Lord.” We then turned to the phone lines to ask listeners to share a time they had an “as for me” moment when they chose to serve the Lord over the idols of man. Then we had Dr. Erwin Lutzer join us to discuss how to see the sovereignty of God in the face of unanswered prayers and not get discouraged by them. Dr. Lutzer is Pastor Emeritus of Moody Church. He is also the featured speaker on two radio programs: Running to Win and Songs in the Night. He also wrote several books, including his latest book, “Why Doesn’t God Answer My Prayers?” Then we had Bill Gaither join us to discuss his experience and motivation for serving the Lord through music. He also spoke about the 2026 Then Came the Morning tour. Bill is a Grammy Award-winning artist and a pioneering figure in Gospel music, and is celebrated for both his songwriting and mentorship. He is also the founder of The Bill Gaither Trio and is known for penning over 700 gospel songs, including timeless classics like “Because He Lives.” You can hear the highlights of today's program on the Karl and Crew Showcast. In 1971, a man from central Indiana penned the lyrics of a gospel song called, "Because He Lives." When Bill and Gloria Gaither first sang the lyrics, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow," they were echoing the belief and hope of centuries of Jesus followers. Because of Jesus, we have hope that things are actually gonna be okay. But how does Jesus show us that truth, and how do we do offer the same for others? Let's get up close and personal and see what we discover.
No Gospel artist has had more of a seismic impact on Christian music over the last 100 years than Bill Gaither. Along with Gloria, his wife of more than 62 years, the Gaithers have left an indelible mark, writing more than 700 songs, many of which have become staples of Sunday morning praise and worship across the world. With songs like “He Touched Me”, “Because He Lives”, and “The King is Coming”, just to name a few of the highly recognizable standards they have written and recorded, there is little doubt why this Gospel Music Hall of Famer was named Christian Songwriter of the Century by ASCAP more than 20 years ago. Now, as Gaither settles into his seventh decade in Christian music, he is launching a new television program on TBN that is based on an old, yet highly popular idea. It's called “Gaither Gospel Hour” and has just started airing on Saturday nights at 8pm, on TBN.Gaither joins us to talk about the songwriting process that has propelled him to write so many profound staples of Christian music and whether his approach is any different than it was when he started out. Listen as the venerable music legend shares about his new television series, "Gaither Gospel Hour" and what he sees for the future of Gaither Music.
