December 28, 2025 Sermon - From Slaves To Sons

Serving Jesus Christ

This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   From Slaves To Sons! Today we turn to Galatians 4:4–7. In just four verses, the Apostle Paul gives us one of the clearest explanations in all of Scripture of what Christmas truly accomplished. Paul doesn't describe shepherds or angels. He doesn't mention a star or a manger. Instead, he tells us why Jesus came and what His coming permanently changed. And here's the thing—many people celebrate Christmas emotionally or traditionally. They feel something during the season. They enjoy the familiarity. But they never come to rest in the assurance Christ came to give. Paul tells us plainly: because of Christ, believers are no longer slaves, but sons. And if sons, then heirs. That is not sentimental language. It is legal language. It is relational language. And it is meant to give deep, lasting assurance. This passage answers some of the most important questions we quietly carry: Do I really belong to God? Am I secure with Him, or can I lose that standing? Does God truly care about me in my weakness, my waiting, and my suffering? Paul's answer is clear and steady: yes—because God sent His Son at exactly the right time to redeem you and to bring you fully into His family. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   What The Birth Of Christ Means! Today's message is titled "What The Birth Of Christ Means!"We are going straight to the heart of Christmas - not the sentimental  version, but the staggering, life-altering, universe-rescuing truth of the incarnation. Our home base will be Luke 2:1-20, but we'll also draw from Matthew, Isaiah, Micah, John, Philippians, Hebrews, and Romans. Here is the Big Idea we will circle: The birth of Christ means God has come personally, permanently, and powerfully to save sinners and restore everything sin has broken. The proposition is simple and life-changing: Because Jesus was born as truly human in Bethlehem, every promise of God is guaranteed, every pain of humanity is understood, and every penalty for sin is fully paid. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   The Only King Who Reigns Forever Psalm 146 is the first movement of the grand Hallelujah symphony that closes the entire book of Psalms. Five psalms—146 through 150—all beginning and ending with the exact same Hebrew word meaning to "Praise the LORD!" Ancient Israel apparently wanted to go out with a bang, not a whimper. Today we're going to linger in this song line by line, because it diagnoses the disease of our age—misplaced hope—and then prescribes the only cure that actually works: lifelong, wholehearted, breathless praise of the God who made the heavens and the earth and who will outlast every empire. This week, every single time this week you feel that familiar tightness in your chest over politics, health, money, or your kids' future, I want you to whisper verse 3 and then answer it with verse 5. Out loud. In the tractor, in the kitchen, or wherever you are—doesn't matter Psalms 146:3 NAS95  Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. Psalms 146:5 NAS95  How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the LORD his God. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! Week 2 | The King Has Come: Peace

In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Fruit In Keeping With Repentance On this Second Sunday of Advent, the Church has always heard one voice rising above the noise of the season: the voice of John the Baptist crying in the wilderness, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" While the world rushes toward Christmas with lights and lists, the lectionary pulls us into the desert for a moment, because true preparation for the coming King is never superficial. It begins in the heart. John doesn't offer sentimental comfort; he offers life-changing hope. Repentance, he says, must produce fruit—real, visible, lasting evidence that the King is reshaping us from the inside out. In today's message, we'll walk straight through Matthew 3:1–12 and ask the question Advent forces on every honest heart: Am I truly ready for Jesus to come—not just to a manger 2,000 years ago, but to my life today, and when He returns in glory? If you long for more than a frantic December, if you want Christmas to change you instead of just entertain you, open your Bible with me to Matthew 3 and let's get ready together. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Ready For The Day Today we light the first Advent candle—the candle of hope, the prophecy candle—and we open our Bibles to one of the most sobering and stirring passages in the New Testament: Matthew 24:36–44. Jesus tells us plainly that He is coming back at an hour we do not expect, and He uses words like "thief" and "flood" and "one taken, one left." If we're honest, those images can make our hearts race a little. But here's the thing—they're meant to wake us up, not scare us to death. They're meant to fill us with holy expectation. Big Idea today for this message is: Because Jesus is coming at an hour we do not expect, we live every ordinary day as people who are awake, watchful, and working for His kingdom. We'll walk through three clear movements in the text: 1.     The rock-solid Certainty of His coming 2.     The deliberate Uncertainty of the timing 3.     The daily Urgency of readiness * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   The Preeminence of Christ Today we're in Colossians 1:13–20, one of the highest mountain peaks in all of Scripture. Paul takes us straight to the throne of the preeminent Christ—the One who rescued us from the dominion of darkness, the One by whom and for whom everything exists, the One in whom all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, the One who reconciled all things by the blood of His cross. Here's the big idea we'll keep coming back to: Jesus Christ is supreme over creation, supreme over the new creation, and therefore supreme over every square inch of our lives. The proposition is simple and life-changing: Because Christ is preeminent in everything, we must gladly give Him first place in everything. During the next minutes we'll look at three points in the text: He has delivered us and transferred us (vv. 13–14) He is the Creator and Sustainer who holds all things together (vv. 15–17) He is the Head of the church and the Reconciler of all things (vv. 18–20) Then we'll land on some very practical ways this supreme Christ changes how we wake up tomorrow morning, how we face cancer or any other trial, how we treat our spouse, how we spend our money, and how we speak about Jesus to our neighbors. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   The Day Is Coming! Today we're digging into a passage that has both weight and hope: Malachi 4:1-6. We'll walk together through the final admonition of the Old Testament, exploring the coming "day of the Lord," the promise for those who fear His name, the call to remember God's statutes, and the hope of restoration through the one sent before that great day. Here's the thing — this passage doesn't simply belong in ancient history; it speaks to us here, now, in our lives, our families, our community. I'm aware, myself, as I go through my health journey, how life sometimes feels fragile, how time sometimes seems shorter; and in that awareness I find this passage deeply comforting and challenging. It's comforting because we belong to God, and He assures us of healing and restoration. It's challenging because He warns us of a day coming, a day we cannot avoid, a day we need to be ready for. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Standing Firm Until He Comes Today we're opening God's Word to 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8—a passage about calmness in confusion, truth in the face of deception, and endurance when the world seems to shake. Paul writes to believers who were frightened, convinced that the day of the Lord had already come. Some were anxious, some disillusioned, some even giving up hope. But Paul reminds them—and us—that God has not lost control. We'll walk through three major truths: 1.     The call to not be shaken, to stay anchored when rumors and fears swirl. 2.     The revelation of lawlessness and the mysterious restrainer—reminding us that evil is real but never sovereign. 3.     And finally, the glorious triumph of Christ, who will destroy wickedness simply by the breath of His mouth. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   God's Call To Wash And Return Today's message comes from the book of Isaiah, chapter one, verses ten through eighteen — a passage where the Lord speaks to His people about the danger of empty religion. It's a strong word, yet a gracious one. God is not rejecting worship itself; He is calling for hearts that are sincere, lives that match the prayers we pray, and faith that transforms the way we live. Isaiah's words pierce through the surface of religion and reach deep into the heart. They remind us that God desires obedience more than offerings, repentance more than ritual, and transformation more than tradition. If you've ever wondered whether your walk with God has grown routine — if your faith has ever felt mechanical, distant, or tired — then this message is for you. The Lord invites His people to reason with Him, to come and be cleansed. His grace is greater than our rebellion, and His mercy is still calling us home. [My apologies for not uploading this earlier!] This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Finishing Well: The Crown That Awaits This week's message is titled “Finishing Well: The Crown That Awaits.” We'll be studying 2 Timothy 4:6–8, where the Apostle Paul, nearing the end of his earthly journey, reflects with calm assurance upon a life spent serving Christ. These verses are often read at funerals, but they were written by a man who was very much alive — chained in a Roman cell yet utterly confident in the victory of faith. Paul's words are not those of defeat but of fulfillment. He could say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.” His eyes were not on the executioner's sword but on the righteous Judge who awaited him in glory. In this episode, we'll look closely at what it means to finish well — to live with eternity in view, to remain faithful through suffering, and to anticipate the crown that awaits those who love Christ's appearing. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Faithful in the Word, Urgent in the Task In today's message we're turning to 2 Timothy 3:14–4:5, a passage that captures the last words of the Apostle Paul. He's sitting in a Roman prison cell, chained, forgotten by many, but not by God. His earthly journey is nearly complete. He's about to hand the torch of ministry to a young pastor named Timothy. And his message isn't sentimental—it's urgent. Paul knows the times are dark. The Roman Empire is hostile to Christians. False teachers have crept into the church. Many who once walked with Paul have deserted him. Yet in the midst of it all, he doesn't tell Timothy to hide, or to protect his reputation, or to make peace with the world. Instead, he says, “Continue in the Word. Preach the Word. Endure in the task.” You see, Paul knew something that we need to remember: when everything else collapses—when culture decays, when morality fades, when truth is questioned—the Word of God remains. It stands eternal and unshaken. And every generation of believers must take up that same call: to cling to Scripture and to proclaim it boldly. Honestly, if you look around our world today, you can see how relevant Paul's words are. People hunger for meaning but reject the source of truth. There's confusion about morality, identity, and purpose. And yet God's Word cuts through the noise. It is living, active, sharper than any two-edged sword. So here's the thing: this passage is not just for pastors or preachers. It's for every follower of Christ who wants to live faithfully in an unfaithful age. It's a call to be anchored in Scripture when others drift, to stand firm when others bend, to keep proclaiming Christ when others fall silent. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Be Strong In Christ's Grace You know, life often feels like a relentless struggle. The world tells us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, to dig deep and “just try harder.” But if we're honest, there are plenty of days when that well of inner strength feels empty. Maybe you've been walking through a season of health struggles, financial pressure, or spiritual dryness. Maybe you've experienced loss or discouragement and wondered where to find hope. And in those moments, we don't need pep talks or clichés—we need strength beyond ourselves. That's exactly where the Apostle Paul brings us in 2 Timothy 2:1–13. He's sitting in a Roman dungeon, chains around his wrists, awaiting execution. Yet instead of despair, he writes with clarity, urgency, and unshakable faith. And his words to young Timothy still ring out to us today: “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” Paul goes on to give us three vivid images—of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer. Each one is meant to drive home the reality that following Jesus is not casual, not optional, and not effortless. It requires endurance, focus, and trust. But here's the encouragement: the strength doesn't come from us. It comes from the grace that flows from Christ. Grace that forgives, yes—but also grace that sustains. Grace that strengthens. Grace that equips us to carry on when we would otherwise give up. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   Hope in a World That Feels Hopeless We live in a world where hope feels like a rare commodity. Every headline seems to scream despair—wars, moral collapse, division in our communities, sickness, and uncertainty about the future. And yet, Scripture insists that followers of Christ have something the world can't offer: a blessed hope. Not a fragile optimism, not wishful thinking, but a steady and certain confidence grounded in Jesus Christ. Our passage today is Titus 2:13, which says: "Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus." (Titus 2:13, NASB95) This verse anchors us in something real. It reminds us that Christian hope is not built on circumstances but on a Person—our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He has come once to save us, and He is coming again to reign in glory. That truth changes everything about how we live in the present. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! Reflecting on a personal story from his childhood in 1983, when his prized BMX bike was stolen, Pastor Jeff illustrates how unguarded decisions can lead to regret and loss. He emphasizes that the heart is both valuable and prone to deception, urging listeners to protect it by renewing their minds with God's Word and discerning what influences they allow in. Through practical steps, like setting a daily reminder to reflect on “What has my heart?” and engaging in upcoming church workshops, Pastor Jeff encourages the congregation to cultivate a peaceful, discerning heart rooted in faith. This Sunday's Inspirational Message is:   A Lesson On Eternity The passage we're looking at today is one of Jesus' most sobering stories: Luke 16:19–31, the account of the rich man and Lazarus. Some passages in Scripture wrap us in comfort like a warm blanket on a cold night. Others shake us awake like an alarm clock you didn't want to hear. This one somehow does both. It comforts us with the reality of eternal life for those who belong to God. And it shakes us with the reality of eternal separation for those who reject Him. Here's the thing: Jesus doesn't tell this story just to scare us. He doesn't tell it for shock value, as though He's spinning some kind of horror tale. No—He tells it to open our eyes. He tells it because eternity is real. Heaven and hell are not abstract concepts, not just church words we say without thinking. They are eternal destinations, and our response to God's Word here and now matters forever. So in this message, we're going to look at three things: 1.    The contrast between worldly wealth and eternal poverty, 2.    The reality of heaven and hell, and 3.    The urgency of responding to God's Word now—before it's too late. And let me ask you right at the start: are you living for what will last forever, or are you pouring your life into what is already fading away? That's the heart of this story. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! Perfecting Faith Church with Pastor Donnie McClurkin

What does it mean for the Church to be a living Ebenezer in today's world? In this powerful message, Pastor Donnie McClurkin challenges the direction of modern Christianity and calls the body of Christ back to humility, repentance, and biblical truth.  Preaching from 1 Samuel 7:12, Pastor McClurkin reminds us that the Church must reflect God's help, not human pride. He critiques the celebrity culture in the Church, confronts the misuse of God's name in national symbols, and urges pastors to stop promoting themselves and start serving.  This message is a call to holiness, to become living testimonies of God's deliverance—true Ebenezers in a world that desperately needs His help. The Church must return to being a humble, holy reflection of God's presence—living Ebenezers that point to His power and grace. What if the waiting season is the place where your faith truly grows? Pastor James Wilson reminds us that God's timing is perfect, even when we feel pressure to rush. Preaching from Psalm 52:6-9, he emphasizes that waiting on God's promises is not a punishment, but a process that builds righteousness through the Holy Spirit. He also referenced Isaiah 64:4 and Ephesians 3:20 to encourage believers to embrace patience and see waiting as an opportunity for spiritual growth. Waiting on God refines us, strengthens us, and aligns us with His will. Trust His timing—it's always right. The waiting season is not wasted; it's where God prepares you for what's next. Are you truly walking in the freedom Christ already won for you? In this powerful sermon, Pastor Donnie McClurkin brings Paul's message to the Galatians to life, urging believers to stand firm in their freedom and refuse to return to bondage (Galatians 5:1). He explains that bondage goes beyond sin—it includes toxic mindsets, emotional wounds, and generational curses that quietly shape our lives. Through prayer and the keys of the Kingdom, we've been given divine authority to overcome fear, insecurity, and unforgiveness. This message isn't just inspirational—it's a bold reminder of the transforming power of Jesus' sacrifice, which breaks every chain, washes away the past, and redefines who we are in Him. The sermon closes with a powerful call to live each day in the freedom Christ offers—not as a distant ideal, but as a present reality. True freedom isn't just the absence of sin—it's walking in the fullness of your identity, authority, and purpose in Christ. Our faith can override your circumstances, and provision comes when you trust completely, so you have nothing to worry about. How do you step out in faith, even when you can't see the full picture? In this insightful message, Pastor Rebecca West shares what it means to walk by faith, even when circumstances seem challenging. She focuses on 1 John 5:15, reminding us that God hears and answers our prayers. Even when the answer isn't yet visible, we can believe that He is working. She explains that faith is about trusting God, not just seeing immediate results. Even amidst the unknown and trials, we can still praise God. Pastor Rebecca also shares that faith requires action. It's wise to start preparing for what you're believing in God for—because He is faithful and will always work things out for you. What does it really mean to believe in Jesus—not just in your mind, but with your life? In this powerful message, Pastor James Wilson explores the depth of true belief in Jesus Christ, challenging us to move beyond intellectual agreement to a life of full trust and surrender. Drawing from John 4:39–42 and John 3:16, Pastor Wilson reminds us that real faith is rooted in personal encounter and testimony, not just what we've heard about Jesus. He further unpacks this truth through passages like Joshua 24:15, 1 Peter 1:15–16, Philippians 4:19, and Ephesians 1:13, calling believers to live set apart lives, grounded in holiness and bold trust in God's promises. Whether you're standing against the pressures of culture or seeking assurance in your walk, this message will stir your heart to trust the One who transforms and sustains more deeply. Are you carrying silent burdens that no one else sees? It's time to find real healing and rest. In this powerful Sunday sermon, Pastor Donnie McClurkin shares a heartfelt message about understanding and experiencing the true rest that God offers. Drawing from Matthew 11:28-30 and 1 Peter 5:7, Pastor Donnie reminds us that while many know God, few fully lean on His support, continuing to live stressed and overwhelmed. Pastor Donnie explains the trichotomy of man—body, soul, and spirit—and challenges us to stop masking our inner wounds with superficial faith. Through personal stories and biblical truth, he shows how unresolved pain can block us from the freedom Christ intended. If you are ready to experience the peace and healing only Jesus can give, this message is for you. God does not want us to live burdened or broken. He invites us into His rest, calling us to cast every care on Him and walk fully in healing and wholeness. Are you carrying burdens you were never meant to carry? In this powerful Resurrection Sunday message, Pastor Donnie McClurkin invites us to encounter the love, rest, and redemption found in Jesus Christ. Centered around Matthew 11:28—"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest"—Pastor McClurkin reminds us that Jesus is meek, lowly in heart, and willing to exchange our heaviness for His peace. This sermon highlights the deep love of Christ, His hatred for what sin does to us, and His desire to see us healed, restored, and walking in freedom. His sacrifice wasn't just to forgive sin, but to end the cycle of shame, guilt, and condemnation. Jesus is not pushing us away—He's calling us closer, ready to heal what's broken and offer new life in Him. Drawing from Joel 2:25, he reassures us that God will restore everything the enemy has stolen, providing for His people even in the face of trials. Pastor McClurkin also emphasizes the importance of generational unity, urging the younger generation to embrace their divine assignments while the older generation steps up to mentor and guide. Above all, he calls believers to prepare for the return of Jesus Christ by living holy lives and fulfilling their God-given purpose. Are you in the right season of your life, or are you resisting the change God is leading you through? Pastor Donnie McClurkin delivers a powerful message on the importance of understanding and embracing the seasons of life. Drawing from Ecclesiastes 3:1, he explains the difference between Kairos (divine timing) and Chronos (chronological time) and how recognizing God's perfect timing brings peace and direction.  What a beautiful reminder that just as nature shifts from one season to another, our lives are meant to change, grow, and evolve according to God's purpose. He also references Jeremiah 8:7 and Psalm 23, showing that God, as our Good Shepherd, is always leading us toward His perfect plan, even when we don't understand the path. No season is permanent. When we trust God's timing, we move from struggle to abundance, from uncertainty to divine success. Embrace the season you're in, knowing that God is working on everything for your good! True success isn't measured by fame, wealth, or human approval—it is found in unwavering obedience to God. But why do so many believers get easily distracted by temporary recognition instead of embracing a life of deep meaning and purpose? In this powerful sermon, Pastor Donnie McClurkin draws from 1 Corinthians 15:58, urging believers to remain steadfast in the work of the Lord rather than chasing worldly validation. He challenges the mindset that elevates status over holiness, pointing to Jesus as the ultimate example of humility and purpose. He closes with a powerful reminder: Your opinion of yourself has got to be based on what God says. Find true freedom in Christ and embrace the calling He has for you.  If you've ever felt like you're not enough or struggled to find your place, this message is for you. Your life matters more than you know! Sermon Scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:58   We stream live every Sunday at 11 am ET and every Wednesday at 8 pm ET. There is a purpose called success that is available to every believer, but why are so many still living beneath their privileges? Too many believers, consistently, are embroiled in unproductive affairs, and are failing to accomplish the greater success that God has called them to.  Pastor Donnie McClurkin, with much exuberance, addressed the elements of success preordained by God. From his text in Jeremiah 29, he reminded the believers that they should expect to excel and achieve their goals because their destiny is in God. They should push forward, while never looking back at past failures and  expect to win.  It's time for them to get out of the perpetual struggle of poverty, brokenness and all dysfunctions and seize the opportunities that are ahead. He cautioned, however, that they should not allow life to deprive them of what God has destined for them and that it's never too late to begin again.  He closed emphatically saying, to never give up on hope. So expect the victory, expect the love, expect the peace and certainly, expect the great success. Expect to win!
