A short, inspirational thought for today, from Angus Buchan.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 31st of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 4:35:”Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”Do not be unprepared for the greatest harvest the world has ever seen. The signs are all there. The question is, are you ready to bring it in? Are you prepared? Is your harvesting equipment in order? In this day and age, the scythe that they used in the old days to cut down the wheat and the corn is not sufficient. The harvest is too great and the time is too short. It is time for that huge four-row, six-row mechanical harvester that can harvest literally hundreds of acres in a day. Remember, we need to be ready.I remember as a young farmer, once passing a farm where a man had a beautiful crop of maize. Golden unto harvest. It was magnificent, but every day that I rode past that farm, nothing was happening and then I saw in the corner of the farm, he was planting a crop of cabbages but the time was running out. He could not see it, and the tragedy was that in the end, when he did start to harvest this beautiful crop of maize, it was too late. It was springtime and the rain began to come and blew the crop over and the crop rotted in the ground.Today is the day of salvation, not tomorrow. Tell that loved one today, they must be ready for the coming of the Lord. Tell those people who are sitting on the fence, you need to make up your mind. Are you going to be part of what God has prepared for us or are you not? Because you cannot be indecisive. We really need to get our act together. Get that harvester into the field. Get the crop in while there is still time left.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful harvesting day today,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 30th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. Matthew 17:21. Jesus says:”However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”Now remember the story, the disciples could not cure the young man who was demonised. They failed. Jesus came in, prayed over him, cast out the demon immediately. They came to the Lord, they said. ”Lord, how come we could not do that?” And He said, ”This kind only comes out except by prayer and fasting.” He said, ”If you've got faith the size of a mustard seed, you can tell that mountain to move from here to there, and nothing will be impossible.”We need to fast today. I have asked very humbly that you will join me. In a couple of days time we are going to the Cape Flats in Cape Town, South Africa and we are believing for a full stadium of young men. It is a Mighty Men Conference and we are going to trust God for a complete encounter with the Holy Spirit, and we want to purify ourselves, even today. Now you might ask, well, I can't fast because medically the doctors have said I've got to keep eating. That's fine, it's no problem. Maybe you can spend a little less time watching television and read your Bible and pray a little more. Maybe today, you can go without something that is very special to you. Maybe you like eating chocolate, what about giving it a break? You say, ”Come on. Angus, fasting is a bit more important than that.” No, it's not. It's a time when we will remember the Lord. Maybe you need to just drink water today and nothing else. Maybe you need to have an extra quiet time in the middle of the day and pray for the situation that we are going to face on Saturday. Young people are getting murdered daily. Young children are getting caught up in the cross fire. Old people are getting murdered in their homes through the gang wars. It's got to stop, and we are asking you to please fast and pray with us so that the Lord can completely take over in that stadium.Never before in my life have I been so excited about what God is going to do on the 1st of November at two o'clock in the afternoon in the Cape Flats in South Africa, when we face up to this terrible slaughter that is taking place, and in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we will cast it out. Please fast today with us.God bless you and have a special day today.Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 29th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 25:40, and this is what the Lord says to Moses: ”And see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” The building of the tabernacle - keep it to the pattern. Then we go straight to the Gospel of John 14:15. Jesus says:“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”Don't tell people you love them, then do the opposite. “You shall know them by their fruit,” Jesus says. An apple tree produces apples, and an orange tree produces oranges. We really need to keep to the pattern. You know what a blueprint is, young man? A blueprint is something that you have been given by a builder, and then he says, ”Build it according to the blueprint. Do not change anything because it is proven, this building will stand if you build it according to the blueprint.” Smith Wigglesworth said, ”Jesus said it, I believe it and that settles it.” No arguments! What does the word say, that is your pattern for this life. That is your blueprint. You know the wisest man that ever lived, according to the word of God, was Solomon, and if you look at Ecclesiastes 1:9, He said, ' ... And there is nothing new under the sun.” It has all happened before, it will all happen again, but we've got some whizz-kids thinking they are inventing something new. Nothing new under the sun. I sound like an old man, don't I? Well, I'm getting old, and I want to tell that young lady, I wish that I knew when I was your age what I know now, and I wouldn't have made so many mistakes and I wouldn't have hurt so many people. The Lord told a farmer named Noah to build an ark. He said build it according to the blueprint, and he did, and the ark never sank, did it? There is nothing new. Running your home - run it according to the principles of God. Discipline in your house, love your wife, submit to your husband, respect your parents, discipline your children. These are according to the blueprint. What about business? “Aah, my people don't want to work for me.” Maybe because you don't pay them correctly. What about having a quiet time every morning? You say, ”Uncle Angus, you're always telling us that.” Of course, I am, because that's where you'll get your instructions for the blueprint that you are going to implement on that day. Practise what you have been taught.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 28th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of John. Now, the most famous verse in the whole Bible has got to be John 3:16. Ask your little girl, your little boy as you are driving them to school and they will quote it for you and they will: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” But don't we often just stop there? What about verse 17? Now, this morning, the Lord Jesus impressed upon me to share with you the importance of the next verse, verse 17:“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” Oh, what a beautiful scripture! The Lord does not condemn you today, Sir. The Lord came to forgive you of all your sins so that you can live a life that is abundant. If we go to Romans 8:1, I will confirm that: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,...” If you love the Lord Jesus with all your heart today, He says, “I do not condemn you”, He says, “I came to set you free.” When the Father forgives, He forgets. Isn't that beautiful? When you forgive somebody for something they have done and you have a bit of an off day, what do you do? Oh yes, you do! I do as well, ”Remember that thing that you did the other day?” No, when the Lord forgives, He forgets.“Lord, remember that sin I committed before I became a Christian?”“No, I don't remember it at all, and I don't want to hear about it.”What do we need to do this morning? We need to repent. Say sorry for the thing we have done and then move on with our life. Now this is important that I am going to share with you. It is the devil, satan, who condemns you, but Jesus convicts you. There is a big difference. He says, “Listen, get your life right. Stop that nonsense, stop having that affair because it is going to catch you out and destroy your marriage, stop that drinking because it is going to kill you.” I want to say to you as we close, I remember a long time ago hearing a story about a little lake, and there is a big signboard which says, “No fishing here!” Now, you take that sin, that thing that is condemning you, throw it into that lake and put that sign up, “No fishing,” and move on with your life for Jesus. He loves you. That's why He died for you.Have a wonderful day,God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, 27th October 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 25:8:”And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.” Then we go to the Gospel of Mark 1:35:”Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a “solitary place; and there He prayed.” Do you have a solitary place where you meet with God every morning? It is very important, especially in this hectic lifestyle that we are living in at present. I want to tell you about a place called a poustinia. It is a Russian word for a quiet time place. It literally means a desert place. Yes, a physical one but also a spiritual one. Do you have a place where you can come aside on your own, where the family doesn't come and distract you, or anybody, and spend undivided time with the Lord every day? A poustinia is a quiet place to contemplate, to think about, a place to encounter God. It's a place where you remove all distractions. It's a place for solitude and prayer. It's not a thing, it is a practice. Now, I want to tell you about my poustinia. When I travel, it is very busy. Sometimes I have to change planes, I have to wait in the departure lounge, maybe sometimes for an hour, two hours before I go to the next appointment to preach, and it is very busy. Then I close my eyes and go into my spiritual quiet time place, my poustinia, and I will describe it to you: There's a place up in Zambia where they buried the heart of Dr David Livingstone after he died, and I went and spent time there. Now you walk down this little path and on the left hand side you'll find a big log. I sit there quietly. I hear the birds singing. There's a gentle breeze blowing the reeds and I pray and I spend time with God and refresh myself. Then I hear on the overhead speakers, ”Flight number 256, flying to Nashville, Tennessee, is now boarding through Gate number 25.” I get up, take my bags and I move on. I am refreshed. I have spent time with Jesus. You need to do the same today.God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 26th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 3:7. This is Jesus talking: ”Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.”Then we go to 2 Corinthians 5:17:”Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” We must make a new start. We must be born again. That is not a charismatic or a Pentecostal statement, that is a Jesus statement. Every single man, woman and child must be reborn. You see, you telling me that, ”Ah, I come from a Christian family and I was born into a Christian family, and my mother and my father were Christians, and my grandfather and grandmother were Christians. I want to tell you something very carefully, the Lord has no grandchildren in heaven. Do you know what that means? It means that every one of us, me included, especially me, we need to make a clean start. We need to start all over again. Each one of us has to make a personal commitment to Jesus. That's what Jesus told Nicodemus. Nicodemus said, ”How can a grown man go back into his mother's womb for a second time?” Jesus said, ”You don't know where the wind comes from and you don't know where it goes but you can feel it. You can feel it on your face.”I want to say to you today, please consider what the Lord is saying. It is so very important. We are living in the last days. Look around you, see what is happening. We need to make a complete change in our lives. Let's do it today. I want to pray a prayer with you. There's somebody that's listening to this message who has been struggling with this issue for many years. Please let that pride fall away and say, ”Lord today, I want to tell you, I cannot carry on on my own, I can't make it. This depression is killing me. The stress. The responsibility with the family.” I know, I was there. Now let us pray this prayer together. I'm going to pray it real slow so that you can grasp it and it's going to be very simple. Pray after me:Dear Lord Jesus,I know that I am a sinner, and I need you to save me. You have told me this morning, very clearly, through Your word that I need to be born again. I repent of all my sins and I ask You alone to be my Lord and my Saviour. I will serve no other gods but You. Thank You for dying for me, a sinner, on the cross of Calvary. In Jesus' name, amen. Now go out and tell the first three people you meet what you've done, ”I have become a born-again Christian.” Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 25th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. ”...Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”Nehemiah 8:10I want to sing a hymn with you today. Do you remember Fanny Crosby? Remember, she was stone blind, but she wrote some of the most beautiful hymns that have ever been written. Do you know that beautiful one “Do not pass me by, oh gentle Saviour”?Let's sing it together:Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,Hear my humble cry; While on others Thou art calling,Do not pass me by.Saviour, Saviour,Hear my humble cry,While on others Thou art calling,Do not pass me by.Doesn't that make you feel good? Absolutely! Now the other day, I was walking through the field and a young girl, I didn't even see her, she was listening to me, I was whistling. I say with great sadness in my heart, how many people do you hear that whistle these days? I hardly hear anyone, but I love whistling, and I'm going to try and whistle this one for you today.Go out today and whistle and you'll feel so much better and Jesus will be so close to you.God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 24th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for the day. We start in the Gospel of John 15:7. Jesus says:”If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” Then we go to the Gospel of Matthew 11:28-29. Jesus says:”Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”I really want to share my heart with you this morning, the Lord has been so very, very close to me. I've been listening to a broadcast by Andrew Murray, the South African preacher, whose books are still very well read, all over the world. The one I've been listening to is, “Abide in Christ.” Stay in the Lord, that's what he wrote, and then just a few days ago I sent you that thought for today, “Practise the presence of God.” “Practise the presence of God” by brother Lawrence, the French monk who lived 300 years ago. People flocked around him all the time. All he was, was the cook in that monastery. He wasn't the abbot or holding a senior position and he used to mend sandals, remember I told you. In fact, he himself never wore any shoes but the people flocked around him. Why? Because Jesus was in him! You see, he said that Jesus was with him wherever he went, and I want to encourage you today. That's exactly what Andrew Murray's talking about. He says, if you abide in Christ and He abides in you, then you are with God all the time. Whether you are a shoe maker; a cook in the kitchen; whether you are a CEO of a large company; whether you are an airline pilot, whether you are a policeman; a school teacher; a farmer; a miner, Jesus can be with you all the time if you allow Him to.Remember Colossians 1:27: ”…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” It's not about going to church on Sunday. Yes, I go to church every Sunday. It's not about going to a midweek Bible study, I go to two prayer meetings every week, but that's not where I find Jesus. I find Jesus every moment of every day in my life, from the time I open my eyes to the time I go to sleep, and what these mighty men of God are talking about is that we can live with the Lord even when we are here on earth. We don't have to wait until we get to heaven to experience the presence of God!Today, open your heart, listen to the word of God and talk to Him because He wants to listen to you. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 23rd of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 23:10-11: ”Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce, but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow,…” What does the word fallow mean? It means to do nothing with it. It means to leave your land and let it rest. It means to let the weeds grow. It means to let the earthworms do their work. It means to allow the ground to build up compost from the residue of the previous season. For six years we work the land, I'm talking as a farmer now, in the seventh year we must grow no crops whatsoever. As a young farmer, I really struggled with this scripture from the Lord because I have a rather small farm, and it's an arable farm so we plant up the whole farm every year to grain crops. But becoming a Christian, I wanted to do the right thing, so I came up against this scripture, six years you plant, seventh year you rest, and so I said to the Lord, ”I can't rest the whole farm for one year. I'll go bankrupt.” And then I felt the Lord say to me, in my heart, ”Why don't you rest one seventh of the arable land, and after seven years, the whole farm would have rested once.” I thought that was brilliant, so that's what I did. I would leave one seventh of the land without touching it. No ploughing, nothing whatsoever. I'll never forget, one day, a young agronomist came to see me on the farm. He was a very clever young man, and he was driving around my maize fields, I was growing seed maize at that time and he said, ”Your crop looks fantastic.” Then I took him past the one field that I was resting in and he said to me, ”What is going on over there?” because the weeds were about six feet tall and the grass was growing. It looked terrible and I went and parked our pickup right next to that field and I said to him, ”Do you really want to know?” He said, ”Yes, please, I do.” He was not a Christian by the way, and I said, ”The Bible tells me I must rest the land and that's what I'm doing.” You know that he was so intrigued, we carried on talking and I ended up praying the sinner's prayer with that young man and I'm trusting that maybe he's even listening to this message at the moment. His name is Sean. Folks, I'm talking maybe over forty years ago.I want to tell you, we also need to rest. The Lord says rest the land. Rest the animals, and we need to rest so that we can be strengthened. This modern idea of just go for it seven days week, it can't be sustained. Something will break down. Please, today, listen to God's word and rest on the Sabbath. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 22nd of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 2:11: “This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.” Jesus turned the water into wine at the marriage feast in Cana, the first miracle. My dear friend, I want to say something to you. One genuine miracle equals a thousand sermons. I really believe it with all of my heart. Jesus was known by the miracles He performed, not one, but many. But the sad thing was, He performed very few miracles in His home town, Nazareth, because of the unbelief of the people. Jesus could perform very few. I want to tell you, it wasn't His sermons that convicted the people, it was the signs and wonders and miracles. Apart from the sermon on the mount, I don't know of too many other sermons that Jesus preached, but miracles, one after another, and I want to tell you that faith begets faith. Faith is contagious. When you see a miracle, it changes the whole situation. I remember many years ago, preaching right up in the northern part of Mozambique, a place called Montepuez. It was a huge meeting. The soccer field was full of people, but nothing was happening. No one was responding. I looked up and I saw there was a line of muslims right along the back of the soccer field. I could see them by the white caps they were wearing, and there was nothing happening. The Holy Spirit spoke to me almost audibly. He said, “Stop preaching. They are not listening. There is a man in the front row, (I looked down. I saw him. His leg was sticking out straight) “go and pray for him.” I went down off the platform. I did not know who he was but everybody else did know who he was. He was a woodcutter. That was what his trade was, and what had happened was, a tree had fallen on top of him and crushed his leg, and they had put a steel pin through his leg. I walked up to him, laid my hands upon him, prayed the prayer of faith, “In the name of Jesus Christ, the Miracle-worker”, asked him to stand up, we took the crutches away and he was totally healed. He was running back and forwards in front of the platform and the people went wild. I didn't have to make an altar call that day. They wanted to give their lives to Jesus before I had finished speaking, and the funny thing was too, amazingly, after the service, the muslim people came behind the big Seed Sower which I was preaching off, and they brought their sick children and their sick people for prayer. We prayed for the muslims for a long time after that service. One genuine miracle equals a thousand sermons!Jesus bless you and goodbye!

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 21st of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 1:41-42: “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus.” Who brought Peter to Jesus? It was Andrew. He introduced Peter to Jesus, and Peter, of course, eventually was the one who headed up the church when Jesus went back to heaven to be with His Father, but how many people remember Andrew being the one who introduced his brother, Peter, to Jesus? Somebody sent me a little clip some time back, and it was a beautiful story, and I want to share it with you. Two young men, 16 years old, heard there was an evangelist who had come to their local town, and these two young men decided to go and have a look. It was a tent meeting, as they arrived, they were looking for a seat, and they couldn't find one, so they both walked out the back of the tent and thought, ”Oh well, we'll just leave it.” Then an usher, yes, an Andrew, (and his name wasn't Andrew, nobody knows his name. Only Jesus knows his name, and you and I will meet him maybe one day when we get to Heaven), he ran after them. He said, ”Boys, where are you going?” “Sir, the tent is full, so we decided we'll just go along.” ”No, come with me.” He took them into the tent and brought them up to the front, found two chairs for those two young men and the rest is history. Who were they? Well, the one young man, his name was Billy Graham. I'm an evangelist myself and he's one of my heroes. He's a man who's been used by God, to introduce more people to Jesus than anybody else, ever. Today, don't despise becoming an introducer. People need to be introduced to the Lord and He, the Lord Jesus Christ, through the power of His Holy Spirit, will do the rest. Today, become an introducer. Maybe start in your own family.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 20th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Exodus 20:15:“You shall not steal.” Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 19:8-9:”Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold. And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house…”We may not take something that does not belong to us. Zacchaeus was convicted when Jesus came to his home to have a meal with him, convicted by the presence of the Lord that he was a thief. He had been stealing money from his own people, charging them exorbitant tax fees and putting the money in his own pocket. He was convicted and said, ”Lord, I will repay anything that I have stolen from anybody else 400%.” Folks, that is beautiful, that is conviction, and I want to tell you that Zacchaeus slept very well from that night onwards. What about you? Are you sleeping well at the moment? You say, ”But Angus, but I haven't stolen anything from anyone.” Are you sure? The Holy Spirit's been talking to me this morning. If you are not paying your income tax, that's theft. You say, ”But I don't believe what the government stands for.” That's got nothing to do with it, my friend. The Lord says be no man's debtor. Pay your debt. What about time from your boss? Are you stealing time from your boss? Are you doing other things in his time that you shouldn't be doing? You are stealing his time. What about paying your debt?I want to tell you a sad story. I remember a young man, many, many years ago. He was starting on his own as a mechanic. He would come to our farm and repair tractors or implements that I couldn't repair myself. Eventually, one day, he never came back. I made enquiries, ”Where is this young man?” And they said, ”He's gone bankrupt.” I said, ”Why?“ He said, “because the people would not pay their accounts and he couldn't carry on.” So sad, and then lastly, what about the time you are stealing from the Lord? Oh, my dear friend, you need to have a quiet time with the Lord every single morning. You say, ”I can't Angus, I'm too busy.” You can never be too busy to have a quiet time with Jesus. You owe it to Him. Give Him the first most precious moments of the day and you will be surprised how He will reward you.God bless you and have a lovely day, Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 19th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”Psalm 34:19 Then we go to Romans 5:3-4: “And not only that, (this is Paul speaking) but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”I have never met a man or a woman, worth their salt, who has not been through a fiery trial. The Lord never promised you or me a bed or roses when we gave our lives to Him. No, He never promised us that He would take us out of the fire. When you and I gave our lives to the Lord, we gave our lives to the Lord unconditionally. He said, “I won't take you out of the fire but I will walk with you through the fire.” You remember the three men of God, Meshach, Shadrack and Abednego in the Old Testament who were thrown into that fiery furnace because of their stand for Jesus? Well, the leader came and looked in the fiery furnace. They said to each other, “there are four men in those flames. We only put three in!” Yes, the fourth one was who else? No-one but the Master Himself, Jesus Christ! The symbol of the Christian faith is a cross, and what does a cross represent? Well, it represents death, it represents pain, but it also represents resurrection and everlasting life. I want to encourage you today if you are going through a hard time, that the Lord is walking with you. Do not be afraid. Many, many years ago there was a convoy of pickups that came driving through our entrance to the farm, Shalom. It was a group of young guys who were coming in with Nick Vujicic, the Australian, the young man who was born with no arms and no legs. He was an amazing man. He touched me deeply. He was a man who was full of grace and favour of God. He really impacted my life. He brought one of his books for me and he said, “Angus, would you like me to sign it for you?” And I looked at him, I thought he was joking. I said, “Yes please, I would love that Nick,” and they put a pen in between his teeth and he signed his name, and by the way, his writing is better than I have ever seen mine. Today, look up because Jesus is walking through the fire with you.God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 18th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the book of Proverbs 20:20:“Whoever curses his father or his mother,His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.”A very serious scripture verse - then we go to Exodus 21:17: “And he who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.” And then the last one is found in Matthew 15:4. This is Jesus speaking: “For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother'; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.' Oh, my dear friend, you probably know that Commandment Number 5 is the first commandment in the Bible that has a promise added to it: “Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12. It's not optional.I can hear a young person saying, “But Uncle Angus, you've never met my father and my mother.” Yes, I know sometimes it is very tough but we need to be kind. We need to be gentle with our folks, You see, you don't know what they've been through. Mom and dad might be in a lot of pain. Growing old, as they say, is not for sissies. Tell me about it! All those rugby injuries, that time you came off your horse, that sore knee, that sore back! It's painful and makes you a little bit grumpy so be patient with them and love them, especially if one of them has maybe gone home and the other one is left behind. They're lonely. Loneliness is a terrible thing. Love your mom and your dad. That's what Jesus said, so that your days may be long in the land. It's not optional. Respect them.I want to say something to young girls who are going to get married one of these days, I want you to have a good look and see that young man that you have fallen in love with, how he treats his mom and dad. Oh yes, that will tell you a lot about him. If he is kind and gentle to mom and dad, I can tell you, you've got a good man there and he'll be kind and gentle to you and your children.I want to tell you a little story. My old dad was a tough old man, an ex-World War 2 prisoner of war. He was a blacksmith by trade, had a hard upbringing. He was a rough and tough old man but I loved him dearly. He stayed with me on the farm after my mom went home to be with Jesus and I only found out long after he'd died - my foreman, Simeon Bhengu, came to me one day, and he said, ‘I want to tell you something. Every time he used to leave the farm to go and stay with your brother up in Johannesburg for a short holiday, he would call me into his house and he would say to me, “Look after the boss till I get home.” I mean, I was a grown man.Love dad, love mom, because they are not with you forever.God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 17th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Acts 13:25. This is Paul speaking and he says: “And as John (John the Baptist) was finishing his course, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.' Then we confirm it in the Gospel of John 1:19-20: “Now this is the testimony of John, (John the Baptist) when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.”We need to be so careful, you and I, that we don't touch God's glory. I remember a beautiful story I read long ago about St. Francis of Assisi, a man who gave up his wealth to live in the countryside, where he rebuilt a small monastery and cared for the poor, the needy, and society's outcasts. One day, some people came to him and said, “There is a young baby in the village who has been born and is severely physically handicapped. Please come and pray for the baby so that God can heal the baby.” Francis said, “No, I can't do that because if I heal that baby you will think it was me and then you will start to worship me. I can't do that. They said, “Please” - the parents were there, they were begging him. Eventually, reluctantly, he came to the village. He saw the little baby in the cot was completely physically handicapped. He laid his hands on the baby and in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Healer, he prayed, “Be healed.” The little baby opened up, started smiling, gurgling, and the people were ecstatic. He was completely restored to normal. They were so overwhelmed by the miracle of God that they did not even notice that Francis of Assisi quietly disappeared. As they turned around to thank him and to admire what God had done through him, he was nowhere to be seen. Today, be careful we do not touch God's glory. Do not draw people to yourself. John the Baptist never did that. Draw people to Jesus Christ!Have a wonderful day,God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 16th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of John 1:17: ”For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Oh folks, what an incredible promise from God - grace! What is grace? Young man, young lady, you might ask, “What is grace?” Well, the definition of grace is undeserved loving kindness or unmerited favour. We can't earn it, we can't buy it, it is free! It is given to us by our Heavenly Father through His Son, Jesus Christ. The most famous scripture verse in the whole Bible is John 3:16:”For God so loved the world (you and me) that He gave His only begotten Son, (only one, no other) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” What a promise! When I became a new Christian, it was a long time ago, not far off fifty years ago, I remember one day walking through my maize crop and I was carrying all the burdens of the world on my shoulders. I felt totally unworthy to receive such a gift from God. I had just given my life to Jesus, and then the penny dropped. The Lord impressed upon my heart, “You've given your life to me, you've given your family to me, you've given your farming business to me. So now I am in control and you are purely a manager.” You know, you cannot believe how the weight fell off my shoulders. As they say, the penny dropped, my eyes were opened. I realised what grace was all about. We can't earn our way to heaven. Yes, we have the Ten Commandments as I shared just recently, and they are to be obeyed, but they cannot be obeyed without the grace of God and I was free. So if a storm came over and destroyed my maize, which was my only source of income in those days, “That was fine, Lord, what have You got next for me?” If I had sick child, I would pray for the child and leave the child in God's hand, so that the absolute responsibility was passed on to Jesus Christ. When He died on the cross He said, ”It is finished.” Everything is completed. Now, what we need to do is go out and tell the world that Jesus has paid for all our sin. All we have to do is to believe that He has done it and to wait for His soon coming.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 15th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of John 1:15: “John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.' ” (John the Baptist talking about Jesus Christ). Then we go to the Gospel of Matthew 18:4: “Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”We are talking today about humility. I have heard humility described as controlled strength. A humble person doesn't have to be a soft person. What do they say about Moses? They said the softest part of Moses was his teeth! If you don't understand what I am saying, young person, ask your dad. He will tell you. He was a tough man to lead the whole nation through the desert for forty years. John the Baptist, there was nothing soft about him, but the amazing thing is, Jesus says, ”There has never been a man born from the womb of a woman, greater than John the Baptist.” What a compliment, coming from the Master!I want to tell you a little story. I read a book called, “Take Your glory Lord.” It was the life story of a Zulu pastor who lived down in the South Coast of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. His name was William Duma. He was an extremely anointed preacher and had a wonderful healing ministry. He was invited up into Zambia, to preach at a Baptist churc,h and the church was packed on that Sunday morning. They were all waiting to hear the word of God from this man from South Africa, and he was late! 9 o'clock came and there was no sign of him. The pastor of the church was worried. He thought, “I will just have to pull one of my sermons out of my top pocket” because he just wasn't coming. Then all of a sudden, he heard a knock-knock through the curtain that separated the back door, where the cleaning lady would come in and where everything was stored. He went through the curtain, opened the door and there was the man of God, standing at the servant's entrance - humility!Today, go out and be humble. Be humble, prefer your fellowman to yourself. Don't forget the older people. Don't forget to take care of the young children, and Jesus Christ will do the rest!God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 14th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Exodus 20:1-17:“God spoke all these words:I am God, your God,who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of a life of slavery. No other gods, only me.No carved gods of any size, shape, or form of anything whatever, whether of things that fly or walk or swim. Don't bow down to them and don't serve them because I am God, your God, and I'm a most jealous God, punishing the children for any sins their parents pass on to them to the third, and yes, even to the fourth generation of those who hate me. But I am unswervingly loyal to the thousands who love me and keep my commandments. No using the name of God, your God, in curses or silly banter; God won't put up with the irreverent use of his name.Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Work six days and do everything you need to do. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to God, your God. Don't do any work—not you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your servant, nor your maid, nor your animals, not even the foreign guest visiting in your town. For in six days God made Heaven, Earth, and sea, and everything in them; he rested on the seventh day. Therefore God blessed the Sabbath day; he set it apart as a holy day.Honor your father and mother so that you'll live a long time in the land that God, your God, is giving you.No murder. No adultery. No stealing. No lies about your neighbour. No lusting after your neighbour's house—or wife or servant or maid or ox or donkey. Don't set your heart on anything that is your neighbour's.”These are the Ten Commandments and I've read them to you through the Message Bible version, and then I can hear somebody say, ”I am a New Covenant man. These don't apply to me anymore.” Oh, my dear friend, listen to me, they do. They apply to every one of us. If you look at the Gospel of Matthew 5:17:“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 13th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 1:1-4: ”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God (that's Jesus), and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” Wow, I just love that scripture folks! You have no idea how much I love that Scripture! That's why I love the Bible so much, because Jesus Christ is the Word and when somebody says to you, ”Show me this Jesus you're always talking about, I can't see Him,” give him a Bible because Jesus is the Word. I want to say to the younger people, this Big Bang theory, it doesn't hold anything at all. It's a lie, I'm telling you, a lie from the pit of hell! They'll tell you that this whole beautiful universe of ours started by some chemical explosion. I want you to ask them a question, ”Who made the chemical explosion?” And they'll say to you, ”And how can you prove that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” You can say, ”Because the Bible tells me, “In the beginning…” He was there in the beginning with His Father.” So that holds a lot more water than talking about some big explosion. In the beginning, “I Am” was there. He's always been there and He always will be there. Now, I'm not a scientist, no, no, I'm a farmer, but I want to tell you, I defy any scientist to prove to me. We'll go for a walk into the field and I'll show him spring. It's spring here on the farm at Shalom and the leaves are coming out on the trees that have been dormant right through the winter. I see a newborn calf, I see the wild animals are breeding at the moment, it's a wonderful time of the year, but every season is a wonderful time of the year. You know why? Because Jesus made it all. He made it all, from the beginning. So, Jesus bless you today as you celebrate the wonderful truth that in the beginning was the Word and His name is Jesus Christ.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 12th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 55:11:”So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Then we go to the Gospel of Matthew 5:9:”Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called the sons of God.”Now I want to tell you a little story and I want you to hear my heart here. I'm not talking about myself or our team, I'm talking about the word of God. This little “Thought for Today”, which has been going for almost six years, is played every morning in police stations, in front of all the constables when they are standing at ease, oh, yes, I've seen the videos, they've sent them to me. At school assemblies, before work starts, at Bible colleges, which is a great honour for me, every morning. In hospitals, in wards, and we give all the glory to Jesus Christ. The word of God never returns void. It always accomplishes that which it is sent for, and of course, the peace makers. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. The other night, a beautiful family came and stayed with us - three young boys, their mom, and their dad. We were having supper together, and the mother said, ”I just want to tell you that I play the 'Thought for Today' every morning when I take the children to school. She said, ”They always used to fight. You know how they fight, “I want to sit at the door. It's my turn now.” Yes, we know. I had five of my own. She said now that she puts on the “Thought for Today” every morning, there is absolute quietness in the motorcar. That means more to me than anything. So we want to give Jesus Christ all the praise, honour and glory because His Word brings peace wherever it is spoken.Jesus bless you, have a lovely day and send that little message out as far and as wide as you can. Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 11th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. If we go to the Book of Ecclesiastes 9:10: ”Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might,…” Whatever you do!A friend came to see me and gave me a little booklet. It's called “The Practice of the Presence of God”, by a monk who lived over 300 years ago. His name was Brother Lawrence. He was a Frenchman, and this book has really impacted me. This man was just a monk in a monastery, he was nothing special, but he had the presence of God in his life all the time. He was actually the cook in the monastery and he would be cooking in the kitchen and while he was cooking he was praying, and he had the presence of the Lord in him so whatever he did, whether it was cooking, washing the dishes (by the way, he also mended sandals for the other monks in the monastery although he himself always walked barefoot) but he continually had the Presence of God in his life. So he would be cooking in the kitchen and a group of other monks would be there asking him questions, ”What about this?” and “What about that?” And he managed to do it all together. Now I'm thinking of mothers today. You are struggling to get the sandwiches made for the children for school, trying to organise dad's clothes, and wondering, ”When am I going to have my quiet time?” Well, Brother Lawrence had a quiet time 24/7, so there is no excuse for us. You and I can do exactly the same as Brother Lawrence. We can condition ourselves, discipline our hearts and minds, and think about heavenly things, praying and singing as we do our work!Whether you are working in a garage, fixing a motorcar, you'll find the customer might be standing by and asking you questions, ”Why have you got so much peace in your heart? Why are you always happy?” A doctor - what an opportunity when someone is not well, to be able to encourage them with the Word of God, not so much by preaching but just by the presence of the Lord in your heart.Today, use every opportunity that you have to speak to others about the blessed Lord Jesus Christ, and you don't have to be a preacher. You just have to do your work and to do it well and God will do the rest.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 10th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 Peter 5:7: ”Casting your care upon Him (Jesus) for He cares for you.” Why? Because we cannot carry it on our own. I'm talking to somebody who is very tired at the moment, who is very weary, heading up a large organisation, maybe a farming business or a merchandise business, or a position in an organisation that takes all of your time, and it is wearing you out. The Lord says, ”Stop it. I never meant it to be like that.” We cannot carry this responsibility completely on our own. “You've done well, you started well”, the Lord says. “You've built a huge organisation but now that same organisation is busy crushing you.”We see the illustration in Exodus 18, where Jethro, the father-in-law of Moses saw that Moses was literally wearing himself out, and the people. They were standing in large queues all day long for some help for answers to difficult situations. Jethro said, ”You must delegate to others.” I'm saying to you too madam. You cannot do it on your own. You have to get people to help you. Hand it over. You say, ”But they'll ruin it. My children will ruin it.” No they won't, you'll be surprised. How old were you when you started? Yes, you will have to pay school fees. That's how you learn. Did you not pay school fees? Did you not make mistakes? Of course you did. So did I, too many actually! Give your children a chance. Give that young aspiring executive a chance to take over. For the Mighty Men Conference in 2010, I had to make a very big decision when we had 450 thousand men on this farm, and the Lord clearly told me, through His word, ”It's time to hand over the baton.” I was very concerned, but I'm so pleased I did. There's over 20 Mighty Men Conferences happening all over the world as I talk to you, and I haven't been to one of them. Hand it over so that the Lord can develop it. If you keep it to yourself, it will crush you and the vision. Today, cast your cares and responsibilities onto the Lord, and He will develop them.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 9th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Exodus 17:11:”And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.” I want to say something to you now, Moses was on top of the hill. Joshua and Moses' men were fighting the enemy, Amalek, down in the valley. As long as Moses had his hand and his rod up in the air, Joshua was winning the battle. However, every time Moses grew tired and his arms started to sag, the enemy gained the advantage. So, what happened? Aaron, Moses' brother and Hur, one on either side, held up the hands of the man of God and the battle was won.I want to speak particularly to a lot of old gentlemen listening to this message today. You say, ”Well, what can I do now? I have retired.” Sir, there is no such word in the Bible as retirement. Promotion, but not retirement. I want to tell you, Moses wasn't a young man, otherwise he would have been in the fight, but Moses was probably holding the most important position of all. He was standing in front of the Lord, with his arms raised, holding his rod, and the young men were doing the fighting. Do not despise your age, and that goes for older ladies as well. Don't think, well the young girls are doing it now, what can I do?A gentleman came to see me a few years back. I was a young man then. He said to me, ”Angus, I can't go down the well anymore but I can stand at the top and hold onto the rope, while you go down.” Today, you can help the young men, you can help the young women, by holding onto the rope. You know, when you're standing on the hill, you can see where the young men and the young women are going because you've got a better view. You've got better direction for them. They sometimes are going around in a circle and you can say, ”No, go straight on.” Jesus said in John 14:6: ”I am the way…” Please show them the way. We need to help each other. That's why God has given us a position as older people, and He has given young people a special position as well. Today, let us run this race together!Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 8th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Job 28:28:”Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil, is understanding.” Then we go to the Gospel of John 17:17:”Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth.” The Bible is the truth. We don't have to reinvent anything else. Everything you need to know, everything you need to stand by, is found in the Holy Word of God, the Bible. We cannot and we may not change anything. We've got to keep it simple. When you're talking to your children, make it very simple and then they will understand what the truth means. If we look at John 18:38. Jesus was standing before Pontius Pilate when he was judging him, and Pontius Pilate asked Jesus a question, ”What is truth?” Folks, there are none so blind as those who cannot see or don't want to see. Isn't that a true saying? You see, Pontius Pilate was looking into the face of truth itself. He was looking into the face of God and he was asking a question, “What is truth?” I want to say to you today, we must keep it simple. The Gospel is not complicated. I remember somebody saying to me a long time ago, ”Educators complicate, communicators simplify.” Keep it simple. Keep to the Word of God. When somebody says to you, ”Show me the truth,” give them a Bible because that is truth. You know the great automobile manufacturer Henry Ford? They came to him once and said, ”We want to paint the Model T Ford a different colour” (because in those days, they were all black). Henry Ford said, ”You can paint it any colour you like, as long as it stays black.” Folks, you can say what you like as long as you do not misinterpret the Bible. For those preachers that are listening to this word this morning, you have a tremendous responsibility when you get onto the platform, into the pulpit. You deliver the word of God because you will be judged accordingly. Just tell them what Jesus means to you! Have a wonderful day, God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 7th October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 24:32: ”And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the scriptures to us?” Two men walking towards Emmaus, which is approximately 7 miles from Jerusalem, 15 kilometres, probably the same distance from the farm Shalom to our little town, Greytown. These two men were walking along, minding their own business, speaking to one another about what had happened in Jerusalem, when another man came and joined them. He asked them a question, ”What are you talking about?” They said, ”Well, haven't you heard what has happened?” “No, no. What has happened?” It was Jesus folks! It was Jesus and He walked with them and they just loved it. They said, ”Didn't our heart burn within us?”, because they persuaded Jesus to spend the night with them. He sat with them and when He had broken bread at the dinner table. “Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.”Luke 24:31You and I have to be Jesus to many broken, hurting, lonely, desperate people. We must decrease, like John the Baptist said and He must increase within us. I was at a prayer meeting the other night, and a young girl who has just joined our fellowship is a schoolteacher in town. She said to us that her mother was so happy that she was at our church on the farm. Her mother, many, many years ago, went through tremendous trials, and there were two old ladies on the farm, Shalom, who ministered to her and helped her tremendously through her problems. I was able to say to the young school teacher, ”I knew them very well. One was Aunty Peggy, and the other was Aunty Moira. They were my intercessors on the farm. They travelled with me wherever I went. While I was preaching, they would be praying.” Oh yes. This young lady's mother clearly saw Jesus in those two women, as I did too. I cannot wait to meet them in Heaven. Today, go out and be Jesus to those who are lost.Have a wonderful day! Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 6th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 8:59:”Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple,…” Folks, I want to speak to you today about contending with God. Do not fight with God. Contend means “put forward a view in an argument.”Many of us, I'm including myself, when things don't go well, we blame God. “Lord, where were You? Lord, You promised that You'd never leave me nor forsake me. Lord, why is this thing happening? Why am I faced with a divorce?” But if we are honest with ourselves, we know that we haven't been doing things according to what God, through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, has told us to do. Stop having an affair with that woman and I'm talking about having an affair on the internet. Yes! I'm talking about making those phone calls to that girl. She's not your wife, she'll never be your wife and your own wife finds out about it. Things go wrong and you say, ”God, why have You done this to me?” God hasn't done that to You, You've done it to yourself.Pay your income tax. Don't owe people money. “Well, I'm going down the tube now, I can't pay my debt.” But you shouldn't have bought that motor car, you know that because you didn't have enough money. We've got to stop blaming God when things don't go well in our own lives. To contend with God is as ludicrous as an ant trying to argue with a bull elephant. You're laughing, I'm not laughing. You know a bull elephant stands ten feet tall. It weighs up to ten tons. It lives to sixty years old. Don't contend with a bull elephant when you are a mere ant!You know that farmer, Job? Job 38:3-4. The Lord says to Job when he was complaining. Maybe like you and me: ”Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?” It's ridiculous. How can we even question God?I want to say to you today and it's a serious message, stop playing the fool. Start getting serious with the Lord, start obeying His commandments and your life will go a lot easier. Stop contending with God! You and I are not in a position to start thumping the table. I've heard people say to me, ”When I get to Heaven one day, there's a few questions I need to ask God.” Oh, my friend, you've got no idea about what you're talking about. When you get to Heaven, you will not say one word when you see the glory of God. You will just worship Him!Have a good day today and remember, don't contend with God,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 5th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Philippians 4:19, out of the Amplified Version: “And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need (I want you to remember that word) according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” The Lord has promised you today and He has promised me that He will supply every one of our needs, not our wants. What are your needs today? I can hear you sitting there, madam, and you are saying, “I don't have any food for my children to eat tonight,” or “I don't know how I am going to pay for a new uniform for my young child's school next year.” Or maybe, sir, you are saying, “I don't know how I am going to pay my accounts. I don't even have enough money for petrol for the motor car.” You are in need. Now, we are both in this together. I am in there with you. “Lord, we need to pay the rent otherwise they are going to chuck us out.”I want to encourage you with this: The Israelites, a whole nation, not a handful of people, over a million people in the desert, stranded, no food, and they are crying to Moses, “Why didn't you just leave us in Egypt where we could have died at least with dignity?” And what happened? God sent manna. The literal translation of the word, “manna” is, “what is it?” So when they woke up in the morning, it was like frost on top of the grass, on the leaves of the bushes. The Hebrew writers called it, “Angel's bread.” Isn't that beautiful? It has a delicious flavour, very nourishing, the Bible tells us, but the funny thing was, as soon as other food was available, it stopped. Yes, I am talking about a miracle. The experts say, there is no known food that resembles the description of manna. The famous poet, Asaf, called it “corn from Heaven.” Isn't that beautiful? It was of a very delicious flavour. If you look at Exodus 16:31: “and the house of Israel called it's name, Manna, And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.” In the Book of Numbers it talks about pastries. But you know something? Only enough for one day at a time. On Saturday before the Sabbath, they were allowed to collect for two days otherwise it went bad.Today, put your total trust in Jesus. If He can take care and feed a million people in the desert for forty years, every single day, He can take care of your needs and mine.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 4th of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 16:3: “And the children of Israel said to them, "Oh, that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger." Then we go to the Book of Job 38:4. “The Lord said to Job: "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?”Stop being ungrateful! We have very short memories, don't we, my dear friend? We forget where Jesus has brought us from. We are so quick to complain. The Israelites were slaves in Egypt but they forgot that very quickly when they were in the desert and they were hungry and thirsty. Of course the Lord supplied everything they needed, but they had short memories, forgetting where they had come from. You and I need to stop complaining and we need to start becoming more grateful for what we have. I think of William and Catherine Booth, the founders of the Salvation Army. They took care of the hungry and the poor and the homeless. William Booth's son was Bramwell Booth, that was his name. When he was about 16 years old, one night at maybe 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, William Booth took them to the poorest part of East London. He took his son into a pub, a drinking house. There were little children standing outside waiting for their parents, in rags. You can imagine the snow on the ground in the middle of winter. He took his son into the middle of this drinking house. There were people lying all over the place, drunk. The floor was full of rubbish where people had vomited. I am telling you the truth. It was like a pig sty! It was absolutely disgusting, and he said to his son, “Have a look around. What do you see? His son was so shocked at what he saw, the squalor, the poverty, the hunger, and then he said, “Bramwell, these are our people. We must help them.” And then they went out home. Bramwell Booth never forgot that sight as long as he lived. He was so grateful for what God had given to him and his family. You too, remember from where we have come, lest we start to complain about our situation at the moment. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 3rd of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Luke 23:50: “Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.” We are talking here about Joseph of Arimathea. He was one of Jesus' secret disciples. He was a member of the Sanhedrin yet he had the courage to go to Pontius Pilate and ask for the body of our beloved Saviour, and took the body down from the cross, you can read it yourself, and he wrapped it in linen. He laid it in his own personal tomb that had been hewn out of the rock, and where no-one had laid before, and he left Him there until the day of preparation.I want to say something to you today. There are many good and just men like Joseph of Arimathea in the Kingdom of God. It's just that you never hear about them. They work quietly, but they are the backbone of the church of Jesus Christ. Now, I want to tell you a little story. My mother only had one brother, his name was George. He was a Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy during the Second World War. They used to take food to Britain because Britain was completely surrounded by the sea, and the ships that they sailed in had no defence system to speak of. They were very slow, but they brought food from America and from all over the world. When the siren went and there was an announcement that there were German U-boats in the sea, and their objective was to sink these ships, the Chief Engineer went down into the engine room, which was below water level. He closed a big steel door, he stood by the door and he told the workers to stoke the boilers, coal-fired ships in those days, and they had to keep on stoking that fire to keep the ship running. If those men had abandoned their positions and run on top, the ship would have come to a standstill and would have been torpedoed to the bottom of the sea. He would stand there, sometimes armed with a revolver, and said, “The first man that is going to leave his post, I will shoot!” He had to do that, and they would continue to keep the ship going. There are many of those engineers in God's army. This ministry has been going for 47 years and I want to tell you, it is the Josephs of Arimathea's that have kept this ministry going, no one else, and we thank God for every single member, men and women, who are continually supporting the work of the Lord, unseen. But God, through Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit, sees everything.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 2nd of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 19:30: “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” It is finished! We have to finish our race, my dearest friends. I was on a radio programme and when I said, “We have to finish our race just like Jesus finished His race on the Cross of Calvary, she said, “But Uncle Angus, we are so tired. There are many of us that are so weary and tired.” I said, “My dear lady, I couldn't agree with you more. I too am tired but we have to finish.” I said, “The road that leads to hell and damnation is wide, it is smooth, it is easy to walk on, and there are many who are walking on that road, but the road that leads to eternal life, to Heaven, is very narrow, very steep and rocky and there are very few on that road. That is the road that you and I are on at the moment and we need to finish strong. So to be tired is quite understandable. I looked up an Olympic marathon runner from the 1984 Olympic Games, Gabriella Anderson-Schiess. She was running the marathon, she got dehydrated and she finished that race. She was wondering all over the track but she would not sit down because she said she knew if she sat down she would never get up again, and by law, none of the assistants could touch her. She had to finish herself, but the crowd went wild. It is not whether you finish first or second, it's whether you finish your race, and even as Gabriella finished her race, you and I need to do exactly the same. But the good news is, the Lord has not asked us to finish our race on our own.If we look at Philippians 1:6: “For we are confident of this very thing that He who has begun a good work in us shall perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.“Now, that is a promise that we can hang onto. The Lord never promised us that we had to do it on our own, but what He did say is that we need to finish the race.God bless you! Run your race. I am running with you!Bye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 1st of October, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 1 Corinthians 15:55: “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, (that's hell) where is your victory?” Then we go straight to Luke 23:43: ”And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.” Today, you will be with Me in heaven. O Death, where is your sting? I want to say to you, today I have no fear of dying, and I really mean that because even Paul said, “For me to live is Christ and to die is but gain.” You cannot frighten a Christian with heaven, can you? Death has lost it's sting. Remember the two criminals were hanging on the cross, either side of Jesus? The one was negative, ‘If you are the Son of God, why don't You save Yourself and us too?” But the other one said, “Why do you pick on this Man? He has done nothing wrong. Lord, please remember me in paradise.” He said, “Today you will be with me in heaven.”I want to really say to you today, if you are doubting, please do not doubt, because the word of God is accurate. A very dear family friend of ours, a nursing sister and a wonderful woman of God, her name is Daphne, and she told my wife, Jill and I, that she can go into a ward where there is somebody lying there dying and they are unbelievers. That ward is full of fear, of anger, of gnashing of teeth, of blasphemy as that person dies, going literally to hell, because they do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Way. She said then she can go into another ward where one of the children of God is starting to breathe their last, she said it is like a fragrance in that room. It is peaceful, it is full of love and that person has got a nice smile on their face and saying, “Soon and very soon, I am going to dine with the King of Glory.Where do you stand today? You might say, “Angus, is there any hope for me?” Oh yes, there is! “What do I have to do to have eternal life?” Simply the same thing as the one criminal did. “Lord, remember me when You get to heaven.” He acknowledged Jesus Christ as the King of Kings. Pray this prayer after me:Lord, Today I acknowledge You as the only true and living God,Amen.Have a wonderful day, Jesus bless you,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 30th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the word of God, 1 Corinthians 16:9:“For a great effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”The Lord never promised you or me a rose garden - no, no, not at all. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we must take the full package, and that sometimes involves a lot of adversity. "A great and effective door has been opened to you." Now that happened to me in 2009, here on the Shalom Farm for the first time in my life, I saw with my own eyes over 120,000 men gathered to worship God, not people, men!I will never forget, we had a rotary platform so that I could walk full circle and the men were seated all the way around the platform. It was an amazing event, a great and effective door, something I had been praying for, for many, many years - but with it came adversaries, hard times. I was severely challenged on the Saturday morning, I had preached my heart out, it was very warm and after I had finished the message, I went down the steps, underneath the platform. My older son was finishing up the praise and worship, I was praying for a group of 50 Australian farmers, and then I felt a bit light-headed. I walked out and I collapsed. I had a heart attack. They took me to the house. I never knew that at the time. I came around, they sat me in the garden. My dear wife, Jill, brought me a nice hot cup of sweet tea. I drank half the cup and I collapsed a second time, a second heart attack. With that, they called the helicopter 911, and they cut the fence open. I was lying there, I will never forget, I had an oxygen mask on me and I am saying, “Lord, what is happening?” The greatest moment in my life up to then, and I now can't even speak. They put me on a stretcher, put me in the helicopter and as the helicopter took off, the pilot just tilted the helicopter a little bit and I could see tens of thousands of hands raised into the sky and the men were praying for me. Well, the good news is that when I got to the helipad in Pietermaritzburg, a ten minutes flight but an hour's drive, the specialist was there to see me. He put me on a treadmill and then after I had been on the treadmill for a while, he took me off the treadmill. He said, “Mr Buchan, there is nothing wrong with you. You can go home.” The next morning, I was preaching my heart out again. Oh look, I had to stop and sit down a few times. I felt like I had been hit by a Mack truck but I fully recovered. So today, open your heart for the Lord. He has got great and effective doors for you but be prepared for the fight, but remember greater is He who is within you and I than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 29th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 14:15: “And the Lord said to Moses,'”Why do you cry to me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.” There's no reverse gear in the kingdom of God, we are only going forward. There is no future in the past, we are not about to go backwards. Jesus Christ is coming back soon and we need to be going forward when He comes back. No more talking about it. No more double-guessing. Maybe I'm talking to someone today who is between a rock and a hard place. Oh, my dear friend, I know the feeling so well, by the way, so did Moses. Moses was looking at an ocean, the Red Sea before him, and behind him was the most powerful army in the world coming down upon him, and they were very bitter and angry. They had lost the oldest boy in each one of their families. They wanted revenge. What could they do? The people cried out to Moses, ”Why have you brought us here? It would have been easier if we'd remained in Egypt as slaves.” Maybe you're saying that today, ”I shouldn't have done this. I've got myself into a position now. If I'd just stayed the way I was before, I would have been alright.” That's not the truth and you know it, we've got to go forward! Now we've got to do it by two things: Number one, by faith, and number two, by obedience. You see, by faith Moses stretched out his arm with his staff, and the ocean parted, and they walked through it. What you need to do is hear clearly what it is God told you to do at the beginning, and then follow through. Go forward, and then do it by faith and obedience, and the Lord will do the rest.Hebrews 11:1: ”Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.” That is what we've got to do. We can't please God without faith, folks. He doesn't want our good works. He wants us simply to obey Him. Verse 6 says: ”But without faith it, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”That's why the Lord loved Peter so much. There were twelve disciples in the boat. Jesus came walking on the water and Peter said, ”Lord, call me and I'll come.” The Lord said, “Come!” He stepped out of the boat and he walked on top of the lake of Galilee. Folks, there's no man in the world that has ever walked on water. Peter did, through faith and obedience. Yes, he started sinking but the Lord was there to pick him out.Today, look to the Lord and go forward. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 28th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 23:34: “Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” The power of forgiveness! When the Lord Jesus, our beloved Saviour, said that statement, He was hanging on a cross. There were crude spikes nailed through His hands and through His feet. He was suffering, He had a crown of thorns rammed onto His head and the blood was flowing, and yet through it all, He could say, “Forgive them because they do not know what they are doing.”Forgiveness is a very powerful weapon. It is used in order to be set free. It's a massive paradox. Although the Saviour of the world was nailed to the cross, yet He was totally free. You see, when you forgive someone then you receive freedom, you receive life abundantly. It is very liberating.I want to tell you a story about one of my dearest friends. He is now in his mid-eighties. He came to see me a week ago, all the way from England with his beloved wife. This man is stone blind. He cannot see anything. He wears hearing aids because he can't hear too well, he has had two hip replacements, but I have never seen a man so happy, so content with life before. Folks, do you know what happened? When he was a very young man in his early twenties, he went to Uganda. He went there to help the poor and he spent everything he had when he was over there. His father was a very wealthy farmer and he said to him, ”If you don't come back to England I am going to sell the farm.” But while he was in Uganda, he contracted malaria and when he came back to Britain they gave him the wrong dosage of medicine and it made him blind. But I want to tell you, they said, “You can sue the hospital for millions of British pounds.” Do you know what his response was? “No, I forgive them because it was only a mistake. It was never intentional.” That is a giant of the faith. You see, when you don't forgive, then you have hatred in your heart, revenge, jealousy, but when you forgive, then you have liberty and freedom. Today, forgive that person who has done that thing to you.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name!It is Saturday morning, the 27th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 14:13-14: “And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” What a scripture! The important part for me of that scripture this morning is, “Stand still.” Stand still and see what Jesus is going to do for you. I don't know what situation you are in today, my dear friend. Maybe you've got a situation in the family where someone is very sick. The Lord says, ”Stand still (after you've prayed) and see what the Lord will do.” Do not panic and do not make a plan. I've tried many of them. None of them have worked for me. Stand still and see what the Lord will do! You know that old saying, caught between a rock and a hard place? That's exactly where Moses and the Israelites were. They had the mighty ocean, the Red Sea in front of them, and they had the mightiest army in the world chasing them from behind because they had just lost the firstborn child in each one of their families. They wanted revenge, and this nation of Israel had no weapons of defence. All they could do was listen to Moses. He said, ”Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.” I want to say to you today, stand still. I don't know how many times in my own life, I've come to the end and I've said, ”Lord, I can't do anymore.” He said, ”Stand still and see.” You know my story. You know that fire that was going out of control, heading towards the neighbours pine plantation. If it had got in there, we would have lost our farm because we were not insured and we never had anything like the money to pay for the damage.I prayed, I got on my knees and I stood still. There was nothing else I could do and the Lord changed the wind! The wind was coming from the north, fanning the fire. It turned, after those prayers and started coming from the south, and the fire went out because it started to rain. Stand still today. It might be a business deal, it might be a huge decision you have to make for your future. The Lord says, ”Do your best then stand still and wait and see what the Lord will do for you.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 26th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 27:32:”Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His cross.” Simon of Cyrene came from Africa. He was an African, just like me, but he wasn't born in Southern Africa, he was born in North Africa. He came from Libya. Simon of Cyrene, just minding his own business, just walking in the streets of Jerusalem and all of a sudden the Roman soldiers got hold of him and said, ”You will carry this man's cross to Golgotha.”I want to say to you today, we need to always be ready for whatever God allows to happen to us. What an honour to be able to carry the cross of the Son of God! Irrespective of whether Simon knew it at the time or not, is not the point. He was selected, and he was ready, and he did it. I was told as a young preacher, “Always have a sermon in your top pocket”. We need to be ready in season, and out of season. No good saying, “No, I can't do it now.” We have to be ready. We are living in perilous times.I want to tell you a light-hearted story. Many, many years ago, my wife and I were invited to a wedding. We got there late and we just sneaked in the back of the service, and we found two seats right in the back row and we sat there quietly minding our own business, we didn't want to disturb anything. All of a sudden one of the ushers spotted us, walked up to us and said, ”You need to come to the front, the groom and his party are expecting you.” They took us all the way down the aisle, right across the front row, and we were seated right next to the bridal family. I didn't know what to expect. The service was beautiful. They said their marriage vows, they were proclaimed man and wife and then the MC, the master of ceremonies said, ”We are now going to hear the message, the word of God. Can I please ask Angus Buchan to come to the front and to preach the sermon?” My wife looked at me as if I'd had something to do with it. I looked at her and I said, ”I've never heard of this.” Well, I was ready, always ready in season, but what a challenge! I had to get up, congratulate them and then preach my heart out for half an hour. Always be ready. Simon of Cyrene was ready to carry the cross of the King of Glory. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 25th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 21:9: “Then as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it and bread.”Faith has got feet, faith is a doing word, not a noun. A noun is a table or a chair. It can't move, it can't do anything, but faith is active. Don't tell people that you love them, show them that you love them. Now, the Master taught us very well. Remember, after He had been resurrected He was at a place called Peter's Landing on the Sea of Galilee. It's actually a big lake. It is 21 km long and 13 km wide, and very, very deep and full of fish. The disciples had been fishing all night. Now they were coming to land, and there was the Master, but He wasn't just standing there. He had already taken time to take flour to make bread, to catch fish, to prepare them on the fire, and He was waiting for them. That is what I love about our beloved Jesus. He is not just a talker, He is actually a doer. Now, what about you and I, today. Why don't we do something and especially for someone who can't repay us, then we know that our motive is pure. I want to say to the men, why don't you cook supper tonight? You say, “I don't cook!” Well you better learn. If Jesus can cook, you can cook too! Why don't you wash the dishes? Get up a bit earlier and do something for your family. Mow the grass! Now ladies, I am not letting you off the hook either. Why don't you sit down and watch that rugby match with your husband? “I don't like rugby.” No, he knows you don't like rugby and that is why I am saying, why don't you do it? Then he knows you are doing it because you love him and do it joyfully, and don't forget to shout for the correct team! But jokes aside, let's start to put our faith into practice, let's start doing what Jesus would have done. Let's start helping people physically, not just with a word of encouragement but following up by action.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 24th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 26:63-64:”Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God!” “ Jesus said to him,' It is as you said.” Then we go to Mark 14:61-62:”Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” Jesus said,” I am.” Then lastly, Luke 22:70: ”Then they all said,” Are You then, the Son of God?” So He said to them,” You rightly say that I am.” I think like never before, my dear friends, we need to be outspoken when it comes to the question, ”Who do you say that He is?”If you look at Matthew 1:23, Jesus is Immanuel, which translates to “God with us.” He is not, “the man upstairs”, He's not my mate, He's not one of many gods. He is the Way. There is no other way. The early Christians were not known as “Christians”. They were known as, “followers of the Way.”In John 14:6, Jesus says: ”I am the way…” He goes on to say, ”No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Now, that's a very controversial statement, but if you do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, you cannot be a Christian. We need to be very definite about that, and it could cost you a lot. It could cost you your job, it could cost you your popularity, it could cost you a position in a team, just by saying, ”I believe that Jesus Christ is God made flesh.” Folks, when you do say that, that is when the power of God is within you. I can tell you that for a fact. The more outspoken I get about the love of Christ, the more powerful He is within me.We are not here to criticise other faiths. We don't have time for that. We are here to speak about our beloved Jesus, who died for us. There is no other faith where their god, that they are following, has professed to be God Almighty, not one. They talk about the son of god. They talk about a disciple of god but Jesus says; “I am the Son of the living God.”Go out today and comfort people, and tell them that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour and He can be theirs as well. All they have to do is to acknowledge it. God bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 23rd of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Job 13:15: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Now that is ultimate trust, isn't it? Then we go to the Book of Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.” - not ashamed of the Gospel.Early on a Wednesday at 5 am, we meet. In the winter in South Africa, it is dark, and we have a group of men who come faithfully and pray every single week. When we were having a prayer meeting, a young man prayed and thanked God for giving him the courage to stand up for Jesus. He said, “I took my family out to a restaurant and we sat together in a large group of people.” He said, some of the people in that group, he wasn't sure whether they were Christians or not, so he was debating if they should just eat their food when it arrived or whether they should do what they always do at home, and that is to hold hands and thank the Lord for the food. Well, praise God, he was bold and he said very gently and very respectfully, “Can we give thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for our meal?” They all held hands and they prayed in that restaurant a beautiful, gentle, respectful prayer, and the people in that group were very pleased. We need to be outspoken. There comes a time when we cannot hold it in anymore. On the farm here at Shalom, we have a 30-foot cross to tell the world that we are Christians and we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. At night, it comes on with a time switch and it shines brightly, right through the night until the early morning when the sun comes up. Then the lights go out, but the cross remains. Very near to this farm, there is a tarmac airstrip where a lot of planes land. Many a time, a pilot has told me that on a stormy night when they were struggling to find the airstrip, they saw this cross shining on the hill, and it gave them their bearings, and I think it gave them a lot of strength and courage as well. You and I need to shine brightly in a world at the moment that is totally lost and has no direction.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 22nd of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 26:75: “So he went out and wept bitterly.” Oh, what a sad verse that is! The man that Jesus was grooming to take over the leading of the church promised the Master that he would stay with Him to the end and never let Him down. The Lord said, “Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times.” You and I need to be very, very careful before we make that statement or that decision. Young man, don't make idle promises. Don't promise that young lady that you will marry her and then, at the last moment, change your mind. It can destroy a woman. Young lady, don't lead on that man and make all kinds of promises only to leave him and marry someone else. When you make a decision with your partner to go into business, make sure you don't drop the ball. Yes, Jesus forgives, we know that, praise God. I know that maybe better than most of you, and if we repent and say sorry He forgives us, but the scar remains. That is a fact. If we go to the Book of Colossians 1:9, this is what Paul says: “For this reason, we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;…”We need to ask the Lord to give us direction before we make a commitment. My brother was a golf professional when he was a young man. He is actually a preacher today, and he couldn't get to church on a Sunday morning because that was his busiest day playing golf, but every now and again, if it was a rainy day or whatever, he would go to church with his family, and the minister, when he left the church would shake hands and say to him, “Oh, so good to see you. I am going to come and have a cup of tea with you one of these days”. And he never ever came, and that upset my brother a lot and disappointed him. Rather don't say it, than say like Peter said, “I will be with you till the end”, only to deny Him three times. Peter loved Jesus. That is why he was there. He didn't run away but when the crunch came he didn't come through with it. Don't do that today!Father God,I want to pray for my friend who is listening to this message right now, Lord, that they would think before they speak, Lord, that they would really think it over before they make a decision, and once they have made that decision, Lord, give them the courage to fulfil it.In Jesus name, amen.God bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 21st of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Proverbs 27:17:”As iron sharpens iron, So a friend sharpens a friend.” Then we go straight to the New Testament, to the Book of Hebrews 10:25: “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” It is so important for Christians to meet on a Sunday at church, if it is at all possible. Now I have got a little message from a dear man just the other day, saying he is so concerned. There are many churches in his area that, since the COVID-19 epidemic, have not started again. People are just not going to church. We need to go to church. The Lord is telling us that it's very important that we meet together, and I think the devil will try everything in his power to separate us because he knows what happens when two or three are gathered together in Jesus' name. Yes - there He is in the midst of them, iron sharpening iron! Do not neglect the gathering of the brethren.I am talking about a church on Sunday, and I'm talking about prayer groups. We need to meet in the church, outside the church, on sports days, on camping trips, we need to fellowship together, and that is what makes us sharp because we learn from each other, encourage each other and sometimes, if necessary, rebuke each other if a man or a woman is going off on a tangent. Jesus bless you as you continue to meet together,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 20th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 23:4: “So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.” Oh folks, Jesus is known as the Friend of sinners. Pontius Pilate was an unbeliever. He was not of the Jewish faith. In fact, he was a gentile, and yet he identified that Jesus Christ was an innocent man. When all the religious people were accusing Him and wanted to put Him to death, it took an unbeliever to speak up for Jesus! If we go to Matthew 11:19, Jesus said, “The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' ” I want to say to you today, be careful before you start throwing stones because you might have a very big surprise one day when you get to Heaven. Jesus came to heal the sick, not the healthy. He says, “A doctor heals sick people, not healthy people.” That is why He was always found with outcasts, tax collectors, prostitutes - those that society cast aside. I want to say to you and I am speaking from my heart today, I love people, irrespective of who they are, because Jesus loves them too, and I have had more response while I am doing a massive campaign from unbelievers than I do from the so-called, I said, “so-called” righteous. When a man realises what he has done and he needs a Saviour, he does a 180-degree turn around immediately. I have seen it with my own eyes. We need to understand one thing. God has put eternity in the heart of a man. Every man knows deep down in his heart what is right, what is wrong, even Pontius Pilate. Today, let us love people, never compromise our stand as Christians, but give people an opportunity to meet the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and He will save them.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 19th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Psalms 51:10-11: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.”Then we go to the Book of Exodus 8:15: “But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as the Lord had said.” This morning, I believe the Lord wants to speak to you and me about a hardened heart. It is such a sad thing to see, isn't it, somebody who has a hard heart? It makes that person angry, self-righteous, and makes them self-centred, causing them to lose out. Pharaoh lost out badly. The Lord gave him many opportunities to soften his heart but he did not. Eventually, it cost Pharaoh his whole nation. Do not harden your heart. I want to tell you a little story. When I was a young man and farming, I would come home for breakfast like most farmers do. We'd get up early in the morning, get the work started, everybody going, and then come in and have our breakfast. I would sit at the kitchen table in our little house and I could see out the door, and there was a little path that went up to the gate, and I would often see a salesman coming through the gate and I would observe his attitude. If he had a hardened heart, he would walk past our animals, our dogs and our cats, and push them out of the way with his foot. He wouldn't acknowledge our little children playing in the garden. Obviously, he had a lot of responsibilities and problems in his heart, but he got very little business from me. Then there would be a salesman who would come through the gate and he would see my dog and my cat. He would stop, put his briefcase down, and pat the dog. He didn't see that I was watching him, and then he would see one of my little children playing in the garden. He would go and greet them, get down on his knees, say, “What is your name, son?” Then he would say, “Where is your daddy?” “No, he is in the house.” Then he would walk into the house, and obviously, he got all of the business. Today, soften your heart. I know you have been through a lot of tests. People have let you down, people have hurt you, but Jesus hasn't. Don't be like Pharaoh and throw it all away because of your hardened heart. Today soften your heart and the Lord bless you immensely.God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 18th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Matthew 26:14-16:”Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said,” What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.” This morning the Lord has laid on my heart to share with us the word, ”Betrayal.” I don't think there's anything worse, is there? I looked up the Oxford dictionary to find out the meaning of this word. It says, “To be disloyal to someone, to be unfaithful, to breach trust. Deception, double-dealing, stab in the back, sell out, double cross.”I left my prayer room and I went through to the house, and my wife, Jill, was making the bed, and I said to Jill, out of the blue, ”What is the worst kind of betrayal do you think there is for a woman?” She looked at me, she said to me, ”Angus, unfaithfulness is the worst kind of betrayal,” she thinks for a woman, when a man is unfaithful to his wife. It must have really hurt the Lord Jesus Christ when the soldiers came into the garden and arrested Jesus but what was even worse was that Judas Iscariot said, ”I will tell you which one it is, out of the disciples, when I kiss Him.” He came and he kissed Jesus on the neck, the utmost betrayal. That's a very hard thing to come back from. Now you might be saying, ”But how can we counteract that? How can prevent that from happening?” Well, I want to tell you a couple of simple things that we employ here at Shalom Ministries. Number one is accountability. There are no lone rangers in the Kingdom of God. There are no one-man shows. We are a team. I have got five men that I am responsible to. I have asked them to mentor me, to guide me and to watch over me. I cannot make my own decisions. I can go to them and say, ”This is what I believe the Lord has said”, and they will pray about it and give me their counsel. It gives me a lot of peace in my heart. When you go out, young man, young lady, to go out and tell people about the Lord, you go out two by two. “Why?” You ask - because that's the way the Lord did it. He sent the disciples out two by two so the one could watch the other one's back. I want to say to young people, when you're dating, don't go out on your own, go out with a group of people. The devil is a liar and a thief. That's what he did to Judas Iscariot. Judas went on his own and betrayed the Lord. If you're in business, always have a double signature. Be prepared for someone else to stand up for you when you make a decision and ultimately ask yourself the question, "What would Jesus do?" and then do it.God bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 17th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 7:1: “So the Lord said to Moses: “See, I have made you as God to pharaoh,…” What a responsibility to be God's mouthpiece, but oh, friends, isn't that the case with you and me today? When we speak to people in a fallen world, people who see us as followers of Jesus, when we speak they perceive that the words you and I are speaking are from God. What a great responsibility we have! Then we go to the Book of John 8:10-11:”When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no-one but the woman , He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no-one condemned you?” She said, “No-one Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; Go and sin no more.” - The words of our beloved Saviour. Now, you and I need to speak the same way. We are not here to condemn people because people who live in glass houses don't throw stones, do they? That's a fact, but our counsel, our words, must be sweet because one day we might have to eat them, and that's not a joke, is it? I want to tell you a little story about a dental student from Central Africa. This happened a few years ago. He wrote me a heartbreaking letter to say, “Uncle Angus, I have been studying at university. I am in my final year but I can't take it anymore. It is too much for me, I am not getting through it. I am really wanting to give up. What should I do?” I wrote back to him. I said, “Young man, press on. The Bible tells you in Philippians 4:13, that you can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens you.” I never heard from him again for another six months and then I got a beautiful email written and it was the dental student. “Uncle Angus, I want to tell you that I took your advice (God's advice) and I pressed through and I passed my degree.” Signed Dr…, and he put his name there.Oh folks, this is an opportunity that you and I have to be God's mouthpiece. It is a very, very serious responsibility. You cannot condone sin. If there is a couple living together out of wedlock, tell them they must get married if they want a blessing on their marriage. Tell a young man not to get into debt. If you are borrowing more than you own, you're in debt. Don't do that. God doesn't want you to do that. Sometimes we are unpopular for that kind of advice, but we need to do it if we are going to be God's mouthpiece, for the sake of those who Jesus died for. God bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 16th of September, 2025 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Isaiah 40:8:“The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” Isn't that beautiful? Isn't that authority? Isn't that direction? In this troubled world we need direction. We need the comfort of authority. Then we confirm the Word in the New Testament in the Book of Mark 13:31: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.” The Lord puts His word above His name. There is nothing in the universe that is more powerful than the Word of God. You know what it says in John 1:1: ”In the beginning was the Word…” Jesus puts His word above everything else. You can bank on it. You can't bank on much else, can you? But the sad thing is that some theologians will tell us that the Word of God is just a book, a guideline on how to live life. So sad, but those same people have no authority in their lives, nothing. They have no vision, they have no definite opinion. When young people come and ask them a question, like for example, “Can we sleep together before we get married?” According to the Bible, we can't and if we do, we are fornicators, and (unrepentant) fornicators are not going to Heaven. We need direction like never before. It needs to be critical. You see, when we take the word of God literally as coming from the Lord, that brings law and order into the home. So when mom and dad are having an argument about something, and we all do, don't we? Go to the word. What does the Bible say about the issue? And you stand on that. It is not about opinions, it is about the Bible. The Bible gives us moral principles. The Bible tells us what we can do and what we can't do. Now, we are not talking about being bound by the law. If anybody knows about the freedom of grace, it is me. Undeserved loving kindness, unmerited favour - that is what grace is, but we need the word of God for our security, our comfort. You will never see me in a photo without my Bible. It is Jesus in print! How many times have I told you, when somebody asks you, “Where is this Jesus you are always talking about?” Give them a Bible. Oh folks, people love the word. It brings security. So, today spend time reading your Bible and that will give you direction for your future. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning, the 15th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 21:28. Jesus says:”Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”Then we go to Revelation 1:7:”Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.”This morning, the Lord says to you and me, “Lift up your heads because I am coming back and I'm coming back very soon.” The signs are all around us, folks. How much more terrible must it become on this earth before the Lord returns? He has promised us He's coming. He goes on to say in verse 29. He says: ”Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near.” In South Africa, summer is near. Outside the window of my little prayer room, I have a beautiful fig tree that my young daughter gave me a couple of years ago as a gift. We have planted it. I want to tell you, it is budding. What is it telling me? It's telling me that summer is coming. Now the Lord says, when you see all these terrible things happening on the earth, be prepared for My second coming because these are the signs that I'm coming back for my people. All those young mothers will tell you that when they are pregnant for the first time and dad is so excited and waiting for their first baby to be born, they have everything ready. Everything is in place. They've got the room prepared. They've got the cot, the special blankets, the special colours. I don't know whether it's blue or pink, it doesn't matter, but I want to tell you one thing, when that baby says, ”I'm coming”, you'd better be ready because that baby is coming irrespective of what you say. That is how it is with the Lord. He's coming in the clouds. We must be ready. Prepare yourselves, prepare your hearts, prepare your children, prepare your family, prepare your friends. Tell them, Jesus is on His way.God bless you and have a wonderful day as you lift up your heads and wait because He's coming in the clouds, and we can't wait for that day!Have a lovely day, Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 14th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Malachi 3:8: ”Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me! But you say,' In what way have we robbed you?' In tithes and offerings.” Then we go down to verse 10,”Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house…” (The Lord says),”… and try me now in this if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” We're talking about a tithe. A tithe is ten percent of your income. It's a serious one and it's a very sensitive one, and I'm just going to share my heart with you. It is not money that you have to even think about. It belongs to God. The first ten percent is His. I'm not talking about tithing on money that you've borrowed. That's not your money. I'm talking about money that belongs to you, and then after the tithe comes the gifts and the offerings. Robert Le Tourneau, the man who started those big yellow machines, was one of the wealthiest men in the world. He loved God with a passion. He used to tithe ninety per cent of his income and keep ten per cent, and he was a multi-millionaire, and he supported Christian missions all over the world. He used to say, ”When you go to church and you put your hand in your pocket when the offering plate comes around, don't ask yourself the question, ”How much of my money am I going to give to the Lord today?” Ask yourself, ”How much of the Lord's money am I going to keep to myself today?”The mindset for that man was, it all belongs to Him anyway, and God prospered him because he was generous. Now, I can hear someone saying to me, ”But I don't go to church. I live in the bush. There's no churches anywhere near me. Where do I send my tithe?” You send your tithe to the storehouse where you get your bread, where you get your food from the Lord. That's where you send your tithe so that the Lord can use it to expand the work He's given us to do.The Lord also likes a cheerful giver. He doesn't want you to tithe if you hate doing that or if you don't like giving money to the Lord's work. Don't do that, He doesn't like that at all. You must do it willingly and joyfully and God who has told us here. He says, “Will not I open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it?” That's what we do.Jesus bless you as you pray about this because it's between you and God, no one else.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 13th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 1 Corinthians 9:27:”But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.” I want to say to you, my dear friend, today, and this applies to me equally, as believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we have to live disciplined lives. Undeserved loving kindness, unmerited favour, that's what grace is. We have been saved by grace through faith and that not of ourselves, for it was a gift from God. (Ephesians 2:8) but the Lord requires us to be good examples. Do not drop the ball, so to speak, by being a poor example to other believers and leading them astray. The other night, I was watching an interview on television for an upcoming international rugby match, a really important one between the All Blacks of New Zealand and the Springboks of South Africa. It was a very serious and intense discussion by rugby experts, and it was a panel of New Zealanders. The one interviewer asked one of the great All Black players, ”What is it that you think the team needs to concentrate on, when the Springboks come across to New Zealand because it's going to be a very critical match?” I was quite interested to hear what this man said. He said one word, ”Discipline.” He said,“We've got the players, the talent, but if we do not discipline ourselves we can lose the match.” Because when you get a yellow card, the player has to go off the field for ten minutes, and if you get two players off the field, you are now down from fifteen to thirteen players and the opposition has a distinct advantage and you can lose the match just by the lack of discipline.I want to say to you today as believers, we need to watch how we are living because we can give the opposition, I'm talking about the devil, a chance to get the upper hand in our lives. We need to get up in the morning. We need to eat correctly. We need to exercise. We need to spend time in the Word. We need to pray. This is Paul speaking when he says, ”I discipline my body and bring it into subjection.” It means it must come into submission, so that you become a good example of what a Christian should be like.Today, let's go out and discipline ourselves, and we will enjoy life a lot more as well.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 12th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 20:38. Jesus says, “For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.” You and I do not worship a god made of stone or wood, which is carved by human hands. Oh no! He is alive, He is well and He wants to talk with you and me today. I have been to Israel many, many times. I love that place. I always go to the Old City and I go to the tomb to see where the Lord Jesus Christ was buried, and I want to tell you, my dear friend, there is nothing in that tomb. It is empty! “Why?” you might say. Because Jesus rose from the dead. He is not there. Even when Mary Magdalene went down early in the morning, to find the body of Christ, He was not there. He was alive, He was risen, and He is well, and He wants to talk with you and me even today. You can go to David's tomb, also in the Old City, and his remains are there, that's right, his bones are still there, but Jesus is not dead, He is alive. I see Him so often as a farmer. I see Him in the early morning sunrise as the sun comes over. I see Him in the evening, in the sunset when the sun is starting to set. I can see Him in the face of a newly born baby. I can smell the Lord when there has been rain after a period of dryness. You can smell that perfume. He is alive, He is your God, He is my God and the good news is, He is coming back very soon to take you and me to be with Him in His house forever. So today, worship the Lord, praise His name, speak with Him because He wants to have fellowship with you, and open your spiritual eyes and you will see Him all over the place.Jesus bless you and have a great day,God bless,Bye.

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 11th of September, 2025, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 81:10. The Lord says, “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Then we go to Jeremiah 1:6: “Then I said “Ah, Lord God! Behold I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”God equips the men and women that He calls to do His work for Him. I don't often give a Thought For Today a title, but today I believe the Lord wants me to do that, and we would call this particular Thought For Today, “Speak Up”. Like never before, we need to, as believers, speak up. We need to tell people about Jesus Christ. That's exactly what happened with Moses. The Lord told Moses to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let His people go. He said, “But I can't speak. I am not a man of eloquent speech.” He had a stutter; he couldn't speak properly, but the Lord said that He would give him the ability to speak and what a statesman he became! Many people say the greatest statesman that has ever walked on the earth was Moses, greater than any president of any country, because he opened his mouth and God filled it.The key for you and me is found in John 15:7, which says:”If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” It's God's words in our mouths that will do the job. We are only a conduit pipe. That's all we are, and the Lord uses us and speaks through us.Robert Murray McShane, that wonderful Scottish preacher. A young man who died at the age of about 29 years old. He said, ”Rather than have been an instrument of the Lord, all I was, was an adoring spectator.” I can tell you and confirm that. Many a time I've stood on the platform and looked out at a massive crowd of tens of thousands of people and I felt myself standing next to myself, if that makes any sense, and God speaking through me. The first sermon I ever preached in my life was in the main street of Greytown. I had prepared that message for about six weeks. I stood up there for the first time in my life. The minister was standing next to me. He said, ”Don't worry, Angus, if you can't finish it off, I'll do it for you.” But he didn't have to. I opened my Bible, page one, said good morning to everybody, and I turned over page one and there was nothing there! I had left the notes somewhere. I had lost them and I had page fifteen (which was the benediction). That was the day that the Lord said, ”Are you going to do this by faith or not?” Well, I said, ”Yes Lord, by faith.” And the rest is history. Today, remember if God has called you, He will equip you.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day, Goodbye.
