It's a packed truncated Sports Weekend with Steve Thomson featuring Lindsey Brown. To kick off the hour, Steve and Lindsey discuss the Chicago Bears stadium saga and the news that they're moving to Indiana. Then, Heather Rule stops by to catch us up on the ongoing PWHL expansion process as the league grows to 12 teams. Finally, Steve Carney with a quick check in from the lake. He says the heat has really impacted the fish. He says the lake are as low as he's seen and that we need rain. He says things are escalating too quickly and that nature demands gradual changes to sustain expected conditions.
You have been called to make an eternal impact. As we walk through this series together, may you boldly share hope with one person and intentionally guide another toward a deeper and stronger walk with God.

This week, we're joined by Carey Bringle, the pit master and whisky maker for Peg Leg Porker. Carey owns a barbecue restaurant by the same name in Nashville, Tennessee, and says there's a lot in common between being a pit master and a whisky maker — but he'll never call himself a master distiller. Bringle has just released a "Spirit of America" Tennessee Bourbon to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, and we'll have tasting notes for it, too. In the news, the American Distilling Institute has announced the winners of its 2026 spirits competition, with Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Rye taking home the title of "America's Best Whiskey."

Stevie K Carmody--our Minister of Religious Education--to explore a core aspect of how Unitarian Universalists navigate the big stuff of community: covenant. Offering and Giving First The Giving First program donates 50% of the non-pledge offering each month to a charitable organization that we feel is consistent with Unitarian Universalist principles. The program began in November 2009, and First Parish has donated over $200,000 to more than 70 organizations. For May 2026, The First Pioneer Valley Dream Center will share half the offering collected during Sunday worship at First Parish. The First Pioneer Valley Dream Center, based in Springfield, MA, provides essential services like food and clothing at no cost to struggling families and individuals from all walks of life. Living their call to love and serve God and others, their goal is to inspire hope and empower lives. One of their services is to provide purpose-driven volunteer work to the residents of the local correctional facility where one of our First Parish members was housed recently. This member nominated the organization in recognition of their excellent work and in gratitude for the care and support they offered her during her service at the Dream Center. In this episode, Jenn delves into the concept of faith, exploring what it means to have faith in God and how it's demonstrated in the lives of biblical figures like Abel, Enoch, and Abraham: The definition of faith - the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. The lives of these biblical characters, who, through their faith, experienced incredible outcomes, such as Abel's continued influence despite his death and Enoch's rapture into heaven. The importance of obedience in conjunction with faith Faith is not just about believing in God, but also about trusting in His promises and obeying His commands. Many people claim to have faith, but lack obedience, just like the demons who believe in God but don't have a true faith. We're encouraged to reflect on our own lives and consider how we can be more obedient to God's will. If you're interested in learning more about the connection between faith and obedience, and how it's demonstrated in the lives of biblical figures, tune in to this episode to hear the speaker's insightful discussion. Send us Fan MailIn this Mother's Day sermon, Pastor Dan Minor continues the conversation around the 99 and the one, asking what love looks like when it refuses to stay comfortable. With humor, honesty, and a deeply pastoral challenge, this message reframes community as something active: noticing who is missing, moving toward pain, refusing disconnection, and becoming the kind of people who go with Jesus to the margins.Because when Jesus goes searching, love does not just make room. Send us Fan MailWhat if the story of the 99 and the one isn't just about a lost sheep coming home, but about whether the 99 have become the kind of community anyone would want to return to?In this sermon, Pastor Dan Minor reimagines repentance not as shame, humiliation, or moral failure, but as metanoia, a change of mind, a reorientation toward belonging, joy, and love. This message challenges the church to ask harder questions: Who has been pushed to the margins? Who left because they felt unsafe? Some pit God's law against love as if they oppose one another. But the law of God is not against love, in fact without God's law we would not know how to love rightly. The commandments of God reveal how we are to love God and others. Understanding the relationship between God's law and love protects us from many of the popular false teachings today and equips us to love as God commands us to.

Get in touch with Home Trails here ⬅️In this episode I speak to Kitty-Leigh Oxley about the Community Traverse! In the wake of the collapse of Ourea Events, Kitty decided that all that training and money spent getting to the start line of The Northern Traverse couldn't go to waste! Surely there were others in the same situation? The seed of an ideas was born and now we have the Community Traverse!Support for this event has grown rapidly since its inception and continues to grow. What started as an idea to just do the coast to coast route anyway, has now turned into a full time project for Kitty. In this episode we discuss the logistics of gathering together a group of runners, volunteers and various supporting organisations to make this idea reality. The theme that ran through the whole of this discussion was one of hope and community spirit. The fact that this can come together so quickly really highlights that the British trail running community is as string as ever and despite divisive events happening in our sport, we can come together to make good things happen! If you want to run with the CT then below are the details on how they're logistically making it work. if you want to volunteer your time or resources to help them DM the Community Traverse on instagram.Re: support options as they stand. Each CP will vary slightly depending on the facilities we have access to. At the moment we're working on securing better locations in Kirkby Stephen & Richmond. As a minimum, CPs will have gala tents, camping chairs and a gas hob. There will be plenty of tea, sandwiches, snacks, treats, and gels. There will be hot food options wherever possible. Exact locations for support points will be shared very soon and a GPX file for our route will also include all our support locations.HT@ultrarunning_sam@hometrails_http://www.youtube.com/@ultrarunningsam

A new mishnah! A handful of one grain-offering that is mixed with another handful of grain... according to the rabbis' view, the mingling does not invalidate the sacrifice. Burning it on the altar is fine. But Rabbi Yehudah notes that select grain-offerings would not be valid in these circumstances. The Gemara then delves into parsing Rabbi Yehudah's position here, with comparison to the animal sacrifices of Zevahim. Plus, the question of when and whether substances can be nullified in the mixture of something of its same kind or something that much more different from the original. Note - these laws of mixtures are relevant to all areas of Halakhah, not just the sacrificial realm... except that the "no nullification" rule IS specific to the sacrificial realm. Or at least, when it's items of the same substance and also being offered on the altar. But the case is determined to be difficult.

This week on Dopey! Dave talks to Jason Williamson of Sleaford Mods about growing up in grim small-town England, discovering punk and mod culture, and using booze, speed, ecstasy and finally cocaine to numb himself through factory jobs, failed bands and a brutal home life. Jason breaks down how club and rave culture in the '90s felt like utopia, how Sleaford Mods was born from a eureka moment shouting over a looped metal sample, and how his addiction eventually narrowed into solitary marathons of cocaine and online porn in hotel rooms and crack houses. He opens up about childhood trauma, not being seen or taught how to love, his wife taking the kids and walking out, and the moment he poured out a beer and stopped everything—booze, coke, weed, cigarettes—on the same day. They talk therapy, complex trauma, breaking the family cycle, and finish with a ridiculous music nerd “this or that” game. All that and MORE on this weeks NEW Wednesday Dose of Dopey! On today's Good Day Health Show - ON DEMAND…Dr. Jack Stockwell, a NUCCA Chiropractor and GAPS Practitioner in SLC, UT (866.867.5070 | ForbiddenDoctor.com | JackStockwell.com), covers the the biggest news in the health and wellness space from a holistic, naturopath perspective. In this episode, Dr. Jack starts with a discussion on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s not-so-recent address that he will pull certain funding from medical schools unless they begin teaching nutrition as a foundation for patient health. Dr. Jack recounts his time in medical school, and one orthopedic surgeon he studied under and why that man was inspiring to him; especially because the topic of nutrition was always addressed. Then, Dr. Jack discusses different food combinations that may lead to problems or alleviate problems. For instance, starches and proteins don't go together. That's meat and potatoes. That's meat and breads (yes, that's sandwiches). Vegetables go with everything, except fruit, and fruit should always be eaten alone. This habit is from where indigestion, heartburn, even diabetes can be coming. Dr. Jack also suggests what supplements/enzymes you can eat to not tax the liver from consuming improperly combined foods. Website: GoodDayHealthrShow.com Social Media: @GoodDayNetworks

Send us a textIn the 4th century AD, two Christian friends - Basil and Gregory - travelled from Cappadocia to Athens to go study Greek literature with Libanius, the leading rhetorician of the time. While there, these two young and wealthy Cappadocians befriended a fellow student named Julian, the nephew of the Emperor Constantine. There in Athens, the three young Christians mastered Greek philosophy and rhetoric at Libanius' feet. Later on, Basil went on to become the bishop of Caesarea, one of the architects of orthodoxy's victory over the Arian heresy, and was later named a "Doctor of the Church." His friend Gregory of Nazianzus rose to become one of the foremost preachers and theologians in church history. And their friend Julian became Emperor - and having repudiated the Christian faith, attempted to turn the newly Christian Roman Empire pagan again. Clearly, as the example of Julian the Apostate shows, pagan mythology and literature pose a danger to Christian faith. But can pagan learning serve Christian faith as well? Jonathan and Ryan are joined, once again, by the Rev. Calvin Goligher to discuss St. Basil of Caesarea's "Address to Young Men on the Right Use of Greek Literature," in which he answers heartily in the affirmative, and explains how to use Greek poetry, philosophy, and history for the edification of young Christian students. What does it mean to play sports for the glory of God? How do you keep someone from tying their identity to their success in sports? And why do parents sometimes have a greater interest in their child's success in sports than the child himself/herself? We'll answer these questions and more with our guest, our Talbot colleague in theology, Dr. Erik Thoennes. Erik Thoennes is committed to teaching theology so that he and his students love God and people more fully. He strives to make the necessary connections between the study of theology, obedience to Jesus and fulfilling the Great Commission. He has been teaching college students for over 30 years and has been a pastor at Grace Evangelical Free Church La Mirada since 2001. Erik is a frequent guest speaker at churches, conferences and retreats. He received the University award for faculty excellence and professor of the year twice.
