With pepper beers, food provides a lot of inspiration. For today's beer from OB Brewery it was the want to make the perfect "taco beer" and they did it in a very sneaky way. Mixing both raw and roasted jalapenos in a traditional Belgian Saison base beer makes this a sneaky beer with a lot of flavor! Of course we had to pair it with the huge flavor of O'Brien's Ahi Nachos.

It's been a long time coming, but we finally got Kitchener Waterloo's Block Three on the pod! Co-Founder Graham Spence and Head Brewer Kevin Freer joined Cee and Nathan for a super fun chat about their approach to beer and obsession with crispyboiz, Graham's pilgrimage to the Czech Republic via the government program, why their flagship beer is a Belgian Saison, their disdain for their uber popular dark beers, and why beer festivals aren't the greatest marketing opportunities. They got into four killer beers - King Street Belgian Saison, Hollinger Helles German Lager, Jaromir Czech Pilsner, and 1 Up NEIPA. This was a great one - cheers! Cheers,Scott and JakeBourbon Lens About Westland Distillery: Founded in 2010 and acquired by Remy-Cointreau in 2017, Seattle's Westland Distillery brings a new and uniquely American voice to the world of single malt whiskey by exploring possibilities that have been ignored for generations. Along the way, Westland has been recognized as the country's leading producer of American Single Malt Whiskey and founded the formal establishment of the emerging American Single Malt Whiskey category by starting the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission. While the distillery uses the same basic ingredients and processes used for centuries by traditional Old World single malt producers, it doesn't simply seek to replicate the results of its Scottish predecessors. Instead, Westland works to create whiskies that reflect the distinct qualities of its time, place and culture in the Pacific Northwest. All of Westland's expressions are distilled at the Seattle distillery from 100% malted barley and fermented with a unique Belgian Saison brewer's yeast before maturing in one of a variety of cask types, including new American oak, ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry, and Garry Oak, to name a few.   Coverage and Praise for Westland Distillery: Episode 63: Westland American Single Malt Whiskey - Bourbon Lens Westland Distillery  American Single Malt May Soon Be an Official Designation | Wine Enthusiast Westland Distillery Celebrates 8th Annual Peat Week - Bourbon Lens  What an Official American Single Malt Category Means for the Future of Whiskey in the U.S. | VinePair TTB announces proposed American Single Malt standards Follow Matt Hofmann (@matthewhofmann) on Instagram American Single Malt Whiskey Commission

Ed McGrath from Ace Cider and Adam Ray, founder of Beer City are both guests on Brew Ha Ha with Harry Duke and Herlinda Heras. We have had Ed McGrath on Brew Ha Ha most recently on this July 2020 episode. Brew's News with Herlinda is sponsored by the Beer City Festival, which was going to be in Calistoga in November this year but instead will be held Easter weekend, April 16th, 2023. Also, Santa Rosa will have a Beer City festival on February 25th, 2023, downtown in Old Courthouse Square. They begin the show by christening the new KSRO studio with an heirloom cider. It's a dry cider that tastes a bit different every year. It is 9% ABV, Herlinda calls it "sneaky." Gravensteins! This is an heirloom cider made from local Gravenstein apples. The French ciders have less alcohol and uses more traditional cider apples. During Prohibition all the American cider apples were chopped down because they're not for eating. Today there is a west coast style cider, called Blackjack, made from west coast apples. There are also distinctive ciders coming from New York and Michigan. Ace Cider founder Jeffery House has been a guest on Brew Ha Ha before. Visit our sponsor Victory House online for their latest viewing and menu options. They have another cider called Ace High, a card playing reference. It is semi dry and has subtle fruit flavors. Ace doesn't add food coloring or sugars so the colors are all natural. Blueberry doesn't give color, so the other berries do. Beer City is less than a year old. Adam Ray tells about how the idea started in Santa Rosa, about how to create an attraction. Ed McGrath is happy to have introduced cider to more people than anybody. Cider is gluten free, since there is no grain. Russian River Brewing Co. is open in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Visit their website for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more info. Cider for Thanksgiving Cider is the perfect pairing for a lot of Thanksgiving foods; not the sugary non-alcoholic kind, but the real fermented cider. Ace has also made a seasonal pumpkin cider (although the pumpkin is nearly flavorless and what we are actually tasting in all of these things is the spices, not the pumpkin). Hendrick Verspecht Brew Ha Ha gets a visit from Hendrick Verspecht from cuVer Brewing. He has been on Brew Ha Ha before. Today he brought some beer to the studio. He brought their three Belgians. Pepperwood Saison, a Belgian Saison with meyer lemon peel and bay leaf, and two types of Belgian abbey ales, a golden one and a dark one.

FlyteCo Brewing is cleared for takeoff Denver's FlyteCo Brewing opened their first location in 2019.  Although Colorado has no shortage of breweries, owners Morgan O'Sullivan and Jason Slingsby knows there's always room for more great places to grab a beer.  Their second location will open soon, in a decommissioned air control tower.  O'Sullivan and Slingsby want visitors to see FlyteCo as their own Cheers.  Where the bartenders know your name and have a beer ready for you when you walk in.  Norrrrm!  If getting to know people isn't your thing then maybe your and your beer can spend some quality time at the on-site mini golf or bowling. If the air traffic control tower didn't give it away, the brewery has an aviation theme.  Two of the three owners are pilots.  In addition to drop-in fishing trips (I'm so jealous) they've even flown to Western Colorado to pick up hops fresh from the farm and back to the brewery to get them in a beer in a little over an hour.  How's that for freshness? The guys knew the way to our hearts and sent us a sample of their Tipsy Nipper, a stellar Belgian Saison.  We sample Heading 270 West Coast IPA and Ski Plane Stout as well.  We reminisced on the old days of 2014 when saisons were cool and praise the versatility of the style while pondering if getting crazy with them might make them cool again.  We even come up with a collab, look for Milky Disco DDH LactoGlitter Saison coming soon.
