A conversation with Ben Parks, the founder and "sound wrangler" of American Cowboy Radio and a former locomotive engineer for BNSF Railway. American Cowboy Radio streams worldwide from West Texas, with the goal of preserving and promoting what Parks calls "the authentic American cowboy way of life." Prior to this career and his locomotive career, Parks spent part of two decades managing the legendary Amarillo restaurant Char-Kel. He shares with host Jason Boyett about Char-Kel's heyday, why the business ended in the 1990s, how his cowboy radio idea developed and why Amarillo remains his home base. This episode is supported by PestTex Pest Control, Wolflin Square, and Panhandle Plains Historical Museum.

Farm-to-Fork is a loosely affiliated restaurant movement that champions close relationships with local farmers instead of nationwide distributors. Wherever you live, there are likely restaurants nearby that practice this philosophy. Farm-to-Fork is part of a groundswell of popular support away from processed food and towards wholesome eating. I interviewed Ben Parks, the chef/owner of a farm to fork restaurant in Columbia, MO. He talks about the movement, the struggles, and the future of good food. Special Guest: Ben Parks.
So, we've come to the end of this Ben Parks adventure (a sidekick's journey, if you will). But a journey into . . . what? Then I talk about Western movies, and how they're similar to my favorite genres of Horror and Sci-Fi. ARE they similar? To download the episode directly, Right-Click HERE.To support me on Patreon, go on over to THIS LINK. Among the crickets, I continue to present my Western story "A Sidekick's Journey." Ben Parks rides into danger with Lorelei Skruggs! In my opinion, this segment is the most significant portion of the story, and if I were a real writer, I'd address it considerably in the next book. Sorry about the delay on this, but I finally got around to seeing the final episode of "Downton Abbey" this week. As you can imagine, it made me question all of my life choices. This is the second installment of my 2015 book "A Sidekick's Journey," the sequel to 2005's "Birth of a Sidekick," Outcast episodes 14-17. Continuing the story, Ben Parks meets Lorelei Skruggs, an associate of the late Lean Rider, and quite an adventurer in her own right. Perhaps together they can pick up the hero's mantle where he left it.If you wanna download the episode directly, Right-Click HERE.Cover logo by Gino "The Pantsless Assassin" Moretto. If you wanna support Rish on Patreon, you can go HERE.If you wanna buy "A Sidekick's Journey," you can go HEREIf you wanna buy "Birth of a Sidekick," you can go HERE.If you wanna really upset Rish, you can go HERE.
Rish presents the first installment of his 2015 book "A Sidekick's Journey," which is a sequel to 2005's "Birth of a Sidekick." Ben Parks does his best to survive in 1890's Arizona without the Lean Rider by his side. This will go for multiple episodes (either four or five), and I hope people enjoy them. So, here's the rest of that Western/Horror tale with the funny name* This one's different from the Ben Parks stories, although they both take place in the American West, at the end of the nineteenth century, and focus on a pre-teen boy.Whoops, guess they're actually pretty close.Downloading the episode directly? This week, the boys welcome actor and brand new father Ben Parks (Funny Or Die, Fat Guys in the Woods) to the show to talk all about the 1998 WCW storylines featuring NBA superstars Karl Malone and Dennis Rodman, including their rather disappointing multi-man match at Bash at the Beach 98. Also, discussions about pro athletes in wrestling, crossover appeal, Hulk Hogan, DDP, David Arquette and much more. Then, the boys finally confront Ben face-to-face about the box of Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Roasts“Au Fudge Chaud” coffee that he gifted the show months ago, all while the aroma of the terrible murky brown water haunts Stephen’s apartment. Plus, Stephen reveals his confounding lack of knowledge of the Sadie Hawkin’s dance, which completely stuns Nick. The fans asked for him, and YSLW has delivered! In this week’s episode, the boys are happy to welcome comedian Tom Sibley (We Watch Wrestling, Comedy Central’s “Comics To Watch”) to the show to talk all about the highly praised main event from Wrestle Kingdom 11 between Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, a match that Dave Meltzer rated 6 out of 5 stars. Also, Tom also talks about PWG, WWW live shows, Matt Riddle and not wearing shoes. Then, resident skeptic Stephen gives his thoughts on the length of the match and entrances, overall presentation, Jim Ross’s AXS TV commentary and that bonkers table spot. Plus, Joey tells a pretentious story about backpacking through Vatican City to see the Pope while Nick drinks a murky cup of of Guy Fieri’s “Au Fudge Chaud” coffee from the Flavortown Roasts collection (a gift provided by friend of the show Ben Parks!) #ButtholeWinks For full show notes, including links to watch matches, go to BoardwalkAudio.com/YouShouldLoveWrestling Follow us on Twitter @YSLWpodcast Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/YouShouldLoveWrestling/ Email us at YouShouldLoveWrestling@Gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
