Elises anbefaling: Peak TV på NRKAksels anbefaling: The Shadow Land Hosted on Acast. In this episode, host Vicki Lins delves into how the explosion of streaming services and the era of Peak TV have provided consumers with an unprecedented array of options, often leading to decision paralysis and choice overload. Together, they explore the paradox of choice and discuss ways to validate consumers' decisions to keep them coming back.
There may be far fewer TV shows being made in Hollywood these days than in the salad days of the peak-TV era, but that just means there's more hustling being done to get writers, producers, directors and actors staffed on a development season that goes on year-round. For the past 10 years, Grandview Management co-founders Jeff Silver and Matt Rosen have navigated dealmaking for their roster of writers and producers for top series like "Ozark" and "House of the Dragon" with considerable savvy. But this year they describe an industry environment quite different than what they've experienced in seasons past.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Hihi, this week we're going undercover with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine on their new Amazon Prime Video original Mr. & Mrs. Smith. It's inspired by the 2005 blockbuster Brangelina action rom-com, but this new darkly comedic martial thriller has more in common with FX's The Americans than the title suggests… …and speaking of FX: Peak TV prognosticator (and veteran FX chief) John Landgraf is back with his annual tally of scripted originals and an ominous prediction. With the number of new series in decline, is the era of Peak TV is truly over? (He's only predicted it twice before, so this time might be for real!) But first! Sony once again poses the question: Should you start hoarding physical media in the attic? Chris explores the wide world of Plex channels… …and Dianne plays a brand new game called Plex or Not?! ———

Tous les mercredis, New Deal décortique l'actualité politique américaine. Hollywood isn't out of the woods yet. "Peak TV" is officially over. IATSE might go on strike, tying up even more productions and cash-strapped studios are greenlighting fewer movies and TV series going forward. ➡️ Tip Jar and Fan Support: http://ClownfishSupport.com ➡️ Official Merch Store: http://ShopClownfish.com ➡️ Official Website: http://ClownfishTV.com ➡️ Audio Edition: https://open.spotify.com/show/6qJc5C6OkQkaZnGCeuVOD1 ➡️ Gaming News: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A7VIqE3r5MQkFgL9nifNc Additional Context: Hollywood is facing a critical juncture as the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) threatens to strike, marking potentially the largest work stoppage in over a decade. The dispute centers around demands for safer working hours, livable wages for the lowest-paid crafts, reasonable rest periods, and equitable pay for "new media" streaming projects. The looming strike could halt domestic production across the board, affecting everything from TV shows to movies. This situation, compounded by studios greenlighting fewer projects due to financial strains, signifies a challenging period ahead for the entertainment industry. This week I'm thrilled to be joined by Peter Biskind to discuss his new book, Pandora's Box: How Guts, Guile, and Greed Upended TV. From the rise of HBO to the streaming boom, how we watch TV—and what gets shown on TV—has radically changed over the last few decades. We discuss the role of technology, advertising, and changing audience tastes, and muse about the role TV's antiheroes played in paving the way for Donald Trump. If you're a fan of Biskind's previous books, Easy Riders, Raging Bulls and Down and Dirty Pictures, you'll love Pandora's Box. (If you haven't read Easy Riders, Raging Bulls, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy today.) And if you enjoyed this podcast, please share it with a friend!

Prestige TV brought ambitious shows like “Mad Men.” Peak TV meant an abundance of niche and weird programming like “Fleabag.” Now is post-TV here? In his new book Pandora's Box, he tells the story of what's sometimes called “Peak TV” – and how a change in business model (from network to cable to streaming) unlocked an extraordinary era of artistic innovation, and uncovered an unexpected darkness in the public appetite to be entertained.

The “unscripted” umbrella is large and varied, ranging from social commentary and true crime, to sports and competition, and culture and comfort – with seemingly endless offerings available at the touch of a button, the prospect of breaking through the cultural consciousness is more complex than it appears.Join the executives and producers behind Queer Eye, Cocaine Cowboys, Legendary, Growing Up Hip Hop, and more for a discussion about shaping their storytelling ethos, what draws them to unscripted content as fans and creatives, and the limitless future of unscripted TV.This conversation was recorded live at ATX TV Festival Season 12 (June 1-4, 2023) in Austin, TX.PANELISTS:David Collins (Co-Founder / EP, Scout Productions)Renata Lombardo (SVP Development & Current Unscripted Programming, Scout Productions)Billy Corben (Co-Founder, Rakontur)Ben Megargel (SVP, Development, Unscripted Television, eOne)MODERATOR:Sarah Pitre (Alamo Drafthouse)SUBSCRIBE to youtube.com/ATXTV for more panels, conversations & events with your favorite TV creatives and casts.FOLLOW ATX TV:Twitter: twitter.com/ATXFestivalFacebook: facebook.com/ATXFestivalInstagram: instagram.com/atxfestival/TikTok: tiktok.com/@atxtv

Why spend money on technology upgrades or picture quality when there is more money to made by turning cheap televisions into advertising platforms. For videophiles, maybe there will only be one or two brands with fewer high picture quality models to choose from with much higher prices. I hope I am wrong. What do the HT Guys think? How long, exactly? Let's dive into The Walking Dead's timeline and figure out what's going on. Timeline here… Things that bugged me about The Walking Dead: Not once in the seven seasons I watched the show did anyone try to locate short wave radio and make contact beyond their local area. While I understand food was available in the urban areas, why not try to get out to areas of the country that were not populated. When a living being dies they decompose in a few months. Why then do the walking dead not decompose but stay intact until their heads are blown off The walking dead slow down in cold weather. Why not go north in the winter and clear out huge swaths of land/city and build defenses that walking dead can't get through? There are very few animals.
