Take 10 with Tim – July 3, 2025 – Reviewing the first half and looking to the second half1.We are at the halfway point of the season. What three lessons have you learned or were reminded when reflecting on the first half?a.Which player did you get wrong at the draft table – not injury, but you just thought he would be better?i.Jacob Marsee – for me.b.Which player did you get right and wish you had more shares?2.First half MVPs – Mine are listed.a.Your personal MVPi.Tim – Sal Stewartii.Ben Rice – 23 home runs, 57 runs, 54 RBI and a .269 BA. He has slowed a bit since Judge has been out – he was also hurt a bit.b.Catcheri.Tim – Liam Hicksii.Dillon Dingler – He has 19 home runs! You could have gotten him in the 16th round.c.First basei.Tim – Ryan O'Hearnii.Miguel Vagas – 19 HR and 11 SB. He was the 34th 1B off the board.d.Second basei.Tim – Luis Garcia Jr.ii.Casey Schmidt – 16 HR, 7 SB, and a .283 BA. His runs and RBIs are a bit suppressed because he plays for the Giants.e.Shortstopi.Tim – Otto Lopezii.Bryan Rocchio – Partly, because I thought he was done – maybe a utility guy because of the defense. But, 5 HR, 14 SB and .270 BA. For a waiver wire guy as your middle infielder, not bad.f.Third basei.Tim – Kaz Okamotoii.Curtis Mead – A guy I always liked, but if I'm being honest, I would have bet Asia over what he's doing this season – by a wide margin. 14 HR, 4 SB, but only a .227 BA g.Outfield (3)i.Tim – James Wood, Andy Pages, Carson Bengeii.PCA – I know he was a second round pick, but he's on pace for a 40-40 season and if that happens, he's a Top 3 pick.iii.Jordan Walker – 18 HR, 10 SB, 58 RBIs, and a .288 average. As a reminder, he was the 87th outfielder off the board.iv.Angel Martinez – He's on the IL, but 11 HR and 9 SB for the 270th outfielder off the board. h.Starting Pitcher (3)i.Tim – Foster Griffin, Eduardo Rodriguez, Jacob Misiowroskiii.Kyle Harrison – 2.57 ERA, 8 wins, 96 Ks. You could have gotten him in the 29th round.iii.Davis Martin – 3.00 ERA, 9 win, 90 Ks. Great waiver wire pickup. i.Relieveri.Tim – Louis Varlandii.I hate them all, but I'll take Jacob Latz3.Give me a player or two that you think will improve significantly in the second half.a.Vlad Jr. and Tatis Jr. – Easy ones.b.Riley Greenc.Kyle Stowers – he'll get to 20+ home runs and 80+4.What's your #1 Closer in waiting in preparing for the trade deadline.a.Garrett Whitlockb.Luke Weaver5.What hitter are you targeting for this weekend's FAAB?a.Didn't get to6.What pitcher are you targeting for this weekend's FAAB?a.Didn't get to

We follow up on the tallest outfield ever — consisting of Cody Bellinger, Spencer Jones, and Aaron Judge — and with a little insight, it seems we may finally have confirmation. Thanks to some serious research and people-searching, Tim Kurkjian may have figured it out. Paul Skenes got things back under 2.00, which, are we really surprised? After that tough start to the season, he was able to settle right back in. And Cal Raleigh finally broke a streak no player ever wants to see happen. Meanwhile, Munetaka Murakami and his true outcomes couldn’t be truer. On This Date, we talk Tony Perez, Dwight Gooden, and Willie Mays as a New York Met. Plus, it wouldn’t be an episode without Walter Johnson coming up more than once. You’ll see him again in Three Cards in the Bathroom, surprisingly. The Alphabest “H” hitter and pitcher create a stir, but not as much as the same-name Team Tim. Tim seems relieved when he finally gets the entire team out. HE CAN REST now that he’s done with this list. As always, check out our website for more details on how to send Tim messages at any time. And of course, thanks for being a part of our family. Top Gun turns 40, and we can't talk about it without talking about the soundtrack that still punches through your speakers. From the first seconds of Kenny Loggins' “Danger Zone” on the aircraft carrier, we trace how 80s movie music uses needle drops to build character, tension, romance, and pure momentum. We get into the details that make the Top Gun soundtrack legendary: the way the Righteous Brothers' “You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'” revives an older classic for a new generation, how Berlin's “Take My Breath Away” becomes a musical signature for Maverick and Charlie, and why “Great Balls of Fire” remains one of the most unforgettable bar-scene singalongs in film. We also swap quick takes on the movie itself, the sequel callbacks, and why sometimes the music ages even better than the action. Then we jump into our Music in My Shoes picks and stories, including a huge milestone for the show: listeners in 100 countries. Along the way we hit The Kinks, The Doors, Peter Frampton's live-album magic, the Psychedelic Furs “Pretty in Pink” re-recording drama, Robert Palmer's “Addicted to Love” and the power of MTV-era visuals, plus a billion-views moment for the Outfield's “Your Love” and a spring break memory that drilled it into one of our brains forever. Wrap it up with No Doubt's “Just a Girl” and the eternal question of what you love hearing versus what you'd actually put on your own playlist. If you like music history, Billboard chart trivia, and the stories behind the songs, subscribe, share this with a friend who wore out their Top Gun cassette, and leave a review so more listeners can find us.Learn Something New orRemember Something OldPlease like and follow the Music in My Shoes Facebook and Instagram pagesReach out to us at musicinmyshoes@gmail.comSend us a one-way message. Greg Kuffner and Austin Layton break down the tough decisions looming for the Cincinnati Reds. With Nick Lodolo nearing a return after an impressive rehab start, the guys discuss who could be the odd man out in the rotation. They also dive into the crowded outfield situation as Will Benson, JJ Bleday, and Rece Hinds all push for playing time, and what Terry Francona might do to sort it out. Plus, Nathaniel Lowe's big weekend and why he's becoming one of the Reds' most impactful under-the-radar additions. The episode wraps up with a preview of the upcoming series against the Colorado Rockies.
