It's all about JRPGS! Japanese Role-Playing Games, what's the deal with that? What makes a JRPG a JRPG? What's the difference with other Role Playing Games? These questions and many more will be answered and discussed by Retrogamepapa together with special guest-knight Leah Haydu (Character Issues, Cane & Rinse). Of course both knights also name off their personal favorites and explain why JRPGs have been so important for them.Retrogamepapa's mic was somehow not working properly, thanks to the magic of Windows 11, that's why he sounds so terrible. Many hours were spent trying to salvage it and make it at least listenable. Hopefully the crappy sound quality won't bother everyone too much. The games and game series discussed (among others) are: Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy series, Persona series, Secret of Evermore, Illusion of Gaia/Time, Terranigma, Dragon Quest games, Squaresoft games, Enix games, Chrono Trigger, Nier series and many more.

Games besproken: Tekken gamereeks, Eliminate Down, Power Stone, Judge Dredd, UN Squadron, Stellar Blade, Darq, Scramble, Shinobi (PS2), Rule of Rose, Double Dragon games, James Cameron's Avatar games.
There's a big thing going on in the game development community at the moment. Unity, the most used game engine in the world, announced they'll be changing the terms of service, with dire consequences. From a certain number of sales onwards, developers need to start paying 20 cents for every install of their game. This is a ridiculous thing. Many, many developers are leaving Unity Why are developers so outraged? Why is Unity being so shitty? What will be the outcome of this? Michiel Kroder (Hitp Studio, Cane&Rinse, Videowizards podcast) and Peter Scheffer (Retrogamepapa) talk about all of this!We round this special off by talking about stuff we've been playing and stuff that we've seen, like Boardwalk Empire and the Armored Core games.
In this extended edition of the weekly gaming news we also discuss game system preservation with special guest Chris O'Regan from Cane & Rinse (https://twitter.com/chrisoregan). Plus Cyberpunk 2077 and Nine Days. Huge thanks for all your messages last week. We didn't have time to cover them this week but will get back to them next week. #GameBurst More info -> https://caneandrinse.com/category/sausage-factory/ Music includes Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (In.Deep)
