This week we'll be shifting our attention to something a bit more fun to talk about than tariffs! We're finally going to dig into the games currently announced for Switch 2. It's amazing how stacked the launch line-up is and it's a bit unfortunate that some of the excitement has been overshadowed by all the drama around the launch so far. We're going to be talking about the launch games and also comparing this to the Switch 1 launch line-up. Also in this episode, we'll be talking about some cool new games we're playing like Blue Prince and Capcom Fighting Collection 2! We also react to some news and confusion around the new Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition. We wrap it all up with some juicy questions from our Patreon subscribers. All this and more is coming right up! Games besproken: Tekken gamereeks, Eliminate Down, Power Stone, Judge Dredd, UN Squadron, Stellar Blade, Darq, Scramble, Shinobi (PS2), Rule of Rose, Double Dragon games, James Cameron's Avatar games.
“Oh no!” All-but abandoned after just two critically successful entries, Capcom's Power Stone is a series that lives on only in the hearts of those who played it quarter of a century ago. Leon, Karl, Michiel and Ryan - along with contributors from the listening community - bash out what made Power Stone such a blast, and ponder what the sequel was an eternal party favourite for some, yet an over-egged pudding for others. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/podcast/cane_and_rinse_issue_631.mp3 Music featured in this issue: 1. What a wild (and not great) week it has been in the world of video games! Sony shut down Concord less than two weeks after it launched to middling critical reception and tragic concurrent player counts. On top of that, Hideaki Itsuno - the famed designer behind classics like Power Stone, Devil May Cry, and Dragon's Dogma - announced that he is leaving Capcom after 3 decades. Despite all of the doom and gloom, new and exciting games continue to trickle out. Nick gives us his early impressions of Star Wars Outlaws which has been competing heavily with Black Myth Wukong for his time. Nolan walks us through his experience with the Quest 3 VR headset over the weekend and Brad talks about a cool new "Mesoamerican Fantasy RPG" called Arco. During the 4Player Minute, Chris Davis stuns with a shocking revelation about... Mattress shopping? Season 18, Episode 15: Brew Session (Omen Hawker + Training Grounds) The dream of Sol Ring is alive and well thanks to March of the Machine's astonishing blue mana dork, Omen Hawker. This little one drop taps for stunning amounts of mana — but only to pay for activated abilities. It's the kind of unique effect that promises so much power, but at the expense of consistency. Outside of oddballs like Zirda, Biomancer's Familiar, Powerstone tokens and Renowned Weaponsmith, specialized mana producers like Omen Hawker were mostly going it alone. Enter Training Grounds. This slick little reprint from March of the Machine: Aftermath suddenly doubles our options for a deck full of activated abilities, and opens up combo loops besides. It's not an exact parallel: not every Omen Hawker deck will be a Training Grounds deck, but every Training Grounds deck can potential benefit from the Omen Hawker. This is a brewing space that has barely been touched in three decades of competitive Magic, so it's all the more exciting to finally see what activated abilities can do. Cavedan and David are brewing up a storm with eight new decklists featuring Omen Hawker, Training Grounds, or both. We've got Pioneer Drafna combo decks, Shark Typhoon control decks, pump knight aggro, Nykthos devotion, and even turbo Urza's Saga. If that sounds far fetched, consider that Omen Hawker has already notched a 12th place Challenge finish in Modern, using Wizardcycling of all things! And the synergies in Pioneer keep getting better and better. It's a great time to be a blue creature brewer, so head on down to The Training Grounds and Activate Your Game (TM). Like our content? Join the Stranded Panda Comunity www.strandedpanda.com We've got a number of announcements coming from HBO Max's launch of it's new Branding. The Streaming Platform is using the absorption of Discovery+ content to rebrand to just…Max. New pricing tiers are also being released with different ad levels. The announcement I'm personally most excited for is The trailer for The Penguin series. It will be a spinoff from Matt Reeves' The Batman. The series will see Colin Farrell return to the role he played in The Batman with an eight episodes run premiering in 2024, Audiences will watch the Penguin navigate the power vacuum left in the underworld of Gotham City. The big announcement from Warner Brothers also revealed a new Game of Thrones prequel series is in the works. Based on George R.R. Martin's series of novellas, the Dunk and Egg books, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon V Targaryen 90 years prior to the events of A Song of Fire and Ice. Up next, Horror and Crime Thriller fans can look forward to two series of favorite franchises coming to Max. Peter Safran and James Wan of the The Conjuring movies are helming a drama series set in the horror universe audiences love. And Nic Pizzolatto's anthology series True Detective returns with Jodie Foster solving a bone-chilling mystery in True Detevtive: Night Country set in Alaska. Moving on to other things, In Marvel news, we learned that a 45-minute storyline of Thanos obtaining the Power Stone on Xandar was cut from the 2018 film Avengers: Infinity War. Wanting to keep the already long movie at a reasonable runtime, the scene did not receive full special effects treatment, but does exist in some form. Fans of The Walking Dead are set to get a new show as well with a six-part, short-form story series being produced by AMC+. Featuring voice actor extraordinaire Alan Tudyk, David Harbor,Indira Varma and Frank Grillo, the series, called Creature Commandos, will update the original comics characters who were a precursor to the Suicide Squad set during World War II, but still stay true to those storylines and themes. Returning to something less gloomy, Power Stone is based on the incredible Dreamcast game by Capcom, focussing on Edward Falcon (or Fokker in Japan) as he searches for both the elusive Power Stone and his missing father, Pride Falcon. Only a single 26-episode season was ever made, and passed most gamers by. Could this be a long lost gem of it's own?

We have to talk about Steve Rogers' MCU story and what he did with those Gems! He started off as just a kid from Brooklyn who didn't know how to stay down, and eventually grew into one of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Then at the end of the film, The Super Soldier embarked on a dangerous mission: return all the gems the Avengers had taken from the timeline and put them back exactly how he found them so as not to destroy reality. That's just as big of an undertaking as stopping Thanos don't you think? We know he accomplished his goal, as evidenced by Old Man Cap, but we robbed a chance to ever see how exactly this unfolded. Because let's be honest, a lot of this seemed impossible for one guy to do! Because yes, he could return things like the Mind Stone and the Reality Stone, but not in the way they originally came. How will that affect things in those timelines? Would Cap stick around to help since he's sorta responsible for the mess? And how exactly did he plan to return the Power Stone and the Soul Stone? It's not like he would have a handy dandy spaceship right? Well, there might have been a clever workaround for this and it probably involves the Space stone! So check out today's video all about the untold, unseen adventure about The First Avenger returning all the gems to their proper timelines. After you're done, be sure to hit that big like and subscribe button for more awesome CBR content like this. And hey, I've heard if you leave a comment, then Disney+ might make this adventure into an animated series! Ok, that's not necessarily true, but we can dream, right? 2:16 James KaplanDo you think Endgame underutilized Captain Marvel? I think she had a few good scenes but was expecting her to be more central to the story given the end of Infinity War. I also thought that maybe her characterization suffered a bit from being filmed before her solo movie. Anyway, would love to know your thoughts. 6:39 Ronald AcostaHey Sean! I'm on the side that's against introducing mutants via a multiverse. I've always felt that it might steer on the edge of being too convoluted. However it looks more and more like that's going to be the case with both this latest Spider-Man trailer and the reports that Diego Luna's Ghost Rider on Hulu May introduce a different origin/setting being strong indicators.I have nothing against a multiverse, but regarding a multiverse introduction for Mutants, I'm apprehensive as this would be a fairly new concept to tackle in a live-action cinematic format. I'm more than sure Marvel Studios can get us there and I know it all comes down to the execution, but I'm just curious as to what your thoughts or concerns may be. Especially with regards to how this might be the way we get the X-Men in the MCU. I know a lot of us have asked multiple versions of this question in previous q&a's, but given this new context, do you have any strong ideas of how it should be handled if this is the case? Or will you take the wait and see approach?11:24 Woo S! KimWhat did you think of the “Tonight Show” cover “We didn't start the fire” featuring Marvel Studios' stars? The reveal of Stan “The Man” got me right in the feels?11:51 Woo S! KimI was just thinking about this do you think this run that Marvel Studios is having from “Iron Man” to now is comparable to Pixar's great run from “Toy Story” to “Cars 2” in terms of box office and critical response?12:45 Robert KlauserHi Sean and Patrons. I know we discussed Thanos for a bit on the Office Hours channel, (which is awesome btw) but what do you think influences the stark (no pun intended) contrast between the benevolent of sorts Thanos in IW to the ruthless version we get in Endgame? Thanks.24:33 Orion ZangaraHey Sean, Thanks for being my favorite podcast! You guys absolutely rock! With the potential news that the marvel cinematic universe will become the marvel cinematic multiverse, do you think marvel studios will use this opportunity to create an “ultimate universe?” That way marvel studios doesn't have to reboot the entire cast and still have characters cross over between the primary universe. Thanks again!29:01 Michael WeaselboyHey Sean I have a Spider-Man question. Since Far From home counts as a Sony movie, and assuming Marvel and Sony will renew the deal for Spidey. What Marvel movie will Spidey appear in next?? I know they will likely do a third movie but that counts as Sony's movie, and with no Avengers movies planned for the next few years, what movie will he appear in next?? Could he guest star in Doctor Strange 2 or some other movie??36:41 Nick AdamsHey Sean I have a question about time travel in Endgame. They say that they have enough Pym particles for a round trip each. 2014 Nebula gives Thanos her final particle, but still manages to come back to 2023 with everyone else. Is this just a flaw, or am I missing something?Side note: just subscribed to the Patreon a week or so ago, and I'm loving every minute of it. Keep up the good work!40:09 Derek BeebeHey Sean, do you think there is any chance of a MCU Star Wars crossover movie, and if so, what would you like to see? I could only assume such a story would be out-of-continuity for both franchises.41:07 Derek BeebeEven more unlikely, could you ever see a MCU / DC movie come to pass? And who would you like the villain to be? A single one or a MCU and DC villain teaming up as well?43:42 Derek BeebeDo you think the next mega phase of the MCU will revolve around a single McGuffin like the Infinity Gauntlet? If so, what would it be? My theory would be the emergence of the mutants and the Phoenix Force culminating in Avengers vs. X-Men for the fate of the Phoenix. Of course, I do wonder if they would be willing do any version of Dark Phoenix for a third time.48:18 Giuseppe VicarettiHey Sean and fellow Patrons, after seeing Endgame 5 times now, and my question is could we see Spiderman step up his mantle and be the new "Iron Man" of this new generation of Avengers? Or would we be intrigued with Tony's Daughter stepping into the fold when she comes of age? I don't like the latter only because we would have to wait a good amount of time before seeing that, whereas Spiderman is sort of already stepping into it, so to speak. What are thoughts on this? Is there someone else I may have overlooked?51:26 Mookie JohnsonI find it interesting that MCU Spider-Man keeps introducing himself as "Peter Parker ". I recognize that it is amongst fellow heroes as far as we've seen through Endgame, but I thought that protecting his Identity has been a core trait. Is this something you find strange about his MCU characterization?53:08 Mookie JohnsonIn your head canon, who ran Wakanda during the 5 years of the royal children's absence, and do you think the transition of power back to T'Challa was universally accepted?56:56 Brian WhiteWhen Rhodey returns with the Power Stone, it comes in the Orb that we see in Guardians Volume 1, but Steve only returns to the past with the Power Stone in the suitcase. Going to be hard to restore the stone to its containment on Morag for Peter to find without that, I think. Thoughts on how Steve might correct this in Captain America 4, the movie or Disney Plus series (I hope!)? Thanks!58:39 Alex KleinBased off the new Spider-Man trailer and interview with Watts on Fandango, I'm wondering if Far From Home is going to play out more like Iron Man 3 than Ant Man/Antman&Wasp in terms of box office. Knowing this movie may heavily deal with Endgame fall out could push it to 1 billion.1:00:06 Conor KellyHi Sean, I'm a bit confused about the Fury/Parker dynamic from the “far from home” trailers and ending of endgame. In the trailers Fury is waiting in Peters room and hits Ned with tranquilliser. How come Peters spider senses didn't alert him that someone was there and why then did he say “you're Nick Fury” like he'd never seen him before? Surely they met at Tony's funeral as they were standing about 10feet apart during it!!1:04:04 Robert ReinekeHi Sean. Is it just me, or is it weird to be launching a Black Widow movie after we've just seen what's presumably her fate in Avengers: Endgame? I think many of us feel that Black Widow not having a solo movie was an oversight, and her not being with the mini-teamup of female heroes at the finale was something of a missed opportunity, but I don't think it's something that can be retroactively fixed. The MCU has been good at moving forward, so it seems like a prequel is a little out of step with the rest of the movies. Your thoughts?1:09:04 Jeremy WatsonSean, did you think it odd that Endgame didn't make a single reference to Vision? Wanda sort of hinted at him in her encounter with Thanos but nothing up to that point. Do you expect Wandavision to be the next time we see or hear of him? Thanks!1:11:40 AdamHey Sean. I know this isn't strictly a MCU question but it relates to the TV shows. I have always loved the tv shows that marvel puts out but now with Disney + I'm wondering which of the shows are technically cannon and which ones I should continue with. I love agents of Shield but know that it's not Necessarily cannon anymore. Do you have any recommendations on which shows I should stick with and which shows to drop when it comes to the mcu as a whole. Thanks 1:14:37 Rich WardIn Endgame when Scott is sitting outside the Avengers compound eating, Nebula seems uncommonly mean here. As far as I know she's never met or interacted with Scott, but when she sees his lunch blow away and walks by she says: "Careful, Rhodey, there's an idiot in the landing zone." Small, silly thing, and led to one of favorite moments (Hulk handing Scott two of his tacos), but stands out to me during each watch. I get why Rhodes makes the comment he does, but why do you think Nebula acts that way?1:16:16 Rich WardIn several recent interviews, Joe and Anthony Russo have said that Cap going back in time to be with Peggy has created a new timeline. From the New York Daily News: “Basically, in order for Cap to have that experience with Peggy, he would've begun another timeline," Anthony said. “Let's say he went back and found Peggy at the moment after he went in the ice but before she married somebody else. He could've begun the life with her at that moment in an alternate timeline.”But, in an Fandango interview, writer Markus and McFeely "reject" that theory:Fandango: So people are asking... Does this mean an old Captain America was hanging out this whole time while another Captain America was saving the day?Christopher Markus: That is our theory. We are not experts on time travel, but the Ancient One specifically states that when you take an Infinity Stone out of a timeline it creates a new timeline. So Steve going back and just being there would not create a new timeline. So I reject the "Steve is in an alternate reality" theory. What are your thoughts on the disconnect? Do you think this is intentional, to create a bit of confusion and ambiguity, and to let Marvel reveal more about time travel, the multiverse, etc. in the years and stories ahead, or could it simply be that they disagree on the rules of time travel? It's hard to imagine these four making a movie like Endgame while disagreeing on such an important piece of the story. Or maybe it's not that important or hard to imagine and I'm thinking way too much about it!1:24:34 Hector Giovanni NavarreteIn regards to the Multiverse opening up in the MCU due to the events in AE. Do you believe it could've happened due to the fact that Thanos destroyed all of the Infinity Stones? I have only seen the movie twice so I am not sure if I understood 100% accurately the explanation of the Ancient One about what happens when a Stone is taken out of a certain timeline. She mentioned how that could create an alternate timeline. So could something similar or the Multiverse opening up happen when the Stones themselves are destroyed and essentially taken out of the current MCU timeline? Just something I was thinking about, could be totally wrong.1:26:48 Keith BarberHi Sean - If Tony's arc reactor in Endgame only powers the suit/nanotech and is no longer keeping Tony alive, why does the light go out when he dies? Sorry if this has already been addressed, I may have missed it.1:29:08 Chris CascioHey Sean just been thinking of our post endgame world the mcu is in. I was wondering outside of the Xmen or FF who are some of the heroes that you would like to see enter the MCU. Two for me are Captain Britain and Nova the Sam Alexander Nova.1:29:53 Giuseppe VicarettiAnother questuon I have for you Sean is, do you think the Black Widow and Hawkeye moment on Vormir was not handled the best way it could have been? My meaning is, do you think Hawkeyes death would have had a longer lasting impact on our characters? Also do you think they dragged out that scene longer than they should have? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Sean answers your Marvel questions!0:26 William Ford-ConwayHey Sean! Hope all is well. Let the countdown to Endgame begin! Allow me to put on the tin foil cap of speculation BUT with the recent release of the "Survivors and Fallen" posters, I noticed that its "official" that all the Iron Man centric characters survived the snap and may have some role in Endgame. Im not one to try to guess who is going to die, but I couldn't help feel that maybe this is a hint that Tony won't make it out OR at the very least will be his last hurrah in some sense. I can just see the movie taking the time to include the Iron Man history the most if Marvel plans on scaling back the Iron Man lore going forward. Thoughts?5:04 Phillip CastroHey Sean! Mind sharing your tips and tricks for making it comfortably though a 3+ hour movie in theaters?! Thank you! Hahaha8:02 Woo S! KimI heard from several people that Flo's Diner at Disneyland/California Adventure is a great restaurant, what is your favourite restaurant at Disneyland and would you be all for an MCU themed restaurant?8:51 Woo S! KimWhat are some of your favourite songs that were non scored music used for the Guardians of The Galaxy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for me it has to be “Rubberband Man,” “Ain't No Mountain High Enough,” “Go All The Way” “Mr. Blue Sky” and “Southern Nights.” What about you, Sean?10:24 William Ford-ConwayDidn't get a chance to mention this on a previous Q&A but words can't describe how happy I am that James Gunn is back for Vol 3 and since that news I have been thinking about the possibilities a lot recently. I know it was a very long time ago, but do you remember a piece of news that some info from the Vol 1 prison lineup might be retconned for Vol 3? Just for fun I've been taking that as a hint for where Vol 3 is going and one possibility I found is that in Rocket's profile it says his associate is Lylla. For those who don't know, Lylla is an Otter from Rocket's homeworld in the comics. Because I have a sneaking suspicion that Rocket will have an even bigger role in Vol 3 (as Gunn as related to him the most it seems) Im wondering if this will be retconned so that Rocket meets her and thus finally meeting someone like him for the first time (completing his story of not feeling alone). Again, some wild speculation but I could totally see it happening. Also for the voice of Lylla, give me Tiffany Haddish!13:21 Paul ShearmanHey Sean and everyone - happy One Month Until Avengers Endgame to you all!! Following on from Alex's question on the weekend Q&A about Kevin Feige directing a Marvel movie, it got me thinking (again!) about how lucky we are to have had Kevin at the helm throughout this 11 year wonder that is the MCU. From listening to interviews with Kevin, we know that he is a huge comics fan, but he always talks about movies being his biggest passion, and that all he wanted to do when he was a kid was to make movies. We know that Kevin has the Midas touch for finding the best storytellers to tell these tales in the MCU, and he has utilised the source material of the comics fantastically well to bring these stories to life, but would you say that it's his expertise in movie-making, above his love and knowledge of the history within Marvel comics, that is creating the golden formula here? And is this why Marvel movies are so much more successful that DC movies (in my opinion, and I would just reaffirm that I love both Marvel and D.C. and always have done). Hope this question makes sense, enjoy the rest of your week (oh, and the “In The Endgame Now” episodes have been fantastic so far, thank you!)23:27 Jeremy WatsonHey Sean and fellow patrons! Hope everybody is having a great week! I am as excited as anyone about Disney bringing back James Gunn for Vol. 3. I am wondering though, do you know why Disney changed course? Was this the plan all along or was there something else behind the scenes that lead to Disney changing their minds? Thanks!28:58 Jessica PritchettHi Sean. A couple of Captain Marvel-Skrull-related questions for you. The movie seemed to make a point of showing us Talos telling his wife to shield their daughter's eyes, and then the daughter ducking around and seeing Talos shoot a couple of the Kree and get shot. I thought that moment seemed too pointed to be a throwaway even at my first viewing. Do you think this could play into a future MCU and/or Captain Marvel movie, and if so, how? Could the daughter be a future villain, for example? The same question for Monica's comment about loving the Skrulls' eyes — do you think that could be integrated into a later movie? Thanks for all that you do!31:56 Jeb WielandWhat would you like to see from the Disney+ shows in terms of plot? Bucky and Sam buddy cop comedy? Vision and Wanda dramatic romance? Curious what you think we'll see and what you'd prefer to see.34:54 Mookie Johnson1)I know Disney/Marvel gave up their July 2020 release date. If a movie is progressing fast enough to be ready for 2020, can Disney/Marvel pick that date back up or can they use one of the dates Fox claimed prior to the merger?37:12 Mookie Johnson2) Can you give your best guess of the upcoming release order of Nova, Sheng-Chi, Black Panther 2, Dr. Strange 2, Captain Marvel 2, the next Ant-Man and Wasp project, Guardians 3, and Dr. Doom (assuming Fox's project is adjusted instead of scrapped)? Best guess, is that the lineup leading into Avengers 5?41:59 Michael WeaselboyHey Sean how is your week going?? I just wanted to ask a hypothetical question, how would you react if instead of saying James Gunn was returning to make Guardians Vol. 3, what if the news was a new director for the film instead?? Just for example lets say Travis Knight was announced as the new director?? Thoughts??43:44 Derek BeebeHey Sean, it definitely looks like Dark Phoenix will indeed be hitting theaters. Are you confident New Mutants will as well? Do you have any guess to what they'll gross?46:03 Derek BeebeI realize "Civil War" was titled as a Captain America film for contractual reasons, but do you think it would have made more money if they called it "Avengers: Civil War"?48:37 Derek BeebeLet's say Marvel will only make three FF movies. What three stories do you pick?49:57 Derek BeebeI just remembered Black Dwarf has Captain Marvel's uniform tied to his belt in Infinity War, which we got zero reference to in Carol's movie. Do you think Carol's second movie, still set in the past, will show her going up against the Children of Thanos?51:53 AlexDC question: What's your thoughts about Zack Snyder's recent comments defending the creative decision to have Batman kill? I have nothing against Mr. Snyder but I can't help feeling he's fanning the flames with his comments which I can't help but feel are incendiary in nature. Can you see what Snyder is saying?1:00:26 AlexAnother DC question: Snyder recently talked about his original plans for Justice League in a Q&A for a fan screening for BvS and it got me wondering do you think if Warners had not interfered with Snyder and released original better cut of BvS and left Snyder alone on Justice League do you think the movie would've fared better at the box office or do you think the movie still would've bombed just the same?1:01:57 AlexAnother Question: Also what do you think of Snyder's original plans for Justice League? Do YOU think it would've been better than the movie we ultimately ended up getting or do you think Warners made the right decision to meddle as much as they did, and Snyder's vision just wasn't going to cut it after the lousy reception of BvS? What do you think Kevin Feige would do if he was in the same situation?1:14:29 AlexDo you prefer MCU Doom to have a severely scarred face behind the mask like in the John Bryne version or would you prefer they go with the original Stan and Jack version where there's only a mild scar to an otherwise perfect face. I'm leaning towards the former rather than the later.1:15:16 David RosenHey Sean and Friends, Before we get completely dominated by End Game questions and discussion, I still have a few Captain Marvel thoughts I want to ask about. The movie's box office is just about at $915 million as of today (Tuesday). There are a number of reasons one could come up with to explain the amazing success the movie has had so far, including it being Marvel's first major release featuring a female superhero, it's connection to the events of the MCU, the whole troll review bombing (which I think actually helped bring more attention to it for the mainstream audiences), the Marvel brand, it's the final movie leading up the End Game, and the fact that it's just a really fun and entertaining movie. Of all these, what do you think is the main contributing factor to this movie's success or can it be attributed to a perfect storm of scenarios that helped propel this movie to where it will eventually end up? I don't want to take anything away from this movie, but I think there are better movies in the MCU, but not all have been this financially successful. What's different about Captain Marvel?1:21:06 Brett HeierHey Sean, do you think that because heimdall was not in a poster even though he died but gamora and Loki died and they had a poster mean that they will come back? Also, do you think that giving shuri a black and white poster is just to mislead us?1:23:37 Michael ChavezHey Sean! I feel like it's been forever since I've asked a question, but I hope you're well and all the listeners are enjoying the moment (as you have put it recently) as we gear up for Endgame. Is there a particular reason why Marvel has delayed preordering tickets for endgame? I am assuming it's because theaters were waiting for official runtime to plan for showings and whatnot, but it just seems later than normal. Also a quick side note, I have used some of your points in how to view marvel movies (IMAX and/or Dolby) with family and friends and they're hooked on Dolby. Good advice (in the voice of Whiplash).1:29:15 Rodrigo Valverde IIIHey, Sean, new listener to the podcast and love everything about it!If you could pick one DC character to appear in the MCU who would you pick, and which DC character do you think would fit the best in today's MCU?1:30:41 AlexSean, in terms of comic book movies it seems to me that the only comic book movies that do exceptionally well are the Marvel & DC ones so I have to wonder if non-Marvel and non-DC comic book movies will ever reach mainstream popularity. Hellboy I think will flop. It's early tracking so far is is really lukewarm. 1:35:40 Robert ReinekeHi Sean. I know you have a lot of admiration for Short Term 12 and must have thoughts on the signing of Destin Daniel Cretton to direct a Shang-Chi movie. I'm happy for him as I have a lot of admiration for Short Term 12, but I wonder if perhaps Marvel would have been better off with an experienced action director for what should supposedly be a martial arts film. In particular, I think this really needs to have outstanding action direction to connect with the Chinese audience. Regardless, I hope they resist a needle drop of Kung Fu Fighting. What are your thoughts?1:39:59 Brian WhiteHi Sean, I have an interesting theory I've shared on Quora. I think it's originally mine at least. Ego claimed to be a Celestial and he created a planet to contain and protect his Light. Peter Quill as his scion was able to use that energy. We know of the traditional Celestials and they seem to be part of the MCU evidenced by Knowhere being the head of a Celestial and the Collector's presentation of Power Stone users. Maybe a Celestial's armor is merely an advanced and more efficient form of the planet body they start with? What if Odin is a scion of an Ego-like Celestial, Buri or Bor, who created Asgard like Ego created his Moon sized planet? Neither Ego's Moon or Asgard resemble typical planets; the laws of physics seem to bend to their rulers' wills. What if Hela and Thor and all Asgardians in fact are supplemented by the energies of Asgard's Light? Maybe Earth too contains a Celestial's Light and Thor was born from Asgard's and Earth's Celestial scions. This could explain how Hela would lose her primary source of power when Surtur destroys Asgard, but Thor would seem to be unaffected by its destruction. It ironically makes Peter's jealousy of Thor more hilarious in that they are cousins of a sort. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
