In this episode, I have taken a deep dive on of my favourite levels to play when growing up which was stealth levels. I was a huge fan of both MGS & Splinter Cell franchises, now we see some form of stealth in many of our games. This week on The Free Cheese, six more weeks of Syphon Filter. The final entry in the Syphon Filter series becomes the first to join The List. We recap our understanding of the series' plot, highlight some of the differences introduced in this game, and discuss how it fares against the PSP library at its time of release.
Featuring: Ammosart, Ashgar, Belghast, Kodra, Tamrielo, and Thalen We start off the show with a discussion that has been kicking around our list for a while, where Tam discusses the shared DNS of a Good Stealth Game and a Good Metroidvania. From there Kodra has had time to play Forspoken and talks about his experiences after last week's show. We dive into a discussion about the news coming out that no one seems to be signing up for E3 and once again we question if there really is a place for that show in the public consciousness. Lastly, we talk about some of the games that are supposed to be released this year and try and determine which we actually think are. Topics Discussed Shared DNA of Stealth games and Good Metroidvanias More talk of Forspoken Nobody is Going to E3 Games we doubt are releasing in 2023

Almost nothing in gaming feels as good as a nice headshot. Except maybe doing it while the rest of the enemies are completely clueless to your whereabouts. Oh, and then taking the dead body and stuffing it into a locker. Yeah...that's the stuff. That's right - this month the Beat of the Month crew take on Stealth Games! We cover some stealth games such as Aragami and Horizon Zero Dawn and then some other odds and ends that we've been playing like Cuphead DLC and Stray. We also break down what makes a stealth mechanic good and bad (PROTIP for game makers - if the majority of the game isn't a stealth game, the stealth mechanic probably isn't good!) We've also got a double dose of trivia, but with a twist! And what exactly is a 'Syphon Filter' anyway? Tune in to find out!

Shhhhh. Sneak by the guard and check out today's episode all about stealth games. First up, the first console release of the Hitman series comes in the form of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin that made it's way to the GameCube 20 years ago. Neil & Mike discuss this beloved franchise and how the games somehow seem to keep getting even better as time goes on. Friend of the show Dylan makes an appearance to talk about Silent Assassin as well as his involvement with "Extra Life", a 24 hour gaming session every year to help raise money for Childrens charities. The boys also cover two more stealth genre games: Rogue Ops and Second Sight, the latter is a game made by New Radical Design, makers of TimeSplitters and former Rare employees who created the legendary 007: Golden Eye. All this and more on the stealth episode of The GameCube Was Cool Podcast.

Last week, we took a break to relax and enjoy the Labor Day weekend! This week, Cody and Steve talk about some news! Pokemon GO: Finally, after years and years of smart phone dominance, Pokemon is finally coming to mobile devices. Now we can finally live out our dreams of becoming actual Pokemon Masters! What a time to be alive. [via Polygon] Metal Gear Solid V: The newest [and pretty much the last] installment of the Metal Gear Solid franchise is here and it's amazing and perfect and one of the best games to come out in years. It feels like a fitting end to the Kojima-era at Konami. Fallout 4: Bethesda announced this week that Fallout 4 would have Season Pass available at launch for $30. It will include several DLC expansions [much like previous Bethesda games] at a discounted price if you buy the Season Pass. If the past is any indication of the future, $30 will definitely be worth it. [via PC Gamer] Then, Cody and Steve sit down to talk Metal Gear Solid and other stealth games. We cover everything from the Ghost Recon series to the Splinter Cell series, to why some of those franchises have gone in interesting directions. We talk Assassins Creed and how it is rapidly turning in to an action-adventure game with a couple of stealth elements instead of the stealth game with action-adventure elements it started out as. We also give some love to the Sniper Elite franchise because ridding the world of fascism is a good time. EPISODE 50! Next week is Episode 50 of Additonal Pylons!
