"Auckland's the problem child," when it comes to a blow out in wait times to sit licence tests, according the NZTA. Want to be drivers are having to wait up to a year for a spot. In desperation some are travelling to Thames, Matamata, and Te Awamutu 280 kilometres from Auckland. NZTA said demand for tests has gone up 60% and it's hurridly bolstering testing officer numbers. To help ease congestion, the government's agreed to extend the amount of time people can drive on over licences from 12 to 18 months. At the Glen Innes VTNZ centre in East Auckland, learner drivers say the long wait times are frustrating. NZTA's national manager regulatory system design Chris Rodley told Lisa Owen the wait times are unacceptable

The Tally Ho welcomes you to The Village as we continue our journey through classic TV series The Prisoner. In this follow-up to our discussion about Once Upon A Time, we talk to documentary filmmaker and writer Chris Rodley about this classic episode, the gladiatorial battle of wits between Patrick McGoohan and Leo McKern, and why this is his favourite piece of television. We also discuss how it leads in to the finale Fall Out and the impact that these two episodes had on the television landscape. There are significant SPOILERS for Fall Out for those who have not yet seen the finale!Chris made the wonderful documentary film In My Mind about Patrick McGoohan and The Prisoner. The film chronicles Chris' interviews in 1983 with McGoohan for the now unavailable Channel 4 documentary Six Into One: The Prisoner File, made in anticipation of the high profile re-run of the series on the channel in 1984. The interviews were derailed by technical hiccups, an inexperienced crew and a subject who was notoriously hard to pin down, and indeed tried to take control of the production. Revisiting the original footage in 2017 for the show's 50th anniversary, In My Mind is filled with previously unseen footage from these inteviews and provides a startling insight into the elusive McGoohan. You can also check out our previous interview with Chris about In My Mind in our podcast from earlier this year. A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum: Why has this surreal track remained enduringly popular for over 50 years? Soul Music hears the stories and memories of those who love it. Released in May 1967, A Whiter Shade of Pale was Procol Harum's first single. It went to No. 1 in the UK, and stayed there for six weeks. Contributors: Musicologist, Allan Moore, deconstructs the track and dismisses the almost universally accepted idea that it mimics Bach's Air on a G String. Film-maker, Chris Rodley, remembers the impact it had on him when he heard it for the first time, in the dead of the night, on Radio Caroline. Musician, James Pollard, explains how he created a wedding march for a friend using this track as inspiration. Thriller writer, Nelson DeMille, describes his year in Vietnam as 'the year without music', but A Whiter Shade of Pale is the one song that reminds him of his time there. Singer, Sarah Collins, suffered a brain tumour shortly after the birth of her second child. Making the decision to sing again was fundamental to her healing process. As her Dad, Phil, explains 'Whiter Shade' is his favourite song. He was very moved when she decided to record it for her YouTube channel. Produced in Bristol by Karen Gregor.
