Thành công thương mại Album gặt hái thành công thương mại đáng kể nhờ bản hit No more I love you. Album đứng thứ 11 trong bảng xếp hạng Billboard 200 album bán chạy nhất tại Mỹ cùng năm. Con dao hai lưỡi của No more I love you khiến cho các đĩa đơn tiếp theo trong album bị đặt lên bàn cân. Đĩa đơn thứ hai, A Whiter Shade of Pale, hát lại bản gốc nhóm rock Anh, Procol Harum năm 1967. Một tác phẩm khác được bà hát lại, Take me to the river (Đưa em tới con sông) của Al Green. Bản nhạc Train in vain hay I can't get next to you là món ăn mới lạ cho những khán giả quen thuộc công thức gốc nhờ tiết tấu beat mạnh mẽ và guitar Tây Ban Nha.

"In ev'ry day that passes us byI can't help the feelin' that you and IWe won't get to see another day together.Looks like bad weather.Yes it does,And I believe it's gonna rain"Yes a Rainy Spring Sunday in SoCal so please allow me to be your musical umbrella, Joining us on this weeks Super Sounds Of The 70's are Dire Straits, David Bowie, Little Feat, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Mountain, Joe Walsh, Rod Stewart, The Byrds,, Flying Burrito Brothers, Procol Harum, The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Jimi Hendrix, Stephen Stills, The Moody Blues, Alan Parsons Project, Supertramp, Derek & The Dominos and Poco.
New Hampshire Unscripted talks with the performance arts movers and shakers
Time to get personal. Well, a little personal anyway. Today on WKXL's NH Unscripted we take a trip in the wayback machine to my high school years and a couple of songs that had an impact on me. I especially focus on two musical groups: Procol Harum and Marmalade. The 60's and 70's were both great times and brutal times socially. The Vietnam war, forced school integration, the Kent State shootings, Woodstock, etc. combined to produce a snapshot of life never to be reproduced. Enjoy.

On this episode, we fix our gaze on guitarist Robin Trower. Though he's not a household name today, he continues to be held in high regard by guitar aficionados. His time with Procol Harum and the formation of his own power trio laid the foundation for a sound that would captivate audiences and inspire countless guitarists. From Trower's use of the middle pickup on his Fender Stratocaster to the swirling effects of the Univibe pedal, we explore the sonic artistry behind “Day of the Eagle“, and the power of music across decades… from the days when guitars ruled the airwaves and heroes were measured by bend of a string. “Day Of The Eagle” – Robin Trower Copyright 1974 Chrysalis Music Ltd Learn more about your ad choices. Some reflections on The Beatles' song/purported-advice 58 years after. Does it hold up? Was it ever true?Nope.Well, what then? What is needed, and how do you get it?I prefer the words of Procol Harum: "For the answer lies in learning, and in teaching we are taught. Renowned ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro and legendary drummer Mick Fleetwood have teamed up to release a new rendition of the classic "Whiter Shade Of Pale." The single, a reimagining of Procol Harum's iconic song, is the second taste of their highly anticipated collaborative album, set to drop on October 18th via 40 Below Records."Whiter Shade Of Pale" has long been regarded as a timeless classic, and now, in the hands of these two iconic musicians, it takes on a new life. The collaboration marries Jake Shimabukuro's masterful ukulele playing with Mick Fleetwood's dynamic drumming, creating a soundscape that is both haunting and uplifting. Mick Fleetwood shares his excitement about the project: "This is a song I've always wanted to play… of course, the song recorded by Procol Harum was a world-renowned classic… with a melody so strong that it became a gift to us! And Jake totally commands the full need for dynamics and a passionate delivery. At last, I got to play and record this song!!!" Jake Shimabukuro reflects on the collaboration: "This was a song that Mick suggested. Such an iconic piece of music. It truly plays like an anthem. And Mickʻs drumming makes the track feel amazing. I was just transported through his drum sounds." The upcoming album, Blues Experience, promises to be a powerful fusion of their distinct musical styles, blending Jake's innovative approach to the ukulele with Mick's legendary rhythm. Fans can look forward to an album that pushes boundaries while honoring the timeless quality of the music they both cherish. Joining Shimabukuro and Fleetwood on the album are bassist Jackson Waldhoff and keyboard player Michael Grande. Special guest Mark Johnstone from The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band also lends his keyboard prowess to "Need Your Love So Bad" and "Rockin' In The Free World." Over two intense three-day sessions, the band recorded nine tracks live in the studio, with Sonny Landreth contributing slide guitar to the Jeff Beck/Stevie Wonder classic "Cause We've Ended As Lovers." Blues Experience promises to be a landmark release. It combines the formidable talents of Jake Shimabukuro and Mick Fleetwood with fresh, innovative interpretations of blues classics. Fans can expect a bold and forward-looking album that is deeply rooted in tradition.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

From his beginnings following his family's roots to Michigan, Steve Lyman found his way to befriending the Quackenbush family, helping found The Fugitives. That result would catapult him into early Michigan rock and roll history within the band Scot Richard Case, later to be familiarized as SRC. The band became one of the first major label players on Capitol Records. Lyman's voice and guitar were to compliment the first two albums, while he honed his writing skills. Here in Part 2 of 2, Lyman discusses the parties with Traffic and Procol Harum, details of writing the first two albums, Peter Gabriel's love of SRC in early Genesis, and the psychedelic groove that his teardrop guitar stated. Further future reunions and life after SRC follow...even snippet's of songs! What an incredible 2-part series, wrap up.

Oh, those mountain boys sure can play!!!The Mountain-Ear, Volume 15, Number 4, October 31, 1991: Hot local band spawned at seafood counterBy Barbara LawlorNarrated by Dango RoseHave you ever wondered how some of those musical groups choose their names? Is there any rhyme or reason? Take, for example, Steely Dan, whose name has its basis in literature, after an item in Burroughs' risque Naked Lunch. The Talking Heads were named after newscasters, the headshots on a television screen. Procol Harum?—who knows? And one can only guess what prompted Ten Thousand Maniacs. But here in the mountains, learning the origin of Boulder County's hottest group, Leftover Salmon, is easy. Just ask 'em.
