WOOHOO! Big shout out to the wondrous Liliana, a student who I'm now coaching through TOEFL iTP. She got in contact with me over the weekend and needed help with TOEFL iTP, so I quickly set up a pre-diagnostic coaching session and I coached her through the particulars of grammar. A phenomenal coaching session here! If anyone is interested in courses or a pre-diagnostic test, get in touch with me!Edit: After purchasing just my Structure course, she improved from 440 to 493 and got the score needed! That was JUST with the Structure course!IELTS Webinar (Speaking Part 2 June 26th): https://arsenioseslpodcast.podia.com/ielts-speaking-part-2-webinar/buyTOEFL iBT Webinar (Speaking Question 1 June 19th): https://arsenioseslpodcast.podia.com/toefl-ibt-speaking-question-1-webinarTry my memberships FOR FREE: https://arsenioseslpodcast.podia.com/toefl-ibt/buyPodia TOEFL Memberships: https://arsenioseslpodcast.podia.com/toefl-ibtPodia TOEFL iTP Course (Structure): https://arsenioseslpodcast.podia.com/toefl-itp-structure/buyPodia TOEFL iTP Course (Written Expression): https://arsenioseslpodcast.podia.com/toefl-itp-written-expressionInstagram ESL Podcast: https://www.instagram.com/arsenioseslpodcast/Podcast on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7hdzplWx6xB8mhwDJYiP6fFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/Arseniobuck/?ref=bookmarksYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIzp4EdbJVMhhSnq_0u4ntAWebsite: https://thearseniobuckshow.com/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/arsenio-buck-9692a6119/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thearseniobuckshow/?hl=enBuzz sprout: https://www.buzzsprout.com/165390Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/arseniosesllearning)
Daniel surprises Anthony with an oldy but goody… “RAPPIN FOR JESUS!” He definitely did NOT react to the video. EDIT: After we recorded this, I had to patch a hole in the studio floor due to how far Anthony's jaw dropped
"Lucy isn't shallow. She isn't just an extention of other characters and their development. She really does come across as having her own identity. She is that mix of emotional optimism and reasoned out introspection we see in her chapters, and to be honest, I think that her presence brings into focus the darker elements of this gothic text. Because, with her loss, the darkness comes creeping in..." ---- Part 2 of our final look at Secret Rooms. Here, we dive deep into the gothic analysis, going a bit down the rabbit hole to explore the various kinds of gothic genre and subgenre as established both in Europe and the Americas. We talk about the subverted tropes, the plethora of added female energy to the story, if Krieger is like Dracula, Abigail as a Byronic hero, the modern trope of the Lancer, and an exploration of what Lovecraftian elements this story does use as components. And next week.... Cats. EDIT: After the official news of today, I modified the episode. There were only a few downloads, but if you listened to the original already, you can download the new one, and the changes start at timestamp 58:41. Dov and I started by talking about experiencing fun for the first time. I'm not the most fun person ever but a lot more now than before. He handled context that kept me from recording before despite knowing I wanted to. By context I mean legality, framing, and things that if you don't cover it's just talking about drugs, not life.I shared a few stories showing how I integrated the social skills the MDMA experience helped prompt, which leadership work eventually complemented and augmented when I went to business school. But the deep part of this episode is my sharing my experiences of powerlessness as a man compared to women, as well as the stories of few men who experienced similar situations that suggest to me my situation isn't rare. Note that I don't describe problems with women but a system and culture that says hashtag believe women without accountability or equality. My leadership work has been leading me to become famous but I've been afraid to get past a certain level for fear of one of the stories I tell in this episode. I had to share this to liberate myself from that fear. Again, I'm not afraid of the truth, nor of women, but of an unfair system and, for that matter, a culture that is predisposed to silence me in this area.Since recording I found some old emails from her. She found my girlfriend, I don't know how. She found postings of mine and tried to out my anonymous identity as an attraction coach, she included a picture of me with my girlfriend in an email to me, I think implying she knew things about me I hadn't told her and could act on them. One of her last emails to me listed things she wanted me to know and said "and you really don't know what I can do", which to this day I take seriously.I've held a lot of this stuff inside since the mid-90s---the experience with the woman in grad school, the late 90s my experiences with ecstasy, the late 2000s learning attraction and seduction, and the mid-2010s seeing the unaccountable power society gave a woman should she choose to act on it. But my practice is openness, allowing yourself to be vulnerable, sharing your whole self, and integration. Not sharing the experiences in this episode held me from my potential. My leadership work is about helping people improve their relationships with themselves and people they care about. I find they work best when I don't hold part of myself back, especially the most important parts, or separate parts of myself.Sharing this stuff has been a new beginning---no longer censoring myself out of fear of hashtag movements silencing my voice and experience. I'm moving to stop holding back experiences I found most developmental.EDIT: After recording this episode I shared the story with my mom. After she heard me describe the stories with women, she told me that the woman emailed her!In this case, she seems to have a lot more power. If a man wrote "You don't know what I can do" or contacted a woman's mother, he could end upin jail. If a man complains, many people will ask what he did to deserve it. Again, my issue is with a culture, not truth or women in general.Sharing these stories has opened me to share and has given me courage to act despite the fear. In which Yael Saar, the founder of MCC is testing and practicing the podcasting thing with the help of Liz Hartman, an Ithaca mother of two young boys with a penchant for political activism. She’s here to encourage us to amplify the influence of parents on policymaking, by lending our support to political candidates committed to policies that support the needs of parents and children. We will cover how she got involved, what she actually does to support candidates she believes in, and how it all fits into her busy life as a mom of two boys during quarantine time. We will also cover what you need to know about absentee voting in NY state in the June 23rd primary. Link to the application: https://www.elections.ny.gov/votingabsentee.html Disclaimer: All opinions expressed in this episode are individual and do not constitute an endorsement by MCC or Mother Up of any political candidate or party. As a nonprofit project of the Center for Transformative Action, we can engage in voter education but we are prohibited from participating in any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. We are grateful for Liz’s compliance with this prohibition, and I’m really impressed at how she managed to avoid naming candidates while sharing her motivation and her personal evolution, as well as giving us ideas for practical ways we can get involved too. Feelgood played bass in a band with my dad before I was born. And when I started playing bass as a teenager, Feelgood would sometimes come over and show me how to play my favorite Pearl Jam and Green Day songs on the bass. He's been a gigging musician since the 60's, and continues to this day. For all those reasons, this episode is very special to me, and stands out among the rest has having a particular value to it. Nobody else on this show has known me since I was a baby, much less knew my folks before I was even in the picture. That said, some of what Feelgood told me during our conversation blew my mind—particularly the story he tells towards the end of the episode. EDIT: After publishing the episode, my mom commented on a story I shared from my childhood, and told me how she remembered it differently. We occasionally disagree about stories from that long ago, but in this case, I trust her memory more than mine. I say here that a little boy called my sister a racial slur, and that my mom went to report this behaviour to his father, who didn't find it problematic at all. As my mom recalls, that was no the sequence of events. In fact, the dad told his kids they weren't to play with us anymore because we were N*****s, particularly my little sister who is darker than me, though we're both mixed. My sister was 5 years old. Anyway, just wanted to set the record straight. My mom did come very close to whooping that dad's ass, but restrained herself. She mentions this was aided by the fact that when she went to talk to him, he kept the screen door between them and didn't leave his house. I fucking love my mom.

After some wins, the fish clearly thinks he is ready for a bigger pond. But the two worst hand histories in the podcast beg to differ. EDIT: After publishing, we realized how terrible the audio is. So while we rectify that, please bear with us.
I was messing around with LSDJ and this suddenly slipped out. I thought a quirky and anomalous loop would be deserving of an equally quirky and anomalous name. EDIT: After listening to this again, I can tell there's a lot of influence from VHS Head and other "aesthetic" stuff like that. 2020 Creative Commons CC Attribution Noncommercial Share Alike (BY-NC-SA)

When it comes to simple living, we can all use a few more tips to help us along. We’re going to share 3 more simple living habits you can start using right now for a better today and tomorrow. One of our most popular shows was Episode 55, 7 Habits for Highly Effective Simplicity. We passed along what we feel are the top 7 habits you can develop to bring some serious simplicity into your life. That show was shared thousands of times...over 2300 times on our Pinterest page alone! Well, today we’re going to share 3 more. So let’s jump right in! Read More... Note: Get a copy of Supermom vs Super Mom for yourself or gift it to a Mom who needs a little "less" in her life. It's less than $5 and will save you countless hours and effort! Buy Supermom vs Supermom Topic: 3 Simple Living Habits You Can Use Right Now Habit 1: When searching for a solution, start with yourself first. Chances are, just like Dorothy with the ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz, you had the power all along. Tap into resources you already have. Shop in your own closet, pantry, etc… When you work to solve your own problems, you are exercising your innovation muscles! Too often we ask someone else for an answer. At least Google it before you ask. By looking outside yourself, automatically you established a need...a need that didn’t exist. That makes you a consumer instead of a producer and plays right into the hands of the marketing messages we’re subjected to 3-5000 times a day. Habit 2: Often, establishing a simplicity habit involves establishing a framework that helps you deal with things in a predictable manner. Try experimenting with different frameworks to see what works for you! Here are 3 we use: The W-I-N Framework: One I’ve been using more and more lately is the WIN framework. WIN stands for “What’s Important Now” and Vanessa first heard about it in Greg McKeown's excellent book Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. The Eisenhauer Matrix Framework: You’ve probably seen this one before, but just imagine a simple foursquare matrix. The vertical axis plots importance and the horizontal axis plots urgency. So if you picture the four squares, the top/left square is Box 1, Urgent & Important box. The top right is Box 2, Less Urgent & Important. Box 3 on the bottom/left is Less Important & Urgent. And finally, Box 4, Less Important & Less urgent, is on the bottom/right. The folks over at Eisenhauer.me did a great little video: Isn’t that the truth! “What is important is seldom urgent and what is urgent is seldom important.” The S.I.M.P.L.E. Method of Organizing Framework: Another framework is Vanessa's S.I.M.P.L.E. Method© of organizing which she breaks down in great detail in her book Super Mom vs Supermom: Simplicity Tips for Busy Moms Here’s an outline: Strategize: • What are your needs? • How do you want your space to look, feel, and function like? Identify: • What’s working? • What’s not working? • What are your limitations of the space? • Draw or take pictures of the space. • Take measurements. Make Piles: • Clear your space one area at a time. • Work from left to right and top to bottom. • Sort into general categories…like with like. • Don’t edit yet! Make the piles first to see what and how much you have. Pare Down and Edit: • After you make piles then tackle one pile at a time…one item at a time. • Decide: Do I USE it? Do I LOVE it? Do I NEED it? • If yes…KEEP it! • If no…LET it GO! • When you’re done editing, remove unwanted and unneeded items immediately! Let's Organize: • Assign zones. • Keep like items with like items. • Put it where you use it. • Put frequently used items within arms reach. • Make sure things are easy to get to…think accessibility; open bins, simple systems, etc. • Don’t compromise safety for organization. • Use containers and containers within containers. • Label, label, label! Evaluate and Maintain: • Establish routines. • Develop habits.
