Another month of horror means another Skewer of glory. erica dreisbach hosted the whole affair like a champion as she summarized the month's news both good and bad. Kevin Johnson hosted the Skewer's delightful and extremely hard fake news quiz. Onicia Muller told the harrowing story of Sint Maarten, her home now devastated by Hurricane Irma. Joe Anderson showed us how the bumbling dopes of Equifax gathered power by being weird shitty creeps. Gwynn Fulcher showed us the path to a better world made of metal: Unicron, God of Chaos. And Tom Harrison and Cody Melcher squared off in the Skewer debate, deciding once and for all the best way for athletes to disrespect the flag: wear flag underpants on the outside or squat and grimace during the National Anthem. The Skewer is like an ever-fixed star of satirical excellence and this edition was no different. PLUS, we raised over $250 dollars for Puerto Rico, so that rules. You can find all 1,549 Gor novels in the basement of your local “that guy”.    'Plunder of Gor' (Gorean Saga Book 34)  by John Norman    A mysterious package lies unclaimed somewhere in the great port of Brundisium, and it is rumored that its contents could determine the fate of a world. Whether or not that is true, one thing is certain: Men and beasts will kill to claim it.    Meanwhile, a young woman, now merchandise, has been brought to the slave markets of Gor after displeasing a stranger in her secretarial job back on Earth. Unbeknownst to her, she holds the key to finding the elusive package—and changing the course of history forever.    Inspired by works like Edgar Rice Burroughs’s John Carter of Mars novels and Robert E. Howard’s Almuric, this adventure series—alternatively referred to by several names including the Chronicles of Counter-Earth or the Saga of Tarl Cabot—has earned a devoted following for its richly detailed world building, erotic themes, and mash-up of science fiction, fantasy, history, and philosophy.   Show Notes:   Previous Episodes:  Gwynn: 41. We're yammering about anime again because all podcasters are incurable nerds! Tom tricked friends of the show Gwynn Fulcher and erica dreisbach into watching Kill La Kill, a one-season anime about high school, fascism, nudity, sentient alien clothing, friendship, and murdering people with scissors. It is a POLARIZING PIECE OF WORK TO SAY THE LEAST, with exceptional writing for well-rounded women characters on one hand, and absurdly revealing magic battle armor on the other. Is it feminist? Is it sexist trash? IS IT BOTH? Tom was extremely hyped to hear erica and Gwynn weigh in and now YOU CAN TOO! This is a very fun one, check it out! P.S.: You can see erica's lavishly illustrated notes here, and I highly recommend you take a look: http://tinyurl.com/YDUKLK
