Tune in here to this Tuesday edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking about Luigi Mangione officially being charged for the murder of United Healthcare CEO, Brian Thompson. The public school system is failing the youth and the country at large, they are molding the next generation into low information extremists with manifestos. We live in a country that allows the citizens and their representatives to change society via laws, we cannot allow our country to become one that is changed through violence. Beth Troutman from Good Morning BT is also here for this Tuesday's episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Beth talk about roasted chestnuts, figgy pudding, and other Christmas foods. Beth also shares what she and Bo have coming up tomorrow on Good Morning BT! Listen here for all of this and more on The Brett Winterble Show! For those devoted to the Rosicrucian tradition, Christopher McIntosh needs no introduction. In this conversation, Rudolf brings us closer to the man behind the foundational works that have shaped our understanding of Rosicrucianism. His books—The Rosicrucians, The Rose Cross and the Age of Reason, and his recent Rosicrucian Trilogy containing new translations of the original three Manifestos—stand as indispensable guides through the movement's rich history and symbolic mysteries. McIntosh, a widely respected speaker on Rosicrucianism's historical context, now opens a more personal window into the motivations and philosophies that drive his work, demonstrating how his passion for these mysteries can continue to inspire seekers today. In perfect timing with Pansopher's recent relaunch, McIntosh unveils a deeply personal narrative that intertwines with the cultural and spiritual backdrop of Germany—expanding his focus to explore the often-overlooked roots of the German occult tradition. In his latest book, Occult Germany, he draws on three decades of personal experience living in Germany to reveal the subtle influences and hidden currents that have helped shaped modern occultism. In this conversation, McIntosh offers his perspective on how these forces have worked behind the scenes, nurturing the esoteric landscape in ways that are both illuminating and unexpected. Exploring Germany's rich contributions to alchemy, theosophy, and Rosicrucianism, McIntosh brings us even deeper, turning to the often-overlooked realms of German folk and pagan traditions. This area, rarely discussed in esoteric circles—especially given the cultural aftermath of WWII—emerges here as a key influence on modern occultism. McIntosh unpacks the enduring legacy of German Romanticism, Wagner's mythic visions, the Grail legends, and figures like Gustav Meyrink, all of whom contribute to the rich and largely untold story of Germany's spiritual heritage. Music played in this episode In context with the content of our talk, the music for this episode is German - but from VERY different times and styles. MAN-MADE MANIFESTOS, Part 2 of Chapter 6 of The Church and The Priesthood Page 80 to 98 Was the Manifesto a Revelation? There are certain criteria that can be used in determining whether or not something is a revelation from God. Probably the easiest one to recognize is when it contains the words, “Thus saith the Lord.” In the Doctrine and Covenants there are 64 “thus saith the Lord” revelations. The rest may be revelations, but should more correctly be considered pronouncements or statements. The Bible has over 450 “thus saith the Lord” revelations immediately identifying the true Author of the statements. For over a century historians have looked, without success, for indications that the Manifesto could be considered a revelation from God.
MAN-MADE MANIFESTOS, Part 1 of Chapter 6 of The Church and The Priesthood Page 66 to 79 In 1890 the LDS Church, its members and the Priesthood experienced perhaps their greatest trials and testing. But in this life good and evil are continually pitted against each other. The world appears to be a great theatrical stage where universal powers are reaching out for the souls of men. It is not just a battle of armies and navies, but a contest of simple principles. The battle reaches from the throne of kings down to the secret and sacred chambers of the heart. It is an eternal conflict drawing men towards celestial light or the depths of darkness. If God has apostles, missionaries and a priesthood, so does the devil. Once again they were to meet in a clash–not of arms but of principles. Once again these were “the times that tried men's souls.” Some of the faithful were sent to prison, [67] while others compromised. A few even turned against their beliefs and became informants and persecutors. It was a time of decision on all levels–a time when the Church leaders felt they had to make some official declaration in an effort to bring temporal relief.

Burn It Down: Feminist Manifestos for the Revolution (Verso, 2020), Breanne Fahs has curated a comprehensive collection of feminist manifestos from the nineteenth century to today. Fahs collected over seventy-five manifestos from around the world, calling on feminists to act, be defiant and show their rage. This thought-provoking and timely collection includes not only popular manifestos often taught in women and gender studies courses, but also introduces readers to works from feminist activists who are often placed on the margins. The eight sections of the book cover manifestos from a wide range of feminist activist spectrums: queer/trans, anticapitalist/anarchist, angry/violent, indigenous/women of color, sex/body, hacker/cyborg, trashy/punk, and witchy/bitchy. Fahs has put together a collection that has something for everyone and that is a must-need on every feminist bookshelf. Rebekah Buchanan is an Associate Professor of English at Western Illinois University. She researches zines, zine writers and the influence of music subcultures and fandom on writers and narratives. All week we've been looking at party manifestos and politicians' pledges on food and farming. We've head from the Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats - today we round up what the other parties are offering the countryside. We meet a family of flower growers in Cornwall who've been farming in the Tamar Valley for half a century. Barry Richards built his first glasshouses in the 1970s before the flower market became dominated by imports which pushed many British flower growers out of business. However the Richards have diversified to become importers and distributors. They've massively increased the number of varieties they produce and now grow all year round. This year's wet weather means farmers are seeing hemlock in places they wouldn't usually see the plant. It's extremely poisonous for animals and people. Agronomists say it's highly unlikely it will get into the food chain, but say farmers need to be vigilant.Presenter = Caz Graham Producer = Rebecca Rooney

In this new and improved episode of the IEA Podcast, hosts Tom Clougherty and Matthew Lesh as host and co-host, they are joined by Kristian Niemietz, IEA Editorial Director, to dissect the recently released party manifestos for the upcoming general election. The team delves into the parties' approaches to tax and spend, planning systems, the National Health Service, and regulation in general. They critically examine the similarities and differences between the major parties' proposals, highlighting the lack of substantial new ideas and the risk-averse nature of most manifestos. The discussion reveals the challenges in implementing meaningful change, particularly in areas like housing reform and NHS improvements. The hosts explore the potential impact of regulatory proposals that often go unscrutinised compared to tax and spend plans, and touch on the Reform Party's unique healthcare proposals and the broader implications of manifesto promises for the UK's economic future. Our goal is to bring you a public affairs podcast with a difference. We want to get beyond the headlines and the shallow political commentary you'll get elsewhere and focus instead on the big ideas and foundational principles that classical liberals should care about.

With the rain continuing and below average temperatures, the outlook isn't so sunny for UK salad growers. We look at some of the detail in the main parties' manifestos to see what they're promising on issues like the agriculture budget, food security and England's badger cull. Sometimes described as a farmer's best friend, dung beetles consume, bury and break up dung, improving soils as they go. Earlier this month vets and farmers met at a conference in Somerset devoted to the dung beetle. Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
As the General Election continues, Ele Theochari and Robert Salter dig into some of the detail of the parties' manifestos, looking at the quirks, hiccups and challenges they contain. They also look at IR35 and a new process for reporting unethical R&D advisors to HMRC.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Mid-Atlantic - conversations about US, UK and world politics
In this episode of Mid Atlantic, host Roifield Brown leads a discussion with an expert panel featuring Ira Shapiro, Aram Fisher, Steve O'Neill, Tonye Altrade, and Michael Donoghue. The main focus is on the launch of the UK party manifestos and the impact they may have as the general election approaches. The panelists examine key pledges from the Conservative, Labour, and Liberal Democrat parties, analysing their potential influence on voters. The discussion also covers recent events in US politics, including President Joe Biden's response to his son Hunter Biden's conviction and the significance of a recent meeting between Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump. The panelists debate the implications of these developments and the broader state of American politics as the 2024 election season heats up.Key QuotesSteve O'Neill on UK Party Manifestos: "The thing with manifestos, they are in some way shopping lists of policies, but they also tell a story. Labour's manifesto tries to tell a story about the kind of government Keir Starmer wants to run."Tonye Altrade on the Conservative Manifesto: "There was no story whatsoever I could glean from the Conservative manifesto. It was a ramshackle of different things, some bold, some pandering to far-right wingers."Mike Donoghue on US Politics: "It's a brutal time to be an incumbent president. When you've got a country that seems angry, divided, depressed, they tend to blame the incumbent for everything."Ira Shapiro on Mitch McConnell and Trump: "McConnell staying with Trump despite their differences shows the extent of partisanship. It's clear McConnell will support the nominee, no matter who it is."Aram Fisher on Biden's Strategy: "Biden has taken steps to re-engage with black voters, appearing alongside Kamala Harris in Philadelphia. How effective this will be remains to be seen, but it's a crucial part of his campaign strategy." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
