Driven by powerful winds, the fire raged for days. The historian Tacitus describes a chaotic scene filled with screams and citizens running for their lives. In the end, nearly two-thirds of Rome had been destroyed by the ad 64 blaze. The Roman emperor Nero falsely accused believers in Jesus of starting the fire. He hated Christians and selected them to be the scapegoat for the disaster—one that was rumored to have been ordered by Nero himself! Nehemiah also faced the blistering heat of false accusation. He’d been a servant to the king of Persia but was allowed to return to Jerusalem with other Israelites to repair its walls (Nehemiah 2:1-10). When the wall was repaired, however, enemies accused the Israelites of “planning to rebel” and making Nehemiah “their king” (6:6 nlt). How did they respond to false accusations? By declaring and living out their innocence (v. 8), courageously standing in God’s power (v. 11), and praying fervently to God (v. 14). Their enemies were ultimately “frightened and humiliated” as they “realized [the wall reconstruction] had been done with the help of . . . God” (v. 16). At times, we’ll be falsely accused by others in this life. But as God provides the strength we need, we can forgive our accusers and “live such good lives” that, though “they accuse [us] of doing wrong, they may see [our] good deeds and glorify God” (1 Peter 2:12).

Thomas Jefferson publishes "Logan's Lament" to argue against French theories of Americaninferiority, but in doing so, he canonizes the false accusation against the Cresap family. This sparks a bitter feud with Luther Martin, a Cresap in-law, who attacks Jefferson to clear the family name. Despite the controversy, the lament becomes a staple in American education through McGuffey Readers because its tragic final line, "Who is there to mourn for Logan?", resonates with the 19th-century political narrative of the "vanishing Indian" and the concept of the "noble savage." Pulled into the streets at a young age, Nesto became involved in a string of robberies that led to his arrest and time on Rikers Island, where he faced violence, chaos, and the reality of New York's jail system before taking a 3.5-year plea deal. Hours after he went to bed, senior MPs gathered behind his house and colleagues woke him at 2:45 AM—an entry a DMV judge would later label a Fourth Amendment violation.  We trace the aftermath: suspension, relief, and a permanently filed GOMOR before any federal charge; no AR 15-6 despite conflicts; and video the government held that undercut its narrative. Tony describes why he refused chemical tests, what happened in the station, and how leaders leaned on “legally sufficient” while ignoring common sense. In court, a jury acquitted him of DWI and disorderly conduct, leaving only a stop-sign violation. A Grade Determination Review Board kept his O6 retirement. His FTCA claim and GOMOR appeal continue.  This is a candid inside view of military justice shaped by command-level turf fights, MP overreach, and leaders outsourcing judgment to legal advisors.    Slam The Gavel welcomes Steve DeVore, Travis Nicholson and Terri Parker to the podcast. They came on to discuss a young man sitting in jail, on taxpayer dollars for a false accusation made during divorce.     The mayhem began in January of 2021 when Jamey DiDomenico, a loving DAD and devoted husband suddenly discovered incriminating text messages on an iPad that their four year-old had been using. The messages from an unknown man suggested an affair between Jamey's wife and one of her alleged clients. Troubled, Jamey photographed the messages and confronted his wife. She denied the allegations and instantly asked for a divorce. Days before their divorce depositions, she ACCUSED Jamey of SA.      The accusation triggered a dangerous chain of events. His wife obtained an order of protection, citing UNFOUNDED fears, which led to Jamey being thrown out of his home with only 30 minutes to gather his belongings. Jamey and his son, from a previous relationship, were barred from returning and Jamey also lost custody of his daughter. By November 23rd, 2023, Jamey went to trial on the false charges. DESPITE 125 letters attesting to his honesty and character and the presence of over 150 SUPPORTERS in court, the trial was held in the SAME courthouse where his ex-wife practiced law. THIS RESULTED IN A WRONGFUL CONVICTION.     No evidence of violence was presented, only conflicting accounts, but the judge sentenced Jamey to 10 years WITHOUT parole.     Slam the Gavel welcomes Darla Hall to the podcast. Darla Hall came onto the podcast to share the story of her son, Nicholas Hall who was recently sentenced to 21 years in prison in Connecticut. Their nightmare began in 2020 when ALLEGATIONS surfaced just weeks after a custody dispute with his then-wife.      One alleged victim later confirmed nothing ever happened, yet Nicholas Hall was still prosecuted AND from the very beginning, his case has been marked by conflicts of interest, COLLUSION, improper rulings, suppression of evidence and POWERFUL political CONNECTIONS that cast doubt on the FAIRNESS of his trial.    In February 2025, Nicholas Hall was convicted on four of six counts, though not on the most serious of charges.
