Delicious in Dungeon might seem out of left field for the studio that put out shows like Kill La Kill and Cyberpunk Edgerunners, but it's just something from the studio that also made Little Witch Academia. In one of the greatest multiversal crossovers of all time, Katy from the One Piece holiday episodes joins the gang to talk about Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma, an anime that rivals Kill La Kill in fan service while also providing some absolute gourmet perfection on screen. But do not be fooled - this show is not just gratuitous moaning and literal foodgasms, it's actually really good, with solid character arcs and excellent plot progression that caters to even Iris's finer tastes. And you can't say that this show didn't move anyone in a major way - Marcus is planning to make his very own chaliapin steak pretty soon. Content warning: SPOILERS, strong language.

We're a little past the holiday, but who's really listening to podcasts on Christmas anyway? We're of course finally bringing an end to our Kill La Kill advent calendar, and giving you our blow by blow of the action packed completely ludicrous last four episodes of the show. They pack a ton into the conclusion of what is ultimately a classic for a reason, and we've got our coverage of the whole thing as well as our final impressions of that. But before we get into that we're taking a look back at the year in general, our favorite titles, some major news, unexpected gems, and even a couple of disappointments. 2022 was a pretty stacked year for anime on the whole, but what were your favorite parts? We also have kind of an odd last week's one big thing you'll have to tune in to find out about. We'll be doing the awardscast next week at our normal time. Power Rankings live @tjapod on instagram
Erica Mendez, the voice of Gon Freecss in Hunter x Hunter, Ayaka Kamisato in Genshin Impact, Ryuko Matoi in KILL la KILL, Retsuko in Aggretsuko and so many more prolific titles and characters joins us on the show to discuss her life, career, and letting go to find your own unique way in the world of VO. We're almost done with 2022 so we're already taking a look ahead at the upcoming season, and holy crap is there a lot of fantasy titles on offer. We've got previews for a few shows, but we're mostly going off the synopsis on myanimelist and the visuals so we'll see what happens. We've also got three wishes each that will hopefully make the season good if not at least watchable. And finally we've got episodes 13-19 of Kill La Kill, shit is popping off in a major way and we've officially hit the moment where things get weird...er than they already have been. The end of the year is fast approaching so we'll have our awardscast and year end show coming up soon!Power Rankings live @tjapod on instagram
The Quintessential Quintuplets has officially concluded and we were there in person to see how it ends! We had a lovely time seeing the end to Cory's favorite series, but our journey to the theater was maybe not as smooth as it could've been. We've got our take one how everything concluded as well as our somewhat amusing attempt at making it to a 2pm showing of the film. From there we're talking everything from new movies on Crunchyroll to trading card games before rounding out the episode with our Kill La Kill advent calendar. This week we're looking at the first 8 episodes of the series that made everyone aware of how dangerous clothes can really be. Apologies for the weird schedule this week, we'll be back to normal soon we promise!Power Rankings live @tjapod on instagram
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is the love child of Studio Trigger's animation reputation (see our previous episodes on Kill La Kill and Little Witch Academia) and video game studio CD PROJECT RED's longstanding success from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk: 2077, and also it's on Netflix so I guess it's a bit of a triangle. But even if you were disgusted by Kill La Kill's...showmanship...or disappointed with 2077's excessively buggy gameplay on launch, you will be blown away by the emotional throughlines and excellent worldbuilding provided by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It's mature, it's nuanced, it's incredibly faithful to the game and its setting, and it's a wonderful story overall, bolstered further by an excellent soundtrack and Trigger's high-quality animation. Revolution starts it's breath with the dusk; rebellion comes swiftly in the night and the dawn awakens to a changed world. Akame Ga Kill, the manga and show both handle the story in very different routes. The anime, similar to the original Full Metal Alchemist, takes its liberties and creates a fun and enthralling show in which the stakes are forever high and the action is grand. Jack and Edwin share their love and praise for this show, from its modern day anime characters in a monster friendly fantasy world, to its extreme "baddie baddie" in Esdeath, the consequences of rebellion, and yes, the ultimate battle: Kill La Kill vs Akame Ga Kill!!!!
Battles.....Mayhem......Ridiculousness. Studio Trigger since day one had a goal in mind to stretch their limits past the extremes in animation and art. Kill la Kill is definitely a strong debut in a sense that they trusted their very ambitious project which paid off a natural cult following and rise as a top Japanese art studio. Edwin finally checks out one of Jack's top all time favorites as they discuss the tremendous amount of energy this anime has from its very strong stance on anti-conformity and social status to its battle heavy tone and overwhelming amount of epic-ness with the art and music!

There hasn't been a force as recognizable in the anime industry in the last ten years as studio Trigger. They have made a name for themselves for being groundbreaking visionaries of such classics as Gurren Laggan, Kill La Kill, and their most recent theatrical movie, Promare. But none of this would have been possible without the leading auteur Hiroyuki Imaishi. After Dan's failed attempt to ask Mr. Imaishi a question at an Otakon panel, way back in 2019, we decided to take a step back to revisit his directorial debut, Dead Leaves. Join us as we look at this 2005 classic that might have escaped your radar. Review starts at 38:40. https://linktr.ee/Otakuhostclub
