Tras días de sexo y encierro, Sada hace algo inimaginable. Es arrestada en Tokio con el macabro paquete en su poder. Su calma desconcierta a los agentes. 25 de noviembre de 1936: Inicia el juicio. Publica sus memorias por entregas en una revista. Entre 1950 y 1960 desaparece del ojo público. Rechaza entrevistas y ofertas de cine. La fecha exacta de su muerte es desconocida. CBA up 0.7% with insurers better too, QBE up 1.2% and SUN rising 1.5%. REITs still under some pressure. GMG down 0.9%. Wealth managers still struggling from recent fund failure pessimism. HUB down 4.2% and NWL off 2.9%. Industrials generally becalmed, TCL down 0.9% with CPU down 1.8% and SGH falling 0.5%. ORG fell 2.7% with tech struggling. Dans deux mois au plus tard, à la mi-novembre 2025, on connaîtra le nom du successeur de la Française Audrey Azoulay au poste de directeur général de l'Organisation des Nations unies pour l'éducation, la science et la culture (Unesco). Il n'y a que deux candidats en lice et ils sont tous deux africains : le Congolais de Brazzaville Edouard Firmin Matoko et l'Égyptien Khaled El-Enany. Qui va gagner ? Le grand enquêteur et essayiste Abdou Latif Coulibaly a été ministre sénégalais de la Culture de 2017 à 2019, sous la présidence de Macky Sall. En ligne de Dakar, il livre son pronostic. RFI : Quel bilan faites-vous des huit ans d'Audrey Azoulay à la Direction générale de l'Unesco ? Abdou Latif Coulibaly : Oui, je pense qu'elle a fait ce qu'elle pouvait faire par un certain nombre de réalisations qu'elle a faites. Dans le cas d'Audrey Azoulay, je vais citer par exemple les importants travaux de restauration et de reconstruction dans des villes comme Mossoul, dévastées par la guerre. Au nord de l'Irak… Au nord de L'Irak. Mais également, je citerai le cas au Liban. Et en Afrique également, il y a aujourd'hui beaucoup de sites qui ont été promus patrimoine mondial de l'humanité. Elle a également, de ce point de vue, fait beaucoup de choses dans le domaine de l'éducation avec l'Alliance mondiale d'éducation qui est au cœur de la mission de l'Unesco. En tant que ministre sénégalais de la Culture de 2017 à 2019, quel souvenir vous gardez de l'action de l'Unesco ? Vous savez, c'est en 2018, précisément, que le Musée des Civilisations noires a été installé et inauguré définitivement au Sénégal. Et tous les documents qui ont été faits à ce sujet et la démarche qui a été opérée, c'est moi-même, ministre de la Culture, qui a demandé à madame Audrey Azoulay de les transférer à l'Etat du Sénégal à l'occasion de l'inauguration du 6 décembre 2018. Et elle l'a fait avec beaucoup d'enthousiasme. Et également, elle a beaucoup conseillé, à l'époque, le gouvernement sénégalais dans le processus de mise en œuvre et de finalisation de ce musée-là. Et c'est ça qui m'a mis en rapport avec madame Azoulay, qui a beaucoup travaillé de ce point de vue-là à permettre aux Etats africains, et en particulier au Sénégal, de sauvegarder les sites qui sont déjà classés. Ce n'est pas évident quand vous prenez une ville comme Gorée, une ville comme Saint-Louis qui est patrimoine mondial de l'humanité, nous avons beaucoup de difficultés au plan national à trouver les moyens et l'ensemble des outils nécessaires pour que ce caractère de patrimoine universel soit préservé. En cette période très conflictuelle dans le monde, Audrey Azoulay affirme que l'Unesco est un des derniers lieux de consensus pour un multilatéralisme d'action. Est-ce que vous êtes d'accord ou pas ? Oui, je suis d'accord. Ce qui se réalise à l'Unesco aujourd'hui en termes de promotion de l'éducation, de la culture, je pense que s'il n'y avait pas une organisation de cette nature, cela n'aurait pu jamais se produire, ça j'en suis certain. Bon, aujourd'hui, nous les Africains, nous avons deux candidats qui se présentent. Il y a le Congolais Edouard Firmin Matoko et l'Égyptien Khaled El-Enany, qui sont actuellement en compétition. Quel que soit le candidat qui sera élu, je pense que l'intérêt pour l'Afrique, c'est que le travail qui est aujourd'hui engagé, qui l'avait été d'ailleurs bien avant elle, mais qu'elle a su consolider et qu'elle a su élargir en intégrant davantage beaucoup de pays dans le processus de prise de décision, mais également dans les activités qui sont menées… Je pense que c'est cela qui est le plus important. Et je pense que pour ce qui concerne les candidats africains, leurs déclarations rassurent de ce point de vue-là. Est-ce qu'ils auront tous les moyens pour le faire ? Je ne suis pas sûr, mais le maximum qu'ils feront, ce sera au bénéfice de l'Afrique et des pays en voie de développement. Alors justement, entre les deux candidats, le Congolais de Brazzaville Edouard Firmin Matoko et l'Égyptien Khaled El-Enany, quel est, à votre avis, celui qui est le plus apte à tenir la barre de l'Unesco dans les prochaines années ?   Je pense que tous les deux sont aptes pour le faire. Ce sont des techniciens de très haut niveau. Le Congolais, qui a un très long séjour à l'Unesco, il dit « moi, je suis l'Unesco », pour dire sa compétence et pour dire également l'efficacité qu'il pourrait apporter à l'organisation. Mais il y a également l'Égyptien qui bénéficie déjà du soutien de l'Union africaine, je pense qu'il est assez bien placé, probablement, peut-être, je dis bien peut-être, pour gagner. Qui est le mieux placé ? Je pense que tous les deux ont les compétences pour ça. Je ne peux pas dire qui est le mieux placé, mais enfin, le pedigree des deux rassure par rapport à leurs capacités à diriger l'Unesco. Vous avez une petite préférence quand même, non ? Préférence comme telle… Je n'ai pas de préférence, parce que je considère pour ma part que tous les deux pourraient être bien à cette place-là. Même si je constate que l'Egyptien bénéficie de beaucoup de soutien diplomatique à travers le monde, il faut l'accepter. En Asie, dans les pays arabes. Mais malheureusement, ça va conduire à un affrontement bloc africain contre bloc africain, c'est clair. Mais même si l'Union africaine aujourd'hui soutient officiellement la candidature de l'Égyptien, il me semble que ce combat ne manquera pas de se poser.

GOR issued a production downgrade and fell 0.3%. Lithium stocks perked up, MIN up 3.2% and PLS being squeezed higher again, up 9.1%. VUL had a great run as shorts covered too, up 11.7%. Mixed in uranium with PDN up 1.8% and BOE flying up 7.9%. Oil and gas stocks showing limited gains, STO up 0.9%. In corporate news, EHL raced ahead on bid speculation. Pracował jednak inaczej, a zakres obowiązków i ich ciężaru zależał od zamożności. W XVII wieku naprawdę opływających w bogactwa jest w Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów niedużo: bogata szlachta to około 1,2 % społeczeństwa, a magnateria 0,3%. Jeśli chodzi o podział w samej tej warstwie społecznej, to około 20% szlachciców nie posiadało w ogóle ziemi, to była tak zwana gołota. Kolejnych 40% to szlachta zagrodowa, szlachcice, którzy ziemię wprawdzie mają, ale bez poddanych, sami zajmują się jej uprawą. – To znaczy, że większość, 60% szlachty, żyje tak naprawdę podobnie jak chłopi – opowiada dr Orzeł. – My często mamy ten obraz szlachcica tego bogatego w głowie, nie myślimy o tym, że zdecydowana większość szlachty wiodła życie bardzo biedne.„Wszystko, co mam, odziedziczyłem sam, a całą resztę osiągnąłem ciężką pracą własnych chłopów” – mówi serialowy Jan Paweł (tak, tak, oczywiście odnosimy się też do serialu „1670”!), co stawia go w wąskim gronie szlachty zamożniejszej. Taki szlachcic, posiadacz wsi (lub większej połowy) zajmował się zarządzaniem swoimi włościami. Nie wypadało, by szlachcic parał się rzemiosłem lub handlem. W razie wojny szlachcic oczywiście ruszał z zaciągiem, by walczyć. Czas wypełniało mu też pełnienie funkcji politycznych, czy to na szczeblu lokalnym, czy (w przypadku najzamożniejszych i najbardziej wpływowych) na szczeblu państwowym.Sytuacja szlachcianek mocno zależała od tego, w jak zamożnej rodzinie się urodziły. – Nie było czegoś takiego jak singielstwo. Albo było się żoną czyjąś, albo się szło do klasztoru – mówi dr Orzeł. A decyzja najczęściej zapadała jeszcze zanim dziewczynka weszła na rynek matrymonialny. Jeśli córek było więcej, od razu wiadomo było, że któraś pójdzie do klasztoru – to taniej niż szykować posag. W wyjątkowej pozycji były tylko wdowy. – Wdowa nabierała prawnych przywilejów takich jak mężczyzna – wyjaśnia historyczka. Sama decydowała o swoim majątku, o ewentualnym drugim zamążpójściu, reprezentowała siebie w sądach. To zakres swobód niedostępny dla szlacheckiej żony czy tym bardziej córki. Synowie też nie mieli pełnej wolności, podobnie jak z córkami – praktyczniej było wysłać któregoś z synów na księdza, bo zmniejszało to rozdrobnienie majątku.Z odcinka dowiecie się też, czym był w szlacheckim domu kredens i dlaczego w drodze do niego ubywało potraw, czy opisywane w źródłach imprezy (bywało grubo) to był szlachecki standard, jaką powieść przeczytać, żeby poznać realia życia szlachty w Rzeczpospolitej Obojga Narodów (bynajmniej nie Sienkiewicza – zdaniem dr Orzeł) i za co cenili Rzeczpospolitą podróżnicy z innych krajów. Entre humidité, matériaux inadaptés et manque de financements, entretenir et restaurer ces édifices s'avère un véritable défi.  De notre correspondante à Dakar,  Chaque jour, les chaloupes venues de Dakar déversent leur flot de visiteurs sur l'île de Gorée. Ils viennent admirer ses ruelles paisibles, vestiges de l'époque coloniale. Certaines maisons datent du XVIIIe ou du XIXe siècle. Mais derrière la carte postale, de nombreux bâtiments tombent en ruine. C'est le cas de l'immense palais du gouverneur. « Les murs en pierre sont montés à la chaux. Mais quand on les répare avec du ciment, ça ne tient pas… Avec l'humidité, ça se dégrade. Et il n'y a pas d'entretien », regrette Xavier Ricou, architecte et conseiller municipal à Gorée. Beaucoup de bâtiments appartiennent à l'État qui manque de moyens pour assurer la restauration de son patrimoine. Une solution serait donc de nouer des partenariats avec des investisseurs privés. Certains aimeraient transformer le palais du gouverneur en hôtel de luxe, mais les discussions sont bloquées. « Les investisseurs demandent qu'on leur cède aussi l'ancien hôpital voisin. Mais ce bâtiment est occupé par des squatteurs qu'on ne peut pas expulser », affirme l'architecte. Xavier Ricou réclame un véritable plan de sauvegarde pour l'île de Gorée – qui figurait sur la toute première liste du patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco en 1978 – à l'image de ceux exigés aujourd'hui pour les nouveaux sites inscrits. En attendant, il restaure patiemment sa maison familiale, qui date de 1880. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a so-called ‘Maryland dad' was sent to an El Salvador prison and brought back to the U.S. today by AG Pam Bondi to face criminal charges. Despite evidence of his crimes, including human trafficking and domestic violence, Democrats, media, and some judges defended him, claiming Trump acted dictatorially and that Garcia lacked due process. They lied; he got due process with an immigration judge and an immigration board. Senators Chris Van Hollen and his Democrats still publicly supported him. How will we ever get this country under control given that the Democrat Party hates America?  Rep Jamie Raskin argues that even under the Alien Enemies Act, due process is necessary, referencing a D.C. Circuit judge who noted that Nazi saboteurs in the U.S. during World War II received due process hearings as a historical precedent for legal fairness. This is the example that Raskin uses? The Nazis had a trial and were executed in less than 3 months.  Also, the FBI and DHS are highlighting threats to Jewish and Israeli communities. It's interesting all the violence goes one way. You don't see Jews trying to kill Palestinians. This is what open borders and the Democrat party gets you. Afterward, there's a hit piece out on the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office Sergio Gor. The piece claims that Gor influenced Trump to withdraw Jared Isaacman's nomination as NASA administrator, allegedly to target Elon Musk, who recommended Isaacman. However, the withdrawal stemmed from Isaacman's donations to Democrats, including $100,000 to a Schumer-aligned PAC, $50,000 to Josh Shapiro's campaign, and other Democratic contributions, with no support for Trump until after the election. This background made Isaacman unsuitable for a key role in a Republican administration.  Later, Iran reportedly ordered thousands of tons of ballistic missile components from China, potentially enabling the production of around 800 missiles. Iran is stalling nuclear negotiations with the U.S. while bolstering its missile capabilities and supplying groups like the Houthis in Yemen.  These actions, supported by China, are efforts to undermine Israel and Western interests.  Finally, Mark honors the 81st anniversary of D-Day. The year of the stitch up has had a couple of misfires for Dave's picks, with Chris unfortunately declaring Cloud City's for both sword and sorcery adventures - Gor and The Barbarians. So this is the time to roll out the cult classic sci-fi movie from 1984, Trancers.Trancers was a low-budget sci-fi film produced by Charles Band's Empire Pictures, a company known for its B-movie output during the 1980s. Directed by Charles Band and written by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo, the film was conceived as a time-traveling noir with a futuristic twist, inspired by Blade Runner and classic detective stories. The production had limited financial resources, so the filmmakers cleverly set much of the movie in present-day Los Angeles rather than the distant future, allowing them to save on costly futuristic sets and effects. The film starred Tim Thomerson as the grizzled, time-traveling cop Jack Deth and a young Helen Hunt in one of her early roles. Despite its modest budget, Trancers managed to craft a unique cyberpunk atmosphere using creative cinematography and neon-lit cityscapes.Empire Pictures, known for churning out cult classics, ensured the movie had a quick and efficient production, utilizing familiar locations and a mix of practical effects to bring its sci-fi elements to life. Gor is a planet, a counter Earth, that sits in orbit at the opposite side of the Sun to the Earth we inhabit. And on the Vernal Equinox, this marks the New Year for most Gorean cities. This is the kind of sci-fi, fantasy sword and sorcery that Chris despises, and Dave loves. So it's only right that Dave's pick to see us into the new year would be Gor! But there might be a wildcard in this 1987 loose adaptation which has the review for this much maligned Canon picture going a different way. The making of Gor (1987) was a quintessential Cannon Films production—big ambitions, tiny budget, and just a dash of chaos. Helmed by Fritz Kiersch (the bloke behind Children of the Corn), the film aimed to bring John Norman's Gorseries to life. Now, Norman's books are… let's say “divisive,” so the filmmakers wisely ditched the dodgy bits and went all-in on the swords, sandals, and overly shiny chest plates. Shot in South Africa, the production made the most of the sweeping landscapes, though "epic fantasy" occasionally veered into "amateur cosplay." Still, it had that scrappy Cannon charm, the kind of vibe that screams, "This'll look brilliant on VHS!" As for the cast, it was a mixed bag. Urbano Barberini and Rebecca Ferratti led the charge, while Oliver Reed—bless him—turned up to chew scenery like it owed him money. Rumor has it Reed's off-camera antics were just as entertaining as what made it into the final cut. The costumes looked like a sale at the world's least practical armour shop, and the effects… well, let's just say they tried. Despite the shoestring budget and dodgy execution, Gor carved out a weird little niche for itself among fantasy film enthusiasts, probably because it's so delightfully bonkers. It's the sort of film you stick on late at night with a few mates and some questionable snacks, knowing full well you're in for some glorious nonsense.
