Pull up a bowl of your favorite sugar cereal and get ready for an episode where Laura Donahue Brady (Dedication: Fans Remember The Bay City Rollers Podcast) and me talk about the famous (or perhaps infamous) Bay City Rollers Show (aka The Krofft Superstar Hour)! What happens when you combine one of the biggest teen pop groups with the likes of Witchiepoo, Stupid Bat, and Mr. Munchie?  A Saturday morning kids' show with the music of the Bay City Rollers and crazy comedy skits that was so over the top, the lead singer left the band as soon as the show filmed it's last episode! But there was some fun to be had in re-watching these classic shows featuring Scotland's greatest export next to Sean Connery, The Bay City Rollers, and Laura and me certainly had fun re-living our respective memories of this classic piece of Saturday morning schtick.

I 1975 bhí rúndacht ordaithe I bhfiosrúchán a bhí ann faoin gharda óg a chuaigh ar iarradh mar níor chonaic aon duine é. I 2003 chuir Bertie Ahern agus Tony Blair cheist ar an IRA chun teacht amach leis an tsoiléireacht dá ghealltanas do shíocháin. I 2010 bhí a lán áiteanna chun dul don deireadh seachtain – bhí seó ómóis de Father Ted san Aonach Urmhumhan, bhí Mike Denver ag canadh agus chomh maith bhí Craobh na hÉirinn den Karaoke ar siúil sa teach tábhairne Talbot. Stuart Murdoch is my guest on this episode of That's How I Remember It. Stuart is the lead singer and songwriter of classic band Belle & Sebastian, who have consistently released amazing music since the mid '90s. He's now also the author of a great new novel Nobody's Empire, which mirrors his own personal experiences with chronic fatigue syndrome in the time leading up to the formation of B&S. We talked about that as well as Abba, Bay City Rollers, Come on Eileen, CS Lewis, writing letters to Quentin Crisp, Inland taipans, and so much more. It was a thrill for me to have Stuart on the show, I'm a huge fan, and I think we had a great talk. Listen and subscribe!

This episode delves into the disturbing allegations against Tam Paton, the former manager of the Bay City Rollers, and how his actions severely impacted the band members and tarnished the legacy of the iconic '70s group. Using excerpts from an STV News documentary, Paton's Wikipedia entry, and a 2009 obituary from The Independent, the story uncovers a pattern of exploitation, manipulation, and systemic abuse within Paton's sphere. Accounts from victims, including band members Les McKeown and Pat McGlynn, highlight their traumatic experiences under Paton's control. The episode also discusses other known abusers in Paton's circle, alongside Paton's minimal legal repercussions, to shed light on the broader issues of abuse and exploitation in the music industry, emphasising the importance of giving a voice to the victims.Tom and Simon will discuss this and the rest of this weeks episode in this Sunday's episode.00:00 Introduction to the Bay City Rollers00:16 Unveiling the Dark Side: Tam Paton Allegations01:09 Tam Paton's Early Life and Rise02:00 The Carefully Crafted Image of the Bay City Rollers02:38 Disturbing Revelations from the STV Documentary04:01 Les McKeown's Tragic Story05:00 Pat McGlynn's Harrowing Experience05:54 The Dark Side of Fame: Addiction and Struggles06:29 Dismissal and Denial: Paton's Reaction06:50 Uncovering a Network of Abuse07:14 The BBC Connection: More Disturbing Revelations07:37 Exploitation for Fame: The Chris Denning Incident07:59 A Pattern of Abuse: Convictions and Consequences08:38 A Legacy of Darkness: Paton's Final Years09:26 Unanswered Questions and Final Thoughts Hosted on Acast. RETRO RHLSTP #87 - I've Never Stabbed Anyone…Oh No, I Have. - A tired and possibly ill Richard Herring tries to get through another podcast without vomiting on his guest, the disaster-magnet that is Janey Godley. She talks candidly about marrying the son of a Glasgow gangster, her many family tragedies and how she survived them plus how Jerry Sadowitz was almost killed at one of his first gigs, what she'd like to do with Roland Gift, witnessing horrific accidents and heart-warming scenes from daily life. Plus the Bay City Rollers, Vesta curries, working with your daughter, performing in a prison and that wonderful moment when you forget that you've stabbed someone. Some truly incredible stories from this brilliantly funny, mildly terrifying, but ultimately rather lovely woman. The Patrick Coffin Show | Interviews with influencers | Commentary about culture | Tools for transformation

In this commentary episode of the Patrick coffin show, Patrick does a review of the players and principles surrounding the bull's eye of the target known as Sean “Diddy” Combs, arrested last month by Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and William S. Walker, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations.   Diddy was charged with a three-count indictment for racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.     But this case is not about celebrity gossip or the downfall of one or two bad apples.    It is a revelation of the depth of depravity and denial that has always characterized the entertainment industry. The Diddy indictment alleges that between 2008 and 2024, he abused, threatened, and coerced women and others, and led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes.   In the Hollyweird orbit of Epsteins and Weinsteins, why would a Combs indictment for similar behavior shock us? There are more questions to be asked.   Topics covered in this episode:   Why is no one talking about the “family tree” of mentorship and manipulation by the man who discovered Diddy, R&B producer Andre Harrell, and the man who discover Harrell—the creepy self-described bisexual Clive Davis, founder of Arista Records. How did Diddy's career really start? The litany of people connected to Diddy who showed up dead or seriously ill, like ex-girlfriend Kim Porter, JayZ's pregnant mistress Cathy White, singer Aaliyah, and radio host Wendy Williams. Former insiders to follow: R&B singer Jaguar Wright, comedian Katt Williams, and former Diddy bodyguard Gene Deal. Troubled rappers connected to Diddy: JayZ, Drake, Usher, 50 cent, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls (aka the Notorious BIG), R. Kelly   Rappers are black proxies for largely non-black owners, who seem always to escape justice   Puff Combs' Bay Boy Records (owned by BMG, sold to Sony in 2008, CEO Rob Stringer; Travis Scott's Cactus Jack Records, distributed by Epic Records, owned by Sony Music Entertainment, CEO Rob Stringer; Drake's OVO Sound, an imprint of Warner Records from its formation until 2022, CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck; Tyler, The Creator, Odd Future Records, parent company, Sony Music Entertainmen, CEO Rob Stringer; Legendary DEF JAM records, parent company Universal Music Group, CEO Sir Lucian Grainge; Jay Z's Rock a Fella Records, owned by Universal Music Group, CEO is Sir Lucian Grainge; 50 Cent's G-Unit Records, owned by Universal Music Group, CEO Sir Lucian Grainge; Usher and Justin Bieber's RBMG Island Def Jam Music Group, run by Tunji Balogun, but the parent company is Universal Music Group, CEO Sir Lucian Grainge; Yo Gotti's Collective Music Group CMG, owned by parent company, Universal Music Group, CEO Lucian Grainge; Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, and distributed through Interscope Records, CEO Sir Sir Lucian Grainge (Dickon Stainer in the UK)   The grandaddy of all the non black music executives is Clive Davis, the main puppet master of Diddy, and the man who launched careers dating back to the 60s, from Tony Orlando, the Bay City Rollers, Aretyha Franklin, Whitney Houston and many others up to: Justin Bieber, perhaps the highest profile troubled artist in this toxic space.

This television appearance opened up a new market in France for Nobby's music, taking him on a detour into French films when in 1980 he composed the film score The Big Sky which can still be heard in French cinema's today. The following three years were spent managing a recording studio and rehearsal rooms in Edinburgh's West Saville Terrace, producing many early recordings for artists who later became successful, including Billy McKenzie from The Associates. After a spell of acting in comedy musicals, such as I'm sorry the bridge is out, you'll have to spend the night and A slice of Saturday night. for which he received a number of complimentary reviews, including the theatrical newspaper, The Stage, Nobby took some time out to concentrate on his personal life, before setting out to write and record his first solo album for many years. The album entitled If Only was arranged and produced by his long time friend David Paton who's own band Pilot achieved world-wide success with songs such as Magic, January and Just a Smile to name but a few. He followed up with Going Home, also produced by David Paton. He now presents his third solo album On The Inside. All three albums contain songs that show Nobby's depth of feeling in his lyrics and haunting melodies. His involvement with other artists has continued, working with Kenny Herbert and Rab Howat on their last two albums 8-1-2-1-9-8-0 (to which Nobby contributed the song Slow Down) and playing harmonica and backing vocals on their latest album Songs of our Lives, produced by David Paton.Nobby's concern for the environment has seen him involved with various groups and committee's investigating the best use of renewable energy in the domestic field. He has been fighting for greener areas, where over the years there has been an erosion of playing fields and open spaces. This is an issue close to Nobby's heart.#rollermaniacs#rollermaniacsuk#Nobbyclark#Baycityrollers#Ghosts#Paranormal#Psychic#Medium#Prostate Cancer#Bronchiectasis#CharcotmarietoothDisease#Emphysema#The after life#Ghosts#Spirts#Ouija boards#Mediums#Psychics#Reincarnation#HeartTransplant#EbsteinsAnomaly#RareCondition#HealthJourney#LifeChangingDiagnosis#MentalHealth#Vulnerability#SelfCompassion#PostTraumaticGrowth#MedicalMiracle#BBCSports#Inspiration#Cardiology#Surgery#Podcast#Healthcare#HeartHealth#MedicalBreakthrough#EmotionalJourney#SupportSystem#HealthcareHeroes#PatientStories#CardiologyCare#MedicalJourney#LifeLessons#MentalWellnessCheck out our new website at www.whostomanddick.com

How do bands get their names?

Send us a textAll bands need a name, but the process of getting that name is different for each band. This episode, we look at how a bunch of well-known bands got their names.  Some are amusing, some are horrifying, some are dark or seedy – be ready for surprises! Our “album you must listen to before you die” is Arc of a Diver, by Stevie Winwood (1980).  This was a formative album during our youth, and with this million-selling album and its hit single “While You See a Chance”, Winwood was a major influence on other people we love, such as Marianne Faithfull.   In Rock News, the major story is that the Gallagher brothers have agreed to reunite as Oasis for a UK tour in 2025. We don't like the odds of the brothers completing the tour without fighting and would like ringside seats! In other news, we look at Nick Cave's new album, Wild God, Bruce Springsteen back on tour, and Neil Young releasing Archives Vol. III, a 17-CD box set featuring 198 tracks.  Wow! References: Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, INXS, Guns n Roses, Bee Gees, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Fleetwood Mac, Joy Division, Nazi camps, 10CC, The Lovin' Spoonful, Steely Dan, The Mothers of Invention, Frank Zappa, The Doobie Brothers, Rammstein, Ramstein air show tragedy, Husker Du, The Velvet Underground, Depeche Mode, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Boris Karloff, The Foo Fighters, The Angels, The Beatles, The Quarrymen, The Silver Beetles, Tony Sheridan & the Beat Brothers, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Pink Floyd, Pink Anderson & Floyd Council, “Oh by the way, which one's Pink?”, Cheap Trick, Slade, ZZ Top, The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Talking Heads, Shakespeare's Sister, The Bay City Rollers, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Tim Staffell, “Smile”, Freddie Mercury, The Band, The Hawks, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Barenaked Ladies, Jethro Tull, U2, The Hype, Beach Boys, The Pendeltons, "Surfin'", Blue Öyster Cult, “On Your Feet or on Your Knees”  Playlist – Band names

Let's wrap up our review of The Krofft Supershow, a super-silly Saturday morning TV show from mad geniuses Sid and Marty Krofft. The second season brought us two weird new segments: Magic Mongo (in which a goofy genie crashes a bikini beach party) and Bigfoot and Wildboy (in which a Sasquatch and a kid with no pants battle aliens and Peter Brady). The show was still hosted by wacky rock band Kaptain Kool and the Kongs, and we also review their appearances on American Bandstand, Donny and Marie, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, and a Saturday Morning preview special with the Bay City Rollers. Of course our favorite Kaptain Kool and the Kongs member is Superchick, played by Debra Clinger, and we conclude our look at Debra's career beyond the Krofft world. Debra appeared on classic 70s/80s TV series like Barnaby Jones, The Hardy Boys, The Love Boat, and Hart to Hart. She starred in her own short-lived series The American Girls, alongside a future Three's Company star. She starred in the silly cult classic movie Midnight Madness, alongside a very young Michael J. Fox. And she even worked on a couple of our beloved Rankin/Bass Christmas specials. Also: 70s Hollywood power couple Lee and Farrah! Yogi Bear in space! Teen runaways and women in prison! The secret of the Dorse! A love connection on the set of Airwolf! Superchick meets the Snow Miser! Superchick meets Colonel Sanders! Krofft Supershow comic books! And the upcoming Super Megafest convention in Massachusetts, with some very special Krofft guests. So join us for more fun Krofft talk here on the Flopcast, where anything goes down, where most of what appears isn't true. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook!
