We're back to talk about The High Evolutionary yet again! After tackling all of his background, we're finally getting to his first ever introduction.
The High Evolutionary’s highlight reel includes building a planet called Counter Earth on the other side of the sun, filling it with animals that he evolved into people, and then evolving out of existence. And that’s who James Gunn has decided would be a good choice to add to the cast of “Guardians of theContinue reading "Episode 44, The High Evolutionary Manages the Miscellaneous Folder on Marvel’s Metaphorical Desktop"
Thirteen episodes doesn't quite scream "unlimited", but it's still a pretty cool title. Developed by Avi Arad and Will Meugniot, and directed by Patrick Archibald, Spider-Man Unlimited in the short-run animated series by Saban Entertainment, featuring the Marvel comic book character Spider-Man. Luke and Nathan revisit this single season series that ran from 1999 to 2001 which had the challenge of following on from the 1994 Spider-Man series. Spider-Man travels to Counter-Earth to rescue a Terran shuttle crew trapped there and discovers a tyrannical and warped version of his world.
Professor James Kakalios, the author of "The Physics of Superheroes," joins Douglas Wolk to discuss Warlock #4-7, featuring a very different Victor Von Doom. Topics discussed include whether Counter-Earth has a moon, how Kate Pryde's powers might work (and why the Flash's powers definitely don't), whether astrophysicists would know about Counter-Earth, how many physics labs have hotlines to the White House, the two other Counter-Earths, and the most important psychological difference between Reed Richards and Doom.
Mike Friedrich & Bob Brown (but NOT Jim Starlin) present a story set on Counter-Earth, the duplicate planet that's 2/3 the size of regular Earth, featuring Adam Warlock, the artificial human that is 2/3 as cool as Adam Yauch. www.ComicBookSyndicate.com
EPISODE 5: Seren and Rey return to dive into a brand new arc from the ongoing new series of Spider-Woman by Karla Pacheco and Pere Perez! A cheeky surprise for Spider-Babies...we announce something for our show! The Absolutely Brilliant Prize Give Away You Should REally Consider! Seren Gets Up On Her Podium! Rey Jumps on the Podium Too! Seren & The Princess Bride...! THIS EPISODE'S DISCUSSION - Spider-Woman Vol. 7 #6 Released 18th November 2020 Written by Karla Pacheco Drawn by Pere Perez Colours by Frank D'Armata Letters by VC's Travis Lanham Editor(s) Jake Thomas, Lindsay Cohick SYNOPSIS (by Wiki): Due to her treatment with Marchand Serums being temporary fixes, an ailing Jessica (Spider-Woman) is aided by Carol (Captain Marvel) during a raid on the moon of Counter-Earth in search of Herbert Wyndham, the High Evolutionary, the only other person with the knowledge to possibly cure Jessica. Finding an old computer, a partial translation leads the duo to "Scav City" in search of Sphinxor; all while Carol repeatedly offers her own resources to help, which Jess repeatedly refuses. Entering the Scav City pub, Carol updates Jess on the blood tests Linda took of her, while Jessica physically intimidates people in an attempt to gain more information about the location of Sphinxor. After figuring out where he is and attaining coordinates to set a course to, Tony Stark calls Jessica to check in to check on his spaceship, as Jess previously promised to "probably" not blow it up. However, at that same time, Counter-Earth space defenses shoot the ship down. Carol flies Jessica down to a temple where they are greeted by its keepers, who reveal that the High Evolutionary previously returned to the temple by their summons but then departed to parts unknown immediately after. After Carol asks for a spacecraft, Jess grows sickly and demands more formula from a defiant Carol. The two return to Earth after Carol is called back for an imminent event, forcing an agitated Jess to part ways and find people with connections to clone-makers and serum developers— the likely contacts for Wyndham to collaborate with. Going slightly off-world, Jess finds a possible new lead to Wyndham, but after ignoring another call from Carol she looks up into the sky to see dragons, realizing that the threat the Avengers were facing had begun. Episode 17: Episode Title Today we’ll be covering an introduction to HIM/Adam Warlock. This won’t be in depth because although we think of Warlock being Cosmic, that aspect of his character doesn’t develop until later on. We’ll be covering Thor (1966) 165-166 and Marvel Premiere (1972) 1 Dramatis Personae: PROTAGONISTS HIM - Adam Warlock The High Evolutionary Sir Raam Hulk - Bruce Banner The Watcher - Uatu Fantastic Four -Mr. Fantastic - Reed Richards -Thing - Ben Grimm -Human Torch - Johnny Storm Counter-Earth Disciples of Adam’s -Jason Grey -David Carter -Ellie Roberts Alicia Masters ANTAGONISTS Asgardians -Thor -Sif -Balder -Odin -Karnilla -Haag Man-Beast Kohbra Preface: HIM was created by scientists to be a “perfect being” in Fantastic Four (1961) 65-67 Pluto mentions that a powerful being is inside the Advance Science Research Center in Thor (1966) 163-164 Jack Kirby had intended HIM to be a perfect Objectivist. Roy Thomas was inspired by Jesus Christ Superstar to try and create a messiah figure. This likely explains some of the weird facets of the character in these early portrayals as well as possibly being one of the early dividing wedges between Kirby and Stan Lee. Thor (1966) 165: “HIM!” Thor, Sif, and Balder have defeated Pluto’s armies Thor and company investigate the Atomic Research Center, Thor is concerned because of Pluto’s foreboding Karnilla, still an absolute QUEEN, pines for Balder and is upset that Balder has spurned her love. She’s salty that Odin has protected Balder from her magic so she turns to Haag, the seeress Haag is prepared to snatch Balder directly to Nornheim but Karnilla bids her wait The Atomic Research Center begins quaking and all is engulfed in light. A figure emerges from a cocoon It’s HIM He recaps his origin and concludes with launching himself into space and cocooning himself. Uatu sees the cocoon, bemoans his interference in human affairs, then interferes again, returning the cocoon to Earth Thor criticizes HIM for despising mankind but HIM rebuts that he is a law and truth unto HIMself Thor is ticked off because he and Sif are in a relationship. Unfortunately for everyone he’s angry enough that he isn’t listening to reason as Sif entreats him to de-escalate. HIM runs off with Sif… not cool dude HIM teleports away with Sif but Thor and Balder catch up with them quickly. Haag takes this opportunity to strike, snatching Balder in her gigantic hand which Thor blasts out of existence. As Thor returns his attention to HIM and Sif he finds them gone. Completely enraged, Thor swears Vengeance against HIM! Thor (1966) 166: “A God Berserk!” Thor opens the issue pitching a fit and shattering mountains in the process. He has given in to Warriors Madness, a High Crime in Asgard Thor teleports himself and Balder to HIM again. Karnilla snatches Balder again but this time Thor, lost to Warriors Madness, ignores his entangled half-brother Thor and HIM begin brawling. Thor is so enraged that he sets down Mjolnir so he can beat HIM to death with his own bare hands Belder begs Thor to relent but Thor ain’t having that HIM is defeated and thus cocoons himself again, launching HIMself into space. Thor sobers up now that the conflict is over and Sif is back in his arms and is overwhelmed with guilt at the shame he’s brought upon himself Thor, Sif, and Balder return to Asgard and Thor prepares to face justice at the throne of Odin Marvel Premiere (1972) 1: “And Men shall call HIM… Warlock!” The opening page of this issue is an excruciatingly messianic image of HIM floating in space surrounded by roiling vapors of power with the High Evolutionary’s head in the bottom corner looking on An asteroid floats past the Earth, then the Moon but it’s no mere asteroid, it’s the hidden base of the High Evolutionary He recaps his prior adventures in Thor 134-135 and Tales to Astonish 94-96. He was a scientist named Herbert Wyndham who created a race of Nu-Men who were animals transformed into furries. Unfortunately his wolf furry was evil and became the dred Man-Beast, besmirching the good name of wolves the world over Thor overcame the Man-Beast so High Evolutionary exiled himself and the New-Men off planet where they revolted against him Facing his destruction he summoned the Hulk to defend him but High Evolutionary was ultimately forced to evolve into a form of pure energy which then merged with the eternal cosmos Later, loneliness overwhelmed him and his energy possessed his signature armor which catches us up to the present Sir Raam, one of the Nu-Men, informs H- E- that he’s found a strange thing floating through space. They bring the cocoon in and begin inspecting it enroute to the far side of the sun They telepathically communicate the Thor issues we just covered and H- E- is about to return HIM to the void but HIM asks what H- E- is upto and so he explains that he’s going to use his incredible power to create a Counter-Earth on the other side of the sun and populate it with peaceful, loving people. We then are treated to a dazzling fast-forward montage of the start of Counter-Earth At the critical moment where H- E- is going to purge mankind’s killer instinct, he’s overcome with exhaustion and falls asleep Man-Beast makes an appearance and corrupts the new mankind and then teleports to the planet below with some fellow evil Nu-Men High Evolutionary decides to just obliterate the new planet when HIM chimes in and says that he needs a chance to save Counter-Earth from Man-Beast’s influence as well as from their corrupt selves Before he departs, High Evolutionary grants HIM two gifts. The first is the glowing green gem which adorns his forehead and the second is a new name, Warlock! Warlock pops down to Counter-Earth ready to save them all Creators of these issues: Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Jack Kirby, Gil Kane, Vince Colletta, Dan Adkins, Artie Simek, Sam Rosen Find us on Twitter @ArtifactsOfI and ArtifactsOfInfinity.com

Another TV Junkyard! And throughout the month of May, David and Ryan are reviewing obscure, forgotten, or just plain weird Spider-Man shows! This episode we review Spider-Man Unlimited. This forgotten series changes everything up for our favorite neighbor wall-crawler, firstly, by completely switching out the neighborhood with a completely different Earth located on the opposite side of the sun. Not only that, this Spider-Man has whole new costume and new animal-humanoid villains to go up against as well as some "unique" Counter-Earth equivalents of some classic ones. Did we mention a rat lady who has the hots for our hero? Well, we talk about that and other WTF moments in this episode of TV Junkyard!

News: The Marvels, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and The Union is destroying post-Brexit BritainWhole lot of Defenders this week, which could have been good but for the fact that it's a terrible Scorpio story. Additionally, we wrap up the battle for Counter-Earth and the death of Jarella.
News: Sam Raimi, Black Widow, Disney+, The Marvels, Marvel implies the Eternals created ChinaClea has sex with Ben Franklin! Except TWIST, it wasn't Ben Franklin, it was actually an evil sorcerer. It's Spankin' Time Hello, and welcome to episode 333 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. This week we're back in the realms of Marvel Two-in-One, as an extended cast (including Starhawk, Moondragon, Her, and Alicia Masters) make their way to Counter-Earth. Well, they would do, if some bastards hadn't towed the bloody thing away, forcing them to resurrect the High Evolutionary to work out where it's gone. All this for a shag... Your Stupid Minds once again takes on a Cannon Picture (and separately, a movie somewhat focused on submission/domination) with 1987’s Gor, based on the fetishist fantasy science fiction books by John Norman. Cabot (Urbano Barberini) is a college professor whose lectures focus on magic rings that transport people to Counter-Earth, a planet that lies on the opposite side of Earth’s orbit and perpetually masked by the sun. After his girlfriend breaks up with him, Cabot gets into a car accident and is transported to Counter-Earth, also known as Gor. It is a savage land of prehistoric people with primitive weapons, dirty/sexy loin cloths, and slave women. Cabot must find the Home Stone (that looks like a giant Pop Rock) in order to get back to earth. Also a dwarf is there.
Cody is joined by the cast of the real-play pop culture tabletop podcast Shuffle Quest (Gwynn Fulcher, Tom Harrison, and Joe Anderson) to dive DEEP into the world of GOR! You can find all 1,549 Gor novels in the basement of your local “that guy”. 'Plunder of Gor' (Gorean Saga Book 34) by John Norman A mysterious package lies unclaimed somewhere in the great port of Brundisium, and it is rumored that its contents could determine the fate of a world. Whether or not that is true, one thing is certain: Men and beasts will kill to claim it. Meanwhile, a young woman, now merchandise, has been brought to the slave markets of Gor after displeasing a stranger in her secretarial job back on Earth. Unbeknownst to her, she holds the key to finding the elusive package—and changing the course of history forever. Inspired by works like Edgar Rice Burroughs’s John Carter of Mars novels and Robert E. Howard’s Almuric, this adventure series—alternatively referred to by several names including the Chronicles of Counter-Earth or the Saga of Tarl Cabot—has earned a devoted following for its richly detailed world building, erotic themes, and mash-up of science fiction, fantasy, history, and philosophy. This week Luke and Devin decide to skip the parts of Heroes Reborn that not only don't happen in an alternate universe - but that are also not online - to get back to their friends the Exiles - who then visit Counter-Earth #3, deal with a bunch of corpses, and then fight some Russians. It's a bold new start, with a brand new attitude - but you still gotta catch'em all!
Bobblehead Galactus Hello, and welcome to episode 237 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. It's an anniversary week at The Fantasticast, as we get to grips with the not-super-sized Fantastic Four #175. The High Evolutionary and Galactus are finally getting down to the battle for Counter-Earth, and the Fantastic Four can do little more than stand by and watch. A solution seems almost... impossible... Roy Thomas and John Buscema (inking himself) present the first ever final ever Galactus story, concluding a tale that began with a giant golden gorilla, and ensuring that the life of Ben Grimm will never be the same again until the next time his life will never be the same again. All this, included in the limits of Galactus's peripheral vision. Send in your feedback to fantastic4podcast@gmail.com, leave your comments at the libsyn site, or at www.TheFantasticast.com. I Drove My Fantasticar Through Your Haystack Last Night Hello, and welcome to episode 235 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. This week, we continue our journey through the story of the High Evolutionary / Galactus war for the very existence of Counter-Earth. Ben and Reed find themselves inciting revolution on Torgo's planet of robots, whilst Johnny and Gorr go jousting on a suspiciously-cliched medieval planet. Well, I say Johnny does this - what he actually does is literally tread water for half a comic. Roy Thomas, John Buscema, and Joe Sinnott present Fantastic Four #174, containing unusual armour, a life-changing admission, a cunning disguise, a discussion of why Reed isn't working (both literally and figuratively), and someone spoiling the Planet of the Apes. Some of those things might be us. Send in your feedback to fantastic4podcast@gmail.com, leave your comments at the libsyn site, or at www.TheFantasticast.com. Thank You, Rich Buckler Hello, and welcome to episode 233 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. This week, it's the turn of Fantastic Four #173, as Ben Grimm prepares to battle Galactus in space, before events conspire to split the team up and hunt down a different snack for the World-Eater. Roy Thomas, John Buscema and Joe Sinnott present a tale of digging for oxygen, unconvincing reasons for Sue to stay out of the action, and the return of the surprising character. But before all of this, we take a few minutes to remember writer and artist Rich Buckler, whose two year tenure as Fantastic Four artist we finished covering just a few months ago. Rich recently passed away after a long battle with cancer, and with his work fresh in our minds, we sit down to discuss his artistic contributions to the Fantastic Four, as well as his wider career in general. Feeding Twinkies To The Cosmic Cube Hello, and welcome to episode 230 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four. This week, we're returning to the scene of the crime, with a talking golden gorilla held in Reed Richards' sex dungeon laboratory. It's Fantastic Four #172, which returns the team to space to battle The Destroyer, Herald of Galactus, for the very existence of the High Evolutionary and Counter Earth. Bill Mantlo, George Perez, and Joe Sinnott present Cry, The Bedeviled Planet, a truncated story of intergalactic life-saving, and space-filling flashbacks. As well as this, we discover that Andy can't remember who's been on the show, and we discover a surprising addition to the very short list of Tony-nominated comics creators. We return to the cinema with The Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3, the thirty second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The final movie in the trilogy and James Gunn's final movie for Marvel before he moves to the Distinguished Competition. We chat all about the movie in our latest podcast.Synopsis for our Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3 Movie Review with the help of WikipediaWritten and Directed by: James GunnAt their new headquarters on Knowhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy are attacked by Adam Warlock, a Sovereign warrior created by their high priestess Ayesha. After Adam overpowers them and seriously wounds Rocket, he is stabbed by Nebula and forced to flee. The Guardians are unable to tend to Rocket's wounds due to a kill switch, made by the company Orgocorp, embedded in him. To save their friend the Guardians travel to Orgocorp's headquarters to find the override code.As Rocket lies unconscious, he recalls his past. As a baby raccoon, he was experimented on by the High Evolutionary, a scientist who sought to enhance animal lifeforms into anthropomorphic species to create a "Perfect" Counter-Earth. Rocket befriended the other test subjects: an otter called Lylla, the walrus Teefs, and the rabbit named Floor. Of all the test subjects the High Evolutionary was impressed by Rocket's intelligence but furious when it exceeded his own. Perfecting the anthropomorphization process with Rocket's advice he orders Rocket's brain to be extracted and his friends incinerated. Rocket, realising he and his friends were not part of the High Evolutionary's perfect world, frees himself and his friends, but Lylla, Reefs and Floor but are killed in the escape by the High Evolutionary.Rocket, enraged, mauls the High Evolutionary and shoots his guards, as he makes his solitary escape in a spaceship. In the present, the alternate version of Gamora, who has joined the Ravagers, helps the Guardians infiltrate Orgocorp, which is owned by the High Evolutionary. They retrieve Rocket's file, but discover that the code has been removed. The group speculates that Theel, one of the High Evolutionary's recorders, has it, so they depart for Counter-Earth. They are followed by Ayesha and Adam, who are ordered by their creator, the High Evolutionary, to retrieve Rocket for his brain.Upon arriving on Counter Earth, the team is helped by residents in tracing Theel to the High Evolutionary's ship. Drax and Mantis remain with Gamora and Rocket as Peter Quill, Groot, and Nebula travel to the ship. Nebula is forced to wait outside by guards as Quill and Groot board. Drax and Mantis chase after Quill's group. The High Evolutionary initiates his destruction and planned recreation of Counter-Earth, which kills all life on the planet, including Ayesha. As his ship enters orbit, Quill and Groot leap off with Theel, retrieving the code from him. Gamora arrives with their ship to rescue them, while Nebula, Mantis, and Drax board the High Evolutionary's ship to rescue the now-absent Quill and Groot. As Quill's group attempts to access the code, Rocket flatlines and has a near death experience, where he sees Lylla, Teefs, and Floor. Lylla tells him that his time has not yet come as Quill uses the code to disable the kill switch and save Rocket's life.Nebula, Mantis, and Drax come across hundreds of imprisoned humanoid children on the High Evolutionary's ship before being captured. Quill's group sets out to rescue the three, who are placed in a chamber with monstrous Abilisks. Mantis befriends the Abilisks, allowing the group to escape and reunite with Quill's group, together overpowering the High Evolutionary's army. Kraglin and Cosmo arrive on Knowhere, and Cosmo creates a telekinetic tunnel connecting Knowhere to the High Evolutionary's ship to free the captured children. Rocket discovers imprisoned animals on the ship before being attacked by the High Evolutionary, but the rest of the Guardians help subdue him, leaving him to perish on his ship. The Guardians rescue the animals and lead them aboard Knowhere. Quill nearly dies trying to cross over but is saved by Adam, who had a change of heart after being saved by Groot. In the aftermath, Quill leaves the Guardians, bestowing the captaincy to Rocket before leaving for Earth to reunite with his grandfather Jason. Mantis embarks on a journey of self-discovery with the Abilisks, Gamora reunites with the Ravagers, and Nebula and Drax remain on Knowhere to raise the rescued children. In a mid-credits scene, the new Guardians, consisting of Rocket, a fully-grown Groot, Cosmo, Kraglin, Adam, Phyla-Vell (one of the rescued children), and Adam's pet Blurp, take on a new mission.
