In this episode: Paul Mooney was obviously gay (and a hack), shitting on both Israel and Palestine, The Immaculate Room and the way we all know women are, etc. Everything you need: https://linktr.ee/OTWD
Normally, when someone is put in to a white room with nothing else in it, it's not a good thing. Similarly, when two people enter a challenge on a Netflix production with millions of dollars up for grabs, it's also not a good thing. We're about to muddy the cinescape as we try to prove to you that The Immaculate Room is not that bad. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Mike (Emile Hirsch) and Kate (Kate Bosworth), a seemingly perfect couple, join a psychological experiment to compete for five million dollars if they can last 50 days in a sleek, white room in complete isolation. No phones, no family - only the Voice of the Immaculate Room keeping them in check if they think of straying. But as the clock ticks down, the Room becomes more than it seems, putting them through cruel tests to break their resolve and resurfacing private demons which they may not survive.

It's the end of August and lots of people are on vacation - but not us! We've been sifting through the end of summer's entertainment options for you. And there are quite a few - starting with "Day Shift." It's a Netflix comedy starring Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. It's about a hard-working, blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 10-year-old daughter. His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires. Then we've got "Bad Sisters" on Apple TV. It's a really dark Irish comedy about 5 Irish sisters who really support each other. Bill Bregoli tells us about it. Bill McCuddy fills us in on the Netflix series "Echoes" starring Michelle Monaghan as identical twins who have secretly swapped their lives since they were children. Neil Rosen has a book report and talks one last time (he promises) about "Better Call Saul." There's also the low-budget thriller "Fall" about two BFFs who find themselves at the top of a 2,000-foot transmitter tower. Plus we've got the HBO Max documentary "The Princess" in which Princess Diana's story is told exclusively through contemporaneous archive creating a bold and immersive narrative of her life and death. And there's "The Immaculate Room" starring Kate Bosworth and Emile Hirsch as a seemingly perfect young couple who competes for a 5 million dollar prize by isolating themselves in an empty white room for 50 days. See, while the rest of the world has been sunning themselves and drinking pina coladas, we've been busy - so listen in!
Actress Kate Bosworth joins Mase & Sue to talk about her new film THE IMMACULATE ROOM also starring Emile Hirsch. It's a psychological thriller about a couple that agrees to stay in an empty room for 50 days to win $5 million dollars. Kate also talks about her career highlights including the movie BLUE CRUSH and all of the training that went into preparing for the role. Also, her secrets for a good meditation session.
The summer season may be winding down but Erik Childress and Steve Prokopy found 11 movies to talk about this week. They revisit their thoughts on the bizarre Alison Brie/Aubrey Plaza Italy film from SXSW (Spin Me Round). Steve checks out a couple of documentaries about Indigenous leaders trying to take back the Amazon rainforest (The Territory) and one on the career of musical artist, Courtney Barnett (Anonymous Club). Erik looks at a struggling married couple on a yacht to nowhere (Get Away If You Can) and a whole town that experiences the effects of drinking horny water (Love In Kilneery). Steve has Emile Hirsch and Kate Bosworth isolated for cash prizes (The Immaculate Room) and the pair look at another two-hander involving Ryan Kwanten, J.K. Simmons' voice through a glory hole and the end of the world (Glorious). Lili Rinehart stars in a gutless Sliding Doors scenario (Look Both Ways) and a mentally challenged Stephan James tries to solve the death of his sister (Delia's Gone). Isabelle Fuhrmann returns to the role of the con artist who looks like a child (Orphan: First Kill) and Idris Elba tries to protect his daughters in the Cujo for Lions tale (Beast). 0:00 – Intro 3:41 – Spin Me Round 16:31 – The Territory 22:02 – Love In Kilneery 31:29 – Anonymous Club 39:26 – Get Away If You Can 46:41 – The Immaculate Room 54:03 – Glorious 1:02:32 – Look Both Ways 1:16:13 – Delia's Gone 1:29:13 – Orphan: First Kill 1:41:19 – Beast 1:57:55 – Outro

How will the CDC change to prevent future public health crises? And how is the U.S. addressing monkeypox outbreaks and vaccine availability?
